  1. I just signed up over there. Just wondering, how does it work? Do we just watch you guys onscreen, or is there some way to interact? (Please, take pity on me, I only got a cell phone 4 years ago, and a smartphone just last month.)

Don't worry, I'm Canadian, I'm used to adding in that extra u all the time - and constantly getting weird looks from other chatters all the time.
  3. First of all, thank you for explaining why you wanted to have as many players online on one server at one time. Second, thank you for extending the time we can get the badge if you reach that magic number Friday night.

I still won't be able to get in to help with that magic number, but I wish everyone who can get in during the timeframe the best of luck.

(Hmm...I just realized that I made a nice little outfit of a sexy blonde policewoman as a fun thought experiment, but never actually rolled her out. Maybe I'll delete one of the SG pads I have on Freedom and roll her just for fun - and to finally see what Freedom is really like. )

No, Anime North here in Toronto. It's only something like the 3rd largest by attendance anime convention in North America.
  5. I have to agree with others that that inf total might be a tad low. My lone 50 has become my alt's defacto suga' momma as of late, handing out at least a million inf to each new one I've made over the past 18 months. And even with that, she's on the healthy side of 186M inf.
  6. I hope that May 27th is the end date. That's the start of my anime convention, and I won't be home until late on the 29th.
  7. Well I'm ready to give a big finger to the new content, mainly because it looks like in order to force us to play the new content, the devs have nerfed the shard droprate to almost nothing so we can't hord them to convert to threads. That is just wrong on so many levels.
  8. Personally, I'm worried that the new trials - along with the Alpha Slot trial - will be much like the Halloween Banners event. For the last two years, I've seen almost no action towards the end of the Halloween event, because just about everyone who did the banners at the start refuses to help out after they've gotten their goodies because it is so tough and a slog-fest, with frustration levels set to maximum.

I understand that the devs want us to go a certain way with this new content. However, didn't they want to see things go a certain way with PVP, AE, etc. and then have to scramble to fix holes and exploits when things didn't go the way they wanted? That's also what could happen here.
  9. Personally, I think we should boycott all TFs until the devs dial down the lethality of these new incarnate TFs. Constantly faceplanting - sometimes without even getting a chance to hit something - and failing TFs is not fun for a lot of people.

If the devs are trying to entice 'WOW babies' by ramping up the difficulty for them, then they will chase away more players then they get. They need to stop the madness.

All the arguing against the wants of solo players seems to be from people who think that WoW is the only template for an MMO. CoH has been solo friendly from day one. What concerns me is the new attitude and direction -- raid raid raid raid raid! And it's challenging! You have to figure out how to do ti juuuuuuuuust right. And you don't have to have certain powersets and AT's, it's just that some powersets and AT's will be next to useless, but they can come along and watch.

It sucks. If they stay on this path it will kill what makes this game special. Raiders have Hami raids. Let them do that.

Give us more story. Give us more worlds. Level cap is just a number. You can raise it to 1000 and people will still reach it and then you'll have to raise it to 1001. It won't make the game more intersesting. It just adds to the endless grinding. I'd rather have real content. Interesting content. Things that make me go wow, not WoW.

I have to agree fully here. After taking the last 15 minutes to read through some of the feedback on the BAF trial, I too am having my concerns of where the game is being dragged reinforced. I am an average casual player, and not someone who has the time to go out and grind out inf in order to be able to 'bling out' (as one friend put it) my lone 50 in order to be able to have a chance at succeeding at one of the new trials.

I'm also with Heroid here, in that I've feared for the last little while the devs have been trying to entice players from other MMOs by thinking that they have to emulate those MMOs in order to do so. Please don't do that, it may just end up ruining the game for more people then you entice.

Let me put it another way:

There are two local media conventions that I have been attending and helping out with for the past 15 years. One has a total attendance of around 2,000. The other had an attendance last year of 18,600! For a number of years I kept on hearing some people at the smaller convention saying thing like "Oh man, what can we do to get some of those attendees from <that other con>?", and I would try to explain to some that "Look, 9 out of 10 of those attendees won't be interested in our con, so trying to find a way to change to entice them isn't going to work."

I'm worried that some of the devs are starting to listen to those posters here who have been claiming for years that "We have to get up to WoW numbers in order to remain viable!"

Yes, give us more challenging content, but please don't ignore what made this game fun for many in the first place.
  11. I'd deffinately like this.

Hmmm....I always thought that "Two Days, Two Nights" did that in a better and more subtle way.
  13. American Angel, I feel your frustration in your opening post here. I wish I had found this thread before posting my concerns/frustrations/ideas/suggestions (feel free to decide what they were) over in the committee thread. I too have wanted to see if anything new was going to come down the pipe for base disigners. I have at least one major base - and two smaller ones that I've "inherited" - that I have stopped even thinking about because the current method of doing things gives me nightmares.

Please, we need some love and support too.
  14. Just want to put my 2 INF in here. Sorry if it's been said before - it's waaaay too late to read over every single post here - but I wanted to get this out there.

I would like the idea of seeing 'building blocks' for walls and floors. Maybe at different cost levels for different sizes - from a 1x2 up to a 16x16 floor unit for doing multiple floors in one of those large base rooms. (If you look at it, you can have up to 3 'floors' with maximum space settings.)

I'd also like to ask for some simple items, like a fridge and stovetop for a base kitchenette. I never warmed to the idea of having to use up to 5-6 items to put something like that together - or using one of the metalic counters and claim it's an industrial sized griddle - and then if I wanted to move it I'd have to move each of those pieces seperately.

And specificly for one of my SGs, I wanted to build a private movie theater, but I ended up having to use 33 thousand of the frameless canveses on one wall. Again, yet another example of where 'building blocks' would be useful.

I remember when I first came onto these forums, and heard about other people wanting stuff like this, and thought "Oh gawds no, it'd just be 'The Sims COH'!" But now, in a way, I'm thinking that that is what I and many others actually want - at least for the bases and simple apartments.

Oh, and one last thing, could we have more coices in beds? At least beyond the simple either/or choice between an army cot and something that looks like it was designed by the Marquie de Sade?

(Figured all you guys with 80+ lvl 50's would kinda like this idea)
I usually have at least four trays open anyways:

-Tray 1 - primary offensive powers
    -Tray 2 - secondary offensive powers(including Nemisis Staff/Black Wand)/primary defensive powers
    -Tray 3 - Rest/secondary defensive powers/temp powers
    -Tray 4 - movement powers.

(My Masterminds have Tray 5 under the target window with all their pet powers.)

So I usually don't have a problem of overflow after a respec - and having already done a dozen since I19 went live, I've had plenty of experience doing so.
  16. Looking back over the past year, I figured that there were a month or two where I might have logged in for a brief time to move some alts around to different Day Job sites, or to keep an alt current as leader of a SG...and that was pretty much it. Now, do I feel gyped out of that $15 (which with the conversion rate was closer to $17 CDN for a while there) for those months? No, not in the least.

Grant it, that was around late Spring/early Summer, when I was busy with a number of RL events I was involved in, but I still found some time to keep an eye on things. Plus, keeping my subscription current keeps me on track for vet rewards. In fact, before my RL friend finally moved on from COH - he found something else more to his liking, and because of RL financial issues, couldn't justify two subscriptions to two different games at the same time - he had let his account lapse much like you, to the point that I had surpased him on the vet reward ladder.

And as to being a grind? Yes, it does feel like a grind, at different rates for different ATs and power combos, but I was finding I was outleveling content and contacts years ago when the grind seemed much harder.

Now, I've been playing for 4 1/2 years, and only have 1 lvl 50. Is that because I'm too much of a casual gamer? Is that because I have too many alts - some of which are just because I had an idea for a new costume/power set combo that I just had to put together - across too many servers? (In fact, I have one alt that I built for the sole purpose of entering the 'dress up as your toon' costume contest they had 2-3 years ago one Halloween.)

Or maybe it's because from time to time I'll just stop and hang out in AP or Pocket D or whereever, and talk with other players. Trust me, I've had some good conversations - and more than a few funny moments - that were far better than just leveling through content and mowing down baddies.

So, in short, HELL NO! to F2P for COH. I have to agree with just about everyone else here, the microtransactions would kill off a lot of the game for me.

(BTW, I stopped playing one 'free' Facebook game when after saying that we didn't need the special in-game cash - that you bought with real money - in order to be able to play the game, they created new content that you could only play if you had that in-game cash.)
  17. Check under your Powers tab. It might be that you took there out of your tray at one point, and forgot that you still had them. From what I've seen over the past few years, they only refresh into your tray if you've used one or both of them.

    No new zones

Well, I've been waiting forever for that little extention in the north-east corner of Steel Canyon to open. You know, the one that was on the map that came with the Architect box?
  19. I'm wondering why the devs have gone out of their way over the past year or so to make just about everything more cumbersome, more difficult, and very unsolable? There might be some twisted logic in thinking that this is a good way to make the game more challenging. I, on the other hand, think that it may end up chasing players away - both old hands and newbie.
  20. I just sent in a query on the support page about the store. Seems I got billed twice for the Party Pack. I typed in all the info, hit 'submit', and the loading screen hung. So, I hit 'back' and tried again, and again the screen hung (at about 1/3 progress).

I then checked my account summary and found that I had paid twice for the pack.

(I'm wondering, because it's involving credit cards, that part of the problem here might be congestion loading to the credit card site due to bombardment from those Wikileaks supporters/'useful idiots'?)
  21. I'd agree with increasing the bio space from 1,024 to 2,048 character spaces. I also like the idea of making the ID screen look more like an actual ID card, with spaces for hair & eye colour, height, etc.

I know that by combining the backstory of three of my alts on Champion server, I was able to get a nice story going. (Okay, I'll admit, I borrowed the concept for their origins from the second season on Veronica Mars. BTW, where would be a good place on these forums to post character bios?)
  22. My family's Christmas party is the day after this starts. Then, from Dec. 30 to Jan. 1 I'm busy at a New Year's 'relaxacon'. Not to mention all my regular RL stuff, and I don't know how much time I'll have for this.

  24. Great ideas, but I was thinking of the person who would like to play this game without having to feel that they have to download all these little programs in order to track all these things. Also, I remember playing this game on the minimal specifications, and how I had to make sure I closed down all other programs in order to run COH without fear of crashing. I'm sure there are still players out there who can not afford a system higher than the minimum specifications, and thus something like this would help them immensly.
  25. Last night I was running my lvl 50 around the Praetorian Underground, grabbing badges and such. I was frustrated by what I felt was one badge not being awarded to me, so much so that I petitioned and got a GM to help me with it. What happened made me feel so stupid - it was another exploration badge I didn't have, not the one whose marker I had been stading on for about 10 minutes.

I was using the list under the zone exploration badge accolade, but not knowing which one was the last one I needed was irritating. I'm wondering if in a future issue, a few minutes of time could be taken to see about colouring the badges we already have in those lists a different colour (say, yellow, for instance) so we know which ones we have and which ones we still need to collect?

I'm sure I'm not the only one badge collector here who would love to see this minor QoL tweek happen.
