  1. Yes, there are two phases you gotta do in under 8 mins. The first time is when the telepathists show up for the first time and the second time is when Maelstrom shows up with the telepathists.

The way that I've been most succesful at getting this badge is by sending everyone inside and completely ignoring the telepathists and Maelstrom. Pull mobs to HD with one team and the other two teams should be hitting techs as soon as they are free.

This is a meaningless paragraph that does nothing to further the discussion. You can boast all you want but I will remain unimpressed as I've gotten the same badges you have... twice.

The fact that you have to preface your badge earning with "I did it when it was..." is a sign of how much nerfing has happened.

The only good thing anyone has said about badge nerfing is that it opens it up to newcomers and is less intimidating. Old badge hunters are leaving game so new blood is always a good thing.

I've gotten all the master badges so all the requirements are reasonable as I'm not the best player nor the best leader. I'm able to gather enough people to form a 24 person TPN, BAF, UG Keyes, or 16 people for Lam, MoM , lead them through and get most if not all the badges. Most often it's half people I know and half PuG. The people I know might be carrying the league but I doubt it. It's all about the AAR: After Action Report. If you fail, figure out what went wrong and fix it. If you succeed, figure out what was right and make it better.

My point is that if you can't get enough people together to get the badges that you want than perhaps it's your leadership that is lacking more than it's that the badges are too hard. Look inward before you look outward. How is it that I regularly succeed where seemingly everyone in this thread regularly fails? I don't know but I can assure you that I'm no Churchill.
  3. You are all trivializing badging. Everything in this game is easy. I've always used badges as a measurement for dedication. It is now failing as that measurement because you all are complaining about how hard it is. Of course it's hard, if it was easy it wouldn't be worth getting. You can be frustrated, irritated, agitated, or down-right infuriarated but don't tell the devs to nerf more badges cause that makes everyone a loser and puts the game on easy mode. And if you wanna play games on easy mode, go get yourself a My Little Pony game and get outta here cause you're ruining it for everyone else.

I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest.
  5. Your data is unreliable. You are not controlling for any variables that determine drop rates outside of completing the trial. Any conclusions you may draw based on this fundamentally flawed data are wrong or right by accident.

Edit: Unless the devs divulge drop rate determination, this exercise on any data set, dev provided or no, is just that, an exercise.

My strategies with reasonable amount of success:

First and foremost, make sure everyone is reading league (or whatever channel you're using). Failure is assured if this is not observed.

Designate a group of damage dealers as the lichen defeaters. Four or five is generally enough. I usually assign it to an (set of) AT(s) (scrappers or blasters generally). Give them " /macro Lich targetcustomnear regernative" to assist in targeting. Everyone else should focus on the AV ignoring the adds. Use the temps liberally. Pulling the second AV to the SE corner is a good strategy, this minimizes the amount of lichens in range of the AV.

Assign one or two targeted healers (emp, pain, thermal) to babysit her. She should hang out in the back of the group for only small sections of the trial (proxy areas). The only time this should really be an issue is in the crystal room. I recommend focusing on two crystals at a time, this seems to focus enough damage to get through the crystals and you're not spreading yourself too thin. I generally get through this without her falling below 80%.

This is the hardest part imo. This requires that everyone is paying attention to chat instructions. I will instruct everyone to stay behind me at all times. I will call the target in league (/macro Tar say >>> $target <<<) and call a charge. I watch the map and call it once I feel I've at least 2/3rds the league right behind me. It is essential that whomever is escorting Des at this point to remain in the back, her demons wander willy nilly about and could trigger a proxy mine. Don't lolly gag too much as people will get impatient and trigger happy. The first couple of bombs are spaced out so that's a good place to make sure everyone is on the same page. If you notice that the bomb is being triggered early or your count is getting below seven-ish before you've defeated it, don't hesitate to reemphasize the details.

The "gauntlet" is where most of my runs have failed on this badge. I've found the best way is to split into 3 teams. Team 1 and 2 should be mostly melee damage. Team 3 should be concentrated on high damage range ATs. I assign team 1 to the left side of the hall, team 2 to the right side of the hall, and team 3 too attack the closest bomb, that is help the team that is furthest "behind." Team 3 can use "/macro Bomb targetcustomnear demolition" to help in targeting. I always emphasize that no bombs should be skipped and that no one should move to the next bomb until the one they are targeting is defeated. That way everyone moves as a unit.

This one is part luck and part planning. Bombs spawn about every 30 seconds and are spawned for 10 seconds. The final AV must be defeated within the 10 seconds the bomb is spawned to earn this badge. The league leader should pay attention to these timers in the trial window. I will generally give directions in team chat for my team to hold attacking to try and time AV defeat to get the badge.

Those are my two cents. Good luck.

You are a badger if you've one toon with over 800 badges.

You are a hardcore badger if you've two or more toons with over 800 badges.

EDIT: Let me expand... prior to going rogue, many badgers created two badgers, one for hero side badging and one for villian side badging. I seriously salute those who carried on with both badgers once going rogue came along.

Badges are badges are badges. I got most of them on my main before they were nerfed but after ED and before IOs. Having said that, "nerfing" badges is not important. I know when I got mine... I know how effing agitating, irritating, and satisfying it was, I really don't give a rip what anyone else says about them. Plus, now I can be crotchety and start most of my sentences with "well, back in my day..." up-hill-both-ways-bare-foot kinda crap which is funny to me.

Added bonus, brings more people into badging with decreasing the requirements which, in my opinion, is always a good thing. It's all about the community and exclusion leads to death. Elitism is for the weak.

    Master of Lambda

I've got this on three toons now and I've found that not only is AT important but team distribution is important too. Correct me here if I'm wrong... but I believe kins will only fulcrum shift those on their team and no one else in the league.

What this means is that it is important to have at least two of each type you want around to do team buffs... pains kins and rads to mention a few.

Sonics, colds, thermals, traps, TAs, pains, rads, stormies, dark and poison are all good to have around (in no particular order). Other support are okay... empathy for fort, FF.... not so much except for damage mitigation from the incoming mobs, though not as critical with many toons taking barrier as their destiny power.

Corrs are the best since they damage and buff, fenders next, then MMs and trollers. Then blasters would be next for exotic damage, doms follow closely, followed by pretty much everything else. Having a tank/brute/durable scrapper is probably a good idea for keeping Mar's attention, but not too many.

Having lore pets is a bonus as well. Seers are good to have around when taking on Mar as they do psionic damage and pop every 15 mins or so (depending on lag) so pop em right when the fight starts and pop em at the end when they're up again. Helpful for getting over the unstoppable hump.

Both my badgers are s/l heavy (MA/SR scrapper and WM/SD brute) so I justify bringing them along cause I led runs on them... I feel like leading mitigates some of the specific toon drawbacks.

More -res is all I can say for this... with a side of +dam. Best of luck to everyone who has yet to get it. Look me up if you're going for a try and maybe I can lend a toon to assist.

That said, it still is a PvP zone and all is fair game. A player can be nice and leave you alone to badge but they do NOT have to. It's just the same when people have their little 1v1 duels under the Recluse's Victory atlas statue. It's still perfectly fair if some lame stalker sneaks up and kills one of them.

It's all things based upon friendly agreement between the players. The PvPer who keeps killing you isn't breaking any rule...he's just being a jerk about it.

And this is coming from an all-human PB who is far from a PvPer. I dealt with more than my share of these types. Unfortunately you just have to kind of work around them.
If someone attacks you in a PvP zone, they are neither "lame" nor a "jerk". The assumption that the PvPer is malicious is probably insulting to the PvPer. In the same sense that maybe the PvPer thinks I am a loser for collecting intangible baubles. Who would run the first mission of the KHTF for 16 hours a day, 3 days in a row, on DXP weekend? Seems pretty silly if you don't care about badges.

It seems generally people are demarcating between PvPers and badgers... this seems rather arbitrary. It's a slippery slope to elitism and discrimination. I like my badges. Others like PvP. I'm not better or worse than them because of this.

    PvP badges

So, I'm clearly new to the boards here, but I've a question that may have been already fleshed out, so pardon my laziness from searching....

I don't understand why some people get worked up about the PvP badges. A PvP zone is just that. It seems that one should expect to have to PvP to get the PvP badges (I did when I got them). Why whine and moan when a stalker assasin's strikes you when you are working on a pillbox? Welcome to PvP. I know it's irritating and frustrating, but it's a PvP zone. It wouldn't be quite as rewarding to get all the badges if the they were handed out like candy.

I ask because I just watched someone, player A, kick another person, player B, from a badge channel for PvPing. I got the impression that Player A was trying to badge in the PvP zone and Player B was attacking them. So in retribution, player A, who was a Mod in said channel, kicked player B. There was nothing happening in the channel...

Now admittedly, I may not know the whole story, but it seems awfully childish to punish someone for using a zone as intended.

    Am I alone in this?...
