Quote:No. This is not how market fees work.if i list lets say a LOTG for 1 inf, i pay 5 inf for the listing fee, when it sells for lets day 100 mil inf, im still receiving about 90 mil inf, which i didnt have before, and if i listed it for 100 mil inf, i would have wasted an additional 5 mil inf, so my net gain would have been 85 mil, so for max profit i sell stuff for 1 inf (if i really cared about not losing 1-4 inf when a product sells i would list at 5 inf, but 1-4 is insignificant)

Complaining about congratulating people who level. What's next, complaining about drive-by buffing?

I have a merc/FF mastermind, and I far prefer him over my necro/pain. Plenty of pew-pew and I have Achille's Heel procs in the mercs, so things seem to melt quite nicely. I know mercs isn't the top dawg but it sure is fun. The poster upthread who said not to take Serum is absolutely right, the recharge is just way too long and even when it is up it isn't enough to turn a fight around in my experience.

People spend merits on insps?! I thought that option was some kind of sick joke.

Awesome!

Would that I was familiar with such a use of this word.
edit:
Quote:Which of those two meanings does this sentence use? "I would like a peanut butter banana bacon sandwich." Words mean lots of things. I've never seen anyone use "would" in the way you describe but then again who knows what painful misuse of language goes on in RPing. The word "would," when properly used, indicates either a habitual action:
"On Tuesdays, his uncle would take him to get ice cream at the store on the corner."
or something that might happen if a particular condition was met which either isn't or is uncertain:
"He would have taken his nephew to get ice cream that Tuesday, if it wasn't raining."
"He would take his nephew to get ice cream on Tuesdays when it wasn't too hot out."
It can also mean "wish" or "want." This use is mostly deprecated. -
Amen. When things go south, it's pretty much never because of one team member and their power choices. Having said that I would be annoyed to discover that a bubbler I invited had no small bubbles, but no more so than the inevitable discovery that the fire/kin I invited does absolutely nothing to buff his teammates. We'd soldier on and complete whatever task we had, regardless of the build decisions or playstyles of individual team members.

Quoting this cause dark armour owns hard. I was a /wp or /sr kinda guy until I gave dark armour an honest try and now I can't stand other sets. So I guess my PvE list is, in order of awesomeness, /DA, /SR, /WP. PvP comedy answer? Regen I guess.

Yep, use Howling Twilight early and often. It's a great power and I use it every time it is refreshed and there are enemies to make it worthwhile. Saving it for rezzing people is Doing It Wrong™

Quote:Click here to view the patch notes for recent and not-so-recent changes to the game.Ok so I was told that they nerfed Willpower? I know why they did but why now? My first level 50, Shikratia, is Superstrength and Willpower and I just got her IO's and set just the way I need her. Everytime I am enjoying something, not abusing it, they nerf it :O This isn't fair....
So I guess the question here is, did they really nerf Willpower? -

Quote:Came here to post this, tested specifically on a DP/Traps corruptor. The problem seems to only appear in Level Up mode. Workaround is to change to Dynamic mode, place the next power, then switch back to Level Up mode. Thanks for the update, but I've run into a bug:
When you select the Swap Ammo power it immediately refuses to let you place /any/ new slots into /any/ power.
Also, if you first select a different power, add a slot to it, then deselect the power and select Swap Ammo instead, the slots remain.
Thanks for your hard work on this program man, I'm sure I speak for many when I say it's really appreciated. -
Quote:Those ammo toggles don't appear in the list until you take Swap Ammo, and you do not need to pick them individually as power picks. The ammo toggles are not the tier 5/6/7 powers, they only appear that way due to an artifact of the way powers are displayed. Scroll the power list down farther when you level up to 10 and you will see that there are more powers listed.Soooo... like half the civilized world, I logged in on Wednesday and rolled up a new DP hero, and since then I've managed to solo up to level 8 (so sue me... I'm slow). So here's my question. At level 6, I got the "swap ammo" power, and I dragged the toggles for the different ammo types into my tray. But the tier 5, 6, and 7 powers are named after those three toggles. What's the point in taking those three powers? Don't I already have them? Are my toggles just placebos at this point? Does taking the ammo powers actually make the toggles do something?
Any insight that anyone can offer is greatly appreciated. Thanks! -

Quote:The blasters that take aim and/or buildup do as much damage as you do while A/BU are inactive, and then they do a lot more for the period that A/BU are active. They are not "relying on BU/AIM" to do their damage, they are using A/BU to give them a burst of damage when they need it, such as to take out a large group of dangerous minions or to work over a boss really fast. If there was some power you could take that raised your average damage all the time, and taking this power precluded taking A/BU, then you might have a case, but as it is your preference is doing nothing but purposely lowering your average damage. As you say, it's your choice, but I just don't want any new players to think that your choice is anything other than intentionally lowering the effectiveness of the character.I prefer my blasters (and scrappers) to have a consistent damage output rather than the big spikes that relying on BU/AIM give.
To the OP, if you only take one, take BU. You won't need the large to-hit that Aim gives, and you will appreciate the extra damage. However it's really nice to take both. -
I assumed that the SSK system made no changes to how set bonuses work with regard to the level at which they stop working. If I am wrong I'd love to know and see where I can get the details of the changes.

Sounds like fun to me, dude was new to the scene and you were awesome enough to teach rather than freak out. Hats off to you and the team for taking the guy through and not leaving him with a bad taste in his mouth!

Quote:Welp. Just got home from work and had the client install normally while I was out; the normal client still shuts off Aero for me. I wish I knew why it did this, I don't see what could make my install so different from others. My normal install didn't do it by default. It's possible Steam does something to make it turn Aero off. Not sure.
edit: Could this be because I have multiple monitors? -
Quote:Thanks so much for this. I will give it a shot once I get off work. So it isn't normal for CoH to turn off Aero?I'm quoting my own post here for convenience. Emberly, try doing this for your CoH install. If you have a desktop shortcut for CoH, do the same steps for it as well.
For your Steam CoH install, it should be in "Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\City of Heroes". For the normal CoH install it should just be in "Program Files\City of Heroes\" (or "Program Files (x86)" if you're using 64bit). Hope this helps. -
Quote:I've taken a look at the steam forums and found nothing. I'm curious though, Bill; when you play does it turn off Aero while you are in game? Mine turns off Aero and the notification area gets a message saying that some features of Cityofheroes.exe are incompatible with Aero.Emberly, I'm on Win7 64bit, with an ATI 5870 and running the latest 10.2 drivers. I have zero issues alt-tabbing, windows keying, anything.
I don't run CHV through steam. EDIT: Completing thoughts is a good thing. have you already hit the steam forums for alt-tabbing questions? I ask because on both nvidia and ati cards, I've run into weirdness of different types alt-tabbing while playing on steam.
edit: Trying a whole new installation via the normal channels rather than Steam. We'll see if that helps at all once I get back from work. -
I am unable to alt+tab out of the game since I installed Windows 7. I know about turning on Aero and it is on, I am running the Aero Windows 7 theme, but as soon as I start up CoH Aero turns off. While I am in game I can't alt+tab, and the windows key doesn't work. Well, that's not true. Alt+tab does switch me out of CoH, and the windows key does pull up the start menu, but CoH stays "in front" of everything so I can't see the other applications or the start menu.
I run the game via Steam, if that matters. System is Windows 7 64 bit, Radeon 5850 video card, 10.1 driver version (have also tested with 10.2 with no change.).
I want to reiterate that I do have Aero turned on so as to avoid wasting your time or mine. I think the problem is somehow related to Aero turning off when I run CoH. Is that the normal behaviour?
edit: maybe this isn't so much an ATI issue as a Windows 7 issue? If so I apologize, but the folks in here seem the smartest about video problems
