I'll let the 'dude' and 'brotha' pass. ;p
It's good to be back.
---er, right. Moving on. =)
Loved the sentiment in your original post. Yeah, I think a lot of us here feel that way too.
Cheers. Welcome back.

It's nice to see a smiling face... So to speak
Welcome back, welcome home, and welcome to the only MMO I've played that does not have "punching you in the gut" as part of its features pacakge.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

Yes, it seems awfully redundant - even to me, as I type this - to post a review on a wildly popular and long running MMO... But to heck with it, I want to so I'm gonna.
To start, I'm going to give a little context information:
Years ago, when I depressed (My lord, angst! I found caffeine. Life got better.), lonely individual who was tired of spending all day replaying old Play Station games and listening to the news, unable to find a group of local table top role players, I turned to the internet to meet my social gaming needs.
I found MMOs. They were good. But I was unable to afford them, so I could only play free games... I did, however, discover that one of my favorite free servers was illegal. I backed out of MMO gaming for a while after that, promising myself that I'd find some way to play the games legitimately. Of course, I also promised myself that, if I could afford to play a pay-to-play game, I'd play something better.
A friend suggested that I try City of Villains. Now, I had an old, dying laptop and a slow internet connection, so I was worried I'd be wasting my money... But never the less, I tried it.
It was slow. It lagged. It took ten to fifteen minutes to load a mission map. I'd often come out of a mission and, by the time the graphics loaded I'd find I had been killed by some invading Rikti or zombies. Never the less, it was fun. After coming from the low-end graphics and limited options of... I'll just say 'my old MMO of choice', to avoid stepping on toes... It was stunning to find so many options. And every single one of them was fun.
Unfortunately, I couldn't afford the game and eventually my laptop gave up the ghost, so the CoV DVD was played on a shelf on my computer desk to gather dust.
A year later, my laptop finally died (for the third time) and could not be brought back. I was sad, of course; That laptop had given me years of service and I had so many fond memories. But it gave me the excuse I needed to spend a little money, something I'm not quick to do in most cases, to buy a new computer.
I also possessed a Paypal account by that point in time, doing some artwork for chump change. (My 'entertainment budget', as I like to call it...)
So one of the very first things I did, after rebuilding my settings and files to the best of my ability, was to take out that old DVD and reinstall in City of Villains. A one month subscription later, I was back in the game.
Once again, my mind was blown. The game had changed so much from a year before, but it still felt the same. Instead of feeling foreign, it simply felt better. I remember a time when Fateweavers would charge for their services.
I've been back for over four months. And I never want to leave again.
I love the game more now then ever before. Every update is wonderful. Every player is wonderful. Every time I log in, the game is enjoyable. From the mission architect to Ouroboros and every other feature I never had a chance to try, I love them all.
So that's my review. In short, I'm a reclusive gamer living in the middle of no where, so my opinion may not matter to some, but it matters to me. This is the greatest game I've ever played and I'm glad I'll be here to watch it grow.
