Quote:I must admit, this would help those players who've wanted to get those bonus packs (or whatever they're called!) but haven't been able to, because they don't have or refuse to have (or link) a credit card.
Weren't there a few players here who'd complained about that before? I vaguely recall that happening when the Wedding Pack was introduced. There were several people who would pay for their game using time cards and they were a bit miffed that they would need a CC to pay for those things.
I had a CC before and like most people my age, i went straight to the limit on it. Took me an age to clear it off and now i've ripped it up and i'll never ever have one again. Purely because i know i'ld be too tempted to spend money which i didnt have.
Thats my reasons for not having one anymore anyway -
Quote:Darn - I thought it'd replace a lot when I noticed the threads saying how big the patch on test is - then completely forgot when I wrote my post.
So I'm feeling a little sheepish but we still don't know just how much GR is going to add. I'd imagine it'd be a fair amount and that that will be new assets rather than replacements for existing data... and fairly recent factory-created installation media is still nice to have even if the size doesn't change substantially.
Hmmm.. I might have just about gotten away with that oversight....
So the disks we currently have still only have the data from issues and issues ago . . . . and would take an age to put get back on if something bad happened to your pc
Correct? -
Quote:If people were complaining that we were promised a box set I'd say fair deal, I only recall it being mentioned once though. I wasn't talking to the thread as a whole anyway, so no need to be quite so defensive.
As for the rest of the points. The EU isn't NA.
You can't apply the same logic to both. We're a big group of different countries, they're a pretty freakin' huge unified one. They presumably still get a good return through game stores on PC games, while we're slowly seeing them disappear entirely.
Yes we'd get a few more players if the boxes hit the shelves here. But they're not going to do it if it just ends up wasting more money than it brings in. Deriding them for being fiscally responsible isn't helping, suggestions of how better to spend the money might!
Then what do you suggest ? We've had about 2 plus years nonstop of people suggesting server list merges to solve population situation EU side.
With zero sign or hint of a change happening for the positive, then what else can we do? Just wait for the last EU player to jump ship to the NA?
Edit: And im very defensive when it comes to the EU players/game -
Quote:I'm amazed at the number of people in this thread who have marketing experience.
C'mon, the games four years old and the UK isn't all that big. Game shops barely stock PC games anymore as it is and music CD's have dropped right off the radar too. I'm glad Cryptic isn't wasting the money on putting out a load of boxes that just aren't going to sell. Anyone here who wants a box is probably going to still hit up the Digital Download. Yes it sucks to lose the chance to own a box, but really is it that big a deal?
If people haven't heard about CoH by word of mouth yet then MMO's probably aren't their thing to begin with or they never really planned on buying it.
Now an advert on Steam or getting Penny Arcade to do a comic? That's worth a go, but don't demand they toss money away on something they've already been told is a bad idea.
You missed the point of the thread entirely. A number of us have explained the reasons behind us being annoyed and here is the reason in simplified terms.
- NA gets MA boxset
- EU doesnt but gets told we'll get the next major one [which we accept]
- NA gets GR boxset
- EU doesnt
- NA gets player number increase due to an influx of new players
- EU numbers barely increase due to a lack of "viewability"
- NA numbers continue to grow
- EU numbers continue to gradually slide

Shame they didnt mention more about the future of the game, especially in regards to the dated graphics.
Overall a nice writeup though. -
Quick reply before i run off to work:
I'ld use my character SonOf-damz [obviously be better named in the film] who is on a quest to find his long lost father who has just vanished after doing a routine [for him anyway] mission in the shadow shards.
Film would have to be a trilogy of sorts just like my character ingame.
1st film = his early years. The trying to find clues to the location of his father and getting defeated with ease by villains [no superpowers]. Gets trained and brought up by a martial arts expert. Defends his "home" against a group of supervillains at the end and end scene is him walking off to find his father with his new found powers [ma/sr scrapper].
2nd film = him going through all the clues to his location and heading to the shadow shard. Lots of ambushes by unfaced ninjas who look to be genetically modified. Finally finds location of father by a note written to him signed by his father two years before he dissapeared.
More to come because i really gotta goooooooooo -
Quote:64month + All upgrades
The way I look at it is, CoX for 30 days costs me less than one night at the bar with the guys. That's a 30:1 ratio of entertainment value in favor of CoX.
Worth every penny.
54 months here, a helllllllll of a lot of time spent ingame [almost far too much!] but bought zero of the booster packs.
When i go to town i usually spend between £80 - £100 a night so i cant use that statement -
Is it me or have the forum sections been moved about a bit?

Quote:Dear lord. and this game has been out for how many years? and ive been playing other games with communitys that would rather say f u! then give advice. omg I love you guys! lol. Thank you all very much for all the tips and avice.
I have decided to play on freedom. =) and I have been playing many many differnt at's the past 3 days and I have to say all have their ups and down. I am going to be testing out MM this evning and seeing that it has to offer.
If anybody is on villan side on freedom I will be on a toon that has somthing to do with syfy lol.
Again thank you all for the advice. You guys rock.
Just remember that at the low levels its really only the power choices that seperate the ATs. As you level higher the difference in the "roles" of the ATs become more obvious.
Hope you have fun here! -

So if you're feeling like you've "hit the wall" on content or TFs or Badging or whatever, let me recommend taking a break, finding some true newbs, and offering your assistance... it is, as I said, very rewarding in many ways.
__________________I love teaming with noobs!!!! So far the large majority of "noobs" i've done this to ingame have accepted it as a "welcome to the game" kind of way and have become more vocal which is only a good thing!
Noobs are what make the world turn around! -

Welcome to the game. If you need any information at all, then feel free to send me a message and i'll find some way of helping you out in anything you need. You will meet both nice and bad people within our community but i think you'll find we are mostly nice and open armed
*raises a glass*
Heres hoping you enjoy your time here. The next few months you'll feel very overpowered by the amount of changes/updates coming -
*gets the buster gun* Where are they?
OP: You do realise the next few months are going to be VERY busy months with a lot of game changes right?
We just had DP beta, demons soon, followed by i17, followed closely by GR THEN followed by a [in their own words] issue with the focus being on content content content!
Unhappy that there wasnt more content? Yes of course.
So unhappy that i'ld rant about it? No. This is a bonus issue which we were told was only a possibility to happen. -
Aaaannnndddddd i wont be sleeping for a few nights now

Quote:One global name, 30 characters. Fifteen redside, fifteen blueside.
Could you walk us through the steps to mail from one character on my account to another character on my account?
For instance, say that I send an item from one of my characters to another character that could use the IO.
Does the attachment immediately show up in the sending character's mailbox, because I'm sending it to my global name?
If I log onto yet another character instead of immediately logging into the recieving character, does that mean that this third charcter will get the item instead of the character I intended to send it to?
Does global in-game e-mail have a different e-mail box than e-mail directed to a specific character?
My logical guess would be that instead of appearing in the send box, it'ld now almost instantly appear in your inbox and available to all characters no matter how often you log until you "open the goods inside" as such. -
Mega uber cross my fingers but i know it wont be possible but i'ld never bust you again if it does request here!
Possible to add a US/EU button to e-mails so we can e-mail over influence and things to that nature to eachother? Would make player created US/EU contests much much easier!
You did attempt this with the MA, so pretty please?I promise to never complain again if you do this!
