    Oh, I'm always for options!
I was only saying that my taste falls firmly in the area of not liking bright lights and/or squiggly energy stuff to represent super-strength/fighting impacts.
Of course, providing such visual additions also adds other conceptual possibilities for the user, so I'm not against it, so long as it doesn't remove the ability to not have it (Yes, I'm speaking backwards from the situation we were given, hehe... In which I say, "fine, fine, keep it, just give me the option to remove/hide it!").

Anyway... between the two of us, we could turn Variant's concise suggestion thread into a multi-novel series about video game visualizations, customization and conceptualization... and other stuff... If we're not careful!
    So, I am backing away...
  3. Important Distinction:

There are Paragon POINTS and they were planned to be and are being handed out once per month to VIPs.

There are Reward TOKENS and they were planned to be given out in bulk for bulk subscriptions, but they ran into a coding/database issue with that and it will only be per month until/unless they work out a way (which they have said they would like to do). They also realize now and informed us that the Reward TOKENS are delivered toward the end of the month and not the beginning.

Please try not to use the word POINTS when talking about Reward TOKENS. It can cause a heap of confusion. And there is enough of that going around already!

OK, one caveat - I still want to see the hit effects on the actual enemies, but I want to get rid of the disco ball lights on Martial Arts, the breaking wind on Street Justice and the "power glows" on Super Strength. We can already do this for representative toggles, so why not representative attack sets?

Yeah, me too! I've always felt this way. I don't know why the standard is to include such things, but... I feel like the character animations and more "realistic" (so to speak) effects are much more awesome/impressive than flashy glowy video game strangeness!
Just my opinions on the matter!
Add in the blue ghostly character effect on Dual Pistols (among many other things in this game, I'm sure).

Next month they'll have another excuse and another piece of content to lure in the impulse buyers.

By February they'll have cranked through the data and they'll know when to release things for maximum profit (hint: It'll be the first of the month, because that's just before most long-term player's start day of the 4th, which was release day) and they'll know how long to leave things on sale.

By next summer they'll introduce yet another currency, or another wait-for-points plan, or something else that ultimately will give them a marginal increase in profits. Three months after that, they'll do it again. And again. And again.

It's not about any specific event. It's all about keeping the players off-balance so that they are unable to budget their money and their time. This makes more money flow toward the game.

It started with the bait-and-switch they pulled when they went back on their promise of giving all the points for a subscription on the initial renewal date. From here it will only get worse, more devious, and more difficult to understand and plan for.

Maybe. Maybe Paragon Studios hasn't succumbed to the evils of gamification and microtransactions, and all the shady coincidences so far have just been accidents. But every time these coincidences happen it looks a little worse. It is making me lose confidence in a company I once trusted.
Okay, but how about the extra 400 points we got, included with the launched promise of 3 months' worth?
  7. I love Regen, but (while both would absolutely work) I think WP works even better due to the already mentioned factors of resists and defense and such and how that is a part of a Werewolf as well.
I mean, heck, you could go with other secondaries too, but yeah... WP is my choice unless you really want the click heal due to preference in playing style or something!
Now, my curiosity begs me to ask what Primary you're going with? Claws?

I've always wanted to make a werewolf character, but I can never come up with something that I'm happy with when in human form...
But wait... Maybe I could go with Claws, but only use Temporary and Pool Power attacks while human and then use a macro/bind to swap toolbars into my Claws attacks upon transformation... !! Thanks!!
    And good luck!

I don't know if there is some technical reason why Rage does not have the No FX option... but, if there is, I'd like to suggest working out that technical hurdle and enabling a No FX option for it, thank you very much.

I'm not sure what the situation is currently, but they're a super friendly and helpful lot. It may take a few days before you hear back, but they likely have a mountain of PMs, so it is understandable.
Of course... sometimes you hear back right away, haha!

And... the monkeys in my brain are forcing me to type this: Are you wanting some kind of Variant of your forum handle?
  10. It really needs to be understood that the delay of ten days (at most, depending on your billing date) plus the extra 400 points we got (400 points for July + August + September is 1,200, yet we got an additional month's worth) puts us all... ahead.

So, thank Paragon Studios for giving us more than they promised us.
Laugh at yourself if you spent all of it already and are miffed because you want more free points now.
Relax... Enjoy... Choose to stick with this game or not.
I'm a critical bastage... and I've got nothing to complain about regarding this.

Have they come off a bit... amateurish/haphazardly (in regards to not being aware what was going on with their new system)? I think so!
    Does that bother/trouble me?
It's cool... Joe down the street sells stuff. He makes mistakes too. Sometimes I make them as well.
Paragon Studios has come through in the past and has been doing so currently as well.
This was a big free issue! Without any additional store or "Freedom" stuff... this was a cool issue. I'm looking forward to more. As usual!
Add in the free points and the additional stuff in the store... and, hey, so far, pretty cool!

Again, I'm a highly critical, budgeted, completionist (used to be anyway) who didn't want this new business model.
Things are okay! Morale is okay! The future looks promising!

Most of this is just opinion... but the fact that we got a full month's EXTRA Points completely makes up for any problem (perceived or otherwise) with a 10 day delay.

All that and a completely remade ultra-mode Atlas Park along with a partially redone Mercy Island!

The way I look at the store is, there are things I don't mind spending money on right away if I have the cash (which I rarely do, because of my limited budget) and there are other things that are out of my price range. So while I can't get them immediately, I can save up my free points and get them later, maybe even on sale.

If the devs start seeing people only spending free points on high cost items
they might decide to reconsider lowering those prices.

We already know they keep separate tally's on free points and purchased points in regards to awarding reward tokens, so they shouldn't have any problem knowing what purchases are being made with free points.
Sure, and that's what I and some others are saying too.
Just with the addition that we'd like to see some of the prices lowered.
So, yeah, back to what you said, (you) "don't see a problem". It's not a problem so much as some of us think it could be better for both sides if the prices were lower for some things.

Who knows... I could be wrong. They should possibly never lower the prices, hehe. I'll let them figure that out, but I'll mention that I don't want to spend 800 nor 600 for the costume slots.
Whether that is because I am a cheap bastage or not... is subjective and for them to decide (in a roundabout way).

If the F2P and Prems want stuff for free from the store, they can sub just like the VIP's do.
Well, that doesn't really discount the opinion that the prices are too high.
I mean, yes, we can only use VIP given points to buy things, but some of us are saying that we'd likely add in real money purchases for things if they were lower priced.
Of course, other people are fine with paying at the current prices. So, all we can do is let Paragon Studios know and then they can decide what to change or not change.

Still... just because we get stuff for free doesn't mean that real money and pricing are completely out of the equation for us VIP peoples.
  14. My agreement with Samuel goes over 900000%!!

I attempt to keep in mind that Paragon Studios is both trying to make money and provide entertainment. And I believe that they realize that those two things go hand-in-hand.
They may have made some mistakes and/or sided on the far side of one of those objectives, but I figure it will be evened out over time.
People make mistakes. They are human, after all... And then there is marketing, who are far less intelligent and not exactly human... So, we have to understand that these things are impeded a bit by these facts.
Hopefully adjustments will be made that we find to be better.
For now, just vote with your wallet.
I approve of them, so far, by giving them my subscription. Anything else will be on a case by case basis.

Where's my bonus for not jumping the gun?
It's like when people with credit card debt want breaks and benefits... Okay, so long as I get them too for not going into debt, thank you very much.

(Separate from debt, specifically, as I am in no way stating that falling into debt is irresponsible!!) It often seems like responsible people's only reward is being responsible while everyone else wants ways to be irresponsible and have the safety of being responsible.
It is very annoying, to say the least...

    ...
Hey you... Take that thinking cap off!
  16. I just want people to consider one similar thing (except... we get to keep this powerset):

Have you ever gone and paid to be in a laser tag at a big game/sporting type placething?
    You give them the money...
They go over the rules, give you the equipment, you get together with your team... And you run (or not run, depending on their rules) out there and shoot your guns at people and designated targets for a brief amount of time.
    And then it is over.
And, quite often (at these types of places)... it was lame, lol.
You don't get your money back.
Should they have provided me with a full detailed video of how all of this would play out before I went and did it?
If I was really that upset about having spent the ten bucks for it... maybe I shouldn't have agreed to spend it then, eh?

Here's the thing... You get to keep this powerset... who knows, maybe one day you'll find a use for it. Or maybe they'll spruce it up and you'll end up liking it. Or maybe they'll nerf it to the point that nobody else plays it and you take up the challenge to solo your way to level 50+++ as a testament to your awesomeness...

Regardless... you threw the money at it. Relax.
If you are convinced you made the wrong decision within one day of buying it... Contact customer service and see if they might help you out.

No, Snow Globe. Please consider this:

Paragon Studios offered something for sale. If anyone bought it without knowledge of the numbers, it is solely the buyer's responsibility. They did not have to buy it under those conditions. They chose to.
Paragon Studios has provided ways to get those numbers.

Now, I do not believe they've done a good job of providing the information, but they have not done anything that it is unethical.
The only thing that their delay (on the release of info) really may have hurt was their own means of making money. They may have made more, right away, by making more potential buyers informed (those who decided to wait).
They released the powerset... and, a day afterward, they presented further information about that powerset.
It was entirely up to the consumer to make their decision of whether to purchase it unseen.

Yes, it takes two to make a sale. However, that does not mean that the seller is at fault for not providing information (or bears any responsibility) if the buyer is unhappy with what they bought without knowing anything "enough" about it.

    The fix is to type:

    /windowscale email 1.0

You'll need to do that for every character. That sets your window scaling to default for just the email window. (You can do that with any window you wish, if you want to have different windows at different scales, by the way. Just change 'email' to 'recipes' or 'chat' or whatever the window name is.)

  20. Great write-up!
And, honestly, I think you crafted a really nice powerset with this one. The combo and finisher mechanics are cool and flow nicely. The whole set seemed to flow nicely, during my time with it in beta.
And that's the other thing... I really enjoyed the feel, look and fun of this set when testing it out. I look forward to working it into an alt or two or seven down the road!!

They couldn't get over the fact that they were never meant to be overpowered killing machines. They were simply meant to unique ATs that served as an award for leveling another character to 50.

In the same vein I don't think they'll ever make powersets bought in the Paragon Market more or less powerful than any other DESPITE people's false hopes to the contrary.
No, I agree. I don't think Paragon Studios would ever look at it that way. As I said in there, for that reason, I'm not worried about it.
I just find the notion, from a customer, to be... I can't find the right word. "Appalling" felt way too strong, but... perhaps "unsettling", hehe.

What Shubbie is saying is entirely from the realm of numbers. It is each and everyone's distinct freedom to attach themselves to whatever aspects of enjoyment they wish... but this game provides far more aspects of enjoyment than straight up numbers, hehe... And the Paragon Studio team always seems to work from that understanding. So, again... I'm not worried about it happening...
I am a bit worried about the men and women that I share this planet with though...
