Hehe, yeah... And, honestly, these things really won't be a concern. I mean, they have their codes and they can enforce them, but... when you go to these places, and you see... It's not going to be a problem (Over nitpicky things like that).
Generally speaking (As there are certainly some places that stick to strict dress codes), they have those in place to both guide people to dress better and so that they can use those rules as a reason to deny people.
Not to discount Aveata's reminder and/or to suggest everyone wear sweatpants and 20 year old t-shirts...

I've never been turned away. Hah, I wear jeans and t-shirts into coat and tie places... But that's just the way it goes sometimes. It's not what you wear... But how you wear it!
  2. Hehe... I will wear my jeans and go to the after-party and the club can kiss my brand label.

    That is all.
  3. Yeah, I had created another thread about this to better focus on the actual problem, but I guess they've already been made aware (I hope... so, that should be good news).

Would be cool if we could maybe re-name this thread... the problem is bigger than some broken pieces... Every female head is off kilter!! (Umm... in game... the fake female avatar models... That's what I meant, I swear!)
  4. [No, this is not political commentary ]
I've seen it pointed out a bit here and there, but, by the huge amount of people that were affected by this and talking (freaking/panicking/catching on fire) about it in game... I figured it was worthy of its own thread.

The Female Heads seem to be slightly shifted off-center and this is causing every head detail (details 1, 2 &3 as well as hair and such) to clip through the head and, overall, look very awkward, ugly, poor, monkey-butt-ish (™).

As mentioned here by someone who noticed it just with a few pieces and as Emberly has been documenting in that thread and the main Patch Notes thread (albeit, easily lost in the swarm of CoP discussions).

So, please help our female friends to look better and come out of hiding from their unlit bases, as they wait for a fix for this problem!

Or... you know... There are millions of us who actually love the prequels and don't see it as anything "wrong"!!

Still.. I always think... It must suck to have been a Star Wars fan and not truly like all the Star Wars movies. I have 6 Star Wars movies I can sit and enjoy. I love them. Yahooo!

Indeed. This is a pretty big graphical bug. I hope it gets fixed ASAP

So, the female head is shifted (to the left, is it?) and all other things (including head details) are clipping and awkwardly placed on the head, as a result.

    ACK!!

Many unhappy females hiding in their bases!

    New Aura Preview

Hehe, let's stop the debate about Unlocking vs. Purchasing and just all agree that everything should be part of the normal publishes and available from character creation.

The best you'll get is an approximation and so you wind up with something that looks more like Clash of the Titans than Avatar.
And once Star Wars has been digitized (if it hasn't been already) they'll be able to reverse engineer stereoscopic frames for it as well. Remember when the "artwork" for Avatar was first created it only existed as single images much like the original frame footage of the Star Wars masters. Those art images were processed to create the stereoscopic effect in Avatar much like the frame stills will be used for Star Wars.

I agree that the step-by-step process it took to make Avatar a finished 3D product was different than what it'll take for Star Wars because the "initial" source comes from different media. But once you get these things to the "digital" media form they can be processed in basically the same way to generate the final product.

Admittedly I don't expect Star Wars to look exactly like Avatar.
But I highly doubt it's going to look "bad" no matter how it turns out.

Well, and this is precisely why Lucas has been researching and testing and trying to come up with the right technology in order to achieve that.
When they announced that they wanted to release the saga in theatres in 3D, he said they weren't going to do it until they figured out how they could do it and do it well.
This has been known to be going on and known to have been in the works for quite some time.

We'll see what they managed to pull off and how well they got this to work.

Beyond making money off of the franchise and these movies and continuing its public presence and continuing it on to new generations and all of that...
Lucas does things like this because he is somewhat of an engineer at heart.

An artist doesn't just do things to please others (Nor just to make money)... sometimes it is about overcoming certain obstacles/limitations, breaking down barriers, inventing new ways and new tools.

I think that is what interests him the most about this project.
That and... to some people, the idea is just big dumb fun.

But yeah... the whole reason it's taken all these years to do this is because they had to figure out how to do it to their liking.

I hope this means that they've figured out something pretty impressive.
(Not that the movies in 3D really mean anything more to me... I do, however, see it as a chance for some big dumb fun... an aspect of things that is oft overlooked by the moaning aged-ed people).

  10. If anyone knows me... I'm going!

If you don't know me... I'm still going... And you can then know me there!

Hehe, feel free to say hi and join my PuG

I'll be there with significant other (Also a regular CoH Virtue player).
I had a lot of fun at the Boston Meet and Greet and hopefully this will be even better. I did run around shouting LFG (In double brackets, of course).
People are somewhat shy... But, I had a blast talking with Posi and War Witch and Ocho last time. So, we shall see!
Oh, and I did get to meet some players and forum-goers as well. Chatting with Ransim and friends for a while was very nice! (Ya know... since I'm name dropping... haha)

    Hi!
  11. I just hope that this being a full NCSoft Meet and Greet doesn't crowd it up too much and take away from us CoHers meeting, greeting and talking.
Not to mention the capacity being filled before we get there, hehe.

I'm not counting on those negatives happening or anything... I just hope that none of this negatively impacts what could be a nice chance to meet up and chat with players and CoH developers and such.

Do we need to carve out our own section somehow?
I'd say we could just gather around War Witch, but she's not exactly tall, so that's not as easy as it sounds!
  12. Oh come on... He said they were trying to figure out the technology to pull this off back when Revenge Of The Sith was being released.

It's just another excuse for fans to go and celebrate some Star Wars on the big screen.

And yes... They can make some money from it!

    Win/win.

And yeah... it'd be great if a few of those special edition tweaks can be re-tweaked... but... we'll see (I doubt it).

Back when they first mentioned this... We started wondering what scene you'd most like to see in 3D.

A New Hope's trench run could be fun.
Of course, the opening space scene in Revenge Of The Sith was already dizzying... that could be fun.
And, while it isn't that long, the space battles in Return Of The Jedi should be a lot of fun.

    It's just a goof.
    Not sacrilege

To quote Stripes... "Lighten up, Frances"

(A true remake or redo... yeah, no... this is just applying modern 3D tech to the movies for a bit of fun, fan frenzy, money and whatnot)

They don't make money every time you watch the DVD!!

And yeah... a DVD of the THX remastered Laser Disc prints would be fabulous...

    EDIT:
Oh, also... We'll see the end result, but... theoretically, this is Lucas... pioneering new technology to take old movies and apply a very high quality 3D aspect to existing film (Well, not really film, I'm sure, hehe... HD video... Motion bleedin' Pictures, mate).
Lucas is a pioneer in the industry. Without his lead, the standards, the tech and the thrills would not be the same. I tip my hat and have a bit of trust in the artist.

    Team quit rant

    Welcome to the game!

I think it boils down to this:
    Peoples is peoples.
The average CoH player seems to be a little bit nicer than the average mmorpg player, but... Unfortunately there's no way to keep the bad apples from playing.

Being an *** is being an ***, no matter what the medium or situation, hehe.

Don't you love it how taking on a potentially challenging enemy group (And THAT totally depends on your ATs and/or powersets and whatnot) is noobish, as opposed to, ya know... being a cowardly wimp and avoiding them scary clowns.

Maybe that player has that extreme fear of clowns and was just trying to cover. Poor guy...

    Solo stinks

Some very sound advice in here, so I don't have much to add...
However, you might want to post your build (Powers and slotting) and/or look at other people's builds and suggestions for DM/FA Brutes.
While this game definitely allows you to come up with your own ideas and succeed, you may find some helpful ideas.

You may have already done this, of course. It's just one of the first things to check when someone is having difficulties surviving... Maybe their enhancement slotting is not serving them as well as it could (And I just mean regular enhancements).

So, check and make sure with the community that you're not missing some crucial powers and that both your defenses and attacks are slotted well. Then follow everyone's advice here and hopefully you'll find yourself enjoying the climb up towards 50.

You like the game. You enjoy it. And it tends to be a rather friendly, easy and casual game... So, it sounds like you should be sticking around!
    I hope it works out!

Do you use Mid's Hero Designer?

Oh, and as someone who enjoys soloing a lot (As well as teaming), I definitely seem to shift my solo characters towards teaming as I get into the 40s. Not consciously... but I just seem to end up running teams and/or TFs/SFs often enough with them that the leveling through 40-50 goes well enough. Not that that's my focus, but sometimes I do just want to have all my powers!!
    Hehe
  15. My SG is coalitioned to a great group of people over at Next-Gen.
They have a villain group called Purgatio that are Mutants very much like the Brotherhood, I do believe.
Mutants bent on taking charge before the humans try to wipe them out, I believe.
Here's their forum section for applications (And their explanation).

While I think it is mainly a counter VG to their Hero SG, Next-Gen, I am pretty sure they're fairly active red-side with Purgatio.

I am not sure that they're evil, entirely... However, I have not played with Purgatio any where near as much as with the Next-Gen'ers.
This may be a good fit for you.

    Best of luck!

Yes! Not only will i19 (Has the game been bought out by Apple?) get you your first real taste of the Incarnate System, but future issues will continue to add more levels of the Incarnate System and we plan to keep on introducing more with each issue afterward!

(haha, as far as I know, those answers are legit!)
  19. I'm only riding in the sidecar of my brain currently (successive doses of decongestants are the reason), but...

The Electric-Knight flies by creating a field of static electricity around himself and then using electrical propulsion. Mainly by energizing/ionizing the air around him and the ensuing friction creates motion and... Actually, I can normally explain this better, but...

    Damn it, Jim... I'm a Role-Player not a scientist!!

He also sticks balloons and children to the ceiling for birthday parties, via static cling. I did a bunch of reading up on things one can do with electricity (anyone ever heard of the internets? It uses electricity, apparently) and was very fascinated... Unfortunately, I can't seem to access that information at the moment.
Instead of not posting this, I will hit that submit reply button and see what happens.

Also, DarkRanger uses grappling hooks and such to get up to higher places (He only has slotted-up Hurdle [and now Ninja Run] to aide in that).

All this talk about needing IOs to be able to blap is funny...
I have been and still am blapping away on a Standard IO build. No set bonuses or anything.
Half the fun was not having the defenses and having to BLAP everything down before your green bar disappears (Or the RED bar, depending on how close it gets).

I know, I know... you can do it more effectively and can take on greater odds... But still... It's just a bit silly to talk like this wasn't possible before IOs and like it is no longer possible without them

Yes, I understand that it's just a text box. So is what we get from the contacts (with the original hassle that you had to go poke them "physically" to get the text). But when the text in that box shifts from you being the muscle in someone else's story to the whole story being yours, that's a big improvement, at least IMO.
    I totally agree!
The Tip Missions definitely offer the feeling of our characters making decisions and taking actions on their own. A very welcome dynamic.
Tip Missions and Mission Architect are both great for this... If, one day, we could combine the two...

Also, I have to admit that the Heroic Morality mission didn't work all that smoothly the first time I did it. And, Captain Moodswing is correct in that the assassin didn't just take off in a flash (At least, not for me).

In fact, she stayed there, standing there and I could click her and I got the whole dialog all over again... but this time, no attack. And I could just keep on clicking on her to go through the dialog, but the mission was completed (As I had defeated the doppleganger and gone through it all once already).
So, with that quirk, it was especially odd.

Making stories around individual player characters to cover every single player's character is, of course, an incredibly tricky (And, essentially, impossible) task.
However, the work done has been very fun and probably as close as you can get (considering the difficulty of fitting every character).

That Heroic one, though, could probably use a bit of tweaking to finish up a bit less awkwardly.
If you guys can include effects and animations for NPC departures (And arrivals) that would go a long way to making these encounters even more fun.
If she threw down a giant cloud of black smoke and disappeared... That'd be fantastic.

    CoP Update

I've been meaning to get onto one of these. If the next one is a week from this Saturday, I should be there with the Electric-Knight (Elec/Elec Blaster).

Thanks a lot for running these.
I'm looking forward to doing this (I have not checked it out at all... other than reading through the Beta Thread about it to keep up to speed on it and see how things progressed).

    Hope to see you soon!
