  1. it happened to me several times in a row on my level 50 villain, but it hasn't happened once(out of 10 tips) on my mid 20's hero, hopefully this helps track it down.

edit: and unlike the above poster I always took one tip, did it, then grabbed another tip. Hope it helps!
  2. stone melee or super strength/anything brutes. You get a few hard hitting powers and a HARD hitting power early with these guys. You also get several knockdowns on both sets which both feels bad *** and makes you take less damage(which means you can keep on running through stuff which is also bad ***). Defensively you're not gonna start seeing yourself be really invincible until the mid to late 20's.
  3. heals are pretty nice, I find as a tank I often prefer buffs/debuffs. Even on 8 man spawns if I find that earths embrace/dull pain is enough to keep me topped off on health(assuming there's some bffs/debuffs flying around) and I imagine fire/regen/willpower have it even better!

Though I bet defense based tanks love healers!

I think his point was that the NON healing sets offer support as well(arguably better support in many circumstances).
  5. I didn't even have to switch my difficulty settings after the change, didn't really notice a drop in dps either.
  6. I'd love, if nothing else, if the gravity controls got the 'floating erratically in the air' like the ghost widow hold.

holy crap, electric sword would be bad ***!
  8. Teleport, the animation on this is perfectly fine for many concpets and INCREDIBLY silly for others. I really like the travel poor but only a couple of my people like sticking both arms way up in the air.

Stun from the energy melee/maniplation, unlike teleport I don't like the baseball pitch punch too much at all.

Fire sword attacks, same problem with teleport I really like the fire sword attacks... sometimes. On some character I don't actually want to create a fire sword, but the fire sword attacks are good.

Complete wishlist. I would love to see alternate animations with implements for all/some blasty/support sets, like a staff/wand.
  9. Yeah I didn't open either link yet, they sounded pretty fishy to me, I'll forward them to support and delete them, thanks for the info.
  10. I received an email from support@NCsoft.com saying that my account was involved in controversial game currency transactions, and it gives me a link to verify my account. I also got a second email that said the same thing, but instead of using my global nc soft account it talks about my Aion account, which I do not, and have never had. This seems a little shady to me so I thought I'd ask here before I click on either link.
  11. I've been here awhile as well and I always thought th egeneral slotting advice was arguable about 1 or 2 acc, mainly on the grounds of classes with higher base accuracy. I've pretty much always heard 2 ACC per attacks unless you really feel like you can get away with one. I personally always slot 2 acc, though that may be because I generally run +3 level(or relentless in the old days(or invinceable in the older old days)) so the extra ACC is important. Additoinally as you are/were only level 19 you are still in DO range, I'd definitely run 2, maybe 3 accuracy's if I was still in DO's.

Everyone focused on the defense aspect of those two powers because the OP asked about the defensive aspect of the two powers not because defense stacking is OP(everything is OP when IO's come into play, except RES stacking because it's basically not possible yet).
  13. The simple way to look at it, is that due to the way the math works out a small amount of extra defense does very little when you already have a small amount, but a small amount of extra defense when you have a lot of defense.

The reason for this is, say an enemy has 50% chance to hit you. if you have 5% defense, the enemy now has a 45% chance to hit you. That's a 10% increase in survivability. Now say you already have 40% defense putting their chance to hit you at 10%. Now you grab 5% defense, they now have a 5% chance to hit you, that DOUBLED your survivability.

So in the long run hover/combat jumping will do very little for you unless you already have a solid defense, they are great powers to complement weave/epic powers/IO's, but by themselves they don't add a whole lot of survivability to blasters. if you're curious about the actual numbers those two powers give, it's about 2.5% with slotting, 1.75 without.

edit: argh, I have been defeated!
  14. Hah, that is a good point, I play mainly villains(and my stone brute who cares about SB most is villain side) so I've mainly been thinking corruptors. It's kind of sad that as far as the team is concerned fulcrum/SB outwieghs all you controls, although I'm sure part of that is that the fire holds(and a few others like grav's) are really hard to see actually doing anything(those black clouds on their faces are kinda hard to notice).
  15. I LOVE fulcrum shift, it is also incredibly awesome, as is is the heal. It's just that SB is SO good for so many people it seems crazy to me to not take it. I've played therm for a bit and I know how annoying it is to keep all those shields up. I personally think all those buffs should be changed to like 10 minutes, sure that could lead to abuse, but i think the gain would be much higher.
  16. ah yes that's clearly what I said, I certainly didn't mean that as an example to show that SB is so good that if that's all they did they'd still be more useful to me than most other AT's. I HATE it when my slaves do things like have fun and help the team in several different ways.

Who cares what those people think? They're not paying for anything, so they shouldn't have a say.
You care what other people think because this is an MMO, you can do whatever you want and disregard what other people think, but as you've seen in this thread some people will choose not to group with you. As a stone brute I'd take a kin who /follows me and auto casts SB on me over most any other partner any day of the week. If I invite a kin to my team that doesn't have SB he better be a cool guy and play really well if he ever wants an invite from me again.

Again I'm a stone brute, so SB benefits me significantly more than other people, but not taking 1 power that's probably the best buff in the whole game and costs you almost nothing seems pretty ludicrous to me. Why NOT make your team significantly more effective for almost no cost?
  18. as a note while I will love you forever for SBing my slow butt, I will also love you forever for fulcrum shift, I don't particularly care about how fast/endurance efficient I am if everything drops in a few seconds from you and another balster/corr annhialate everything in seconds from fulcrum shifted AOE's.
  19. I probably wouldn't boot you from the team after I found out, but I would be looking for another kin to fill the next open spot. Kin is a great set and all, and I like playing with fun people who can play their class well more than I care about speed boost. But assuming nothing about your personality or skill level I invite kins for speed boost, and I'd be pretty dissapointed if they didn't have it. As a note I play stone/stone brute so I benefit HUGELY from speed boost.
  20. Thanks a lot, that's exactly what I was looking for. It'll at least help me get my initial build down till I can actually start testing it.
  21. I was wondering what peoples experience with Dark blast and defensive values was. I hit the soft cap for S/L on my Dark/Sonic build(mid's only ATM), but since I can lead in with tenebrous tentacles/night fall/liquify/anything that lowers to hit I was curious if I really needed to hit the soft cap. I would try and figure it out myself but I don't know exactly how to hit and accuracy are related(it's been a long time since I paid attention to stuff like that).

to summarize, how solid is relying on my dark blasts to cap my defense, and what level should I get my defenses too so they can be capped after I lower their to-hit.
  22. i'd really like a large two handed sword set, also a polearms set.
  23. the rest of the set looks bad though.
  24. change how it looks, maybe, I'd have to see some concept art. Make it more like the other armor toggles? I want to see it implemented in game BEFORE I'd even think about voting that in. There is a gigantic chance that changing it like that would make me drop forever my first 50, first serious villain, favorite character overall. The reason I picked up stone armor was because I got SK'd up to a friends team, saw them granite up, and thought it was one of the most awesome things ever.

There are tons of other powersets where you can get awesome durability and still be able to see/customize your toon. There is only one where you explode into a giant awesome golem.
No other armor sets have toggles that have the feel of power and flavour about them as granite does. I agree with one of the earlier posters, if anything you should make the rest of stone armor more like granite, then maybe I'd run any of the other powers.

I won't quit the game if granite is changed and I don't like it, but you will be killing my absolute favorite character, I hit the cap when the cap was 40 and kept playing him without making real alts. I hit the cap at 50 when it was raised to 50, and I still played him thousands of times more than any of my other characters. I am very much against these changes without getting a VERY good idea what it will look like before the decision is made.
