    Can I cry now?

    Edit: Rephrasing comments...

A.E. has never given me the impression it was a good place to take teams and level through interesting missions. It seems to be a Farm haven for instant gratification players.

I despise AE and for what it has done to the game. AE farming is a curse.
  3. I've been gone as long if not longer. I noticed we can have two builds to flip back and forth from at the trainer now.

Instead of respec, he can simply make his second build and see if it works out also.
  4. Heh I keep reading about Atlas park and it makes me contemplate why even even be on blue side. I am ONLY there cause I have to get a 20 to unlock the other arch types.

Red side may be lower pop, but I found it not such a turn off by player behavior. Sure it has it's bad seeds that visit or are there, but nothing to the level of my first experience in Atlas park.

The broadcast is pretty bad. I was wondering why with so many players and chatting that my LFT didn't catch any eyes for a long period. I guess regular players who don't jump on free farms all evening don't even look at broadcast.

From a old account but long time rusty player the atmosphere I see is disappointing. I'm seeing things from a different prospective than most of you who have been here a long time. I see it from the Newbie view, minus being a newbie with no experiences.

The reality is most of you who do read this probably can't do anything about the behavior of the community or have much influence. The community of Heroes side is going to turn off many new players.

Community is segmented and on the surface pretty arrogant, rude, and childish in Atlas. That is the perception it gives off. Then the dark side of AE....creating the Farm mentality. In general it gives me the impression that most just bypass the original content to just power level their way in these AE farms.

It's really sad the way it looks ... Most of my time was pre AE...when people socialized were in general pleasant..and did actual missions and story arcs. It seems its degraded as a community to me.

Disclaimer: Generalization in relation to what I have read about Atlas in this post to concur, emphasize some points, and give a prospective from an outsider.

This does not mean there is not pleasant and fun people. You have to get past the crap to see the jewels hidden. How many new players you think will make the effort to see past this? I don't think very many... I think many will learn to pick up these bad habits by examples they see from YOU the veterans. LFF will be worse than ever.

In recent months / years, Nvidia has been pulling back support for many of the "high-end" gaming features exposed through OpenGL, and there has been no fixes or updates... till yesterday.

    http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...item&px=OTE5Mg

Phoronix reports that Nvidia issued a binary update for Linux in which the only change listed... was for Nvidia 3D Vision under OpenGL.

Typically Nvidia only does feature changes like this when a major corporation tells Nvidia to do so. E.G. Nvidia pretty much only supports SLI under their Linux driver because HP wanted it. So somebody out there is leaning on Nvidia to get the 3D Vision support for OpenGL into some kind of shape.

Does this mean CoH will benefit from Nvidia dedicating resources to Steroescopic 3D and OpenGL? Too early to tell, but at least it's a step in the right direction.
Old post but I thought I chime in on how I have been searching about it..and still nothing about it but seeing this post.

I certainly don't understand why I can't use my 3d in COH but games like "Dark Age of Camelot" has it!??!?!

I wish this game allowed it. It would really change the experience for me. All of my old games I have pulled out to play in 3d and it really makes play through much more replay fun.

Well I had several in the 40s on return and Arachnos classes were unlocked. No queue or anything. I went to create and they were ready to go.

I never ever played a Zero i mean Hero ....so I was just simply clueless on the unlock.
It makes sense now that I got the explanation. I have to level on Hero side without praetoria.

It's the only thing I have not done.

On the other hand, a scrapper that starts in Praetoria and moves to the Rogue Isles and is never a hero would still unlock the hero archetype.
ABOUT 2: Umm I have a level 20 tanker in shark head and a level 22 scrapper in shark head islands... it has not unlocked....

    something is wrong then.
  9. I had returned long ago after a year to play Rogue. I made a brute and carried it over to heroes side for my first time. (never played heroes just villains) Still I can not play the epic arch types.

So after a month of playing Rogue I quit and now returned. This time I made a Dom and leveled to 22 in Heroe side after leaving Praetoria. Still no message about unlocking the arch classes.

I am stumped on what to do. I tried what another old thread suggested. By leveling once on heroes side to have it trigger. It did not trigger.

What do I do folks? I want to try those two arch types still. I am at a loss.

Note: When i returned I was able to roll Arachnos archtypes...it was already unlocked so I have no clue how they got unlocked. I quit long before it was even implemented. Clueless on how it unlocked.

I don't disagree with this. I also think the alternative is also adding some endurance enhancements to all skills will add up also. I am not solely dependent on one skill to drain.

So if you consider the application of SF,Aura,Chain fences, and Zappityzap.... those endurance enhances will add up nicely to your team.

Is it necessary ..probably not. I think the flexibility of how we can slot really is great here. More sleep, more hold, more immobile, or Vampire more End. What ever one goes it all is great to have for a team.
  11. Prime Time PST evenings.

I do find teams still. Takes a bit of broadcasting and zone jumping at times. I expected things to get more busy red side. It seems the opposite in comparison to Pre GR.
  12. I have to mention something of concern to me. Now that GR has ran its new shiny course, I see a big difference in population on Red Side. Now I still find teams but it seems a bit slower going. I see less people as of late by the Cap BM on average.

So this is what I suspect. I suspect many players have moved their Villain AT’s to Hero side. And or made toons just to go hero.

I say this because I went to GR to toy around and it was very slow around NP. I went over to Imperial. Same thing. Just felt like people went on vacation. Slim pickings out there for teams. Seeing mostly a random street sweeping solo person. I then just logged into my Villain and checked out Rogue Isles. I saw the same thing.

*note: between my logs on toons our server was red 3 dots.*

This makes me think if we have a huge population online….they must be mostly on Heroes. This is the con of GR launch I felt would happen.
I was really hoping for more blue to cross over to Red. Instead it is the other way around. It is severely disappointing for me since I love Red side for only one reason. I hate good guys! I always play the bad guys and has been my thing. I feel like if I want to continue to meet a lot of people and group often, I am going to have to cross over my Villains to Heroes now.

Do you feel the same way about where the population shift went? This isn’t the sky is falling on Villains. I just feel a bit disappointed that the results of GR has hurt red side population.( perception I have ..may not be true)

I use jolting first thing to stop them in their tracks..then hit chain fences ... I then just simply repeat those two to keep the sap going and interrupting with jolt till sleep is ready (that is if it is needed).

Some builds may find this tougher..since I am a empathy guy...no problem. I am controlling and healing.

Edit: in heat of battle sometimes my team will sit on my SF anyway...so even if some mobs get past my reaction times...they get slept on the current SF.

Cons: I have one flaw in teams. I do need a team that grabs agro off me asap...all the time. Be it a cor , defender, blaster, ..what ever...just keep the mobs angry at you.. If my team does that, I can heal through it all for them ..and sap everything down. Clearing up this Con a bit. Things like Boss mobs.
They resist everything i have often sometimes. (depending if we are on +3 or something) Any mob that is hard hitting that doesn't get slept, zaped, teslad that is chasing me around...is my bane.
  16. You should try a electric/heal support sometime. Its sickening how much influence you have in battles. I recall one of my teams in sheer panic cause of a huge ambush incoming and we just had two clusters agro... I just planted myself down by the group...SF,chain,jolt, heal..rinse and repeat... not one person went in red or even 50% health...and my stamina bar stayed full.

My god I have built the super healer with never ending stamina pool! =p

I would like to mention I have a Earth/Rad who is also very solid and I love to. But he doesn't touch my electric in the game of stamina battles. I feel like I am too strong in the sense of team support build.
really I do...sure I cant kill a rikiti monkey without brawl or sands of mu. put me on a team and they are a powerhouse no matter what the make up.

I normally interject on teams I judge can not do the rush door thing without failing by team performance form prev mish. There are some teams better off killing their way for sure.

Other teams I have helped or did the leading ...its cause we moved as a team..waited for everyone... locked down the door once inside to clear every wave first.

Without that team work...its auto fail trickling into the bank.

I can't give you the answer for that at this time. If you would like some answers, try the general AT section. Good question I don't have an answer for.

So far PSI is working out since I can debuff attack rate....I do my thing with Static/chain fences/knockdown spark thing ... Then I pounce in as the sleep ticks again.
From there I target the hardest mobs and do what I can do dmg and debuff them with my PSI ranged attacks (one point blank one also).

It's working so far...cause there are times I need to get the F out of Dodge. I just pounce out continue to hit chain fences (which does some decent drain on several applications. And focus my attacks on things like Man Slayers, Big Dogs, and so on or Tesla Cage those Suits and have a mezz war with other mezzing mobs.

The Psi offers flexibility that I need due to being a Dom. I can't always be in the thick of it and keep myself alive on my teams. Unlike my Controller Electric/Empathy.

Does this help you understand how I use it? if not go ahead and ask questions.

The Stalker has run to the end of the mission, the Brute tore down the hallway to fill up her bar, and the Mastermind is AFK with the pets on auto-aggro.

Now, I don't know what level of difficulty people play on, but when I hear that people just "steam roll" everything I have to imagine it's something very easy.
Depending on level range but on teams I was doing at 40+ .. steam roll is what we do with a great team. It's crazy stuff ..charging head first into nothing but a wall of purple and coming out of it laughing. Then staring down the hall at the next cluster going "You are so owned". =p

It's not like this every team....but for the most part as a Red only guy ...it seems to be the case with Red. Solid teams just steam roll.

Now as you pointed out....yes the AFK villain MM ...hate them with every fiber of my being.
The stalker who runs off solo ....they get kicked pretty fast from my experience. And I think its pretty common to see more idiot players choosing Stalker vs Good players. It seems to have a stupid player magnet with that AT.

Back to the show...had to get that straight.

    New Dom tonight

I am going to try Electric/PSi for now. I am steering away from Dots because I do not want my static field broken on my mobs by it. I am trying to minimize kicking stuff out of the herd, breaking of my static sleep, and be able to pop in and out and still attack.

    So I am needing range
Needing some extra like debuffs from my attacks

PSI seems to fit the bill. My play style with electric controller has gotten me very used to using the controls and combos with it to maximize my end drain on all mobs for my team..at the same time now that I can't heal...being a DOM I want to avoid anything that may cause me to get killed on my own doing... For instance breaking my own sleep by dot... =)

Thanks for all the suggestions... I simply rely a lot on Static on the way I Hold mobs with Electric. To mess that up by KB or dots would be bad for my health.
  22. Question on the Lightning Field:

I am a low level tanker Elec/Mace and I read that I can slot Taunt in the field itself. Now I have acc x2 and taunt in it for now being low level.

Why 2 dmg slots vs taunts? I mean the dmg is bleh anyway...
  23. I don't see the tie in to Praetoria difficulty to the Primal Earth additions like Super annoying electric stunner of control hell.

Since GR runs on a non slider function vs Primal and specific type of mobs there and map layouts..to me its like a alternate universe inside of COX.

All I know is I have done nothing but team play on many toons through GR. Without nitpicking all the stuff one may be able to do, I can say that in Praetoria one is more prone to working tighter as a team vs as loosely as we were in Primal Earth.

Seems that slightly leaning towards a more forced to teamwork + tactic leaning environment in the low levels there vs Mercy Island to me.

As for difficulty....I don't feel it is difficult at all. Just not played as loosely as the Primal earth 1-20 experience. A solid team that applies communication and tight team work will do fine.. this is usually later in levels in the past....its being introduced at younger levels it seems.

AS for IO,SO,DO ....I will leave that to the Number Crunching guys to evaluate and comment on.

I am with PanzerWaffles (heheh) on this one.

I have two builds on my Spider.... Main one is my Crab build. Second is the Bane. I have dabbled with both and flip according to team I have. Sometimes the Bane is more useful because of his Execution skull crushing attacks and focus dps. Sometimes my team could use more aoe...so I go to the Crab for all my aoe he has loaded up.

By the way if you have Crab build on any of your 2 builds you can switch to...you will always have Spider Legs.... only thing that annoys me....

    Capes

Its been different on my Controller, Tanker, and Scrapper ....

Either I have to do Operative Burch take down ..then get cape mish..or she just gives it to me.

Then when it came to Aura... on one alt I had to do the Serus take down first...then get my Aura mish. Other alt...didnt have to.

Its very inconsistent I tell yah.
