  1. It's a really hard to see effect. They're not "engulfed in flame" or anything. You won't notice it.

    New Trials

I ran a BAF last night that almost won (the first time we dropped Nightstar and Siege, we needed to be about 1 second faster with piling on the damage. We failed with them both down to about 2% health), and what we did on our 13 man group (something around that) was split into two teams. Team 1 focused on the AVs, while team 2 focused entirely on taking down the reinforcements as fast as possible. We'd pulled the pair over to the tennis court, so team 1 could jump back and forth between AVs, and team 2 was near one of the main reinforcement points nearby, so could jump them as they appeared.

The main thing is that, yeah, you need to seriously reevaluate your toughness in these things and your ability to take on groups alone. Multiple bosses represent a real threat to players, and even LT's can be dangerous. Stick together, play as a team, and make sure there are some people set to jumping the reinforcements fast, including damage dealers and supporters.
  4. I've run each trial once, and failed both times... and you know what? Even when my scrapper was getting pasted in less than 20 seconds by ubered up Victorias or blown away by Marauder's Walkers... I was still having fun. I don't really mind that I failed. I had FUN with the chaos.

    Failure can be fun too.

No idea. It was just "Look at this neat stuff we're working on for post-i20!" and we were all "woo, shiny."

They've already announced at PAX East a trial where you take on Antimatter at the three big antimatter reactors in Praetoria and another where you journey deep into the Hamidon infested Praetorian Underground (one of the screenshots showed what looked like a DE infested War Walker).
  7. Also you can convert shards into threads if you've got a huge pile of shards doing nothing at a rate of either 10 shards for 6-10 threads a day or 10 shards for 5 threads as often as you want.

The impression I got was that there are bigger threats out there than Cole and the Praetorians, and more enemies on the horizon. My impression has always been that with the Incarnate stuff, we're just playing on a much larger battlefield. Like Thanatos or Silver Surfer level threats.
  12. I hope everyone had a great time at this last night! We had a blast putting it on.
  13. One of our members, Aquadette, commissioned this fantastic group piece by Avionetca of our supergroup, the Gods of the Golden Age. Really, really pleased with how this looks.

  14. I enjoyed the arc, though you have to remember to apply a good dose of comic book logic to it. Why can't you just build a new prototype MacGuffin? Because it's the prototype. In comic books, that's how it works. Nobody ever builds backups or makes copies of the schematics or anything, there's just the one-of-a-kind, irreplaceable prototype. And the bad guys reveal their hand by making a grab for it immediately, rather than just sending an agent by the MediTech offices to plant a camera in their xerox machine. What does the device do? It keeps the Praetorians from jamming mediports. How? With their mediporter jamming devices, of course. Because they broadcast mediport jamming rays.

This is totally normal for comic books. What you're asking for is a pretty typical comic book plot to be plausible in the real world. But that's no fun. I'll take fun, exciting comic book plots where I can be a super hero over "realistic" plots any day.
  15. Let's see. Fitness is now Inherent and you get it at level 2 automatically, which rocks. Tankers got in i18 a -res debuff attached to their Tier 1 attack, which you might know about. There's some new arcs red and blueside, both of which are fun. And of course, there's the Incarnate stuff, Praetoria, and the two new task forces, both of which are challenging but fun. You can also bring Primal characters to Praetoria for badging and events now, too.

Right now with the Incarnate stuff, we've got the first two levels of the Alpha Slot, which can be best thought of as an invisible extra enhancement slot to all your powers. The higher tier Alpha things give better stuff, including partially ignoring ED and at the higher tiers (which we don't have yet), an effective level shift.
  16. Something I've noticed about Lady Winter is she's got relatively weak defenses against mezzes and debuffs, as well as ranged attacks in general. My plant/storm controller was able to more or less keep the AV version busy while the tanks and brutes were busy rezzing, and might have been able to solo her if I'd come prepared inspiration-wise (though I should point out that my controller is IO'd out and that the Gravitational Anchor Hold proc in Roots is very, very useful when you spam Roots, and I have the Cardiac Core Alpha which helps a ton with the end burn).

With my scrapper against the EB solo, I had to briefly disengage to get the debuff aura to wear off before charging back in. That seems to be the key for melee, being willing to pull back, maybe string her along for 20-30 seconds while the debuff wears off.

I also noticed something during that fight: she doesn't seem to ever leave that peak she spawns on. Is she tethered to that area? Might be a viable strategy to take advantage of that.

    The new tips

The new Heroic Morality Mission I got on my 50 rocks. It's a bit more challenging than the old one, and takes a bit more time than "find captive, fight off Boss, then fight off your doppleganger." But it's totally worth it and feels very much what a hero should do: be willing to fight their way into the jaws of hell on earth to save the helpless and strike against injustice.
  18. Theory: The Moon was moved closer back in the 1960s so it would be more economical for heroes and villains to have their supersecret Moon Bases on them. This was done at the behest of an alliance of the International Henchman's Union and American Lackey Alliance, who complained about the commute time.

Theory 2: That's no moon, that's yo mamma! ... Oh god, not in the face! *dragged off and beaten by the Dead Horse Police*
  19. D'awwww. Congrats you two and best of wishes!

And big thanks to War Witch and Ocho for helping make it special for these two.
  20. If it's not released this week, it won't be released next week. Americans celebrate Thanksgiving next week, and most people end up taking most/all of the week off to travel and be with their families. The devs are people too.

    A god with a gun

I think people need to stop thinking of Incarnates as gods like Zeus level nigh-omnipotent things. You won't get that power. Also, people that go "I'm an Incarnate! I wiggle my eyebrows and Pluto crashes into your face!" will be hit with my own Incarnate power: Global Ignore. Godmodding and power level pissing contests is boring.

You might be closer to the legendary Epic Heroes than the modern concepts of gods. Probably a better way to think of it. You're closer to, say, Hercules or Gilgamesh or Cuchulain or Achilles than Zeus or Ares or the Archangels. You're powerful, sure, but you're also a badass. Skill with power, rather than just epic overwhelming power. And in many of the stories, the epic hero had to think fast to beat the monster. Hercules figured out how to keep Hydra's heads from regenerating, etc. They didn't just wave their massive god powers at them to make the monsters keel over. They earned those victories by also being tough and cunning warriors.

Also notice that a lot of legendary heroes had their signature gear. Cuchulain had Gae Bulg, Hercules had that coat made from the Nemean Lion, Arthur had Excalibur, etc.

Or, hell, just don't say that being an incarnate means you can beat Loki in an eating contest. That seems sensible. I think people are really, really over-emphasizing the "power of the gods" thing to an absurd level.

That's the secret power for Clown Control. They all climb on each other's shoulders and form one single monster clown for 60 seconds.
  23. I want to give my minions Sombreros. Don't care if they're robots or demons or ninjas. There's something I find inherently amusing about putting big hats on your hordes of expendable minions.

But seriously though, I doubt we'll ever get the ability to fully customize our minions, if just for reasons of space. 6 custom minions per mastermind costume would be... a little much. More, if you count in the graphics change when you upgrade them. Recolor them? Maybe.

Of course, I'd be happy if we could rename our Controller pets.
  24. Wonder how they're going to animate this and how much customization they'll grant us. It feels a lot more "this is my power" when we can customize it, especially if we're given more than one animation option. Like for Ion here, throwing a charged gadget or shuriken or special arrow would suit a lot of toons more than "Lightning bolt!"

    But still. Very interesting.

Something else I noticed: the power type is listed as "Auto." Does that mean it always hits?
  25. All right... all right... but apart from better sanitation and medicine and education and irrigation and public health and roads and a freshwater system and baths and public order... what have the Romans done for us?

    Television, yes... shut up!
