Yes it does and no we're not. The EULA makes explicit mentions of botting, hacks, cheats and pay services like those used by RMTers. Maybe you ought to try actually reading the thing before making your own judgments.

Well there's not just "bad things" as a monolithic group of things. There's criticizing the game, which by itself is not a bannable offense, then there's some of the stuff I've seen on Unleashed, which definitely would be bannable or at least moddable (will somebody please call the OED and have them make some of these into real words? my spellcheck hates me).

Not to mention all the nerfs to accuracy.

    New EULA?

NCsoft has the right, but no obligation, to monitor operation of any service, content or software at any time and in any matter, including but not limited to monitoring communications and communications interfaces, storage devices, random access memory or CPU processes related to hardware you use with the game. Such monitoring may also include, but is not limited to, monitoring for the purposes of detecting software under section 8(c) or 8(e).
Well let's go ahead and take a look at those sections:

    Quote:
    (c) Use, or provide others with, any software related to the Game, including any automation software (a.k.a. "bot") or software designed to change or modify operation of the Game; (d) Use, or provide others with, any "hack," "cheat," "exploit" or "mod"; (e) Use, or provide others with, any service related to the Game, including but not limited to: (i) any service that interacts with the Software; or (ii) any service that that would change characteristics related to a Character ID, such as increasing the level of a character (a.k.a. power-leveling);
Well look at that, they explicitly specified "cheats" right there, along with "bots" and "hacks". Nothing vague about that. Although I do find it interesting that they also specify mods, I wonder where that leaves the VidiotMaps pack and other such graphical mods. I doubt they would enforce any of this as those mods are pretty harmless, but that's still interesting. Was that in the previous EULA?

Quite frankly, how are you envisioning them abusing this ability? What specifically concerns you? You probably don't want to say, because we'll more likely than not point out craptons of software that gives the developers/publishers the exact same rights.
Obviously it doesn't matter if they have no malicious intent now, as clearly the company could turn evil at any time. I mean, think about it, a year ago they introduced a new side-switching mechanic, and suddenly we're supposed to trust that they'll always be good? I don't think so.

That's right Fonzie, they're doing everything they can to entice VIPs to pack up and move over to Exalted. Discounted transfer tokens, special Exalted-only events. This may be all that's needed to start a mass exodus off the smaller servers (Freedom and Virtue will, undoubtedly, be "fine", such as they are). And face it Potsie, there's just not as much incentive to entice free players as there is to entice paying players. Want to get access to the exclusive dev events, free player? Better sub up so you can get onto Exalted. There's literally no financial reason to care whether or not free players are happy.

No, Ralph Malph, I don't have "background info", and yes, I certainly am guessing based on the available facts, and yes I may be wrong. I definitely hope I'm wrong, but I've lost quite a bit of confidence in this game in the past year or two, so I reserve the right to be more than a little worried.

Still doesn't mean he did it on purpose or was careless. He made a mistake. It happens, even if you are 900+ years old (hmm...or maybe 1200+ by now? there's some unaccounted-for time between A Good Man Goes To War and Let's Kill Hitler).

They can already do this and would be doing it if they cared at all about AE anymore, which they don't. They don't need a clause in the EULA to give them permission to alter or remove player-created content in their own game.
  7. The Test Server Copy Tool also lets you copy to Beta (it asks you which server you want to copy over to). If it's not available now I doubt it will be again before the head start goes live.

So he should have known that Amy would push the wrong button and be stuck alone for 36 years? It's as much Rory's fault as his, Rory was the one who didn't specify which button (and the Doctor probably just wasn't listening).

Well with all the running they do, there usually isn't.
  11. I think Westley & co. are worried that the devs will be spying on Unleashed (which they probably already do) and ban their accounts if they dare say anything bad about the game, which would be a legitimately awful thing to do but it's a pretty silly thing to assume.
  12. This wouldn't bother me in the slightest since I'm bored to tears by Lambda at this point and seeing BAFs form literally* makes me sick. I only had the chance to run a Keyes once, on Beta. It was frustrating, mostly because people kept attacking Anti-Matter when the leader specifically said DO NOT ATTACK ANTI-MATTER multiple times, but it was still pretty fun. We even succeeded! Sure would love to do it on Live.

That said, anecdotal evidence is not evidence, I have a bridge to sell you in Atlas Park, etc.

    *Not literally.

Just because I don't think it's likely someone will rob me doesn't mean I think it's smart to sign a document that says my yard service can unlock my house and look around in it whenever they want. Likewise, I don't like having to (ostensibly) consent to allowing NCSoft to basically do anything they want with my personal system because I use their service. They probably won't do anything bad, but I think it's foolish to freely consent to something that gives them permission to do things which could be bad.
You probably already do this more often than you think, fyi. Do you run NoScript on Firefox? If you do, which sites do you have fully unblocked? (If not, why the hell not???) Do you have antivirus software? (This question is entirely rhetorical; of course you do.) You pretty much have to give that free rein in order for it to be effective. Why do you trust AVG/Avast/or god forbid, Norton?

Ever read a credit card contract? Lots of similar legalese in there also (although it's not as bad since the reform act of...2010 I want to say?). In this world you agree to a lot of stuff that, if the person truly wanted to take advantage of you through the agreement, they could and you would have little-to-no legal recourse.
  14. Exalted (the new VIP server). It seems the devs will be neglecting the "free" servers.

Although if you ever intend to play as a Premium then you should absolutely not do this, obviously.

Completely ignoring the fact that Elder Amy looks (and sounds) nothing like Eyepatch Woman, sure. Also the fact that Elder Amy never existed, but that's always a wibbly-wobbly sort of thing.
  17. The truly bizarre part of the change is that they did this while adding an Icon to Atlas.

But I honestly don't think it's a "waste of money" mostly because I doubt it really cost that much to make the change. That's kind of blowing things out of proportion.
  18. 36.

I don't see how he "condemned" her to anything, it's not like he did it on purpose.

And he was right to do what he did. There was no way the two Amys could coexist. If he had just accepted Old Amy's refusal to change things then that would have been condemning Young Amy to 36 years of solitude.
  19. Took me some digging around, I actually found that post linked in the Feedback thread for Time Manipulation.

Facilitating is one thing, encouraging is quite another. Discounted transfers are fine, but the new Exalted-only dev-hosted events, several of which are Incarnate-level and thus would require a transferred character on I21's launch, makes it worse. Clearly the devs will be paying less attention to the other servers going forward. Leave those servers to the freebies and the plebes, the elites on Exalted are the only ones that matter.

I certainly think it's telling that J_D, one of Pinnacle's mainstays, is leaving. This is the sort of thing I was worried about as soon as I heard about I21/Freedom (god, why couldn't they just pick a name that didn't match a server name? idiots).
