(It can be useful for PVP, in Incarnate Trials, when you need an endurance boost, or when you're no longer softcapped for being exemplared down to level 33 or higher, but once your chara reaches the defense softcap, you'll use Elude very rarely.)

You can move one slot from Elude to Health and Stamina. The Performance Shifter proc avoids diminishing returns and on average offers more endurance per second than the first lv. 50 IO, so you could very well use a second copy here. For Health, I'd recommend a Numina's Reconvalescece +Heal/+Recovery, or, if you have the resources, a Miracle: +Recovery. This should take care of your endurance problems.

You didn't slot Energy Torrent, so I assume you're not relying too much on that power. Maybe you could replace it with Combat Jumping? That power costs almost no endurance to run, slightly increases your defense, and could even take a special IO (like the Kismet +ToHit or a Luck of the Gambler: +Recharge) later on.

There are some set bonuses for positional defense, but since Super Reflexes can softcap without the need for defense set bonuses, I wouldn't use set bonuses for defense but build for something else, like recharge.

Finally, if you don't mind the cost (or the effort to earn all those hero merits), an easy way to get more defense is putting the PVP +3% defense IO in Tough. (Note that the bonus will be active even if you are not actually using Tough.)

    Pretty much.

I took the liberty of playign around with your build and making it softcapped. Might have some end issues for a bit, if they persist look into Cardiac Alpha or Muscular Radial.

And you'll probably want to keep Defensive Sweep since it will help your melee def at least until you have enough slots to overcome your end issues and add shenanigans like Weave and IOs (I know I'll keep it on my TW/EA because EA is hell on the blue bar until level 35 - mine's a scrapper so she'll only have Energy Drain at that level, then I can respec out of it and add weave, maneuvers, etc)
It's also worth keeping on a toon that's at 32.5% S/L. Your melee should be 40ish if not softcapped, helping a lot. In addition your Smashing should be softcapped or nearly so, if you have a LotG in it.

Right now the main one I'm running is a TW/FA Brute. Only level 23 now, still a bit on the squishy side (Very little defense in it, sadly) but between the damage aura and the cones it kills things, FAST.

Also with SOs it's just under 90% Fire Res, meaning I can farm a bit if I want.

Yeah, my main is a Inv/SS tank and she can laugh off a LOT of stuff.

    WP is still awesome though.
  4. Made a few small changes, take a look and tell me if you like it.

Took out Physical Perfection for Hasten and moves a slot from Tough Hide and Stamina. The drop in Recovery can be made up by getting the Atlas Medallion and Portal Jockey Accolades.

Also I'd look into the Cardiac Alpha to boost your Damage Resiatance and drop your Endurance Costs.

  5. I'm having a lot of fun with Titan Weapons so far and decided to pair it with FA. It's at level 21 now, and I am SO gratful for Consume.

The build will have S/L Defense just over 32.5% def and E/N just under it before I start using Enhancement Boosters to bring Kinetic Combat up to par and bring the toggle cost down to 1.23 per sec. Defensive Sweep will also be slotted with a LotG Def/Global which will softcap Smashing and near softcap Melee.

Global Recharge is a little low at 45%, but it should be more than enough to keep swinging. It'll have 3 -KB IOs to ensure I can stay on my feet through ANYTHING.

Superior Conditioning should help out the old blue bar.

I do plan to spec out with Enhancement Boosters eventually, but at the start priority will be for endurance reduction in toggles and the lower level Damage Sets.

Lastly the powers are not in the order I have taken, I'm just using Mids for numbers. Fly, Blazing Aura and Combat Jumping, for example, were all taken before level 14.

If anyone has any advice, feel free to give. If you like it I won't whine if you use it.

Swap your Steadfast +3% into Mind Over Body and move the Glad +3% into Strenght of Will. The Steadfast one also gives a boost to Resistance, remember.

Also if you can get/afford Enhancement Boosters you should slot your attacks with them. They'll be a lot more competitive (To enhance them in Mids right click, hit + or - then slot the IO).

Beyond that, while your build won't pack the most punch it will be VERY survivable to almost anything.

SPEAKING of which, (I forget if it was brought up before, 2:30 AM here) Titan Weapons and Willpower work well together. TW is end heavy, so pairing it with Willpower makes sense. It also has a LOT of Knockdown in it's attacks, a -res/-def power, PLUS a +Def power for you. Sure, only Melee and Smashing defense, but in the early levels this will help.

TW is also AoE heavy and can knock crowds down in little time, but you need to practice aiming your cones for this. It also has three ST attacks, which should help taking down hard targets.
  8. I imagine TW/FA would be quite effective as well, TW/FA/MU even more so. TW brings four AoEs to the table (Three cones and one PBAoE) and when your neck deep in targets you don't NEED to aim a cone, just swing for the fences. In addition if you have Momentum built up redraw is a non issue.

ON the down side, you do need to worry about the Momentum mechanic, and if you really, REALLY hate redraw then this isn't for you.
  9. I myself tend to get the IO Procs at the lowest level possible, and usually as soon as I can (Steadfast Res/+3%, Miracle and Numina Procs, ect) and set IOs at their highest (Kinetic Combat at 35, for example). Until then I rely on SOs/Common IOs, and they often make a huge difference in what I can do.

If I'm playing a Firey Aura or Dark Armour build then I will get -KB IOs ASAP, even if I need to e-mail them from another toon.

But I would agree that, at standard difficulty, the game is balanced around SOs, or at least with SOs in mind. The higher difficulty sliders are there for those who want a challenge or with speced out IO builds.

    That's another good point.

I still say one Interupt to avoid lucky hits, but yeah.
  11. I'm running a MA/WP right now and it's working pretty good. My advice is to softcap S/L first and foremost and raise E/N to 32.5% at least. If you can get E/N to softcap as well, power to you.

Kinetic Combat can now be slotted with Enhancement Boosters. At +5 they are comparable to a level 50 IO giving you both the set bonuses (+3.75& S/L Def) and better increases to your power. This is, of course, assuming you can get/afford them.

I would also recommend Cobra Strike over Crane Kick. Sure, CK may offer better mitigation, but I HATE chasing down enemies. And I STILL remember teaming in a TF with an MA with Crane Kick who kept knocking away everything I was targeting. So if you team a lot I highly, highly recommend dropping Crane Kick.

Unless the Devs turn CK from knockBACK to knockDOWN, then get back on board.

If you're going the leaping pool you can also get Spring Attack for extra AoE. SA is, more or less, a watered down version of Shield Charge. Less damage and more recharge time, but still does decent damage. At least it can be used to mule a set.

Not to mention that you can use Build Momentum to give a short burst of 'whoop butt' time.

While I LOVE the purgatory sword, I'm not a fan of the other skins. To me it seems as if the devs got TOO fancy with the weapons. I was hoping for a more normal looking warhammer that could be expianed away as a magical weapon, but all the hammer skins are either tech or a block of concrete. Maybe an axe that doesn't look like a giant torn out peice of steak, or lacks glowing eyes.

I do like how the weapons look, but I think there needs to be a few more 'normal' style weapons.

Well, normal as big huge weapons get.
  14. One thing I can advise is using Enhancement Boosters in lower level IOs/Toggles that't aren't ED capped for End Red. This assuming you can get/afford them. Otherwise look into the Cardiac or Vigor Alphas.

So, if you manage it well, you can use TW without redrawing.

I believe that it is possible, under good conditions, for a TW/FA to outperform a SS/FA. However, the SS/FA will still be easier because it is all AoEs and has no tricky mechanics, and the SS character would probably be cheaper to build.
I think that would be a fair assement. I'm not confident it could outdo SS/FA, I just think they would be comparable.
  16. Mids has updated with Titan Weapons now, so you can redo it.

Also you should get your S/L Defense up. Yes, Defensive Sweep DOES boost your smashing defense, but NOT YOUR LETHAL. And while swords are covered under melee defense, guns are not. And this game has a lot of guns.

TW is capable of farming I'm sure, but i would pair it with something along the lines of WP or maybe EA, something that doesnt involve a lot of clicking of defensive powers, and its still gonna be a bit slower than ss/fa, because of the absence of burn.
Fair enough on the Rage and Redraw. However I'm not making it as a farmer, I plan on making one anyway, I just want the option to farm if I want the extra Inf.

Else, pointing in the right direction is necessary, and gets old quick.
Maybe, but most farms I've seen gets you surrounded by mobs, so aiming a cone isn't hard.

Although most of them can't really expect to out AoE a lot of brutes and spine scraps, you'll find that Kinetic Corruptors paired with an appropriately overpowered primary, like Fire or Archery, are able to completely obliterate spawns with one or two AoEs due to the insane damage buff from Fulcrum Shift. More impotantly, the Fulcrum will benifit the entire team, whereas most of the suggestions so far are selfish farm-melee builds that only benifit you. These are just some things to think about.

Also for a road REALLY less traveled, AoE with Trick Arrow's Oil Slick Arrow. But now I'm really off topic and playing something like a Trick Arrow / Fire Defender might be a slow and semi painful experience before you really get slotted up, plus it's putting all of your faith into some -res debuffs and Oil Slick Arrow's damage, which is underrated by most people but really not something so great that it magically lets you outdps SS / Fire Brutes.
True, more or less. It's just when I hear "I want to do A.O.E. damage" I think of something that will drop everything in the room in a short time span, and then tend to think of the damage heavy ATs.
  20. How well do you guys think this would farm compared to the lord of farming, SS/FA? I don't farm much, but I would like the option if possible. I figure that if it winds up being worse it won't be by much, due to the fact that TW is AoE Heavy (Three cones, one PBAoE).
  21. Titan Weapons is also an AoE heavy set with enough ST to smash hard targets into the ground.
  22. Also, consider taking Intuition Partial as an Aplha when you get to that point. Aside from the -Defense, everything in that can help you. Especially if you get Soul Storm from the Soul Mastery Patron Pool.
  23. More or less.

Brutes CAN deal Scrapper level damage, but they need to get Fury up to speed first, and they don't have Crits to spike their damage up. Brutes are more survivable due to higher HP and caps, but share the Scrappers armour values.

There are some sets that work a little better on each AT, but for those powers the differences are just damage vs. surviabilty.
  24. What Pine said.

I"d be sure that I could invest 5 slots at least before nabbing Aid Self, preferably 6. One Interupt IO + Five slotted Doctored Wounds/Numina.

Usually you can get away without the Interupt IO, but when you're surrounded by baddies the chances the Random Number Gods will turn against you grow. That fraction of a second can spell the difference between getting HP back and wasting Endurance.

I was about to suggest WP as well... I do have a MA/WP Scrap that's pretty awesome.

Ah well, then agian, WP goes with anything.
