Martial Arts

Oh, good and gentle townsfolk of Locker C-18... no wait. Hey folks. Decided that i wanted a project. I am gonna solo the game, every arc, every story blueside. I have done this multiple times redside, but have stalled out everytime I have tried it Blue. Various reasons, trying it with a Blaster didn't help lol. Also, the storylines are more convoluted, since multiple contacts give the same arc, it got very confusing as to whether I had in fact, done each available arc in every 5 level block. But, I shall try again.

This time I have decided on a Martial Arts scrapper. I am sure there are better choices, I know there are worse ones lol. But I have decided. I am here to ask you good folks what secondary I should use. Most of the parameters are set, Solo the entire game, every arc, every misssion, Blueside. I will of course be doing the TFs as I level, with a team. I will be keeping the setting pretty easy, I think +0/x1 is the only appropriate setting for my first run thru. I will be throwing Procs and Globals on as he levels up to them, and will be investing quite a bit into the build, popping it on as I go. Oh, and certain secondaries I may decide against for concept reason even if they are in fact better for game mechanics. So, again, given these conditions what secondary is best? Thank you in advance.

edit* I suppose I could be talked into Street Justice (I have already bought it) if it is a huge difference. But in fact stylistically I would prefer MA.

I would personally recommend regen. The high end price and IO build points me that way because a high end regen build is a monster with all the powers slotted well. It can be expensive, but the end result is amazing. The damage resistance and +regen make you staggeringly capable of soloing anything you want and at much higher difficulty. I would recommend adding tough from the fighting pool early because regen really comes into it's own in the high teens/ low 20's and once you're in the 30s you should be an a rams tank.

With moderate investment, MA/ELA would be a combination that would see you through any challenge in the game as long as you don't require 4x8. It basically has no weaknesses if you build for defense with sets. It has infinite endurance, something MA enjoys. Great resistance numbers, a damage aura, a heal... plus you look snazzy while you're kicking faces in. If your only thematic requirement is "I want to be able to do absolutely everything by myself," I think this is probably as apt a secondary as you could choose.

Tough call! Any would be good, but I'm thinking going with the newest port to scrappers...

Energy Aura!

Taunt aura, to help keep enemies closer to you for Dragon's Tail, self heal, end management, defense, minor resists, all around good set that comes with a stealth.

One way to check if you have done all the arcs is to check Ouroboros pillars. If the arc is starred or highlighted (can't remember which) it means you have completed the arc.

I will throw in Shield. I have played a couple of MA scrappers to 50 (SR and SD) and SD was great. I have also played regen to 50 a couple of times and the set/forget of SD is better for me.

What is a plug for a secondary without a build?

Energy or Dark, both with stealth options are worth consideration for when you just don't want to bother with that defeat all.

MA/Fire was my third 50, shortly before MA and Fire got buffed (go me), but was surprisingly sturdy and the damage output of FA on its own is phenomenal. The lack of taunt in BA can be annoying at times.

Electricity would be similar to Fire, but with a little extra recharge for chaining MA together, but with a little less damage.

WP, SR, and Inv are boring, but solid. Shield, is pretty much the same but with SC for some oomph.

While anything will work, for the style you've described I would go with Regen. Regen is a solid option, my second 50 was an MA/Regen. None of regen's issues are issues at lower difficulties, and played well it's very tough. It doesn't have the extreme durability of an Inv or WP, or the offence of Fire/Dark/Elec, it doesn't lose anything, or pay extra for anything, at a lower difficulty against fewer, softer mobs.

They ALL float down here. When you're down here with us, you'll float too!

Well I went with a Dark/Invul Brute. Then re-rolled him as a non all blue side character at about 12, then re-rolled that guy at 39 to a Tank, and he is sitting at 12 now. (I alt a lot...)

Now I am re-rolling the MA Scrapper, using Regen. I have a backstory and concept. Not sure I am going to solo all Blueside with him, but I am thinking badger.

Struggling with a name and costume to fit the backstory right now. Wish me luck.

I was about to suggest WP as well... I do have a MA/WP Scrap that's pretty awesome.

Ah well, then agian, WP goes with anything.
