Quote:No disagreement here. Steampunk jacket is one of my favorite pieces. I'd like to use it with the buttcapron (good name for it). Also want an option without the stripes.Except that the gunslinger buttcapron doesn't work with the steampunk jackets, which is pretty annoying.
I think it looks good on my widow though.

Good choice of stuff to go together. Steampunk does work with the gunslinger stuff. And the dog works too.
Steampunk and dog probably should've still been on sale though. Even if I already have them. -
Link in my sig has a lot of info on the powers. Still working on it though. Lots of new stuff to cover.
-
That's good too. I also wasn't meaning what I said negatively. I actually hope the sale made good money and will help bring down the prices of some items for people in the future (enhancement slots anyone?). And fuel production of some cooler stuff.
-
Quote:It's also possible the sales were better than they expected, and they said in a Neo voice "Whoa," and decided to leave the sale up and make even more money.it is also a possibility that the Black Friday sales were not as great as COH Marketing predicted. And they want to boost the sales the best they can.I am sure they ran some sale models and if what they predicted and what was really sold was too far apart, that may explain the extension. If I was going to spend a extra 20.00 on something ,it would be a real item not a bunch of electrons.

I considered buying more, but I'm already sitting on 8 level 25 LotGs for upcoming chars. I decided to just buy the ones for my main character. She does a lot of exemping and she's one of my only two characters with purples. New chars can get by without the exemping perk.
-
It also caps at -150 per stack on higher ranked enemies, which means on really high HP targets (like say in trials) its contribution is a fraction of a percent.
-
Five globals for my main character. Probably won't be buying anything else, but it was worth the investment.

Quote:Mercs could use some attention too.I dont think mm as a whole need help, just ninjas. There is no reason for these guys to be like wet paper dolls all the time. They need higher survivability at this point. What good is having good damage if they do not survive long enough to do it? Also there needs to be some overall compensation for dealing with the headache you have for controlling them due to their wacky ai.

Quote:IOs have different ways of working. Procs function at any level regardless of the level of the IO. So if you put a level 50 damage proc in your attack, it will work even if you exemp to level 1. Some interesting things are considered "procs," including Numina/Miracle/Regen Tissue/Performance Shifter, stealth IOs, and so on.Dispari, you mention that the LotG will retain the level 50 strength while at 25. You're referring to the IO strength and the bonuses? Or just the bonuses? I'd thought they would scale down with level.
Set bonuses only apply if you're 3 levels below the IO's level, or higher. So if it's 25, it will function at levels 22-50. But if you go to 21, the set bonuses disappear. This also means you have to find the right balance between set bonuses and enhancement strength. If you slot all 25s they'll be a lot less powerful than if you slot 50s. But you'll be able to keep your set bonuses if you exemp. The LotG global is considered a set bonus, so if you wanted to keep it while exemped it had to be level 25. Which means you get less +DEF in the power itself.
The new LotG in the store which scales by level allows you to have both. The +DEF strength of a level 50 IO which still works down to level 22. -
Speaking as someone with OCD, I'd pay the 400 to make sure my points don't end in an odd number.
(Yesterday I had to buy 5 LotGs since they were 113 each. Then I got a 3-pack of XP boosters to get rid of the trailing 5, and then the 30-charge hammer temp because I couldn't find anything else that cost 20 points) -
My widow uses it in Sprint. With her normal stealth power she's invisible if I toggle it on.
-
I bought 5 of the LotG global recharge pieces. They can retain level 50 strength while still working at level 25. You can't buy something like that in the game.
But to answer your question, no. I've never 5-slotted KC or 6-slotted LotG. At best I've 2-3 slotted LotG and 4-slotted KC. -
My theory of the t9 is an awesome dark pet. Since we just got some four-legged stuff, my wild speculation is a cerberus pet.

Quote:I went ahead and bought a few. I got my monthly stipend and I still have a big enough stack of points. And the number's been wonky since I got that dog pet. So I bought 5 LotG recharges. However, I only bought those for the advantage they offer: they'll be level 50 strength but still scale down to level 25. That's not something I can currently buy in the game. I only bought them for one character, and I have no intention of buying anything else that I can just get in the game. Will I buy these items? Probably not. For one it's not that hard to obtain them and I already have a bunch of all of them. Two, I don't have enough money that I'd want to just throw it at that stuff. But even if I did buy them, it wouldn't be but for maybe one character. And I'd do it to improve her performance when exemped.

Quote:This is pure BS. When people were whining about this I soloed him on an Elec Blaster with no secondary or pool powers, using just minor damage attacks to defeat him, with only SOs of 2x acc and 3x DMG. 0% RES, 0% DEF, no heals, not even a high damage attack.trapdoor was an AV that was necessary to defeat in order to unlock the first slot of the Incarnate progression, the Alpha slot. It's part of Mender Ramiel's arc. Trapdoor was balanced against IOs (though they claimed otherwise)
Trapdoor is slightly harder than your average enemy just because he's an EB. People not understanding how to deal with an EB is not "devs balancing around IOs." -
Quote:I did mention the two ways of buffing archetypes a few pages ago. Stats and adding gimmicks.I never thought the changes where "to good" and they needed dialed back.
The idea of gimmick on gimmick when it comes to their inherents just seems terrible, but maybe that's what makes them different?
I do think that there's such a thing as too many gimmicks. If an AT becomes too gimmicky they can be too unwieldy and eventually be too conceptual and hard to balance. Adding extra gimmicks means extra variables and you can't always assign a value to them. So you can't balance them in a spreadsheet and trying to ascertain value from data mining people playing can be just as problematic.
Stalkers are one of the most gimmicky ATs already. I do think they should be careful about adding more. -
Scare's a pretty poor power. I wouldn't take it myself. Probably much better stuff you can put in that slot.

Quote:Speaking as someone who uses the systems you're talking about in order to obtain the things they just put in the store, I'd see it as an improvement for certain people who have money they feel they can part with if they can acquire the things they want in order to go back to actually playing the content they'd rather be running.I think many people will use things like the market and alignment system much less often. I also think Premium players will be more likely to just buy the enhancements instead of buying access to systems through which they can be earned. Once again, it's a testament to the integrity of the game. Actual content will be made irrelevant.
I get Kinetic Combats and LotGs so I can excel at high end content, TFs, trials, farming, or whatever. I don't get them so I can be better at speeding through alignment tips. People don't run that stuff for the "actual content" if they're doing it for the rewards. They're doing it for the rewards. If they'd rather spend money than time to get those rewards, I don't see that as a problem.
And I'd do it so I could go back to doing what I'd rather be doing instead of grinding alignment tips. "Actual content" won't be destroyed. If anything I could return to the actual content sooner. Calling the race to get Alignment Merits through tips "actual content" already makes me laugh. I already do everything I can to avoid playing them. I drop missions and stealth to the end. And since the SSAs come out, I just do those for Alignment Merits instead. Nothing of value would be lost by allowing people who don't want to do something the chance to not have to do it -- if they have enough money that is. -
Quote:Do you really believe that a significant portion of the game would just spend large amounts of money to outfit their characters and then stop playing them? That doesn't take place in the game world. This will do more harm than good and it will perpetuate the sense of entitlement that is already prominent in the community. Have you thought about the extent to which this will trivialize game mechanics? I can almost guarantee that the alignment system and the in game market will take a hit from this. If purple/PVP IO's are included in the paragon market, I could even see trials getting run even less- Lots of people do them to save emp merits and work on builds. This will ultimately lead to people playing content less.

Quote:City of Heroes is not an Olympic event. There's nothing at stake and you don't stand to gain anything by getting a head-start.Hi I don't have the time to run an entire marathon, let me make a donation to your race committee so i can start at the 10 mile mark.
Hi I don't have the time to play a full game of golf, let me shoot the 9th hole and we can multiply my score by 9.
Hi I haven't had the time this year to maintain my physical training, here is $200 let me use a jetski, a motorbike, and skates in the triathlon.
Hi I haven't put the effort into this game to learn how it works or do what is needed to advance my characters let me write your producers a check.
If you and I are having a friendly game of golf and some random person wants to just shoot the 9th hole and leave, what does it matter to me? If that's how someone wants to spend their time, who cares? They don't win anything by finishing earlier than me. My ability to play and enjoy a round of golf is not damaged. -
Finally updated the OP some. Let me know if anything is inaccurate or missing. Or needs to be further explained.
