  1. /Dark slotted with Diamagnetic Interface?
    • -Res from Tar Patch
    • -ToHit from Diamagnetic, Twilight Grasp, Darkest Night, Fearsome Stare, Dark Servant if the dope manages to stay alive for long enough
    I had a whole thing here about the -Regen from Diamagnetic, Twilight Grasp and Howling Twilight (and the Assault Bot blasts for Bots MMs since that's what I've got with Dark Miasma) but then saw Billy's post about it being worthless. Even still, the Protector Bots force fields would provide at least the MM and other bots with +Def, if nobody else.

    /Time would also be a good powerset to have, since it provides +Def, +Rech (both probably perma by that point I'd think), -Res and -ToHit.

    Short version:
    Green Lantern - sturdy only because of energy fields, always saw him as FF/Energy Defender
    Human Torch is only agile because he can fly
    Doctor Doom almost defies archetype - fits Blaster, Mastermind, even Defender/Corruptor
    Punisher, Domino, Bishop, Green Arrow - we already have a power Blasters can take for characters like these, it's called [Tough] from the Fighting pool (also [Weave])

    But I still kind of like the idea for another Blaster inherent. Maybe it could work like the scaling resistance that Super Reflexes gets.

    I was thinking about this recently. I wonder if it would be possible to have a contact (or a separate crystal, whatever) in Ouro that would just exemplar you down to the specified level. Then just have the radio/paper to work off combat level versus experience level. Then you can just go back to Steel Canyon/Cap au Diable, run the necessary number of repeatable missions, and get your lower-level Safeguard/Mayhem.

    I'm sure there's probably some greater reason why this wouldn't work and I'm definitely not suggesting "just code it up, it's easy!", but I really do wonder why it's not that easy.

    Some of them are ostracized, Spider-Man being the biggest example. Most of the others aren't ostracized because the general public knows they're not mutants but rather got their powers in some sort of accident. (Which is part of why the public fears Spider-Man, because most people think he is a mutant. That, and JJJ's decades-long smear campaign.) That's the difference. The point of X-Men is that h0m0 (seriously, forum software??) sapiens feels threatened by the rise of h0m0 superior, not just because they're different.

    And on the flip side, you have the Civil war storyline, where the entire point was a movement that desired the registration of not just mutants but all super-powered beings, which is as logical an extension of anti-mutant paranoia as you're gonna get.
  6. I like the chance for hold on iTrials because, especially when you haven't gotten all 3 level shifts yet, minions may very well survive the initial salvo, but those that do will probably be held. Also, the hold uses the graphics for Tesla Cage, which fits my Elec^3 Blaster perfectly.

  8. Because they're no longer in German/French. People who speak those languages may still congregate on those servers, but all game text is English.

    The truth about Calvin Scott was revealed a couple issues ago in the Underground Trial. From the writer's perspective, it happens before the events in First Ward. But from your character's perspective, it hasn't happened yet.

    TL;DR sloppy writing and a somewhat ill-conceived notion of enforcing a chronological storyline on a game where each character experiences the story separately

    This. My Bots/Dark had been shelved until I respecced him quite recently, then ran him through Dark Astoria and the other mission arc badge content he was missing. Didn't get that bug once.

    Of course, now that I've said that, it'll hit me nonstop from here on out. I still have days where I expect that infernal chat buffer bug to strike from nowhere.

    Positron and War Witch, yeah. I'm not saying it's a brand new crowd, but the game is definitely not moving forward with the same vision that it had when, say, I first joined the game in Issue 4/5. If it were, I can't imagine I would have stayed with it for so long. The game was honestly a little dull before Issue 6/7/8 came along (never mind City of Villains), so in that respect it has clearly improved substantially. The fact is that we've gotten a lot of stuff that we've asked for over the years (power customization, player-created content such as it is, multitudes of power sets, the ability to redo previously-played content, tons of costume sets....).

    You really can't blame them too much for new stuff breaking old stuff. I know it sounds like a pass but it's really true. The legacy game code is a tangled spaghetti mess of undocumented code produced mostly by people who moved on years ago, it's gonna be near impossible to introduce new code into that without creating all sorts of weird errors (which is going to happen under the best conditions anyway).

    There are certainly criticisms that can be made though regarding the dev team's propensity for pushing patches/Issues to Live despite the fact that there are known game-breaking bugs present (the philosophy of it being better to push out a product that doesn't work right for some people and fix it later, versus delaying it for everybody). But it's still not black and white, and you'll be a lot happier once you realize that.

    Just to name a few of the big names. Probably also a bunch of these folks went with Cryptic to "the competition".

    You seem to be very unhappy with the game lately. Perhaps it's time for you to take a break instead of sniping at other forumites and actively driving new players away from the game.

    Yeah, good luck with that. The game still has typos/spelling errors outstanding after 8 years.
