  1. Branchala, I've got a thread open in here about the same issue. You might try some of the suggested solutions to see if it resolves your issue.

I love some of the new badge names.

  3. Feycat: you should try Council Skeet-shooting.

You need at least a couple people for this. Someone with Teleport Foe stands near Moonfire or Ravenstorm, and yanks a random Council agent up to them. If that same person has a major 'launch' power (ie something with knockback), they then send them flying (I often use Power Thrust). Anyone else with blaster powers then tries to hit the Council schmuck after he's been launched into the air.

My husband and I were killing time waiting to start a Moonfire by doing this... then a group of players about to start a Hess wandered past and decided to join us. Then another group of players. We must have had like 20 people on the ground opening fire every time I yanked and smacked a Council. People were just howling with laughter.

Between that and Lobster Racing in Atlas Park, the humor potential in this game is unreal.

  4. Things I love...

    a) in general, the community - having participated in other online games before, this one has the nicest community, hands-down.

    b) DEMORECORD. Oh, Cryptic, this may be the one thing you contributed to this game that I will forever be grateful for. Machinima was never the same after this little invention. And Ken Morse, at HeroCon 2009, saved my life with those fateful words... "Yes, Michelle, demorecord works with Ultra Mode." It is the single reason I dread the day a new game engine for COH comes out, because I live in fear that they will remove this wonderful, wonderful feature. Which leads to...

    c) The Mission Architect. I admit, while I use it for its intended purpose, I use it for another reason... it's a ******* customizable soundstage and filming ground. I have maps... I have enemies... I have stuff I can place on the map... and if I take in my Mastermind, I have my own film crew. I almost cried with joy the day I discovered the EMPTY map feature.

    d) The storylines and lore. Just... wow. Now if we could only get Ouroborous to flashback FARTHER than just in-game missions...

    e) The creative freedom. Anything goes in this game (almost, but then you get generic'd). Hyperactive psychic with her own link to the Netherworld? Priest who suddenly develops superpowers to save his congregation in more than one meaning of the word? A walking Pauli effect who can fight crime by causing chaos amongst villains? Sure!

    YES!

I know that some people on Virtue are pretty confident they can walk away with it again as the server that raises the most in donations. I love them for it, too, but I always cheer for the underdogs.

Don't forget that we'll be hosting our concluding Real World Hero Celebration Ball on the server with the highest donations. I don't know how exciting that sounds to Justice, but I remember having a really great time at it last year.

Samuraiko, if I haven't yet said it enough, thank you for the stupendous announcement video you created for Real World Hero this year. I hope you are still receiving compliments on it. Thank you!

    Best regards,

The MA can be a great tool for telling an awesome story - it's a slightly different mentality than writing fanfic itself (prose), but I've now done three or four missions that were SERIOUSLY story-oriented (as opposed to parody or experimental in nature), and learned a lot about telling a story in a concise, compelling way.

(This from a fellow diehard fanfic writer... see the signature.)

The links mentioned above are some of your best bets for finding quality arcs. I'd also recommend joining the channel MA Arc Finder - folks will help you create stuff ("hey, is such-and-such NPC this or that?" or "what map was in this arc?"), and are very accessible and giving with advice.

Welcome to the AE, and good luck with your stories!

  11. I think it's coz the Origins and Party pack are the most recent... maybe the next time they have the sale, they'll get the half price cost.

As for me, I already own all the booster packs. All in the name of filming...

  13. I will probably go see this, most likely with my gaming group so we can quietly snark our way through the film. (Like we do with virtually every superhero movie.) My taste in movies is varied enough that I can get away with it.

(And I agree, Yogi Bear is definitely on the 'miss' list. Of the trailers I saw today before HP7a... "Season of the Witch", probably. "Green Hornet," probably. "Green Lantern," most likely. "Red Riding Hood," not even for Gary Oldman whom I adore.)

I rarely respec my characters, and when I do, I have enough from the vet rewards to just use those...

  16. After seeing HP7a again today (and enjoying it just as much the 2nd time), one thing I noticed about the animation sequence...

... did anyone else get the impression how Death looked an AWFUL lot like Voldemort? Those flowing style robes, that body language... I really wonder if the animators were watching Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort when they did the modelling for Death.

    Is it July yet?

@Dark_Respite: I did find out about Zero Project watching one of your videos. I don't remember though, did you use that exact same piece? If you did, it's a funny coincidence, cause I listened to everything they have on their homepage and just thought that piece was the one that worked best for the movie.
That's where I recognized it - no, I didn't use that particular piece, but I have everything Nikos has done saved on my computer. Isn't his stuff awesome?

  19. Okay guys, the Real World Hero event has started as of November 19th... and Virtue is already WELL in the lead for donations. Infinity has second place! We're not even on the BOARD yet! It is an affront to Justice that this is happening. No!

Sure, they've got numbers, but we're JUSTICE, damn it! We can ninja them in the name of charity!

So hit the Real World Hero site (and check out the video I made for them, too, and feel free to use it to spread the word), and give to those in need! (I will be donating as soon as my first real paycheck shows up!)

And rally the troops in the name of JUSTICE!

One day, my current situation of moving to a new place to live notwithstanding, I'll put together a body of work that is half the quality of yours. Truly. I often wish I had more time and more patience to work on my own stuff just so I could send you a message to say 'hey, look what I done!'

I look forward to you expanding your projects and trying your hand at different kinds of work.

That's actually one of the best compliments for me... when someone is inspired to try and make vids of their own because they've seen mine, or they've watched my series on making vids and it helps them understand how to make their own (or make them better).

I was thrilled when they started the stickied "Fan Videos" thread in the Multi-Media section, because now all of the vids were in one place, and there were so many more than I'd thought at first! So when my stuff helps get other people to make and post THEIR stuff, it's a good thing. IMNSHO, anyway.

  25. It's actually a Nemesis plot. By adjusting the lunar orbit and always allowing a full moon to rise, it maximizes the transformation possibilities of War Wolves and the like... thus allowing heroes to slay them more easily, and in turn weaken the 5th Column and the Council.
