Quote:I appreciate the feedback. Will play with a non-Def build and repost. Also, I'd wavered about muling CF but I think you're right. Should have built it with the procs instead.not much time to respond.
You might consider not going for ANY defense (unless you decide on a defense armor).
I would focus on generously slotting your many excellent powers.
Grav Anchor proc is marvelous in CF
Level 8: Crushing Field- Trap of the Hunter - Accuracy/Recharge
- Trap of the Hunter - Accuracy/Endurance
- Trap of the Hunter - Chance of Damage(Lethal)
- Positron's Blast - Chance of Damage(Energy)
- Impeded Swiftness - Chance of Damage(Smashing)
- Gravitational Anchor - Chance for Hold
gotta run! -
Looking for a critique of my Grav/time 'troller. I created the build for some additional damage, recharge, acc, resist and S/L def. She's a concept toon created on blue side so I will not be going rogue just to get a red side epic pool. I chose Psionic Mastery in order to fit in with the concept of the character.
I have looked at a build with Stone Mastery and while I cap S/L Def with Rock Armor, plus add a couple of ranged attacks it's not my first choice. I could figure out a concept reason for it but I dislike taking powers for benefits over concept. Plus, I hate the look of stone armors. :-/
I expect I'll have to solo her part/most of the time, as she's on Exalted, so I wanted Propel to provide additional attack potential. I do have Blackwand and Nemesis Staff vet rewards to add to her attack chain, as well. I'm not crazy about the four slots in brawl to get the Kin Combat S/L/M bonus but she's low on Def as it is.
For giggles, I looked at putting Lift in place of Time Stop and moving the Brawl spots to Lift. I could 5-slotting Kinetic Crash to get a mag 3 KB/KU protection which allows me to put the Winter's Gift 20% slow resist in Recall Friend. Downside is I lose 3.7% S/L Def with this change. Alternatively I can put damage sets in there for any bonuses I want to boost and leave the mag 4 KB/KU in Recall Friend. All that said, with Hover I'm not sure KB/KU protection is as necessary and slots/inf could be spent in other places.
I know Hami-O's provide a lot of benefit and can free up slots but I rarely do Hami raids so don't currently have any HO's to slot nor do I intend on spending the inf to buy them on Market at this time.
I look forward to your advice. :-)

nm - did a second build on my fire/fire and got the answer. Can't get the Mace patron pool on a hero-side blaster.

I am fully behind this idea. I'm sorry it hasn't been implemented before this.
-
I'm running the 4870 512 on my system and the graphics look exquisite with everything maxed. I'm running a Q9500 2.83GHz OC'd to 3.5 GHz, 4 GB DDR2, Vista 64-bit. They even looked fabulous on my old CRT. So, I'd say that crappy graphics aren't due to the card alone (unless it's a bad card, which could happen).

I didn't reread the transcript, though I do remember the interview distinctly...but here's my take on bases:
They give players their own property...not exactly new ground for MMP's...however, they do offer an unprecedented level of customization.
Clearly, that customization, as well as the several gameplay benefits that the base provides hasn't been perceived to be worth the cost (i.e. Prestige/time played)...hence, Posi and several others (including myself) have taken a spin at making bases more accessible at an earlier stage.
It isn't the popularity of bases so much as the fact that our programming & art team did a phenomenal job of allowing players to generate their own lairs. Maybe not enough players have experienced this content to comment on it, though hopefully Posi's changes will help.
[/ QUOTE ]
My husband and I have created an SG for our characters on Infinity and the changes Posi and others made to the bases allowed us to get a medical bay ring up and a workshop table and we're VERY pleased to have them. Excellent change devs! -
I am very sorry to see you leaving the CoX boards and am VERY glad you're still with NCSoft.
Your moderation has been funny, insightful and deft. You 'get' this community in a way that is rare among forum moderators in other games I've played and that makes it doubly hard to see you moving on.
It's my hope that if you're moving to the Tabula Rasa team you can whip them into shape and get that game out (because you're really the power behind the throne, aren't you?)
Good luck, Cuppa and Goddess speed. Now I've got a reason to go and sign up for the Tabula Rasa boards. -
At 11:41 pm PDT my primary, Emain Macha, hit 50. My first 50 at 670+ hours. I'm hoping my next one takes a little less time.

* Supergroup Name: Lethal Ladies and Deadly Dudes
* Website: http://lethalladies.guildportal.com
* Leader: Electra Outlaw
* Guild Description: We're an active, relaxed coalition who like to work together to help each other and the SG as a whole. We're one of the top 100 SGs on Pinnacle and are listed in the COH Team/Supergroup Fan Site section. We coordinate group TFs and missions, prestige blitzes, PvP sessions, group badge hunting and RP days for those players who enjoy RPing. We have a fully functional base with all hazard zone teleport points, medical facility, etc. and we are working on getting a Ventrillo server so we can more easily coordinate group efforts. We also have a Villian Group, Sinner's Syndicate, and we're beginning active recruiting for that group as well.
* Preferred Method of contact: Go to our website and check out the 'About Us' section. Then apply to the SG by posting in our Aspiring Members/Applications thread. You will be greeted by Electra or one of our officers. We'll want to team with you and get to know you so be sure to let us know when you are available for teaming. If you've already teamed with one of us and we recommended you apply, be sure to say so in your application. -
I've noticed this, as well, with the uniform jacket and uniformed folled sleeves. I can live with the clipping (particularly since like the glam hair style for most of my female characters and that always clips into capes) but it would be nice to see it fixed, some time.

Quick (and dumb) question, is there a limit on how many chat channels one can join? I have alts all over every server, and I'm trying to customize chat tabs for each server (like Victory Badges and Victory Monsters on my Victory toons and Infinity Monster and inf badge seekers on infinity toons etc.)
But i've found I'm only able to join 5 channels. Is this the case or am I doing something wrong? If this is the limit, does anyone know of a workaround other than quiting and joining channels for each server evertime I switch toons?
Many thanks!

[/ QUOTE ]
5 is the limit IG. It's not just you and it's for your global name, not for each toon.

Anyone know if there will be an increase to this limit? It's a pain to have to pick and choose which channel to join each time I sign on. -
I could not resist joining the bandwagon. Now I have something for my LJ as well.

I like that nick name. -
Mr. Zeus, your icon is still quite disburing, sir.
I got my husband into CoH (I5 and Special ED drove him out, sadly). In CoH or other MMOs we have played/do play together we've never created characters with intertwined backstory. While I really like roleplaying he's not much into it. Beyond that neither of us have seen the need to do the whole 'cosmic fate/married' thing with our characters since we are in real life.
We do play our characters together quite a lot, though, in any MMO we play. Being old PnP gamers from way way way way back one or the other of us was always running a game so we rarely had a chance to play together. MMOs allowed us that chance (damn, that sounds sappy).
I've noticed that CoH seems to have a high couples count compared to other games we've played. It also seems to have a larger female player base than other MMOs I've played. At the risk of sounding sexist, for women new to gaming I think CoH is a very user friendly introduction. The learning curve is quite gentle, the game is very forgiving in the early levels and it's quite easy to team with your SO even if there are several levels between the two of you.
Besides, the male characters have quite nice butts to look at and, if you angle your camera just right, you can see their hang down.
Damn... is that gonna get censored? -
[ QUOTE ]
The point is that you and everyone should try something before you complain about it.
Its like a 5 year old saying that he doesnt like a food when hes never tried it.
[/ QUOTE ]
The point, which you obviously missed, is that he's played PvP in other games and doesn't like it. Nor did the mission statements provide any indication you can stand in the safe zone and talk to the contact then bug out. It's ridiculous to presume every player who gets these sorts of mission will understand it's the same case as David Wincott. All the 'suck it up, princess' responses are just as childish.
I don't care one way or another, personally. I have little interest in PvP in CoH/CoV but will certainly explore and play in the PvP zones and understand that that choice has consequences. I deal with it when it happens, just like I do in the other PvP heavy MMO I play. However, there are those who don't want to engage in it at all. Their complaints are just as valid as the points y'all brought up.
*sigh I can already feel the maturity of these boards rapidly degrading. I wonder when the Battle.net kiddies will start showing up? -

With Enhancement Diversification comes a benefit for ALL City of Heroes powers.
Every power, across the board, is getting a 13.33% reduction in its Endurance cost.
[/ QUOTE ]
I do appreciate this change. However it does not address issues such as... wait for it.. DEF and RES. With the I5 reductions and now the reduction in effectiveness of enhancements for RES and DEF, powersets hit particularly hard by these changes (not just Invuln) do see a further decrease in their effectiveness.
While the statement made that changes to powersets were completed with I5 is correct, the enhancement effectiveness reduction now devalues certain powersets further. On behalf of the Invuln crowd, I would urge you to review the numbers and suggestions made by Iron Vixen and Buffy A. Summers for increasing (even to some small degree) Invuln's DEF or non S/L resists. While S/L is the prevalent damage the end game is rife with foes who do non-S/L damage (Carnies = energy, Crey = energy, fire, cold, etc.).
Also, a fourth free respec would be appreciated as I'm conflicted about using my current one to respec on my main (Invuln/Fire tank) and get as much playing time in as possible and hope I can respec her yet again when CoV goes live with the enhancement effectiveness reduction or hold it in reserve, respec her when CoV goes live and grit my teeth for the grind to lvl 50.
Thank you for your consideration. -

There have been a lot of posts about which Defense powers stack with other Defense powers; some of this has been accurate, but some of it hasnt.
Seemingly, we lost sight of a basic principle of Design: players shouldnt make uninformed choices. Namely, some buffs had no effect on a player if he had certain Defense powers active.
Intuitively, a buff such as a Force Field should provide protection to a player whether he is a Super Reflexes Scrapper, an Ice Tanker or an Invulnerability Scrapper/Tanker.
As a result, we went through ALL of the Defense buffs in the game and ensured that they provide a benefit to players, regardless of build.
This means that every Defense buff WILL stack to some degree with a players defenses, regardless of his power set.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you for reviewing this issue and making sure the DEF buffs do stack. -

Yeah, it says that they've Screwed up a lot in the last 6 years (And I watched 'em do it, I fought against it, but they did it anyway). They had incredible talent(that got incredibly discusted with corporate-beuracracy) and they squandered their last opportunity for a great game on an EQ rip-off. ...So the real talent (Rob Pardo and Samwise Diddier being the last few remaining exceptions) said "We're going to where it's FUN again". ...And they did.

...More like Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil, See no Evil...
There's a Lot of confusing crud like this in that particular religion because people don't hold bliblical translations to a direct standard and meaning. Especially nowadays, it's become a matter of "I think that's icky so God must hate it too". Putting on a fascade of fighting and further demonizing the ills of the world while wimping out on the fight with the demons in one's own head....so to speak.
Fact of the matter is, it's only Art, it can't hurt you. Only a frail mind let's entertainment subject matter shake their faith, or for that matter alter the path they follow. Only a REAL person's REAL actions should affect that, yet more and more people seem to have closed their eyes to that reality. There's far more sinister things in store for humans in general supposedly born with original sin than can be provided with threats and temptations of damnation. Infact the Demons and devils in most fantasy games are more shallow than the CoT's in this game when all is considered.
...Atleast in the Video Games, the BadGuys rarely win.
[/ QUOTE ]
While I agree wholeheartedly, the way some fundamentalist Christian sects view this sort of thing is that any manifestation of evil (comic book demons, video game necromancers, pea-soup-spitting girls in Mario Puzo novels) means the intent of evil exists in the comic book/game/book, therefore it is very real and has the power to manifest if one is not on guard against it. In their belief these things have actually been infested with evil by the Devil himself in an effort to corrupt the unwitting and tempt them from the path of whatever it is they're on the path of. They honestly believe Old Nick is real and he's running about, higgledy-piggledy getting folks to sin, renounce God and sign their souls away. Only determined vigilance is the key to salvation. There's nothing more important, vital or earth-shattering than naming evil where they see it and working to expunge it.
Can you tell I play a Sisters of Battle army in Warhammer 40k? Naw....
Now, I'll take my pagan gods and complete responsibility for my own actions without that helping of original sin, mkthx. For others, having something that simple to belive in, something that black and white, can be very soothing. They know what is right and what is wrong and they know evil when they see it.
Sometimes simplicity can be bliss. -

It is a pleasure playing a game where the devs and, in particular, the lead designer, not only create an amazing, detailed, rich world but listen to well-reasoned, thoughful player posts, even when those posts disagree with changes made to the game.
Thank you for being thoughtful and thank you for caring about the game.
