I only ever make a character with the idea of suprise. I want people to look at my character and think woah i didnt expect THAT from that sort of power combo/character! Two examples of this follows . . . . . .
My old main [which i stopped using years ago sadly], my emp/nrg defender was in a crazy PUG team before and we took on more than we could handle really and i couldnt keep the team healed enough and the entire team wiped except me. So i went from defensive mode to avenge mode [i was cornered so had no choice really] and was able to defeat the remaining enemies and rez everybody upEverybody cheering me on as a defender was awesome and the best feeling ever, was so glad i built it in that way for emergencies and was just . . . well smiling loads after that.
Finally my now main [ill/rad controller] is built for any situation possible really with its power choices, however the one aspect i am proud of though is its damage. roughly 90% dmg buff is great for a controller in my opinion! Anyway this rare time i joined a farm team about 2 years ago, i had the best compliment possible i thought from the team leader who was the fire/kin. He said i was killing stuff faster than most fire/kins he seen farm before . . . . . now to me that was a huge compliment and made me feel happy about myself that i had built that character to the point it was out performing average power combos that were designed to be killing machines! -
Arent the people in Praetoria's basketball courts children? What age level are we looking at here because i thought miss yin was a teenager? In which case there are quite a few around

Gorilla gloves!
Amazing Ape's arms look best when he has his gauntlets on. It would be cool to have that kind of bulk in the hands and forearms with hair/fur and such!
Can i just say i love your character! -
Can anybody care to explain to me why when we invade the HUGGEEEE castle to take the lands back that we wait for the doors to CLOSE before we try and get in?
"Oh this is it, the final battle . . . . . . we must take them by storm! What? You mean the door is open? . . . . . No lets wait for it to close then WE'LL open it!" -

Quote:If by stacking you mean how the enhancements used to work [20+/20++ for example] then no they cannot be stacked. However there is a rule for invention set bonuses called the rule of 5. What this means is that in your active build, you cannot have more than 5 of the exact same set build. Anymore will result in the 6th/7th/8th [etc] being useless and the set bonus not doing anything [the enhancement for the power will still be in effect though]. To make it more obvious this is what i mean.
1)I've gathered from the tuts that Invention Enhancements dont dimish by your leveling. I've also read that they can be stacked. Will stacking negate the ED cap in such a way that I can safely six slot for damage with Invention Enhancements?
Build A has the following set bonuses.
+3% endurance
+3% endurance
+3% endurance
+3% endurance
+3% endurance
+3% endurance
Now only the first 5 +3% will affect your build since the last one takes it over the rule of 5 and becomes useless. However . . . .
Build B has the following set bonuses.
+3% endurance
+3% endurance
+3% endurance
+3% endurance
+3% endurance
+3% endurance
+2% endurance
+2% endurance
+2% endurance
Now while the first 5 +3% endurances will work and the 6th +3% one will not again just as in build A, the 3 +2% endurances will work also because due to the rule of 5, they are not the same value as the 3% and thus are entered into their own rule of 5This way you are indeed able to fill in the gaps of any build or make certain aspects stronger.
Hope that makes sense! -
Welcome back spike! Think you'll find that the game is totally different to the game that you left behind all those years ago, hope you find it for the better though
Lady pretty much covered all the basics so as she said before, if there is any questions about anything in the game [or just general help] then feel free to ask any of us either on here or ingame
Always tell new/returning players this, but dont feel that something might be too much of a "noob" question as nobody here thinks any question is too "noobish". We'll just try and answer to the best of our abilities and if not, point you to the direction of people who do know those situations.
Hope you enjoy your time back and contact me ingame if you want anything [i'll be online most days/time from monday evening afterward for the entire week, busy weekend just gone] on @damz or here on the forums.
But do join those channels! Those channels are a real life saver for quick answers/tfs/raids! As a side note, when you get your character up to at least level 10 [and in primal earth, not Praetoria] then i'll be more than happy to set up a positron taskforce for yourselfYou'll be very happy with just that basic change to the positron you'll remember!
Peace
Damz

How to make them interesting again? Change the entire set up of it, make it a fun PvP game.
In my opinion the whole concept of it should be that you are leading a faction[s] against an opposing faction[s] and should be turned into a defend/attack style map.
This would make multiplayer very interesting for me personally if you started adding rewards to it then, they dont even need to be huge rewards. Just something as small as X recovery buff for X amount of time would be enough to get me interested! [Think about it, Apex TF in 30 mins, glad match in 10 for the buff for those interested]
While im at it, increase the age rating please so you can place bets on those monkeys in the fighting cage in pocket d! There is soooooooo much fun potential there! I know i for one would use any spare playing time between missions there! Long as it was purely random it'ld be always interesting! -
Quote:Or maybe it's StormSurvivor. Especially now he has the option of travel powers as well.
Same here mate, i always judge up the pros and cons of what power to take at that level against eachother. I rarely know what im taking before i get there and the rare times i do . . . . i usually end up taking something else because of something that happened during the last level or two that makes me change my mind to fit the playstyle for that character better.
Yes i took the AoE fear power pool option on my MA/SR scrapper with caltrops! Boy the procs damage on that combo -
Hello and welcome to the game
Are you part of any global channels? These are channels in which players are constantly in contact with eachother no matter what character or server they are on.
If not, the three main channels you should join are Union Chat, Sals Badgehunters and Union Taskforce.
With the increase in things to do in the last year or so for high level characters, a lot of people no longer tend to just "hang around" atlas park but are instead constantly in teams or just chatting over the channels. Also a lot of new characters start off in the new starting zone in Praetoria.
Population numbers in Union have gone up and are at a good level now, however it can seem empty if you arent part of the channels i agree [always a lot of people on recruiting or just talking all the time on them], so if you would like i can quite easily show you around or invite you to teams/those channels
If you are on tomoz, i will be ingame from 9am until midday so post on here when and what character you'll be on and i'll come find you
Edit: Also feel free to message me on here if you have any questions -
One thing that i always say to people getting in to the invention system, you WILL get a spare slot eventually and instead of wasting it, use it on a proc.
One proc i love for example is the ranged chance to hold one, got it on my ill/rads spectral wounds and the amount of times it fires off is quite a lot to be honest. -
I think i have a new fav red name . . . . .. . . any more info oh mr blue?
-
Really want to get into a dom but just cant think of a concept that would suit my playstyle

Quote:Hey thats my favourite AT/character! Theres a reason its so popular and loved!
Ill/Rad Controllers -
So the hype around GR has now indeed settled and christmas has come and gone, so the question here which im suprised nobody has answered yet is . . . .
How many new players [includes returning ones!] has your server kept? Was the last few months a life saver to your server? Did it push your numbers even higher? Made any new player friends?
For myself personally on Union, last few days i've been playing quite a bit and low levels the amount of new players i've ran in to and teamed with has actually been higher than long term playersEven stopped and talked with one person after a posi1 and was talking about his experience so far and giving some small advice in certain things [decent ill/rad he was
].
So for Union, new player wise the last few months has been a good hit! -
Quote:Must . .. . . . make! But surely it'd be worth the money just to make a screenshot of a cyborg hawk-person with fairy wings, steampunk armor, a pink diaper and the playing card aura using/e airguitar on a tiny floating rock in the Shadow Shard just to show that this game allows players to do things other games don't?

Quote:I sometimes wonder if among the unnamed bath losses if there was anyone who we wouldn't necessarily miss.
Like someone who was pushing for ineffective KB power to cause the player to be knocked back by their own force.
I'ld like ONE power to have that to be honest! Of course the damage/effects on it would have to be quite large but boy it'ld be fun! -

While in Ouroboros you caught a glimpse of the future where one of the people you murdered would have actually saved your life in X scenario. Now to save yourself you "flashback" to change your past and thus saving yourself from yourself [the Talos arcs where you fight yourself?] but while also being seen as a hero in the eyes of paragon thus making yourself a vigilante.
You are however unable to find this man/woman who will save your life in the future, somehow the course of time has altered his location and thus you go out looking for him. Along the course of being this vigilante you learn the meaning of what it meant to be a hero and realise that the image of the person saving you in the future wasnt a civilian, but was infact yourself as a hero . . . . . . .
Well thats my quick 30 sec story anywayMight not be very good but might be usefull for inspiration!

Quote:Well, prior dev comments have indicated that the Incarnate material won't necessarily coincide with the issue release schedule. Besides, it's something else (besides events) they can drop between issue releases.
Well yeah but do you agree with me that they wont be PAID FOR content? Maybe in the future after it isnt so new, but i really dont think they will make us PAY for content, we all know how that went down in the other game. -
From Second Measure . . .
Quote:Its a start in the right direction i say!Service with a Smile: In recent years weve worked hard to not just give you all ever-more-engaging content, but also to continue to improve everyones overall experience playing City of Heroes and Villains. Often this comes from updating old content but also in improvements to the way you interact with the game. For example, we are currently working to integrate City of Heroes into the NCsoft Launcher, which will bring with it a significant improvement to the process of downloading and updating the game for all NA and EU (Mac and PC) customers. One of the immediate benefits is that all of our customers will finally benefit from the same launcher and the most up-to-date information; this is the first step in bringing our communities together. Yes something as small as this made me smile
