I'd rather team with a thousand kins that don't have speedboost than a single plant troller/dom that doesn't have seeds of confusion. Take from that what you will.
-
I'm running missions right now on my mercs/ff, using Force Bubble to keep the mobs at range, and the mercs are not closing to melee. They are happy to sit by me and spew lead death. I've got them on defensive/follow and am not issuing any other orders to them at all.

Oh man, numbers! I love numbers!

Quote:That's kinda my point. There's no evidence that the cap is stopping spam, so there's no reason to think it does. However, I have characters that haven't got the option set to refuse unknown email, and they get daily spam. So, there's evidence that the options work, and none that the cap makes a lick of difference on top of the options. If you're going to talk about logical fallacies.... if the email cap *IS* stopping some spam, how would you know? Where would your evidence be? You've got your own logical fallacy going...
It's not fallacious for me to assume that something has no effect when there's no way to observe it. I can test the email options and see that it definitely has an effect. The fact that leaving the email option open still gets me spam supports my hypothesis that the cap does nothing to stop spam at all.
edit: just logged into a character with no options set to limit emails. Last spam received: today. The one previous to that: today. From different spam accounts. If the cap has an effect, it's imperceptible. -
Quote:Paging The_Alt_oholic to this thread!I think we could point you to a few of those types who say we deserve a cruddy market because we are villains. They even lack the braincells to write that we are "playing" villains.
Wait, what's that smell?
Oh, he's here already. Carry on. -
Quote:Sip some tea and laugh at the antics of the colonies!*I'm an EU player and I'm still looking for this so called "Freedom" server on my list. Wat do?
The EU/NA divide makes me sad; I would totally roll on some EU servers if I could. Are the EU servers fairly well populated? I hear that one of the English-language servers has a lot more players than the other?
*edit: Assuming tea is your thing. -
Quote:I form teams every single day, for XP, T/SFs, and general farting around badge hunting. I've had the problems your describe maybe. . . four times? Five? And that's since launch. Most people are just happy to join a good team doing things they will enjoy. Seriously, leading a team is simplicity itself. I make a boilerplate message to copy into a tell, and that way anyone I ask is aware of the team's purpose and any shenanigans I might have planned. I assume that no reply means no thanks, and I never blind invite under any circumstances. Avoids a lot of misunderstanding. Its got nothing to do with laziness as I said, its just a big headache. Some players wont play on a team unless it has this AT, some players wont join unless your doing AE missions, some players wont join unless your doing Radios, some players wont join unless your doing TF/SF, some players wont join unless you only do their missions. Not to mention all the people who want a tell sent first even though they are already actively looking for a group. Again I dont have time for all that *** kissing just so you can join a team that you are already looking for. For the record I dont just blindly invite people unless you are looking for a group and dont have please send tell in your search comment, those folks automatically get skipped over.
I think it's sort of funny that you skip over people who just want a tell from the leader about what the team is going to be doing, and then you complain here about how some people might not want to do some of the things you mention. Sounds to me like the problems you have leading teams is entirely due to your inability or unwillingness to effectively communicate.
Hmm *looks at threat title* Oh yeah! **** server merging. That's the death rattle for MMOs. If I was looking at starting in a different MMO and I heard they just merged servers, I would take that to mean it's dying. Also, as others have said, there's a server out there with the population level you like, so don't try to turn Justice into Freedom, just roll on Freedom. -
Quote:Adding the option to filter email by SG and friendlist stopped every single piece of spam. I haven't gotten a single unsolicited email since. As far as I am concerned, it's perfect, because I would consider any email from an unknown sender as spam, and report it as such.Serious question here: How many people have had an RMT Spammer send something to their @Global Name since I17 launched?
It hasn't happened to me, and none of the people I know in-game have had it happen to them. So, I'm honestly curious to know if anyone has had it happen to them.
I don't see any evidence that the email cap is stopping spam, other than the post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy of "Kheldarn discovers email cap, this must explain why there is no spam." I definitely see evidence that the email cap is causing legitimate players problems.
Finally, I don't see Kheldarn or anyone saying they are going to send 150 emails every day. I do see Kheldarn saying that when s/he needs to send more than that, the cap sucks. I can see that being true, especially if it's every 24 hour period and not every calendar day. Why not make it 4500 emails per calendar month, which would allow for the same total number of emails per unit time, but also permit the odd day where someone goes on a crafting frenzy? -
It would be nice to be able to cap resistances on my brutes and scrappers as easily as I cap defense. Some characters I would probably prefer it. Can't imagine it happening though, sounds like a ton of work.
-
Stomped him flat on a db/da scrap and a dm/sr brute. Worst trouble I had was being locked in animations when he started his stunt and not getting away fast enough. On my mastermind, he didn't even try his stunt, not sure why. Went down like a chump there too.

I'm hoping that ELA gets better with IOs cause at L24 it's been rough on me. Granted I am working claws/ela so not much for mitigation in the primary yet but it's still a hard row to hoe. Not used to having to stick with low difficulty levels on brutes, but when I get overwhelmed by hubris and ramp it up I get stomped flat in short order.

Quote:Cool, thanks for your hard work. It's really appreciated! No you are not doing anything wrong. For watever reason the version nubmer in the program didnt change. Correct data is more important than correct versioning. To bypass this issue click Options > Configuration > Updates & Paths > UNCHECK "Check for updates on startup.
-
The About information from the program is showing that it is version 1.704, on the latest download. Is this right? I uninstalled it completely and reinstalled it and got the same thing, and I am still getting the updater message that there is a newer version. The installer is labelled as 1706 but running the program reports 1.704. Am I doing it wrong here somewhere?

Quote:He's talking about spamming himself with emails. How is that harmful? If you're getting email spam, there's tools to fix that in Options.I vote no. In fact, I'm quite surprised the limit is that high. Spamming broadcast will automatically silence you for a while and a restriction on email is absolutely necessary, for exactly the same reason.
Quote:150!??! Please be more realistic about the cap and lower it to about 10 a day. 150!?!?! What are you smoking needing to do more than that!?! Makes me wonder if you are not spamming me in the game...
Kheldarn I am with you, I have not hit this cap but there's no reason for it now that people can turn off email from strangers or turn it off entirely. The cap on my inbox is grating enough. -

Wrong section, this is Player Guides not Player Questions.

Quote:No, I think that's Virtue too, from my experience, which is exactly as valid as yours. But if 'number one' is defined in terms of community-based player experience, then Champion is number one.
OP, Virtue trades punches with Freedom for top load, which can explain why your experienced lag issues. If it's sever please do go to the tech support forum and ask for help; the folks there are very supportive as long as you are willing to give them the info they need. For me, last night I was mapserver'd twice, which rarely happens, and lost some progress on a badge I was working on, so I am not surprised that you had issues. Hopefully today is better!
edit:
Well spoken. -
What's gained by going back to Virtue LFG when everyone is already on Virtue LFG Alpha? There's no compelling reason to return, unlike VU2010 which had the yearly naming issue.

Quote:What new primary are tankers getting? They're getting a new secondary, not a primary. Same with fenders.Sorry if it's been stated elsewhere before, but so far I've been able to find a new primary for every other AT, I was wondering if I just missed the defenders' announcement?
There are new powersets for every AT but they're not all primaries.
edit: powerset proliferation could prove me wrong, of course. -
This is just a "gut feeling" kinda observation but having played a lot of defenders and corruptors, I can say that I miss the damage when I play defenders but I never notice the lower strength buffs on corruptors. Corruptor buffs are more than strong enough, they are awesome force multipliers while not being limited to dealing laughable damage in most cases.

Quote:You won't lose the IOs; you won't be able to slot them into Caltrops once you respec but they will still be there in your tray. Are the new Caltrops worth the slot?? I mean with 3 less procs the damage potential is greatly reduced.
Also, I currently have 2 /Trap MMs, both with Caltrops, but only one managed to slot them before the change; will I lose the IOs if I respec?
I'm still using Caltrops in my build because the two damage procs and the Ragnarok KD proc make it a nice power indeed. Your mileage may vary. -
Traps is awesome. Poison Trap is not in any way a skippable power. Why yes I would like an AoE hold that is up every 40 seconds and is autohit and has a huge -regen, why do you ask? Triage Beacon is fine if you are into that sort of thing, and Seekers makes you into a god by eating the alpha so you don't have to and then debuffing the hell out of the spawn.
How Emberly be doin' it: (Sorry Silas!)
- Spawn Seekers in the middle of the mob.
- While the mob is going OMG WUT I run in and plant PT (which is not interruptible, where would anyone get this idea).
- It fires, I plant a tripmine, or I throw some trops, maybe web up a big bad for some hot hot Ignite action, and throw down ye olde Acid Mortar with an Achilles proc for the best of times.
- Nothing can kill me because I have the FFG, they are held for a good chunk of time, their tohit is debuffed, and the ones that do manage to hit me are suffering from some serious -DMG.
- Everything dies and I laugh as my AR barrel cools down.
Don't fear Traps, Tulare, it rocks. -
Quote:You have chosen. . .I played CO for awhile and liked the idea behind it and wish the gameplay had been better. Doing the most logical thing I explore its counter part COH. Low and behold I find a wellspring of awesome in a home I now call Virtue server.
(CO sucked... got bored.. got COH on a good sale and decided to test it out. Gameplay is more consistant. I am a roleplayer and find this game suits RP better.)
wisely.
