Are you averse to us positioning certain NPCs to someplace a little more scenic to represent the zone? Or are we going for accuracy over style here?

Actually, I think that /airguitar really should have waited until we have animated hair. If you can't make your hair go swinging around and around as you mosh, it's just not the same thing.
Will I be buying it? Probably - videographer, demofiles, wanting everything, support the game, stupidly loyal dev fangirl, etc etc etc.
Do I want this trend to continue? Not particularly, no. $7.99 for emotes and costume pieces and a power or two and a badge, deal. (I will let others do the math for how much each 'booster' is worth.) Eight bucks for a dollar an emote? No. (And this from the woman who has said more than once she would pay twenty bucks JUST for the WALK emote!)
And whoever said this smacks of a bet b/w the devs and the marketing team, I think you're right. Let this be a one-time failure of an experiment, and let the Powers That Be learn from it.
This last bit is directed at marketing, as I see the hand of Executive Meddling at work here:
We will happily throw money at you from now until you turn off the servers. There are a lot of things above and beyond the $14.99 we spend each month we are willing to pay for, to maximize our enjoyment of this game. But please continue to respect us by providing a good quality-to-cost ratio.

This seems to be a running theme with me and these features. All of them seem like they ought to be so much more.

Yeah, while for playback it can be wonky, but it's great for tracking math in certain instances (hit points, damage/percentage rolls, etc). I use it to record emotes, enemies, locations, graphics, etc.

My personal vote is, of course, the /demorecord feature. So many folks want to track stuff, or immortalize something (the all-defender Lusca force, for example), but don't know how. They use FRAPS in-game, which bogs things down more than a bit, especially with the UI still up and running.
It is the ONLY thing Cryptic has given us that I am grateful for (I'd kill for this in a certain other NCsoft game that shall remain nameless), and is a feature in at least three of their games.

My husband plays a grav/en dom, has a blast playing him, and has taken him into PvP and done quite well with him (and took him to 50 before they modified doms, FYI). Drop Bloodspeaker a PM, he'll be happy to give you some insight into grav/en doms.

A native New Yorker, I was at grad school at the U of Arizona. My mom called early that morning, waking up John and me in an absolute panic. We all spent the day frantically calling friends and family back home to make sure everyone was all right. (I got emails all day from classmates and friends who knew I was from NYC, expressing well wishes and concern for me and mine.)
Family was fine, friends were fine... but then the email went out that evening that a Clanmate of mine (read: coven) was listed as missing in the Pentagon. We waited and prayed and hoped, but it was later confirmed she'd been killed. Our Mabon (Sept 21st) ritual that year was the most somber in the entire Clan's recollection.
The UA built this huge temporary wall that people could post messages on - remembrances, well-wishes, etc. Generally, it was a very positive experience, but the hate that came out from it was ugly. I also remember that several Middle Eastern students had to be evacuated off the UA campus because of threats of violence.

Funny thing is, I once asked Dr. Aeon (the dev) who he thought should voice the good doctor. Sean came back with "well, Aeon thinks he sounds like Antonio Banderas." So maybe I should have Leandro voice Dr. Aeon the next time he appears in a video of mine.

Yep, Ash's got a lot of the basics here. To add a bit of my own:
Sony Vegas Movie Studio
The Good: I use it, it's quite intuitive, and Sony's pretty good about releasing patches to keep it updated. And if you're willing to invest a bit ($125 for the suite), you get a killer deal and some additional nice software in the bargain for more advanced work.
The Bad: There are certain file types it doesn't play nice with, simply because you can't always have EVERYTHING. Generally, though, it's not an issue for CoH videography (it's only coz I use it for other stuff that I know this).

FRAPS and Recording
To save yourself some embarrassment and hassle in-game, once you select the toggle on/toggle off key for FRAPS, make sure you have not inadvertently chosen something that either shouts out "LOOKING FOR TEAM" or changes your costume or something.
Also, because FRAPS videos can be quite large, if you are FRAPSing a demofile, watch the entire file through once, then FRAPS only the sections you need. Your hard drive will be grateful.

Also, when choosing your actual export file, I have found WMVs to be relatively compressed, not too humongous, and of good quality. AVIs can be nice too, but tend to be bigger.
