One more thing. LET ME PICK THE STRNEGTHS AND WEAKNESSES!!!!!
I mean, honestly. Why can't I make my guys weak against fire, as long as they have some other things they are strong against. This is [censored] players that cause this one though, making mobs weak against whatever they use (though they can STILL pick they in-game enemies with those weaknesses, so what is the difference). -
I partially blame players for this, but the devs ultimately. If there weren't so many players that tried to take the easy road every chance they got, this would be a non-issue.
But for the Devs
1) WTH is wrong with scaling the experince and rewards on custom mobs
2) Why are we restricted to power sets in the first place? Why can't we have a minimum of "check marks" that we need on individual powers and let us piece meal mobs just like you piece meal your mobs?
I would love to make mobs with Sonic Rifles instead of "screaming". I would like to make a fire based guy with a flamethrower instead of "conjuring". I would like to have Crey Cryo weapon technology instead of "throwing" icicles.
If someone picked a pathetic amount of powers for someone, the XP was worth hardly anything like the civilians in that one Ouro Boros arc. If they were tough opponents, they gave you additional XP like the Freaks, Lost, and Rikti.
Why can't any of my guys summon shield generators? Why does my Stone Melee AV have so few attacks? Why can't we suppliment these guys a little more freely?
Again, give us more options with a MINIMUM of what we have to pick to ensure that people don't cheat. This would fix all the above mentione problems. Instead of making it to where EVERYONE has a ranged attack, make an error appear if 50% of the minions don't have ranged attacks (Lts and above should have ranged options.....period. But you should be able to choose an attack and not pigeon-holed into a certain one.) -
I don't have issues with the thugs directly, but it would still be cool to see them make that transition.
Most certainly the Demons though -
I wanna know how they are going to sell DEMONS DOING GOOD!!! Or even just "lawful" things. A creature that thrives on chaos, evil, and wickedness in general has no place on hero-side.
It would be more thematic, and certainly sell the "redemption" concept if the Demons became angel equivalents. I sure as hell am not going to play with a demon-summoning hero since my immersion will be shot.
On the same lines, it would be sweet if the Thugs became PPD or something like that. Same concept. Why are THUGS doing heroic stuff. -

I hope not. The combos are what ultimately makes me drop my DB characters, even my level 50. I don't like feeling confined.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't see how that is confining. You don't have to do the combos.
I think it is a great idea to a similar combo system inserted into pistols. And I hope they give them to the Corruptor as well and not just the Blaster. -
Guys post this kinda of stuff, and now I know why the methods I used when this market first came out just aren't profitable. Nice job moron. This is one of those things that once a more then a handful try to utilize it, it just isn't as effective.
-
Going with VTron, It really isn't that hard to "blank" out a "double" power. They don't let you use a 1/3 or so of the melee sets with shields. It's not hard to gray out a power if a certain prerequisite is met, in this case "if the character already has conserve power, it will become unavailable."
This is really a non-issue, and don't see why so many people need to go crazy. -

Great - another issue with none of the content we asked for! Vehicles, no. Interplanetary travel, no. increased cap., no.
yeah... I'm sooo excited.
[/ QUOTE ]
Some of us have been asking for Level 35+ Content, Co-Op Content, and what appears to be a revamped Rikti Crash Site for a long time.
Or are you using "we" in the royal sense?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'll add myself to that "we" list.
I'd prefer issue 10 to be: OMG We Fixed All The Bugs!
Instead of: Here's More Shinies And More Bugs To Go With Them!
/sarcasm off

How bout
OMG THEY JUST FIXED SOME MASSIVE BUGS IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS AND SEEM TO BE BRINGING OUT CONTENT VERY FAST RIGHT NOW AND PAYING ATTENTION TO NEW BUGS AND SQAUSHING THEM!!!!

*Trying to Stay Positive Here* Im disappointed to hear about the subject matter of i10's Content. Don't the Ritki already have an Entire Zone ?? (Ritki Crash Site) It sounds like there will be new mishes & other new game content where Ritki are concerned, but was expecting new player content in maybe a lil different way. (Post 50 levels or something else rather super)
The team did SO WELL With i9 on giving players new content of actual value. Was just looking forward to keeping it rolling.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have to mirror Dadzillas feelings here. Issue 10 , 3+ years of Heroes , 1 1/2 years of Villains . . .
And this sounds like Rikti Invasion redux.
I already have a level 50 , I would have loved to see 50+ content. Especially for the release of Issue 10.
This is how I saw it going down:
First of all, more than a few months between Issues, let the anticipation swell a bit before throwing the sharks more chum.
Next, hint on the forum boards at a release of an issue with a new map - not a reopening of an old one with new content. The smell of blood is in the water.
Now you reveal screenshots of maps in zones nobody has ever seen before in either Heroes of Villains with mobs noone has ever fought - not just new guns.
The sharks are cirlcing.
Finally you open the test server to the new Issue 10 with level 50 - 60 content for both Heroes and Villains working together in new zones on . . .
THE RIKTI HOME WORLD ! ! ! ! !
That is worthy of an Issue 10 Release. I was so looking forward to that. Oh well , guess it is back to collecting badges.
[/ QUOTE ]
You guys don't get it.
We WANT a Rikti invasion.
We WANT issue out faster
We DON'T WANT an increase in the cap as it would spread out toons even more and be extra work when all they need to do is create more rewards (Inventions) and more things to do (New Co-op SF) instead. -
[ QUOTE ]
Was overall happy with I9. The only thing that prevents it from recieving 5 stars from me is lack of Temporary Power Inventions. Hopefully, this will be corrected soon.
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope they go a different route with temp powers. Getting access to a few temp powers for being in a group would be great.
*Points a Sig* -
Sandman, Vision, and Hydroman would ALL be examples. It's like saying all Invulns are the same in the comics. Nothing is exact, but you asked fot the basic concept. Don't get defensive since a couple people gave you some examples to answer the question.
Power gamers are still going to min/max and make builds that make no sence conceptually, and the concept gamers are just going to take the set for it's name sake like always.
Don't disagree with a description being needed, but most folks are going to understand the concepts if they have already been wanting something similar. It just clicks. -

[ QUOTE ]
Density - think Vision from the comics..
make yourself super-dense (+Def) or decrease your density (can't attack or be attacked), possibly affect enemies.. make them so dense they can't move and so on.
[/ QUOTE ]
Good. That's not how I saw it when I was voting. and while you might think that, is that how the Devs view it? Is that how everyone else who took the survey viewed it? Personal interpretation shouldn't be as large of a factor as it was.
A general description of the sets and how the Devs think they'd work should have accompanied each of the surveys.
[/ QUOTE ]
How else would density control be used? It is a common concept. Characters with Water or Sand compositions would use density control as their means of defense. -
[ QUOTE ]
They also said we have a voice us it. Give them examples of your density set. Invisiblity in it I'm taking it, like illusion controllers, I love ghosting.
[/ QUOTE ]
Think Sandman. He is the best example of density control. -

In regards to the poll being up for less than 24 hours:
We amassed a ton of votes in that short amount of time. In addition, a large percentage of those votes came from people who signed up for the forums just yesterday, so it's not just the "vocal minority" having their say. A lot of new-to-the-boards players got their voice in this.
In addition, there is a weirdness in the forum software that would force us to re-put up the polls (again) allowing you all a chance to vote twice, and that would have a far greater impact on the poll results than the data we received.
[/ QUOTE ]
You might want to check some of those "recent sign ups"
They are more then likely zealots who thought they were clever by voting many times. And in this case, your poll may have failed. -
Wow. It must be fossel thread week on the CoV forums
-
Where did this old fossel of a thread come from?

I am abstaining from the topic but posting to let _Castle_ know I feel his questions are out of true context and as such results gathered from his questions will ultimately be invalid.
Let the discussion continue.

Are you just spurting flub, or can you explain how they are out of context. I honestly am curious. These sorts of statements are nothing but useless dev harassment w/o any sort of explaination. -

Even if they went with 75% chance base accuracy, then the max chances I listed should still apply. -
These are all concerning PvP

1) You have the default To Hit value (ie no buffs), your target has no Defense value. How often do you WANT to hit him? Conversely, as the defender, how often do you expect to be missed?

50/50.

2) You have the maximum possible To Hit value, and your target has no defense value. How often do you WANT to hit him? Conversely, as the defender, how often do you expect to be missed?

4) You have the maximum possible To Hit value, and your target has the maximum possible defense value. How often do you WANT to hit him? Conversely, as the defender, how often do you expect to be missed?
[/ QUOTE ]
50/50 again.
I feel their should be a 45% maximum increase to ToHit. This would be matched with a 45% maximum defense bonus. For each point of defense up to 45, it would always make you 1% harder to hit.
So let's take a toon with 20 points of defense. If the attacker had no improvements, they would have a 30/70 chance to hit the fellow with 20 defense. If they maxed out accuracy/ToHit then it would Cap them at 75/25. So a chart would look like this:
Defense----------Reg Chance ToHit-----------Maxed Chance Tohit
1-------------------------49/51-------------------------94/6
5-------------------------45/55-------------------------90/10
10------------------------40/60-------------------------85/15
15------------------------35/65-------------------------80/20
20------------------------30/70-------------------------75/25
25------------------------25/75-------------------------70/30
30------------------------20/80-------------------------65/35
35------------------------15/85-------------------------60/40
40------------------------10/90-------------------------55/45
45------------------------05/95-------------------------50/50
This is my take. -

If you're not joking I'll be so
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, not joking, but, yes, being pedantic. The point of economies being a form of PvP is mostly academic and not the idea of PvP most people, or even I, think of when they see the acronym. I was essentially just attemtping to show that there are systems beyond what most people consider and that there is plenty of room for improvement and change.
As for the "Quatloo/Quatlu" thing -- I'd forgotten all about the quote until someone else here on the forums used the term last week. Apparently, I made the same misspelling they did!
[/ QUOTE ] I hope the most important thing you design in this game is what color the buildings are.

Mykonos, I hope you get booted from these servers. YOU sir are the idoit.
In case you don't know what pvp IS, it stands for PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER. Whenever you are in competition, it is YOU VERSUS THEM. Therefore, any type of market or business where the PLAYERS are involved IS a form of PLAYER VERSUS PLAYER. -
Yes.
There seem to be enough zones and variety, they just need to fix all the bugs so we can really test all of them.

[ QUOTE ]
What is the devs problem with people being able to easily transfer inf between toons? Why must I be forced to return to the days of poverty just to put toons on a different server, or play the other side. That is the major reason I dont play Villains or on other servers much, I hate being poor.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't get it. I have never had any issues with any of my toons when it came to finances. There is really no such thing as poor in this game. Just various versions well off. And I never left SG mode except after I hit 50 to build funds for others so they didn't feel like SG mode was a burden. (If you have ever seen the numbers on how much more infamy a 50 gets over a 34, it would make your jaw drop) -
So......basically, we don't ever need to worry about the economy going crazy, since the people who list items for cheap will be the ones getting all the sales regardless if they are big or small.
Well, that's dismisses all those peoples arguments that were worried about an in-game economy taking over. -

Heck, if the maths in this game weren't so secretive and screwy, there wouldn't be any need for people like Arcana and myself on these forums.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never understood why Statesman doesn't understand this.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because then you might make uninformed decisions!
[/ QUOTE ]
In a way.....yes. The less you know numbers wise, the more you are likely to just pick powers that go for flavor, which is what this game was attemping to appeal to. I know personal friends that hate getting lots of numbers thrown at them, as they feel it is sometimes just a major distraction from fun at times. Whether they pulled it off or not is up to you to decide.
(I am neither defending nor condenming the Devs, just giving a proposal of a likely point of view) -
I feel they could tie B drops to arcs and badges earned.
Every 20 or so badges earned nets you a recipe. This would be retro active in the same way the accolades and varying badges have been in the past when patches come out. That way the 50s are all rewarded from being 50, and the newer players have two means of getting those recipes.
