I did a cage match with a friend and after the match ended
[/ QUOTE ]
So how do you get into the cage to fight ?
Only option at the terminals is a regular Arena fight
Thanks
[/ QUOTE ]
do enough arena fights / gladiator matches and you'll end up on that map sooner or later. -

Is there any way to tell who has the record for most time spent in the various safeguard/mayhem missions? I tried an info kiosk but it didn't have that listed. If there isn't, that would be a great addition to the listings.
[/ QUOTE ]
People still use the info kisoks? -
[ QUOTE ]
I add my name to this list of people who have done these flawed safeguards.
For being too high for a zone, we have to exemplar to a lower team but when there is absolutely no credit for badges in side missions, why bother.
Only got credit for two badges: Villain Disruptor & PPD Deputy
That means the other 4 are broken. Stupid if only one person on a team gets all the credit.
There should've been implemented the same auto-exemplaring for Safeguards as there is for PvP zones. Maybe then we'd all get credit.
Multiple side missions popping up at the same time is also ridiculous.
Enemy set to Invincible power while you are Heroic is crazy.
This stuff went thru the Testing Room virtually untested I can see. Too many flaws with it.
Only thing everyone can get is the exploration badge. Other badges are bogus right now. Even in Mayhem missions, I was able to get progress on my badges.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. No it didn't. We tested it over and over on the training room and gave the exact feedback you're seeing in this thread. Some of the feedback was listened to (like losing time for objects being destroyed when you had no chance in hell of stopping that) but most of it was ignored (like everything in this thread).
So don't go blaming the testers. WE tested it and reported our findings. The developers chose to ignore some of that for whatever reason and thus you have the gigantic flop that is Safeguard missions. -

Thank you all for the tips and advice. I have tried GIMP in the past and the learning curve was a bit steep for me - I recall mumbling to myself and babbling about layers for a bit...
I have Irfan View and use it as my simple cut & crop ap - I have never looked at it for more deep features. Will do so now.
Thanks again.
[/ QUOTE ]
Gimp's learning curve is about the same as photoshop :/ as they are very similar to each other, but I've only rarely messed around in gimp to see what it was all about.
Nothing new to add on programs that I can think of off the bat. Paintshop pro used to have a free version many many moons ago from what i recall before corel bought them. Either way it is cheaper then corel photopaint -
Awww she's such a cute, brainwashed little Christian zombie.... I wonder if her childhood is a living nightmare of non child-like things.
I can believe that she has natural talent. That and hard work will turn anyone (who had the natural talent) into a stunning artist/composer/musician/dancer/etc... -

That's a good suggestion. My sister has a decent digital camera as well. I'll have to ask her about that when I go to scan in my smaller pictures.
As for newer art, I've been thinking of putting all my creations down in artform using templates so that I can focus on the designs, and not worry about getting the art right. Then I can take my time and relax when drawing, as I'll just bedrawing to draw, not to get an idea down. With enough time and practice I will get better. As for commissions? I think I will practice with a few of the characters that people have displayed here, and then suprise people by posting them. After I feel confident enough I think I will take a few commissions (for free of course). Eventually I hope I can become skilled enough that I can actually charge for commissions (and believe me, I could use the extra income).
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh I hear you about the income thing. Been recovering from surgery myself for the last few months and have been rather jobless for the last few years due to the aforementioned medical issue.
Using the templates to give you a basis for getting an idea down and not getting hung up on anatomy is a really good idea. -

Speaking of GIMP does anyone know of a good "idiots guide to gimp" site? I am trying to figure out how to use the layers function. (i.e. bounce back and forth between them and how to know which one I'm on etc) I've googled but the results are mind boggling. Any help would be appreciated!

Here are some tutorial sites that have gimp stuff
http://empyrean.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/~nem/gimp/tuts/
http://www.pixel2life.com/tutorials/Gimp/All/
http://www.gimptalk.com/
http://wiki.gimp.org/gimp/
This one will teach you about making layers. It seems that gimp is set up similar to photoshop but many programs are using that layout, kind of a standard now.

Gimp is confusing as heck. I would HIGHLY recommend not using it. If you're going for free stuff, I'd get Open Canvas along with Inkscape. I haven't actually used Inkscape yet but I've heard alot of good things about it. OpenCanvas is awesome, hands down.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never used gimp but I did totally forget about OpenCanvas which is pretty easy to use. I think it is free too...ok it has a 1 month trial period but seems to work when that has expired. Once the trial expires you can't save anything as I just tested on a very old install. -

Personally, I really like the silver and purple look of the one Dark Lilac put up.
With the chains and the sinister top, to me, she looks like she's really ready for a fight, and to start killing anybody in her way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally I'd not have gone with the colors I did in the image I posted but he said he wanted an "evil" version so I stuck with basically the same colors.
I agree a metallic highlight (silver or gold) would really offset all the darkity dark colors everyone seems to want to useI'd rather just go for a totally different color scheme myself.

nope... and I'm not even sure how to work with layers. But I'm working on a new method that may improve the look of my work a lot. I'll post more in the next two days.
[/ QUOTE ]
Layers are pretty easy to use and you would totally love them. Imagine being able to put shading on one layer, highlights on another, details on a third, base costume on a fourth etc... then being able to go back and modify whichever one you wanted to.
I think that the current version of GIMP does layers and there is a windows version out there that i do believe is free. It does pretty much everything photoshop does too I believe.

what kind of program are you using to do your art?
[/ QUOTE ]
unfortunately, I am limited to using windows Paintbrush right now. I can not afford something like photoshop and I'm at work and not allowed to install software anyways.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah i was curious as to what you were using due to the grey halo around the outline caused by anti aliasing. Was wondering if what you had, had the ability to do layers and stuff. -

Would it be possible to provide the links, or perhaps email them to me? My search-fu sucks, and so it would be wonderful to aquire some templates without aquiring a migraine headache from my poor search-fu. If you can I would very much aprreciate it. If you can't, well I don't want to be pushy, so I'll just have to find another way.
[/ QUOTE ]
I PM'ed a link of stuff i put on a download site. I'll pm it to you also. It's a 14ish meg DL so not something that can be e-mailed easily.
EDIT: PM Sent. -

At this point I am wondering if I should even bother updating my devaintART page with new scans. I think I will update it one more time, and if interest remains the same, then it will be the final update and the last you will hear from me on it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just checked out your DA page and you have some nice stuff. Not sure what kind of feedback you're really looking for though :/ If you take requests I'd request Djeannie
As to scanning. If you have really large art you can always take a high quality digital photograph of it instead of scanning it in, then just crop to taste. I used to work in an art studio some 6 odd years ago and that's what we would do with our paintings but we'd take real photos then scan in the photographs at high resolution and reduce as needed. Digital would just remove one of the steps and cost of film. -

I think my tablet is 4x5 also. I'd not go over 6x8 though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now you tell me ?? hehe ... I just walked through the door and sat a my computer. First thing I do is read this thread (I had read a few before heading out but not this one, trying to catch up on all the Christmas time posts). Now where was I coming from you ask? Well I had stepped out of the office to go try and buy a Tablet ... they didn't have the one I wanted in stock so I ordered it ... yeah yeah ... a 6x8 wacom graphire ... and then I read that the size doesn't really matter
Anyhoo ... I guess it's just an extra 100 or so dollars ... the 4x5 I had drawn on a piece of paper looked really small ... 6x8 seemed way big enough ... but I had to pick ... so I went with bigger ... I guess it should be ok with your recommendation.
(5 extra days because I wanted the blue one ... I know ... I'm weird)
[/ QUOTE ]
6x8 is fine for a tablet, you'll like it and at that size it'll give you a bit more balance when on uneven surfaces, like your lap or something.
I'll have to remeasure my tablet to be sure its 4x5 :/ I'm pretty sure but it's been a long time since i've used it. -
Protruding bits hehehe
You're off to a good start and I've used the templates the same way. Print and draw or just layer draw in an art program
Glad you're finding them useful.

I've never heard of the Adesso tablet but I've not really done a ton of tablet research. That being said I have used tablets in the past and when they first hit the computer scene some 10+ years ago
For doing art I've found that a small tablet works better as there is less wrist / hand movement involved to cover the screen and the small size seems to work fine. If you were tracing line art by laying the drawing on the tablet then you'd want a big tablet but that's what scanners are for
I have had a 12x16 tablet that was a bear to work with. I currently use a grapphire 2, which is supposed to be a stripped down wacom/intuos tablet but i've yet to notice any real difference. I think my tablet is 4x5 also. I'd not go over 6x8 though. If you can return the tablet for another I'd do that.
As to gimp working, can't really help you there. It is possible the drivers for the Adesso are just not very compatable, or perhaps gimp has bad support for tablets. /shrug
good luck -

hrrrmm... I'm wondering if I should close my que for a while. As I review my work I'm noticing a lot of mistakes that I didn't notice before. Such as forgetting to color Djeanie's viel and forgetting to give Capt. Quebec a gotee. Some may say they are minor mistakes but I seem to be making them a lot. Maybe I need to take a break from Micros?
I'll finish my current que then decide
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh well nothing is stopping you from going back and making a minor touchup! But I do understand where you're coming from. I can suggest the following... Don't try to rush them and before you post one, start another and get a bit done with it, then go back and look at the finished-unposted one and compare it to the screencaps you got. That should give you a fresh view of the image as you'll have been looking and working on something else.
Thanks again. -

I know, but all those images have been moved to a new directory on photobucket, just check the micro hero directory and they are all there. I just couldn't go back and edit my posts to fix the links

Ah ok cool. I didn't want to miss collecting your work -
Hey GammaGirl!
Many of your earlier image links are all dead. Do you have a website somewhere that has them on it? If not and you'd like I'd be happy to help you set up a free site on some place like geocities. -

rawr! (that's different from rowr, we all know who that is) but seriously... heeeellloooooo nurse! I'd be happy to make a micro of her =)

and I can't wait to see what you come up with. I too may have some templates from something long ago that I'll dig up for you.

Don't listen to people who tell you not to take a power without giving you a legitimate reason. A lot of people dislike /Invulnerability because they can no longer shrug off the damage they used to after ED hit. I, on the other hand, love it. With it properly slotted, you can go toe to toe with some of the toughest bosses and Villains in the game! True, it's only real weakness is against Psychic damage, but to me, that's a small price to pay.
Anyway, this thread isn't about what people think about a power set. If you post your character's bio, (or PM it to me), I might be able to come up with something for you.
Play what you want, without letting people tell you what to play.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not ED that did INV in though it sure helped. It was Statesman gutting INV's resistances to all but s/l and leaving the psi hole that did INV in. INV's saving grace is invincibility. It's worse on a scrapper where the passives are hardly noticeable as to the level of resistance they give you.
I've got an inv/stone tanker and had a spines/inv scrapper. I ditched the scrapper and kept the tank but don't get nearly the satisfaction from playing the tank like I used to.
That being said the set can be played as can any set in this game. If the OP enjoys the bs/inv then that is awesome.
