    issue 16 info

Not only does the newly updated Character Creator allow players to jump directly between Archetype, Powersets, Costumes and Character ID in any order without losing progress

    [/ QUOTE ]
    YESSSSSSSSSS

I've always hated having to jump all the way back to change something (hopefully this also includes Origin; I'm the type of person who WILL reroll if my character concept changes after I picked Origin and I forgot to go back to change it).
  2. I'm just wondering how that would even be workable. You seem to want to define a Team by the leader and how many people are in it. But both of those things can change. A team is a fluid object that can change completely over a period of time. You could start a team with members A B and C, over time gain members D E and F, then lose members A B and C. Is the current state of the team the same as the original state of the team when A first formed it? How do you organize these objects for searching? How do you organize them at all?

I'm sorry but this doesn't make any sense to me at all.
  3. CoH and CoV are linked. You could buy the original boxed edition of CoH and still get CoV, once the updater downloaded all the game updates that have come out since then (which would take forever).

Your best bet is the Architect Edition, it's the most recent boxed build available and thus will require the least amount of time to update. You'll miss out on the GvE goodies but those are available as a separate code that can be applied to your account if you absolutely must have them.

    chat bug

They're leaving it broken just to annoy you.

    Seriously though, Castle sez:

I hate this bug. It's a minor issue ultimately since it isn't crashing servers or corrupting data, but it is highly visible, distracting and annoying.

What's broken and why is it taking so long to fix? The key problem here is way back when, someone decided it would be a good idea to have three separate keyboard input interpreters and any changes done have to play "house of cards" game with the three. The current set of bugs began appearing a while back when we started making changes to implement the mission editor, which morphed into the Mission Architect.

I've no doubt that it will be fixed at some point; I just wanted to basically point out that, yes, we're aware of it and yes, we are trying to fix it. It's just an enormously more complicated task that it "should" be.

  5. You can restrict this and that all you want, but ultimately the only way you're going to stop farming is by level restricting the AE buildings in the various zones. Otherwise farmers will just keep coming up with new inventive farms, until mobs have been restricted so much that you can't do anything with them.

It's time for the devs to stop being reactive and start being proactive about this.
  6. Definitely not dead. Just got a huge chunk of garbage at the start of a message.
  7. I can confirm that this has not been fixed.
  8. Yes, not having an internet connection is a pretty lame excuse.
  9. I did the Strike Force on Heroic on my Bots/Dark yesterday. Died on every hero group at least once, had to get a Vanguard Heavy multiple times (since I kept dying). The trick of it seems to be to allow all 3 heroes in a group to spawn, then get them to lose their target of you. Every time I died, the three heroes separated, and when I came back from the hospital I was able to take each one down separately with relative ease.
  10. Sorry about my disappearing act, my internet went kerplooey and I didn't get it back until this morning. Time Warner really sucks.

I wasn't sure what was happening at first though. First our leader DCed, so we had to wait for her to return. Then another teammate reported seeing Mod 08 in some of their global channels. I was about to ask if he was saying anything when I got mapserv'd.
  11. I'd like to see heroside revamped. Right now the content is sluggish and dull. Most contacts are virtually indistinguishable from one another, many have overlapping content, they send you on errands to multiple far away zones (why would a person in one city be concerned with activity in another city?), they won't trust you with their cell phone number until you've completed an entire story arc for them (while villain contacts are trustworthy to the point of naivete). Many zones were dead even before AE came into the picture (Boomtown anybody? Town cry: "no thanks"). Let's see some more revamps along the lines of Faultline -- start rebuilding Boomtown, ghostbusting zone event in Dark Astoria a la Steel Canyon fires. Streamline those pesky TFs that nobody does anymore because they're tedious (*coughPositroncough*). Make an issue of all these changes, call it Renewal.
  12. At present the only way to check how much time remaining you have on a temp power is to open up the Powers tab, find the power, and check its info box from there. If you check the info box from the status icon bar, that information is not available.

Better: Add tooltip timers to those status icons.

    Badge Idea

I have enough alts to get Alt-aholic and I still think this is an awful idea.

Actually, you know what the easiest solution is?

    Start villainside.

...Wha? Redside has AE too. And it's even harder to find a team there because fewer people play redside to begin with.
  15. The problem isn't really that the rewards in AE are too great. The problem is that the system is ridiculously easy to exploit. That's the operative word here -- exploit. I agree people should be left to play the game the way they want to play it, but you have to draw the line somewhere, and the line I draw is somewhere before "having one level 50 wipe out a map of enemies who don't fight back while 7 other lowbies soak up the phat XP".

Like it or not, this IS a multiplayer community game, but the community aspect is going to be completely demolished for players who actually want to play their characters normally, if most of the playerbase is powerleveling their way to 50.

Double XP with Hami Farms in the AE will be the sickest thing ever, will make the Winter Lords of old seem like really slow XP

    [/ QUOTE ]
I doubt those will last to the end of the month.
  18. 1. Remove auto-SK. Not a perfect solution but it'll lower AE farms to the efficiency of any other farm in the game.

1.5. Enforce level limits on arcs, as with Task Forces. I'm on the fence about this since it's rather harsh, but it would basically end farming as we know it.

    2. Flag certain enemies (Comm Officers, Cimeroran Surgeons, Mitos, etc) to appear only one per group, the way it works in the rest of the game. No point in farming a low-yield crop. I still can't figure out why it doesn't work this way in MA arcs, it must be non-trivial to code for some reason.

    3. Shuffling the AE buildings themselves around isn't really going to fix anything without other changes. All it's going to do is revitalize the Taxi SGs from before the days of Safeguard/Mayhem travel powers. 50s will ferry lowbies from Atlas to the AE building in Peregrine if they have to.

I like being right where I am. Being forced to leave just to get all the new stuff would be horrible. The good thing about MMOs is you don't need sequels, you can just build on the origional indefinitely.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Eventually, you end up with an archaic game engine, which can't necessarily support the changes you want to make to it.
  20. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is how the game originally worked back in Alpha or earlier, before they scrapped (if you'll pardon the pun) it for the Archetype system.
  21. No, don't pin this on Marvel. Yes they started the lawsuit that resulted in all this, but the truly guilty party here is whichever dev came up with this ridiculous banlist of words. Considering you can use most of these words to create character names, I doubt this is a result of Marvel getting even more protective.

I just wish the devs would address this. Not even change it, just someone explain why this list needs to be so over-exhaustive. As far as I'm concerned, this is a bug.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Again, I agree that it's been around for far too long and is indeed very much annoying. I'm just not sure it's annoying enough to be "fed up with it." I would certainly very much like to see it fixed, and find it more than a little silly it's been left in this long, but I can't see myself getting angry when it happens. Maybe I'm just lucky to avoid facing it that often, I don't know.
