I don't actually use the character list since characters are easily deleted or sometimes not played much.
I find the global list much more effective.
I've often wondered why the e-mail system wasn't globally based.
The email system predates global names/tells/channels. My guess is that since the email system wasn't used much before the addition of global stuff that changes to the system weren't considered a high priority.

  3. This is excellent news. Another giant leap forward for game accessibility.
  4. Chances are that purple prices will begin to decline after I16 is released, what with being able to set spawn sizes to the equivalent of an 8-man team and all.
  5. I think I'm more enthused with the possibility of Electric Armor getting a self-heal. The numbers that were briefly available to the general public will most likely be changed, but the thought makes me very happy.

    >_<

I keep looking, but I think I was lucky to see a Gladiator just once, from far away, ever since it's been a fat zero.
Just because there are zero for sale doesn't mean that they aren't being bought. They're being snapped up as soon as they're put up for sale.
  7. There was a player event on Champion during the last invasion weekend. About 100 players got together and took down 18 drop ships. Turns out they have rewards now.

    And the music video.
  8. If I were to define a farm in MMO terms, I would definite it as a repeatable sequence of events that results in the largest possible chance of acquiring the largest quantity of a particular reward (currency, experience, equipment, crafting materials, etc.) in the shortest possible time with the lowest possible risk.

That definition was carried over to MMOs and games in general. When you stop moving around and stay in one place to cultivate your rewards, you are farming. It doesn't matter whether you do that in dev missions, AE, Ouro, arena, or a hazard zone. If you are staying in one place to harvest rewards, you are farming.

Farming, in and of itself, is not bad. The rise of civilation and societies is based on crop and lifestock farming. In MMOs, the availibilty of many in-game items and rewards are greatly increased by farming and do trickle down into the population beyond the farmers.

In real life, certain farms are disallowed. Coca leaves and marijuana immediately come to mind. Why are those farms disallowed? Because the derivatives of those plants are an inordinate amount of wealth concentrated into the hands of a few law breakers, which can lead to corruption, and a stuporforic effect on the population that uses the derivative drugs.

In MMO terms, things like the mito farms and meow farms have the same end results -- an inordinate amount of wealth concentrated into the hands of a few and stupified players that don't know how to do anything but sit on a stoop and watch the world go by.
    Nailed it.

    I16 Closed Beta

On a somewhat interesting but probably inconsequential note, it seems they've changed the version number scheme.
  13. Posting my build can help with some of those questions.

1st: You can keep Shield Charge and still solo AVs and Pylons.

2nd: Shadow Maul is more of a set mule than an attack. It may seem kinda odd putting the purple set in it, but you only need 5 slots out of that set and Oblit needs all six for the melee defense bonus, crucial for reaching the softcap.

3rd: That much. I don't know the exact recharge numbers needed for each attack off the top of my head, but I do know that the above build, with Hasten running will be able to run the Smite->Siphon Life->Smite->Midnight Grasp chain seamlessly.

4th: I went with all three. It works wonderfully.

5th: You could, but with their end requirements I would recommend it. The attack chain I mentioned, with 33% end reduction in each attack, would use 4 endurance per second. Of course, an IO'd build would be more efficient, but if you're AV soloing you need all the endurance you can get, especially if you're not using inspirations. Conserve Power from the Body Mastery APP would be worth looking into if you go that route.

6th: The melee and PBAoE sets may be all you'll be able to find room for. Unless you're willing to shell out the big bucks for the Gladiator +3% defense (which stacks with its Steadfast Protection counterpart) you may end up sacrificing softcapping for the purples, which I don't consider an equal trade. If you're IOing, I would consider reaching the softcap the utmost goal of the build. Everything else is secondary.

  15. Scrapper envy. I think the Tank was just pissed because you were making him look useless. That whole TF you were taking leadership of the team, not that I blame you. I'm guessing he wanted to Tank Rommy to try to prove he wasn't dead weight.
  16. I picked up the name Schadenfreud. Yes, the misspelling is intentional.
  17. Just picked up the name Schadenfreud on Champion. The misspelling is intentional. Now I'm trying to think up a good backstory for a psychiatrist who enjoys the misfortunes of others.

But in reality, you are doing a disservice to both the pole leaner and the authorities who now have to investigate.
I think it's been made pretty clear that MA farms aren't allowed. That's why MA farm missions are being banned. Reporting something that can and does result in action by GMs isn't unreasonable. It's also encouraged. Your analogy would be more accurate if the suspicious person was climbing the pole with a pair of limbcutters.

EDIT: And the whole "don't be a snitch" stance is indefensible.

You seem ignorant of the fact that farmers are supplying the recipes in greater quantities. Nethergoat is right, the only items that have become more expensive since MA was introduced are purples and low-level uniques like Miracle +Recovery. I recently started IOing out a toon for the first time since MA was introduced and was stunned by the disparity in some prices. Numina Regen/Recovs (level 50) were going for around 60 million while the aforementioned Miracle +Recovery (level 40) was going for more than double that. If you were right about inflation, the price for the Numina unique would be much higher.

    Whirlwind

There's a friend of mine on Champion who plays a ranged Scrapper and has Whirlwind. If it's for concept reasons, knock yourself out, but as far as melee combat goes its about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.
