I'm a semi-recluse that shifted all social activity to the internet on purpose just before I got this game, so I feel ya brutha! Welcome home!
-
Quote:Thread-merging seriously needs to be looked into for these boards, especially this one. I think that's going to be my "dead horse" I keep trotting out.
Forbin_Project has me go back to other places' methods:
Well you said many of us agree with old dev statements just to agree with them. That's not entirely true. Some people are just tired of seeing the same dead horse get trotted out. -
Quote:Oh, sure, but this new info about the 30-day limit (was this ever said anywhere before now?) changes how I use it. I didn't get burned, and wouldn't be any more upset then "well DANG!" if I had.
Forbin_Project is a town without pity:
No offense but I'm not going to feel sympathy if someone gets burned when they are using a feature in a way it wasn't intended.
Not to mention not using things as intended is a tradition in this game. Our SG wouldn't have nearly as many members if we "worked as intended".

Quote:The difference is that with the big mobs, you're moving around, using different powers, using strategy over who gets killed first, etc., etc.
BrandX doesn't get it:
Not trolling at all.
I'm saying, I find it fun. Me taking on a bag of hit points makes me think I'm fighting a real super hero fight.
I'm saying I don't see the reasoning of "pressing 1-2-3-4" as a factor of not being fun, when that's what you're doing when you're wading through mob after mob anyway.
When you're fighting a big bag of HP like Reichsman, you're just standing there endlessly repeating the same things.
EDIT: Smurphy beat me to it. -
Quote:Yeah, whatever. Maybe someday you'll learn to read.
Perfect_Pain stands her ground:
Ya they are. Period. Same stuff different poster. -
Man, a whole LOT of the stuff on the cards has nothing to do with bad teams. Needs some major revision.
-
Quote:Well, it was there then. Doesn't mean it was always there. Isn't there lore claiming the Greek Gods were the result of a similar opening at one point, or is that just speculation? It's a possibility that they moved it there after they found it whereever.
Golden Girl thinks static:
Well, the Well of the Furies seems to be located in or close to Greece, so it's more likely that Westerners would come accross it than people from other areas of the world, especially in older times when people didn't travel so much. -
Quote:Got that right!
TerraDraconis pegs it:
No only the strange people are left.Welcome home, Athyna!
-
Seriously. We don't ever "break into" anything. Worst could be said is "illegal entry/trespassing".
Criminals are kind of dumb for not locking the doors... -
Been here since late I6 and I'll be here when they close the doors. Only break I've taken was the six months I had a broken computer and even then I kept my account up for a few of those (took longer than I figured to get reconnected...I'm poor
).
I knew a week or two in this was the game for me. I'm not a gamer, I'm a super-hero geek! Finding the Legion of Valor and a bunch of new friends a few months later cemented that quite firmly. I tried "that other game" in Beta and only found it full of Jack's flaws that I was glad went away when he did. I have absolutely no interest in DCUO or MUO. I wanted a new world to play in, not deal with the same-old same-old. Here I can make my own stuff, with my own background that doesn't have 70 years worth of lore to wonder if I'm contradicting. I treat Paragon like it's my own personal Astro City.
So, in short, it's the game itself and the people I've met that keep me coming back for more. -
Quote:The point here is, the name "Thor" is untrademarkable for general purposes, as it's an old Norse God. Marvel can only trademark it as a comic title (see the "Capt. Marvel/Shazam debacle"), not as a name (except when the name refers specifically to the Marvel Thor combined with his visual appearance).
ClawsandEffect missed it:
Most of the alternately spelled names that have been genericced over the years have probably been blocked so no one else uses them after they get modsmacked. Would probably get annoying to keep having to generic "Ironman" and "Iron-Man" over and over, so they most likely block the name after they nuke it for that reason alone.
Quote:Also, when blocking a copyrighted name, wouldn't it make sense to block the most obvious alternate spelling as well?
I'm wondering, especially since none of the others of the Norse Gods are blocked, if maybe the devs were saving it for themselves at one point. I mean, there is a Heracles in the game. -
I couldn't understand a word of the spoken stuff, as the voices are so low in the mix and overpowered by the music.
-
Quote:Actually, a lot of us have been using it for just that. I've been keeping a running bank there as well as several attachment mails.
Forbin_Project wonders:
Why would it take someone more than 30 days to claim an email? Especially if they sent it to themselves. It's not a storage bin.
Quote:Edit: Although I will agree with others that they should have done a better job of notifying everyone of the 30 day deadline. ).

Quote:I suspect you're using the game generated tournaments and matches? Those are almost never used. Yeah, I've spent many an hour signed up on those back in the day to no result. Almost all Arena matches take place under the player made part. I'd suggest joining the global Arena channel for access to more info about who's fighting when.
123eric needs direction:
I have not tried the arena yet, it seems that it is not busy enough for the amount of people needed to fill before the start time. -
Quote:D'oh! Yeah, I forgot about that outside the game hack. Please disregard my earlier "no".
Dechs Kaison works outside the box:
Yes there is, let me find it.
Edit: Here! -
What's a "vanity hologram"?
EDIT: Rereading it, I guess you mean "non-combat pet". -
Quote:Pleasedtameetcha!
TheJazMan can shake hands:
I agree. I have yet to meet someone who is more than happy to do all of the older TFs but I am sure those players are out there. And I've done them plenty of times with no one having stealth and no one complained. I do just go along without complaint when people want to stealth them. I have to assume there's a lot of people out there like me that don't much care one way or another.
I've also been on several where the "stealther" keeps dying and we have to plow through anyway... -
While that'd be nice, they're really not at all that cumbersome to set up. Bind a flypose to a key. Start flying. Hit bind. I do it habitually now.

David Nakayama as a mathematician makes a good artist:
Coming. One thread at a time though. -
YOUR idea:
CoX sets up a site that you can link to that gives someone 7 days for free (if following the Age of Conan way).
HIS idea:
Lots of people on their own set up links from their favorite places to CoX's official sites, makes funny advertisements on their own and basically spread the word.
The only thing those two things have in common is that they're both forms of advertisement. Beyond that, they have little to nothing to do with each other. Just because you both mention Facebook doesn't mean your idea is the same as his.
To answer this...
Quote:Because they're not at all "the same damn thing". I would still be in favor of his idea and not yours. Yours wants CoX to give stuff away and do extra work. His idea is that we just spread the word in various ways.Perfect Pain complained:
Wow I suggested the same damn thing about 8 months ago and all the snobs came to the thread and shut it down. "Oh I dont want to have anything on facebook or twitter" "Thats a bad idea" "Just no". -
Heh, I thought it would be strange given your time. It's just that your typos looked so familiar from my drinking days. Plus, you know...Canadian...
But to what "game junk" are you referring? -
One thing you need to learn about this game. No archetype (not class) is "better" than another here. It all depends on what you want to do and what you find fun. They can all be soloed (at varying degrees of difficulty) and they all add to teams. Nothing is gimped. In fact, you'd have to try really hard to make any powersets "unplayable". You can make a ton of "mistakes" in power picking and still be viable.
So, try a few different ones out and see if you like one better than another. The game basically begs for you to have lots of alts anyway.
EDIT: Ha! Serves me right for typing so much. -
Quote:I'm unclear how wanting an official link with a premium attached is anything at all like the "grass roots"/"let's all help the game by advertising for it" suggestion by the OP.
Perfect_Pain confuses me:

None. I don't think there needs to be this type of incentive program and think Vet Rewards work fine just like they are.
