Steelclaw never ceases to deliver pure comedy.
PLEASE someone make this into an MA Arc. I will play it repeatedly. -

Quote:I have to see this. One pretty cool thing I have discovered.. I have a short Monkey based martial artist scrapper. If I target an enemy, hold down follow and then the jump key, I will be locked into a cycle where I perpetually jump on their head, and can execute some sweet attacks from what looks like their shoulders... Silly but really fun!
What server are you on? -
Please add the link in my sig. It's a guide explaining the benefits of hitting the soft cap with defense, backed up by probability and statistical analysis.
Thanks! -
Battle drones? Maybe better off without.
Protectors? Probably better off without.
Assbot? STAY OFF MY ASSBOT! He's huge! I want him to smack people! I mean, LOOK AT THAT THING! He brawls with a metric ton of metal! I know it has a chance for stun, but it should cause fear too! -
I'd like to add that epic does not mean, should not mean, and never was intended to mean "better" than other ATs.
If you PL'd to 50 just to get an "epic" thinking you'd be über... you're going to be sorely disappointed with the VEATs and HEATs. -

Quote:I would be behind this 100%. If they don't do some kind of "invalid target" mechanic, though, they should not add the option to decline buffs. Here's a thought: What if, when someone declined a power effect, whether it was a teleport, Mystic Fortune, or one of these theoretical Speed Boost/ice shield prompts being discussed here, it didn't actually get used? No endurance wasted, no waiting for it to recharge. At worst, the caster would have wasted time trying, but wouldn't be stuck waiting another five minutes or however long before being able to use the power on someone who does want it. Obviously, group effects like Team Teleport would need a special provision, but if some line of code were added that said that if every single recipient of a power, whether it's a single-target buff or a group effect, declined to be affected, the power simply didn't go off...
(Some extension of the existing "invalid target" mechanic already at work?)
Imagine if trying to rez someone who'd used their death as an excuse to go to the bathroom without telling the group didn't keep another person who just faceplanted from getting rezzed instead! At least then one of them would be up and back in the fight.
Imagine recall friend. You wait forever while the power activates... then nothing happens! He must have declined the teleport! Doh, I could have had someone else here by now.
Imagine recall friend again. You try to teleport a teammate and it immediately says "Invalid target." Oh well... Next? -

No one's mentioned it, but you should put the Achilles Heel chance for -resist in there somewhere.
-
1. MM's don't need to worry about set bonuses so much because they only apply to you, not your henchmen.
2. That being said, you're pretty much going about this the wrong way entirely. When it comes to slotting your henchmen, you want to put an Achilles heel -resist proc in all three. Split the purple set up to help you slot all three tiers to the ED cap for accuracy and damage. Then find a place to put the unique defense aura and resist aura. This is doable if you frankenslot (use mixed sets). Three acc/damage is equivilant to two acc and two damage.
3. Acid mortar could use some accuracy and definitely an Achilles Heel -resist proc. Seeker drones could use some accuracy as well. You are way overslotting the -tohit. Frankenslot some stun too.
4. You really don't need your personal attacks. Seriously, they don't do enough damage at levels above 20 to make a difference. Take the presence pool for provoke. It'll save your henchmen.
5. Since you seem to have an infinite amount of infamy, get a Panacea chance for +heal/+end and put it in triage beacon. It's a PvP IO, but it has the chance to proc every 10s on anyone in range of the Triage Beacon, including you. Speaking of +end procs, put the one in Stamina.
6. SLOT CALTROPS!!!! Caltrops can take sets from PBAoE and Targetted AoE, which means you can have six procs in it. SIX! If you want to do damage, this is how.
7. I don't know why you don't like webnade. It's useful against bosses to keep them from running. Even if you don't think you'll fight AV's, you will see elite bosses. Frankenslot some accuracy, endurance, recharge, and immobilize. This power is needed. -
Semi-old news by now, but I'm excited nonetheless.
We'll be able to summon and equip before going into the missions, so ambushes and door patrols aren't a problem anymore.
We won't slow the team down at the start of every mission!
I won't have to worry about that nasty end sink at the beginning of every solo mission.
And most importantly: Group fly is now useful! I used to have it for BotZ bonuses, but now it'll be really useful all the time. -
If eight stalkers all did BU+AS at the same time to the same target, would they be able to take down an AV?

Quote:A lot of people are saying stuff like this, and it is unequivocally true. If you have 8 people that know how to play, it doesn't matter what ATs and powersets you choose. I admit that it is hard to find 7 other people who know how to play most times, so I guess this does qualify as "dream team" material.Simple. Me and 7 others who know how to play their characters. What else is needed for steamrolling?
Could a team of 8 FF/rad defenders work? Yes! Will they be able to run STF? Probably, I dunno. It will take a while, that's for sure. I'm sure there are worse ideas that still work.
I'm not arguing that any team can work. I'm looking for what you would consider to be a truly epic team. What could steamroll any content? What would have something for every game scenario? With GR in the pipeline, we can assume that any team can do any content, so no holds barred. What kind of team could not only handle every TF/SF/GM, but do it with ease, no faceplants, and quickly?
Maybe the two of any AT restriction is too much, but I didn't want to see "8 X, built the same." -
My thoughts exactly so far. This issue doesn't have a downside to it, and is giving me everything I wished for since day one.
-
Freespecs don't stack. If you have one, and an issue comes out and you didn't use it, you don't get a new one. I'm guessing it has to do more with the code not allowing more than one freespec, so this is not likely to get implemented.
I do, however, support this idea. Freespecs are always nice. -
I made one of them that you are probably referring to. I was attempting to be sarcastic/funny about the "For Fun" categorization, but did not realize that it had been that way for years.

Quote:Gah, I can't wait to bring my namesake against GM's like this. Bots/Traps should be able to do this, right?Hey Masterminds!
I downed my first GM! I haven't tried any others yet but I will.
What an awesome AT.
Technogeist VS.The Ghost of Scrapyard!
Thanks for looking.
I just dinged 50 (first one redside w00t!) last night and slotted my first purple enhancement EVAR! Before long and with a lot of farming, I'll have a build capable of ****** GM's. (In case you're wondering, Ragnarok: Chance for Knockdown in caltrops.) -
Quote:This seems like a reasonable solution, but it could be difficult as hell to implement. The real problem is that experienced players don't need that learning step, but they still have to "suffer" through the first 20 levels.
Here's an idea: give a player's sub-20 characters an XP buff that's equal to the sum of the total number of levels of all the characters on the account (or server, if account is too hard). Limit it to, say, 200% (double what you get from double XP weekend).
If you have 4 level 50s or 8 level 25s you'd cap your lowbie XP buff. -
Quote:If someone /friend [you], it puts you on his friends list. That doesn't mean he can send emails to you, it means you can send emails to him.Love the changes, moving on to my one concern, the email issues.
Am I wrong in thinking you don't need someone's permission to /friend them? (as opposed to /gfriend) Seems totally silly to allow someone to /friend you, then email you, and won't stop spam at all. Seems even sillier to make us go through every one of our characters and /friend every one of all our friend's characters just so we can circumvent the spam.(which won't happen with /friend) Use the global name as a test...I doubt most of us use /friend that much at all, currently.
Common sense would seem to suggest the global friend...I'm just...shaking my head at using a character's friends.
But the rest is glorious, and much appreciated.
You would have to put someone on your friend list to receive spam from them. -
I'm going to echo most of what these guys have said. My first MM was bots/bubble. At level 44, I walked away from my computer during a solo fight with a downgraded AV. The fight was over when I came back and I hadn't lost.
Bots/FF is incredibly tough to kill, and you don't really need stamina until you're rocking all three leadership toggles and dispersion bubble.
Level 24 is pretty tough. The whole 18-25 levels suck pretty bad. No Assbot, only one Protector for most of it so he's not shielded, and scrapyarders. Bloody scrapyarders. I routinely go back as a high level just to kill scrapyarders for fun.
Once you get to 26, things get a lot better. You will only have the AoE of the Assbot's flamethrower, but it's still something... Once you hit 32, life becomes easy street. Not only do you have MASSIVE AoE damage, but your prot bots get -tohit seekers which compounds on your defenses. Use force bolt and force bubble to position enemies for maximum burn patch damage. You will love this build. No doubts, you're going to love it. -
You know, there's something written here. There has to be.
But all I read was "whine whine whine."
We're all getting cool stuff. I'll bet scrappers complained when the devs added all the stalker buffs to bring their crit rate on teams above scrappers, but it was still something good being added for someone. Quit your ********. -
-
As I'm typing this, it appears that I will be first.
Alas, I know this to not be true.
Either way, it was a great read.
Thanks as always SC.
EDIT: Holy crap! I was first! -
Quote:Nothing to say, except:I see 100 posts per page, and 6 pages. That's almost 600 posts total. I have read each one. Oddly, you are the only doom and gloom on this thread. Some have pointed out their displeasure, but you are being over verbose in sayin SSK will be the downfall of mankind. Take your SnakeOil back to CO, and leave us shiney happy people alone.
As a side note, I work for a highschool, and oddly enough, the only time the good gets punished for the bad student's actions is when a large population is doing wrong. Generally the good are unaffected by changes that the bad students force.
The good players play both in and out of MA, TF, Radios, Content, in teams or solo for the fun of playing. Even Min/Maxers enjoy the game for the game. The bad, abuse the system, by finding the optimal way of "beating the system."
Bad players abused Cathedral of Pain. Bad Players abused Com Officers. Bad Players abused Wolves/demons/etc. Bad players abused Green Mito's. Bad players are also called Munchkins in the gaming community. If you cheat and can get away with it, its allowed. Bridging, even the auto bridging MA does, is an abuse that needs fixed. I abuse MA. Not alot, but from time to time I will play a "farm" and PL my wife, or she PL me. This system will not hurt, a single good player. The soloist will not notice any differance, and us perma-teamers will love how easy life becomes. OH-NOES we cant maximise our gains by being 5 below the leader anymore, and instead we can actually contribute.
Life here for all of us on CoX is looking great.
