  1. Haha, I really thought she was going to say it!!

I still think, "It's a moon base, baby" would be the awesomest catch phrase for you, WW *nods*

This may sound a little weird... But I'm really proud of and happy for the Paragon Studios team!
I love what you've done and how much you love what you're doing. It all meshes together to create a great game and a lot of fun to be a part of!

I also agree with Posi, that this game allows us to invest ourselves better than any other mmorpg out there today (My opinion and for my tastes, at least).

Anyways... fun stuff! I hope outsiders see this stuff and come and join to see what they're missing!

Oh man... an All Blaster one sounds like something I have to get in on some time!

I may try and get in on the all Tanker with Amazing Ape tomorrow!

    Very cool!

(And those plants are some great colors!)

You can have the hyphen (So long as no one else has it)!
It's "Change your Forum handle" time!
Assuming they're still doing this (Which I think they are).
I changed mine to get the hyphen as soon as I could, hehe!

    And thanks!

Then again, I could just roll another Kin scrapper and level him up in addition to the rp one.
I've had similar thoughts. Believe me... I'm the kind of person that usually has a character in mind that requires some of the higher level powers... But yeah, I'm just thinking of parking this character (If necessary) for the sake of the RP and the ability to stay within the realm and intriguing backstory of Praetorea.

Who knows... maybe the level 20 limit won't be necessary... But it would be fun if we could still find action in the underground and/or anywhere else within our level ranges (And within Praetorea).

If we stick below 20, perhaps a slow static weekly thing is what is needed.
    *perhaps!!

    Captain_Electric... I love your avatar!!
  6. I've been casually thinking about playing some Praetoreans with a group of people where we plan to stay in Praetorea.
Which, would possibly keep the characters limited to level 20 or thereabouts.

I am not positive that it is a great idea... but instead of just kicking it around internally, I thought I'd kick it out to others here, for a change.

I've been thinking about doing a Loyalist or Powers Division group of Praetoreans who believe in the Empire and the society we've been raised within. Using our powers and abilities for the greater good, to maintain peace and order for our great home.

Different personalities and shifting opinions would add nicely to the mix, of course.

The one thing that has been on my mind is the idea of delaying any drastic shifts and departures from that mindset and core belief of staying loyal to our roles within the Empire (Which may be difficult with the arcs), so that we can enjoy a long and continued RP existence within Praetorea.

Honestly, I plan to (separately) go through each of the arcs with some alts just to experience them somewhat OOCly... But I've been thinking more and more how it could be great to have a core of Role-Players that persist in Praetorea, as opposed to riding the arcs and heading for Prime Earth and the back and forth that may follow.

Honestly, having a Resistance group (From some of our members or other players interested) would be a lot of fun as well, and hopefully we can have great interactions among others who strive for continuous presence within Praetorea as either side (Both in conflict and perhaps some odd mutual endeavors or whatever may arise).

Some RPed espionage could be fun (Although, again, I'd like to focus on delaying major shifts... still, progression must happen, in whatever forms people and characters deem necessary).

    • I'm leaning towards a Kinetic Melee/Will Power Scrapper (But after thinking I'd be a Loyalist, I am now leaning towards a brazen member of the Powers Division... as it seems a better choice for remaining within the Empire and getting up to some fun action and glory seeking there... Perhaps a shift from Powers to Loyalist eventually)

So, yeah... very unfinished thoughts here, but... I usually percolate these things on my own and then share them... but... what the hell... I might benefit from reaching out and discussing it with others.
I'm not in a rush to put this together for GR's launch. I'm patient and am happy to do things however and whenever it works out.

Just a few notes about me and my playstyle (off the cuff here):
    • I'm a medium-heavy role-player, I suppose... I enjoy doing things in-character as much as possible. I use brackets for OOC stuff (And don't mind terribly chatting OOC through sessions, so long as we're not destroying quality IC sessions for ourselves and most importantly for others).
    • I believe in being respectful and not jumping on people's ideas, but trying to collaborate and make it all work for everyone's mutual enjoyment.
    • I'm not huge on knowledge of lore, but I love to learn and follow it (And willing to bend if needed). Honestly, I feel more comfortable with the lore of Praetorea than Prime Earth, hehe (Maybe because it is somewhat new for all of us, so I'm not starting out far behind).
    • I love specific AE missions for our own content (Which, I suppose, if we find the need and want to... could work for beyond level 20 stuff and OOC trips outside of Praetorea [I don't think there is AE in Praetorea... am I wrong?]).
    • I like to play through missions at a casual pace and prefer talking and RPing over action... but prefer a great mix of the two! Fight, discuss things, if relevant or something comes up... move on when the characters deem appropriate, etc.
    • I don't care much for walks on the beach until the sun goes down and so long as I don't get too much sand in anything of mine (clothes or body...).
    • I'm a fun, humorous, reasonable and mature guy, who just likes to immerse himself in a virtual world and play through the mind of someone else for fun and a bit of outside perspective from a fictional character's brain.
    • I prefer a group of mature co-leaders/no-leaders/we're-all-leaders group (Much like my main SG, the Paragon Universe).
    • I'm in New York, East Coast time and can generally be on between 7PM and midnight (And often times much later).
    • I have a wife gamer/role-player who is a quality player in her own right and may or may not be interested in this (have only casually mentioned it in passing once, I think).
    • My play times can be somewhat erratic, though I can generally commit to a weekly night, if we desire it. Some weeks I may be on just about nightly, other weeks I may only get on once. My work and life can have a shifting schedule, hehe.
    • Undecided if we should shoot for a Static Team sort of thing... Perhaps at first, at least. One night a week, get things going... expand on that if/when we desire (People can play and level more if they want... eh, who knows!).

You can see some of my characters on VirtueVerse (linked in my sig).

That was all possibly more info than needed, but whatever!

Feel free to offer ideas and whatever you feel appropriate.
We'll see what, if anything, takes off.

I enjoy reading the happy memories and the recalling of what hooked you/us in and all of that.

Perhaps we'll see you again in the future.

Brand new player... not brand new character.

Obviously if they don't have GR they can't be forced into starting in Praetorea

And yeah... I don't like anything that forces people's hands like that.
I think a game of options, such as this is, should not withhold such an important option, no matter how much they hope to wow them with their brand new starter experience.

In short, Judas Ace was correct (Based on what we've been told, at least) and I agree with Dumpleberry.

To be fair, there are plenty of names tied up on inactive accounts so old and long-inactive that they do not have a global name (/friend a name and then add/edit note to see the global name of that character).

I wasn't around during the time that I've heard global names hadn't been made yet, so correct me if I have misinterpreted that.

    An idea

hehe, see this is a common problem with the server forums (At least this one).
Flippant attitudes towards new comers expressing an idea and trying to reach out and network.
However, I do understand it was just done in silly humor.

So, Last Hero... don't take it the wrong way.
I didn't see anyone "making fun" of you.
They're just a bit silly in the head in this particular forum.
I think it is something in the air or something.

And... have patience... as such specific ideas may take a bit of time for the right people to see this and whatnot.

    Best of luck!!
  17. Well anyway... My apologies if I contributed to dragging things out unnecessarily with my couple of replies.

Lonely hero... I recommend you consider what I said about Super Groups.
Seems like you might benefit from some time to take things in.

Don't get me wrong... I happen to be a fan of trial by fire and learning on the fly. However, I don't ever subscribe to one method for, just about, anything.
So, find what works for you and all. Taking time and meeting others and working your way up, both in social circles and in experience, can be a good thing.
  18. Is there some history with Impish Kat and MB or something...

Here's the part I imagine is the "bad" part:
    Quote:
    ...
Now. Look to the left. See that reg date? I don't normally bother with them, since people can leave and come back, or not come on the forums for a while (or ever.) However, for me it's pretty accurate. I've been playing *consistently* since then (actually since Feb 2005 instead of March, but close enough.) I *predate* bases and global names. I predate villainside and PVP. Would you like to actually have me answer with that degree of experience, or would you prefer getting pissy over getting more information? If the second, I'll just say "Go here: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Main_Page and don't ask anything that's covered there" and leave it at that.

For future reference, that *is* me getting rude, which I'd call perfectly justified in this case. Me answering a question? That tends *not* to be.
He doesn't say, "Look at my reg date... that means me more uber than you" and he doesn't say anything uncalled for.
He is trying to explain things to someone who didn't get it.

Fine, that can be my opinion and Impish Kat can have a different opinion... But eventually you have to let people be the way they wish to be.
You've brought it to MB's attention (And everyone else) already.
MB seems pretty okay with whatever he's done here and in PMs.

I think most reasonable people can be okay with that.

What exactly do you think you're accomplishing by bringing this up over and over, Impish Kat?
We have no history between us.. I have no history with MB... I don't have any problems with anyone here.

If your rules are so stringent, perhaps you really should give it a rest in trying to make others follow them. People have their own ideas and your persistence in trying to point out MB as some sort of villain here is rather odd.

Looks to me like MB was being straight forward.
If you actually read the stuff about the reg date... it is not what it may look like at first glance.

Anyway... I'm not going to get caught up in this, I just figured (Much like Impish Kat probably thinks) that I could help bring a little more understanding for the cause of pleasantness and all that.

    See where simple questions lead!
  19. None for me!
My in-game music is turned to 0 volume and my sound effects and such are at 100% volume.

I'm somewhat of an immersion junkie, that's what I enjoy. Always been that way, hehe.
Maybe some day I should try playing a character that listens to music in ear buds all the time or something.

  20. Nah, I'd say one experience with two people from an SG I've never encountered before shouldn't lead to a sweeping generalization of the entire SG.

For all you know, they may have been two friends who just joined a new SG and that SG hasn't learned who they really are yet or what those players are truly about (If they were that bad).

I'm never one for sweeping generalizations though... And from one experience? No way. Everyone has bad nights. Just about anyone will end up making bad SG invites... things happen.
If I ignored everyone that rubbed me the wrong way, I wouldn't be posting here!

    And...
I have to say, the commonly mentioned notion that "first impressions are everything" is something I consider absolute bunk.
I mean, sure, many people seem to cling to this... consciously and/or subconsciously... But I think it is a mistake.
No matter how many times my first instincts and/or impressions may be correct... those few that may prove me wrong and/or change are far more valuable experiences than what simply sticking with some distorted mental notation based off of the first chain of happenstances upon meeting has to offer.
  21. Not like there's any point to me posting in here, but maybe those silent invisible bunnies that I imagine read and appreciate my posts will get some enjoyment from it...

It's not like Memphis Bill really got out of line with his second reply.
It reminds me of how jerks can consistently be jerks, but often-times it gets accepted... but when a nice person does something a bit jerky (But not even close to what some other true jerk did three times in the past two days) people jump all over them for it.

Hehe... I just find it a bit funny. I think it is poor to not speak up sometimes.
Part of what creates good socialization and community skills can be the repercussions of poor social etiquette.
Absolutely, the door swings both ways... but, I don't see telling someone to go to the Player Questions forum next time and a bit of a reality check thrown in as really out of line.

And I am generally a very nice person and hate seeing anyone act jerky.
Sometimes, people need to say something, whether it is the friendliest thing they could do or not. I'm all for extending a bit of understanding in their direction. It's okay, really, hehe. And no big deal, Impish Kat, we're all free to share our opinions. It just didn't seem like "poor form" to me, regardless if I would have done the same or not (Anyways... none of this is important, hehe).

    Lone Hero...
    Hehe, just relax a bit.
You'd be better served reading more.
I know I've given you the link to paragonwiki in another post.
It truly is a great friend.
    Asking questions is good though
Just, ask in the Questions forum.
And try not to leave the name "A simple question" if you've got multiple questions going on, hehehe.
Not that anyone even jumped on you for that.
It just doesn't speak too well on you (Not a huge deal, just making a suggestion).

Now here's another serious suggestion on the original subject.
And it is sort of an answer about the "how to recruit".
Look for and possibly join an already existing SG.
Get to learn the game and form some friendships and see how things work and such.
Everyone that rushes to make their one-man SG not only sits in an empty SG, wondering how to get more people, but also cuts out another possible member from another group.

Of course, eventually, we all have to try and do things our own and lead things the way we would like to see things being led (If you feel that's your calling).
However, there is something to be said for taking some time to rise up and all.
Joining a Super Group doesn't have to be a permanent decision.
It's a great way to meet people and learn more and, most importantly, have some fun.

    Anyways, just some thoughts.
I hope my bunnies are happy.
  22. That majorly stinks.
I hope it ends up with him getting his stuff back.

Thanks for very kindly providing the link, Christopher!

    About other posts in here.
One should always be mindful that what you post can be seen a number of ways and when you throw a short contrite comment, it may not represent your true feelings well enough to be worth posting.
That, however, is for the poster to decide.
I can certainly understand such a post coming off as poor taste to others, regardless of facts and/or intent behind it.
Quick replies aren't for people to do more research to see what might be the intent behind that poster's words.

Regardless... Not important in the grand scheme of things

Losing your work/art can be a monumental loss, emotionally, sentimentally as well as financially. I hope it works out to a happier ending.

EDIT: Although... it's not quite as bad if everything is backed up and such.
Then the actual perpetrator and crime and potential money being made off of that is what bothers you the most, I'd think.
  23. I've decided... from here on I am pronouncing Praetorea as FRED.

    *nods*
  24. Has it ever been confirmed that the Coming Storm is not the wave upon wave of Praetoreans that will be invading Primal Earth?

Not that I have assumed any such thing, I was just curious if it is confirmed to not be that and/or how/why it couldn't be.

EDIT: By the way, I do enjoy the idea of Nictus/Rikti alliance and bonding... Whether it is or isn't part of the Coming Storm and all
  25. I always find it interesting how people of one language pronounce words from other languages... Mostly in the form of names.

It's always interesting... does a person say the other (foreign) person's name with the accent of that foreigner? Or do they fully use their own accent?

I know this is different from specific pronunciations of words passed from other languages, but there is a similarity that I enjoy.

An example: I have a friend from India whose name is David. I have a friend from New York named David.
When they and/or their family say their David's name, it does not sound like the other one.
It being their name... Shouldn't we say it as their family says it?

Also, yeah, pray and prey is pronounced the same... I think, perhaps, the OP intended a "preh" with the "prey"? Maybe? Just a guess.
