Quote:We, I did say it was poorly thought out, it was mainly for thematic reasons of having Tankers not just be hard to drop but also hard to slow down in any way. However, I was thinking less of -damage (as you rightly say, theres not that much of it about) and more of -recharge, -tohit, -end, -speed, basically anything that degrades their offensive capacity. At the very least, it'd be cool :-)Two problems.
1. There are very few -Damage buffs in game, so for the most part, excluding -recharge debuffs, the only thing this is doing is improving survivability, which is not something Tankers are in dire need of. Bringing more personal survivability to the table doesn't make Tankers more attractive to people who would normally not play them, it just reinforces the role they are pigeonholed into after we spent a couple pages discussing how being too specialized has hurt Scrappers and Tankers.
2. Second, Tankers draw aggro. The other ATs aren't usually going to be crippled by debuffs because the Tanker is mostly the target of those debuffs. Your suggestion doesn't allow the Tanker to remain strong when everyone else is faltering, it just lets the Tanker falter slightly less while everyone else is oblivious. If anything, if you want to improve the Tanker's lot in life in regards to being debuffed, they should have a power that dumps all aggro onto a selected friendly target and forces them to be attacked, like the Energy Blaster who keeps scattering groups.
.
EDIT: Although, thinking about it, probably only debuff protection from those things and not for defensive stuff would be more appropriate. -
Crazy, not very well thought out AT ideas ahead!
Stalker: When you hit an opponent with AS from hide it applies the 'Marked for Death' status on that enemy for x seconds. Any regular crits against an enemy that is 'marked for death' do triple instead of double damage (or your attacks do extra damage or you have a higher crit chance). If an enemy with 'marked for death' status dies, AS instantly recharges. So, AS a hard target from hide and get a boost to damage against that target for a period afterwards. Or, use AS to instakill a soft target and instantly get AS back to use again.
Tanker: All Tankers to come with large inherent debuff resistances to all debufss (like, all debuffs have half effectiveness/duration). So they may not do as much damage normally, but when other ATs have been crippled by debuffs, the Tanker will have kept a much larger proportion of their effectiveness.
Blaster: All(or most) Blaster primary attacks cause 'wounding', which reduces the magnitude of status effects dealt by that enemy. If a wounded enemy dies, the blaster gets a temp bit of mez protection(i.e. a mini break free). Essentially turning their damage into pre-emptive mez protection for them and their teammates. -
Quote:Technically, the Villain ending for Loyalists gives you this option:I've had a couple of alts go through the Praetorian story line, both went to Primal Earth with the story line of my alt trying to stop Cole's Invasion to Primal Earth.
Is there a way I can have an ending where I am supporting Cole's invasion of Primal Earth?
Thanks.
Quote:Go to the Rogue Isles. Become a Villain. Why would you want to go to help the people of Primal Earth when all they've shown is disdain and hatred towards Praetoria? If you go to the Rogue Isles, you can carve out your own destiny, your own path for power, for glory, for whatever you want. When the time comes that Cole invades, you'll either join alongside him, or fight him off using your new found power. -
I think if the 99 cent thing does work with refer a friend, then that would be a bad thing for Paragon Studios.

Whilst comics would be awesome, I don't think they really fit into the idea of repeat purchase items. People would only buy each issue once. Not to mention the obvious piracy issues.

A few ideas:
Reward tokens: Sell Reward Tokens for 1200. That way, people who want to increase the reward level of their account can spend 1200 on points, get a reward token for that, then spend the 1200 points on another reward token.
Lottery tickets: Sell lottery tickets for 100 points each, at the end of the month, pick one ticket and they win half of the points spent on lottery tickets.
Army of One: A consumable that makes your character count as a team of 8 for purposes of starting TFs/Trials.
Favoured Customer: A consumable that when active gets Wentworths/BM to waive their listing fees.
Self-Inspiration: You get an insp of your choice that has x amounts of uses before it disapears.
Inspiring Presence: Consumable that when active makes all insp drops increase to the next largets size.
AE Hax: A consumable that allows you to get regular rewards from a non-Devs Choice Arc.
Power Incarnate: A consumable that whilst active allows your Incarnate powers to work when exemplared.
Stinkin Badges: A consumable that when active doubles the rate of progress for badge collection.
Proc-spirations: Consumables that when active add additional procs to your attacks. -
Quote:It might be better if you clarified what those 'certain rewards' are. If people could easily tell the effects, they might be more willing to buy.
Windfall Temporary Power
The Windfall Temporary Power increases INF (Influence, Infamy and Information) gain by 25% for one hour. It will also increase drop rates for certain rewards. Once activated, the power cannot be turned off, and another version of the power cannot be activated. Please note: The Windfall Temporary Power will not boost reward drops in PvP Zones, and if your character is in SG mode, INF gain will be diminished.

Quote:Yeah, sounds ok.The Assassin's Strike power provides the user with information on how Assassin's Focus works. Street Justice and Assassin's Focus do use two separate fuels, but they don't work against each other. As a matter of fact, they work with each other. Assassin's Strike builds Combo Levels and consumes Assassin's Focus. Combo Finishers consume Combo Levels and build Assassin's Focus.
Yes, you do have to manage 2 fuels, but I think you'll find the ebb and flow of these two mechanics to be very natural.
Synapse
Any chance of a superawesomeomg!!!!! attack if we use Assassin's Strike when we have max Assassin's Focus and max Combo levels? -
Sounds pretty Thunderbirds-y. Not that bad of an idea, really.

Quote:But purely from a practical standpoint, there will have to be less of the stuff Bob likes (cos more panels/pages/issues of the comic is taken up with Alice stuff, which Bob isn't interested in). Unless more resources are thrown at it.To quote Luthor:
Wrong!
If done correctly, it is usually possible to add elements that Alice will like to a story or game without removing the elements that Bob likes.
My point was: making a change to the way you do things purely so you can be 'More popular' is generally considered bad advice. I'm all for things changing and evolving but those changes should be done for the right reasons. -
Quote:But what if the majority wants is not what entertained you about the product in the first place. What if adding Incarnate raid after incarnate raid broadens the appeal of the game more than adding some nice little story arcs? Or adding full world PvP? There only so many resources and if the aim is to make something that the most people will like, then what any one particular person likes might well have to be sacrificed for the greater good. If the devs really were focussed on increasing the appeal of the game, then the best bet would be to delete the code and run WoW on the servers. Far more people like that, so it would achieve the aims of making a more widely appreciated product.Because we're very nice people, most likely. Also, because the wider the appeal of a commercial piece of entertainment, the more money it brings in. As a fan, I'm not ashamed to say that I want the businesses whose entertainment I enjoy to see great revenue and grow and prosper. And, yes, this includes Paragon Studios. I may be cross at some of their decisions, but I vote with my money and I do wish them much success in the future. My entertainment depends on it
Now you could say: 'Obviously, I meant changes that didn't remove the key points thatmake the product unique' but then, as we have said, each person will have their own different reasons for liking something. Even if you averaged it out, to find some core things most people agreed upon, some things you love about the game would have to be dropped. Is it really better to make something that 1000000 people think is pretty ok rather than something that 50000 love? -

Quote:And overwhelmingly committed against men, whether the murderer is male or female. What I was referring to is that everyone dies.
In terms of murder? Overwhelmingly committed by men, whether the victim is male or female. Your point?
And no point, other than that your 50/50 value seemed to be assuming that real life had no gender bias of its own. -
Apparently when it comes to murders, in the US at least, real life is more like 70/30 (male/female).

They need a scene where dwarf Bob Hoskins eats a mushroom and grows to twice his size!

Quote:What powers does the character have? Do they come from the machine body? If so, I'd say technology.Making a character around the new "Think Tank" and trying to figure out what fits best. Basically, a person's brain was implanted into this mechanical body. In terms of the game, what is the difference with science and technology? Trying to figure what would better fit.

Sebastian Shaw, Strong Guy and Gambit's powers are based on manipulating/transfering/absorbing kinetic energy

Quote:Yeah, its annoying. Its being fixed in Issue 21.5, there will be a special contact added to your list at level 10 who will let let you select any of the SSAs to start. The worst part?
Trying to find the damned contact.
I was looking for the name/ location of the contact, skimming through some threads here to see if I could find that out. Still don't know who it is, or where he is, but I have managed to spoil the "reveal" for myself. -
Hmm... you might well be right. Though could be possible, something like Enervating Field that could be targetted on an ally but only affect enemies?
Or maybe a psuedopet that auto follows the ally it is targetted on?
Would be an interesting power, allow a set to have a damage toggle that only worked whilst teamed. Could be used either to add damage to a melee or used on a squishy it would draw aggro from anything trying to melee them. -
Would it not be possible for you to own the aggro generated though, as its your attack and its just centered on them?

Quote:Praetorian bat'zul might work, and would give it the benefit of making it a PEAT.
Perhaps something along the lines of a Praetorian Bat'Zul, who without Dr. Aeon siphoning off his energy as a power source, and strike forces smacking him down on regular occassions perhaps grows stronger and seeks to spread his power and influence by reaching out by those seared by incredible fire and infusing them with a portion of his infernal might?
Also, just an idea, but since its all kind of toxic/fire themed, some sort of contagion/spread mechanic might be nice. Like, the toxic DoT has a chance to spread to nearby enemies. And some of your buff effects have a chance to jump to nearby allies.
Another idea, what about making one of the damage auras a toggle that you place on an ally, rather than yourself? Would fit in with the idea quite well and give you something a bit more unique.
Ooh, one other thing I thought off. What if all the attacks had some range but the AT had an inherent melee range aura (intense heat or something) that added extra damage/effects to your attacks when targetting enemies within it. So the same attacks would be deadlier if used on enemies in melee.
