Last I heard, the devs' position is that the Mission Architect currently fulfills this role in the game, which I think is a damn shame because it doesn't fulfill it very well.
The new phasing tech introduced in Going Rogue and further developed in I21/Freedom could be put to excellent use in conjunction with nemesis (lowercase n!) technology.
On a final note, because I can't help myself:

Quote:Duray's airstrike manages to fire through the overpasses of Skyway City, and War Walker summon their orbital bombardments on inside maps all the time. And that's not even addressing the missile strike temp powers that players have had access to since Issue 6.I wanted to include that on the list but I don't know how well that would've worked on indoor maps (I haven't done the Sutton TF; so I don't know what that particular one looks like).
People would still whine about it but it's not really a conceptual issue at all if you look at the precedent that the game has set. -
I could also assume that a good PR move would be to announce that while Freedom is delayed it is indeed too late to turn back on the removal of the items from the Old Store due to reasons beyond their control, but I've given up on ever seeing good PR moves from this game.

I'm having a really hard time with the argument "limited free accounts won't win the devs any new subs because free players will see all the cool stuff paying players get".
That said, I still don't think it's going to be as many new subs as the devs seem to think it's going to be. -
Quote:You could always blame them for choosing to stick with their plans to remove Boosters 'n such from the store when they knew Freedom (and consequently the new Paragon Store) would be significantly delayed. They removed everything because it was supposed to launch September 1. Free trials ended on August 29. All the paid product left the store on August 30. Then Freedom was supposed to launch September 1. However, there are showstopper bugs in beta that are still being worked out (part of one bug isn't in our development's control but another company entirely) so you can't really blame them.
I mean, you CAN blame them, but it'd be kinda silly and mean.
Because that was pretty silly too. -
Quote:I have soloed Adamaster on my main, an Inv/SS tank. Took forever. But it was long before Incarnates. I don't think we had IOs even, but I could be wrong. It has been a long time either way.
How did you even manage to do enough damage to counter his regen? Or was this before the GM buff in Issue 7?
Quote:yeah. I've gone after Scrappy with my own Bots / Dark multiple times... on most of them he just takes off running and get's himself droned.
At one point I managed to get him as he was spawning over in the Graveyard, far from any drones... except then he tore off into the factory and jumped everywhere in the walls.
I made a passing attempt at Scrapyard once...never again. -
Quote:Why do people keep misusing this word? "Anti-social" does not mean you don't like to socialize. it means something else entirely and it's not at all a positive thing. The hide function that people have mentioned above works like a charm. If you are one of those that are completely anti-social...
This. If you just team with random Broadcast folks then you're gonna run into a fair amount of jerks, global channels is where it's at. -
Quote:Lotsa personal details here that I don't especially care about, but this game isn't EQ2, and I doubt it has the population that game does.As far as the site being a ghost town, this weekend my wife has been playing EQ2. She has been in full teams 17 hours a day (with a few breaks for meals) and has been in 4-24 toon raids. Its true she took the actual holiday off today, to pick up her family from the airport and to take a break from the computer which she was playing pretty much nonstop. By the way, EQ2 has been doing DxP weekends on holidays as long as I can remember...about 3 years with my brain being half dead from a stroke

No, we don't know that. All we know is that the devs are doing "something" for Dominators. I don't believe it's been said that it's a new set.

I'm kind of at the point where I think I might become a supervillain under such circumstances, honestly. Not even the "take what I want" kind of supervillain (a Rogue in CoH terms), I would actively plot the downfall of humanity.
I'm not overly proud of this. -
Quote:Honestly, I feel like we're coming back to that in a way (and not just for Doctor Who), albeit in a different form. I mean, just look at the story we're dealing with here. The Silence was first mentioned at the start of season 5, and despite a lot of progress the plotline still hasn't fully resolved itself. Look at shows like Heroes, Lost, and late DS9, all of which were episodic but also highly serialized.I think the episode limits and length of episodes doesn't help these matters. There's been a bunch of sub-par episodes that could easily have been better given an extra part or so. Ah well, the days of the serials are long gone.
Networks like episodic television because it's more likely a person will be able to start watching a show mid-season, so any return to a serial format must necessarily be episodic to some degree.
In regards to Doctor Who, I don't know how beneficial it would be to go back to the pure serial format. I've only seen a few of the classic serials, so it's possible they were just all crummy, but most of them really seemed to drag on much more than they needed to. I know the First Doctor is probably not the best place to look for refined serials, but I thought The Daleks was about twice as long as it needed to be. -
Quote:Most people are usually busy doing stuff with their families. Double XP on Christmas wouldn't help me one lick if I'm at my parents' house with no way to play. The few people that would be on would likely find themselves struggling to find teams.Ok. Your missing the point. The point being that if they had it on major holiday weekends people would know AND would possibly have time off to play.
Quote:Also, folks keep bringing up the fact that its too often. So, to answer my own question. Federal holidays with weekends (per a federal website)Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day. I count 7. Does 7 days per a 365 day calander year seem too much? No sarcasm intended. If you wish, take out the weekend part to "save" days. And yes, people may want to do something else their holiday, but you can't please everyone...right?
No, you can't please everyone, but it's generally considered nice to satisfy at least the majority of your playerbase, and the majority won't be playing on holidays. I know because in the past I have had the occasion to log on during holidays and it was a ghost town. Double XP might increase this by some amount but I doubt it would be by very much.
Even just more frequent Double XP weekends (not on national holidays) would make more sense than putting them on actual holidays (but it would still cheapen them). -

I like this plan! I'm excited to be a part of it!

Don't you still get the Tell chime even if you don't have the channel added to any of your tabs? I could see that getting annoying. Global Hide would be the way to go here, that way the only people who could possibly send you a tell are people who actually see you out in the game world.
I still don't quite understand the situation though. One team, a group of people, got grumpy about your KB and now you won't team with anyone? I mean, pretty much as long as you control your KB and aren't constantly spreading mobs away from the melee-types (and to be fair, this can be really annoying), most people aren't going to care. And it's not really fair to paint all "expert-type" players as ones who will nitpick every single detail and harass you about how you play, the true experts know what really matters and what doesn't.
I'm not trying to tell you that you should team or that you're wrong about wanting to solo (I solo most of the time myself unless it's a TF or trial), I just thought I'd bring an additional perspective to the situation. -
I don't understand what this thread means.

Bots/Dark is another good one, plenty of -Regen there. I've soloed GMs on mine.

His stuntman looked pretty terrible in the shots from when The First Avenger was filming. I'm sure he'll look fine in the movie.

Quote:There's an actual petition going around for that. There is part of me that wants Tennant to be a torch bearer at some point while it's traveling through Great Britain.
Not even joking. Found out about it while I was looking for the scene I mentioned above from Fear Her. -
You're absolutely right though, with all the changes that are coming with this change, it's entirely possible to look at this and initially think "oh wait, does this mean they're taking stuff away from us". I'm still incredibly skeptical about Freedom, but the fact that everything we have now translates to the new system is a slight relief.

Quote:Auto-checked. Nothing you've purchased or earned is taken away from you as a VIP.Here is another question. I'm reading the Rewards system and converting from the old Veterans System. The Tiers contain many items (probably all items) from the current Veterans System and more. They are giving us tokens for each badge we already have. But it doesn't say what happens when we reach a reward in the tier that we had already gotten via the Previous system.
Are they going to be taking those away from us and we have to re-acquire them with the tokens or will they be auto checked off for us? -

Did the BBC also show an ad for Doctor Who toys, or was that just on BBC America?
