Even though I've had all four on my shelf for a few months now. I think what struck me most about it was an overwhelming sense of melancholy. It felt like she was, well, kinda running out the clock on life. It was definitely different, something I don't think I've experienced in a comic before.
Oh, yes, and the puns. Oh, the puns. I just wish I had that kind of creativity that could come up with stuff like Mantelope (or heck, any creativity at all).
And there was a nice Troy cameo in there as well, along with the nod to the original publishing entity of TG.
I do hope they continue TG as I'd like to see where it goes.
Edit - The only reason I didn't read it earlier is because I've been...fairly scatterbrained this year. Combine that with general malaise and lethargy does not equate to getting stuff done in a reasonable/reliable manner. It's just been a horrible, horrible summer as well. -
I thought Panthro was doing a dime for selling junk bonds?

Liked the part up on the mountain. Good to finally see some more Venture Brothers. Loved Doc's reaction at the end when he heard Dermott's last name.
-
Eureka - Very sneaky Eureka. Thought that it was going to be a clip show when they pulled out the headset. It was, but not in the way I was thinking. And nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!
W13 - I'm betting what happened to Jinx is a very sneaky plan on Ms. Waller's part. Love it when they pull out random artifacts. I'm wondering if Artie's bag is not an artifact in and of itself, namely, it has something when it is truly needed. And I called Pete's line right at the end, right before he said it.
Alphas - Still waiting on it to air/finish. -
Quote:Gravity buggers off for a smoke and a quick pint and look what you do. Make him look foolish! But he'll have his revenge. One day, you'll be walking along and BAM! Leaf through the noggin!First walking onto the Bridge and looking out at the horizon and seeing that it was vertical but gravity felt like I was standing normally. We rolled down the side of a wave so fast it took gravity a couple seconds to catch up.

I have this picture in my head of a tornado wearing a ninja mask and booties whilst sneaking up beyond you. It's stage whispering, "Be vewwy vewwy quiet, I'm huntin' MrHassenpheffers!"

Quote:Well...you probably don't want to know what'll happen if/when Yellowstone goes...Volcanoes scare the piss out of me. Especially super volcanoes.
Reading this, just kind of ruined me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toba_catastrophe_theory -
Quote:Pretty much everywhere on the planet has some form of natural disaster that can happen. It's the ones that are easily recognizable that bother me (aforementioned flooding)./this
especially about fires.
But I don't limit my zero sympathy to the rich flood victims. I spread it equally amongst most of the natural disasters that occur regionally. They know the damn things are going to happen sooner or later and they still chose to live there. Screw'em, they deserve it.
Quote:Hurricanes.. I have been through a few, so they don't really scare me anymore either. The last one that followed the predicted path of Irene, though, left me without power for 8 days. No internet or television for EIGHT DAYS!?!?! Now THAT scares the bajeebies outta me! Especially with the launch of Freedom possibly being right around the corner.
That was probably the closest potential for dying from a natural disaster that I've come. -
None of the above.
Getting caught in a fire terrifies me.
Floods can be mitigated/eliminated by not living in a sub-1000 year floodplain or making sure to have flood insurance (zero sympathy for people who build million dollar houses next to rivers and lakes and act surprised when they get flooded out). Tornadoes...eh. Lived with 'em all my life. I'd like to experience an earthquake just once to see what its like. Tropical storm is not really anything more than a wet tornado.
For those thinking earthquakes are limited to areas like New Zealand and California. -
That is a very...unappetizing...color. But I do love Ecto-Cooler, along with the Crystal Pepsi (curse you for reminding me!
). There has to be a way to get it to that nice, bright, fluorescent green color...
Also, there's Ghostbusters Ectoplasm Energy Drinks out there. I've got a can of it, but haven't tasted it to find out what it's like. -
Quote:I don't mind that there's other Lantern corps. It only makes sense since the Greens are based off of willpower, it stands to reason that other emotions/character traits would be able to power stuff. Fear, Lust/Love, Greed, Rage, Compassion, Presence of All and Absence of All, all are very powerful emotions in their own right.Slight derail but there's been at least some Blackest Night talk so far...
Am I the only one who likes the multiple Lantern corps now? Even when I was younger I always assumed there were other Corps, why else would the Green Lanterns have to put "Green" in there at all? If they were the one and only Corps and there could be no other they would simply be the "Lanterns".
Sure not all of Blackest Night was great but I've always wanted there to be a Blue Lantern and now they just need to work on making Kyle a Blue Lantern and all will be well. -
Quote:You want to complain? Complain to those who make the laws in your land. The reason why they don't run it in every country is for the simple fact that laws differ and some make it extremely not-worth-it to bother going through mounds of red-tape. Some countries don't allow contests that don't have a skill-factor involved. Some require the contest-runner to file all sorts of tax paperwork. Some places require registration fees, like Rhode Island which is why it's excluded from a lot of contests. In case you guys didn;t understand from my Twitter response and Facebook post, NOT HAPPY as an EU player that we're excluded. If you can't treat everyone equally THEN YOU SHOULDN'T RUN ANY COMPETITIONS AT ALL.
Having someone on-staff who knows the minutiae of contest laws in every country is really not cost-effective. Nor is hiring lawyers to research it. -
There's always IDW and Dark Horse.
For me, I could probably spend the rest of my life collecting the back issues of the various DC lines (barring stuff like Action Comics #1, Detective Comics #27, etc., namely the ultra rare-expensive stuff) and be happy. I don't want DC to fold up shop and take down their shingle, but I can't really see buying any of the new stuff. Maybe in 20 years, if they're still around I can start up again, but I've gotten a little too attached to the characters as-is and can't suffer through the growing pains of them going through yet another reboot. -
Quote:The time for changes of any decent magnitude is Closed Beta at the latest. Once it hits Open, IMO, there will be no major changes barring something extreme happening that wasn't caught in Closed. Open is not really the point of offering feedback that is going to be meaningfully acted upon. It's the point of finding gamebreaking bugs that slipped past in Closed.Pretty much what Dark One said. My point was that from what I've seen, the "it's beta, it can change" line has been bandied about a bit as some sort of counter-argument to those dissatisfied with the current set-up, and it may have been reasonable thing to say on day one of open beta to the influx of folks going WTF, but the further we go without any updates on the situation, the less relevant it becomes.

Quote:Be careful though. If you do it wrong, the second account becomes attached to your master NCSoft account (two accounts that can be accessed with your master account). Meaning that your friend would need your master login infos to change anything.Welp, I have a fairly risk free way of finding out! If I fail, I'll have a new Alt-account for SG inviting. And if I succeed, I'll have a buddy in game a month or two early!
I've been contemplating a secondary account for some time, and this is a perfect opportunity to follow through on that. I think I can construe this as win/win/win because I'll be able to tell YOU all wether or not my mad attempts worked! -
Quote:Comics aren't that bad for bang-for-the-buck. Movies in theaters have that same issue. Once you factor in a drink and maybe some popcorn, you are approaching, if not outright over, the cost factor for a month of an MMO. And that's if you go by yourself. A matinee with just a drink can squeak by, but a night showing will be over. One thing that is the same today as it was when Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created Spiderman, Fantastic Four and the X-men. A new comic is going to give you 20 minutes or so of fresh never seen before entertainment. In 2011 the price of a comic can get me 8 hours of fresh entertainment from Redbox. For the cost of 4 comics I can subscribe to MMO for a month. Comics don't offer a whole lot of "new" bang for a buck.
Two hours of entertainment vs a month's sub. It's not really difficult math there. Comparatively, an MMO will beat out most things in terms of return on investment for entertainment purposes. -
Ok, I can buy the methane/ethane fog thing to an extent. I can't however, buy methane snowflakes in the atmosphere or building up to any significant amount on the ground. Why? Ambient temperature. Now, I may be off here, but to have solid methane, you'd need either LOW temperature or high pressure. Like Titan low temps. Otherwise, that stuff'd sublimate off pretty quickly. One could use the example of dry ice, but that stuff takes a series of low temps combined with pressures to make. It's not stable at room temps.
As to that appraiser guy, I'm wondering if that statement he made was just another test.
W13 - Pavlov's Bell. Classic. Also, they finally caught that scarab bugger. Was wondering if Artie was going to start having a hankering for chasing cats and/or snausages... And his statement was fairly spot-on considering the relationship between cats/dogs/humans.
Gary's mom is way overprotective. Even considering that he has special needs. She's not going to be around forever and best to help him get to the point where he can take care of himself, to a point. And ya, they really are setting them up for going rogue and/or breaking into Binghamton to free people. Not being very subtle with the whole thing, especially with DoD guy. -

Quote:The Badlands are quite neat. Same goes for the Black Hills. Well worth the time/energy/money to come up and see sometime. Just don't come during August, since that's the time of the motorcycle rally and it gets really crowded (unless you're into motorcycles that is).<<< Deep South boy. (hmm, there's a hero name there...) only been to the Dakotas once, and that was North, up by Fargo & Grand Forks. Never saw the Badlands, sadly.
Quote:Though not shadows, this made me think of The Philadelphia Experiment. Now there's a story begging for an artifact to be found. -
Quote:Don't think so. I've bought Perk packs before and I don't recall them giving you the full code prior to the application. Once it's been applied, an email is sent (or at least I've gotten them) with the full code. But by then it's too late since the code itself is only useful for account verifications and whatnot. Here's what might count as an odd question:
Can I purchase this in the NCsoft store, write down the code, and give that code to a friend for him to apply to HIS (now lapsed) trial account, without having to do any shady "account information sharing"?
I'd really like to buy this as a gift, but don't have a convenient way to give him 2 dollars and tell him "Spend this on COH :P" because he's half-across the continent from me.
What you could do is make a new Master account, buy the game, then give him the login info and necessary info to change stuff to his likings. If his trial account has lapsed, he might not remember the stuff to get past NCSoft's new account verification measures (if that applied to trials). Or does that fall afoul of anything? Not sure so take with a grain of salt. -
Quote:"My goo! My precious goo!"This one might be a little difficult to explain. After all... we don't even know how most of the artifacts themselves are able to do what they do... So how could one explain a universal anti-magical item goo? Personally... I'd say it comes from an anti-artifact artifact... which was developed by the regents. This could also give one (official) reason why everyone has to take orders from them. "They've the goo"
