    A question...

Quick, someone upload a logical paradox!
  2. Well sure, but you're using your forum time when you're tabbed out, not your game time.

oh crap i just got dizzy from that sentence
  3. I would prefer putting the existing ones in Ouro instead of playing Mayhem/Safeguard Roulette, but this would be an acceptable middle-ground solution if putting them in Ouro is somehow a technical hurdle.
  4. Technically anyone browsing the forum isn't in-game, so if anything you wasted people's forum time.
  5. Honestly, it just needs a whole new interface, cramming it into the e-mail interface was a mistake. It doesn't quite fit once you start accumulating rewards (or if you already have a bunch), and it makes it look like you always have e-mail, even if you don't.

Wasn't the second-to-last episode of the season, and set up the new Daleks for their appearance in the season finale.

You know, it occurs to me that when I saw the trailer for The Lodger, I originally assumed it would be a Cyberman episode when I saw people being lured into the timeship-apartment only to be result in a buzzsaw-like sound and screaming...very much like the Cyberman transformation process we saw in Age of Steel. With Craig returning next episode, could the Cybermen have been the ones behind the timeship?
  7. Confirmed. The power names can be called on Live with []-notation. There's a thread somewhere around with screenshots of the real numbers.

I also doubt the mods would have worked so hard to shut down any threads discussing it if it were fake.

I'm going to echo everyone else and say that I don't see how Cybermen could ever be a "filler" episode. Also, for what it's worth, last week's episode looked like a filler episode too, and while it did mostly stand alone, it did bring us some new developments.

That's not how I interpret it. To me, an Account Unlock item (Enhancement Boosters, for instance) should be one whose counter is global and may be decremented by any character on the account, while a Character Unlock item (respecs/costume tokens that were formerly granted by the Veteran Rewards system, Nemesis Staff, etc.) should have a counter for each character which may only be decremented by that character. The game currently works in the opposite manner, which I believe is what you described but is so counter-intuitive to me that I can't really process it.

I freely admit that I may be the only person whose brain is screwed-up enough to interpret it like this.
  10. I find it odd that you would choose to make this post on the 19th of September when the 5th of November isn't really that far off.

Arcs like Ubelmann, which was mentioned above, are great in concept, but less so in execution, just because they have to be written in a way that one of the people involved can be one of around five completely unique individuals. Streamlining the contact system and adding in a little more personal flavor would be nice. Even when arcs are given out by unique contacts, some of them are just...written boring. Maxwell Christopher is a notable exception, but Tina and Unai, for example, just sorta read like briefings, not like characters.
This has been my biggest gripe with blueside since, well, blueside became distinct from the game as a whole (I6/CoV). Redside contacts are so varied and distinct, while most blueside contacts are indistinguishable from civilians. The fact that their mission text reads as briefings rather than conversations, as you said, doesn't help matters. Thankfully the newer contacts we're getting seem to have been made in the costume creator (with perhaps a few unique additions) and they get actual personalities. Even if their arcs suck, at least it feels like you're interacting with something rather than just reading it from a text adventure's output screen.

Finally, to note that even more recent stuff is not immune to having problems, Roy Cooling really did not work well. Good in concept, but the big "twist" really wasn't handled well, not to mention the general disregard for the lore behind the various villain groups involved. What's worse is that they only need a minor change in story (basically, altering a single one of the groups), and the arc would make almost perfect sense.
OH GOD YES THANK YOU. The first time I ran Cooling's arc, I thought the last mission with the Rogue PPD (second-to-last mission total) was the last of the arc, and I was hoping that was so because I was just so freaking sick of the arc. That said, I did kind of like the finale against Castillo, even if he is a cheating jerk (but dropping an EB Zeus Titan on the player after fighting an AV-downgraded-EB, or even worse, an AV, is just mean).
  12. You're going to find a focus on Incarnates on any of the servers because that is The New Shiny (well, we've had it for nearly a year, but it's relatively new and still ongoing), but lots of people have low-level alts running around, especially now with new powersets and new low-level content.

If you intend to mostly solo then server population isn't going to necessarily be a big issue for you; it sounds like chatting with the community is your main interest, and I believe most or all of the servers have their populations concentrated in their global channels (note that while these channels may be server-themed, you can join and chat in them regardless of which server you play on). On Pinnacle server (my home), for instance, the two big global channels are PinnBadges (originally just for badge-hunting, now for forming teams or even just random chatter -- not for the faint of heart btw) and Cozmic's Playground (basically the same as PinnBadges minus most of the chatter). You can find global channels by right-clicking inside your chat window and selecting, I forget exactly what it's called but something like "Find Channels". Or if you already know the name of the channel you want, select Join Channel. You may also wish to check out the server subforums to see what each one has going on. Usually a server's subforum will have posts from people planning events like costume contests, or running Task Forces or other content. (Pinnacle subforum, as I used for an example before, is pretty dead, but that shouldn't necessarily be used as a sole measure of server activity.)

Another point: don't judge server population based on Broadcast chatter. The level of Broadcast chatter in Atlas may give you a good idea of relative server population (i.e., Freedom and Virtue have a lot of Atlas Broadcast chatter, other servers may have little or none), it's not a firm indicator of how many people happen to be on the server. The game is mostly instanced (although the new low-level stuff shies away from that a bit), and mission maps have their own separate Broadcast channel. Plus, there are a lot of city zones for heroes to be spread across (villains have fewer zones so there's a little more density). That said, you are correct in your observation that the EU servers are among the least populated, although I'm sure they each have their own close-knit communities that would be more than welcoming to a newcomer.

On a final note, and I may be wrong about this, but I believe the server load indicators on the server select screen are currently buggy, so you may not want to rely on those either, at least until it gets patched.

    But that doesn't track because
    1) Who kills the Doctor? Also River? She's in jail for killing one man
    2) River's programming was to kill the Doctor and that was completed (but then, she evidently tries again and "succeeds" but we know obviously not permanently)
and 3) Arthur Darvill is signed for another season (airing in 2013 )

When I saw Rory storm onto the Cybership in A Good Man Goes To War it hit me that the "good man" might possibly be him, but the information we've gotten since then doesn't quite seem to fit.
  14. I still find the naming scheme counter-intuitive. Character Unlocks, to me, suggests that they are limited to that character, while Account Unlocks may be used by any character, but the opposite is true. I'm glad I figured this out before I actually used any of my Character Unlocks (not that any of them are especially worth using...).

Most of the costumes would be gunslinger themed except for one costume piece that would be more "Dr Who" iconic- think black lawman's suit with sneakers, wild west gunman with a scarf, etc.
Did he wear a Stetson? 'Cuz Stetsons are cool.
  16. /signed with the stipulation that it actually works consistently unlike the "Last Mob/Glowie" feature.
  17. But we already have the Blaster archetype.

Strictly speaking the Invention System and the Incarnate System have nothing to do with one another, bar the similarity in collecting salvage and using it to craft stuff. They use similar mechanics, but are completely independent of one another.

I will point out that Incarnate Slots don't exemp down below 45, while set bonuses will under the right conditions. (This may not matter to you at all if you never exemp down, but remember that you'll probably have to do that a fair amount if you want to run the Weekly Strike Targets with any regularity.) Also, you don't get set bonuses when you frankenslot (well, you might, but that's incidental and not something you pursue when frankenslotting). If you're frankenslotting, you'll probably only be slotting one or two pieces from each set; if it's two pieces, you'll get that first set bonus, but otherwise if it's all single IOs you don't get any set bonuses. In terms of being goals, set bonuses and frankenslotting are more or less mutually exclusive, at least on a per-power basis.

I will also point out that, depending on the character, set bonuses can be very desirable. Achieving Perma-powers (like Domination, Phantom Army, Dull Pain) and getting up to or at the defense cap on non-melee characters. There's also no reason you can't work toward an IO build and work on Incarnate slots. (Personally I think the former is much less of a tedious grind.)
  19. Entry was lowered to 14. If Pilgrim is still a 25+ contact then that needs to be fixed, it makes no sense to enter Ouroboros at 14 but not have any idea what the hell it is for 11 levels.

Clearly I have the power to will things into reality retroactively.

You'd better believe I'm gonna use this power for evil.
