Hello there! For nearly a year now I've been keeping and updating a City of Heroes Historic Calendar (which can be found here: coloden.com/city).

In color-coding different events, I tried to pick color combinations that would be easy to identify for both those with and without color vision.

The Key for the colors is at the top of the PDF in the middle. Please let me know if any of the items in the Key look similar to each other, or if when searching for those items within the calendar itself you're unable to definitively identify them.

I may have to resort to patterned backgrounds, which would be fine.

Any help you can provide is much appreciated, thanks!

Realize that there are two or three different kinds of color blindness, so coming up with a single color scheme that fits all may be a problem. Other techniques such as icons or letting users customize the colors may help.

Yep, I guess I knew that already but had kinda forgotten, though the color blindness simulator I linked to reminded me.

So far the colors I've picked seem to be different enough that they're distinguishable for all of the color blindness types except pure monochrome - which at that point there's very little likely I can do.

Still, if anyone is having issues I can add patterns to distinguish between close colors. Which I may do in any case.

I'm red-green colorblind and it looks fine to me.

Mild red/green here. No problems. It's partly because you use two colors, both for the background and the text. That's good practice. Plus the greens you use are biased towards blue, which a red/green like me really likes. If there's one thing I'd change, I'd make the text on the red Corporate Info into a bright color as it blends a little with the background red. Light pink or white would do fine.

But overall, you're doing good from my point of view. Much better than most people who use color coding. It looks like you actually cared about colorblindness, which is nice to see.

Not related to the color, but in February 2005, they had a buddy code give-away that new players could use instead of a retail purchase of CoH to start an account (15 days free, could continue to subscribe without a retail box).

I have to confess, I was perversely hoping this was a costume-help thread.
