  1. I'm somewhat confused... I've been seeing a lot of talk about this "bug" (the forums being set to logging you out after 8 hours), but...
No one is talking about the "Go to first new post" option still being a pain, after all this time.

It seems like it is a problem that comes from signing into the forums from different computers, but A) that doesn't mean it should be acting that way... I've always been able to properly use that feature in other forums from multiple machines and B) is this not still an issue others are experiencing?

I don't mind having to log in (what is wrong with you people??) , but having to scroll through posts, and sometimes pages, to get to replies I have not yet read has been annoying since circa 1876.

  3. The concern of EATs could possibly have some hope since they said that Patron Powers will be customizable. That's, at least, a leaning towards not being held by lore to define/lock the colors.

I'm not personally for or against Kheldians getting customization. I'm okay with them limiting it, but any time I have had conversation about it from those that would like the options, I can't argue against it. Options are usually better, in my opinion. May as well make the players happy on that one, since light and their powers can really be any color with great ease of explanation (if necessary).

Suddenly this announcement became a bit less super.

Edit: Only a bit less, though. Having now watched the video, re-colored Hasten looks GOOD!

I certainly understand and want those options, but... just look at the fact that this opens up the door for it to happen down the road.
I know, I know, but seriously, customization is going live for these powers. They did the work to make that happen. Alternate animations are possibilities for the future. We may have to convince them, but at least the hurdle of the UI and it even being an option is gone!

  6. I'd definitely love to have those options. It's not the first time someone has suggested this, so you are not alone.
I can see many hurdles in making it happen, but, as a fan/player, I'd certainly love to have these options.

  8. Yeah, this has been the thing I've been patiently (and sometimes impatiently) waiting for since Issue 16.
Issue 16 was great, but I can't help but feel like it was incomplete (being someone that mainly plays a select few high level characters and makes frequent use of ancillary and power pool powers).

Just getting color and minimal effect options are wonderful.

I'd normally go find appropriate images to celebrate my joy, but this will have to do for now...
    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

EDIT: LOL, Vyver, that might be the best I've seen!

  10. Just for the record (and for the interminably ignorant), as someone who got the exclusive item... As someone that has exclusive items (cape of the four winds, prestige power slide)...
I am very much against maintaining exclusivity of such items, mainly for the reasons outlined by myself and others previously - This game's customization, free from game mechanic restraints, is one of its greatest aspects. The ability to bring to life what you can imagine, via options, options and more options should not be curtailed, but continued to be expanded on and on and on (removing further and further limitations towards achieving the character concept any one of us might come up with at any time).

So... not an immature, selfish, entitled brat here... I'm just someone that wants to see everyone have the cool stuff that I have. I didn't do anything special to get it. I just happened to be around when I had a good chance to get them and made the best of that opportunity. Big deal.
  11. I don't really seem to have any helpful advice for you, but I just wanted to say that I like this idea a lot and may shoot for making one some time.
I never thought about trying to get as much unsuppressed speed as possible as you have and I find that very intriguing.

For whatever it is worth, I feel like MA/SR is the right fit (for me, at least).
I would think that the Kinetic Melee animations might seem too slow. I could be wrong about that... they could work as sort of a pause before blasting into speed again, but I don't know. The major flak that set gets is people thinking it is too slow, mostly because the animations make it appear to be a bit slower than it really is. Still... it could work for you.

Oh... hmmm... what about Staff Fighting? I hadn't thought of that one for this until just now...

    Best of luck!

It was pretty cool and he had some macro'd scripts and such for the various sections.

He was running them back to back and even roleplayed the reasoning for going back. It was pretty cool and entertaining.
That's more what public role-playing is about and those are the great experiences that I love hearing even non-RPers stating how it made for a greater experience for them.

A simple way I tend to look at role-playing in a video game is... A movie is far more enjoyable when you lose yourself in it. When you're so engrossed in it that your heart pumps during the action, you feel the suspense and you get emotional when emotional things occur for the characters, and so on.
Much of that is the same when you're really into being your character and you start to really get into the fights and the encounters and hurdles that the game may throw at you. And it is all made greater by the other people, all playing and role-playing, right there along with you. For me, anyway.

I mean, role-play can be far more than that for me, but in its most basic form, that's what I love about it.

I also happen to just enjoy exploring the inner workings of other people, personalities and characters... when I have the time and energy to go there. Then again, that's something I do in other parts of my life just in psychological and philosphical studies as well as for my profession and other creative endeavors.
In its truest definition, role-playing is the attempt to be guided not by what you think and how you would react, but what a particular other person/character thinks and how they would react.

It honestly can provide some enormous experiences for bettering your perspective. It can allow you to understand other people and different ways of thinking than your own... which also tends to help you better understand yourself as well. All things that go way beyond just playing pretendy fun time (which it is also great for, hehe).

As to your first example... We could hope that they were actually two very prudent, anti-homosexual, close-minded individuals exploring different mindsets in order to potentially grasp greater understanding of opposing views... and thus possibly finding greater tolerance and ability to coexist with others that have differing views.
Also PM me about a bridge I have for sale.

EDIT: Also, I meant to state my agreement and approval of everything Paladin said!

AND... Klaw made me lol as well...

So, get out your notes, Snowglobe, and jot the times down!
  17. And then send me your NA code, because I can't sit around much longer

Hehe, hopefully I'll get that aura another time.
  18. *thumbsup*

We met very briefly at the Boston Meet and Greet!
    *waves*

Follow your dreams, my friend! And nice job, Zwill and Paragon Studios.

Sorry, Arcana, I hadn't clicked on that until now (I was in a rush when I first saw it).

I was waiting for the camera to tilt afterward and for the ships to come by...

Now I am thinking about casting the Paragon Studios team in the roles... But Zwill kinda sorta has to be C3PO... Or Maybe Zwill should play everyone? A One-Man Star Wars: Episode/Issue 24.

    Hmmm...

Thanks for the reply, Zwill. And, lost in my complaints was my recognition of this stuff. Not only do I like the fact that you guys do these promotions at all, I did understand and notice that your plans were way beyond just this Twitter promotion (and that you'd be trying to hand out this aura in many ways, as Paladin had also been reminding people).
My appreciation for your work is sometimes stated, but wasn't included in any of my replies to today... not so much anyways, hehe.

Exactly. All I can ask for (even more than I would, really) is that you recognize/understand that. So, thanks and good job.
And, as I said before, I understand if you guys choose to continue to do things this way. It's got to be somebody's ways and I know that it is not mine, hehe. I may not like it, but... That's life!
Even if I gave this pastime up over any of this, it's not like I'd harbor negativity towards the team nor the game over it. Just wanted to make that all clear. While I have strong opinions and preferences and all, I still get it and understand that it's not my show and that things might work for you guys, even if they don't jive with me.
I may think that things would be better overall by doing it my way, haha, but that and 2 Inf won't get me a Training Enhancement.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time and grasping this stuff.

    It's an odd interaction sometimes...
You're here working and we're sometimes coming here to escape our troubles, which can make our disappointments seem rather out of whack... but that's also sometimes the point, ain't it. Not only are we fans (which already makes us wacky), but we don't really want certain levels of disappointment from what we're looking for the big time fun from.
Anyway... nothing you don't know... just was on my mind.

    And that's even better. Thanks!
Also... Good luck... we're all counting on you!

Seriously though, I'd love to see you guys embrace the practices that other people have expressed earlier: Ditch long-term exclusivity! Always have that plan to make things accessible, even if it is after some time.
I don't know... it just seems like such a nicer and greater practice.
I get that you guys want to make whatever you're offering enticing enough to get people to jump the hoops (whatever they may be for each case), but it truly seems like people are impatient and eager enough that they'll move on the immediate path over patiently waiting for months before they can purchase things in a more normal fashion.

Again... I accept it if you guys disagree and don't go in that direction (with things that I believe you should). Just letting the rest of my rambling peter out...

We are not going to ask permission each and every time we want to run a promotion. We are going to do things that some people don't like. You are invited to voice your displeasure, in a rational and constructive manner, should this occur. We will do what we can to make a promotion appealing to as many people as we possibly can. At the end of the day though, we will disappoint someone. Years of running contests and promotions have shown me that this will happen, no matter what you do.
Yeah, honestly, this is an aspect that I cringe over with the way the community can react.
I'm all there and for it when people want to express their opinions, but I also completely respect that it's not my show to run.
I mean... yeah, ditch all this exclusivity with costumes NAO or else, but... Hehe, but it's not your job to follow my instructions.

Actually... is there someone I can speak with to make that our jobs?

Once again, Zwill, thank you very much for the communications and the efforts to make things work as best as you can manage.

Hopefully you only see these things as disagreements and differences of opinions and never as anything to do with actual personal negativity.
I know you're quite experienced with this stuff, but we're all only human (well, most of you are anyway, muhaha*cough*cough*hack* damnit... Ahem).
  22. To say it a little more succinctly than I did before...

What I don't get (nor like) is the insistence of using costume and customization options as exclusive grabs and carrots.
In-game? Okay, I still prefer a front-loaded character creators, but simply not making options readily available (a straight-up purchase) just seems to create more negativity than it does good.

You'd rather lock something away as an exclusive giveaway than get money for them directly. I just don't get why you're willing to do that to this game. The character creator should continue to be celebrated, not turned into the source of elitism, exclusivity and the negative atmosphere these things will create.

I think the lauded great community around this game partly comes from the friendly nature of this game. The more things become haves and have nots... the worse I'd imagine things will become.
