  1. So.. in this 'normal' world, helping others is abnormal?
So this average Joe, this person who has made a commitment to himself and the citizens of Seattle to not let crime go unpunished when he sees it, to help those in need, to do the right thing in this so wrong world, is not seen for what he is? He is a Hero.
If he get's arrested for helping others in need, a bunch of people should get arrested for the same crime.

    *Steps up*

I saw a fight break out in front of where i lived. A person i knew was on the floor, two people i didn't know were beating him. One had a baseball bat, the other was hitting him with the blunt side of an axe.
My instinct kicked in, walked up to them and demanded they'd stop.
The guy with the bat came to me, pushed me, i pushed back. He took a swing for my left knee, hit it just a few inches above it. He looked surprised i didn't go down, i told him "I don't feel pain." He took a swing against the left side of my torso, i flexed my muscles and took the hit. Again he looks at me with a surprised look, "I told ya" i said.
He swings again, this time, aiming for my head. I raise my left arm to counter the attack. Motionless i stand in front him while his baffled look keeps growing. I glance over, and see that the person is back on his feet. I look back at the person in front of me, just in time to see the bat in a swinging motion heading to the right side of my head. Violently i swing my right arm against the incoming bat, breaking it. "I told ya, i don't feel pain. Now get lost!" He runs to his buddy, who is now talking to the person they both were beating up. I grab the piece that was broken off, and walk to the crowd that was gathered outside. They inform me that the cops have been called. I look over my shoulder, and see my attacker on a bike, with the broken bat, and the axe. In my mind i promise myself that i'll kick him off the bike if he makes a break for it with evidence. 15 yards away from me, he jumps off the bike, and walks toward me. I step away from the crowd, don't want them to get involved, this is about me. He threatens me, claiming he'll kill me. I do what i did prior, just look in his eyes, look for the next move he'll make to counter. I see his eyes shift, glancing across the street at something. I take my chance, lean forward, and take the weapon closest to me out of his hands. This rattles him, baffled by my brazen action, he stands motionless. I raise my arms, raise the bat "I'm right here, NOW WHAT!?" He retreats.
    The guy was 6'4" about 125lbs, i was 6'1" 145lbs, but i won a fight, without throwing a punch.

But wait.. according to some people here, i should be arrested for destruction of property, i did break the bat. Oh, and theft, since i did steal the rest of the bat, right out of his hand.
So yeah, this is a confession, see if the cops will arrest me.
  2. I received my September token a few days ago, even tho after days of arguing with CS that the Sept was awarded in a lump-sum. I just pointed out that if that were the case, i'm missing two tokens.

Also, checking my paid time i came up with a different time.
Apparently they don't count the time giving with box purchases as time paid anymore, so i suggest you all look at your own paid time to find out if it is correct. Mine said 1 year, 8 months, i bought 5 boxes, making 23 months, plus i should have gotten my 2 year badge this month too. 1, year 8 months is 20 months, yet i received my 21 month vet badge in July. Still waiting on their explanation regarding this.

The devs told us back in July that the Paragon Points would be awarded on our accounts billing date.
My billing date is the 8th.. it's the 8th of Oct, no Token, no Points.. explain that please?
  4. I was on Gaurdian during the Praetorian Invasion.
It was great having a Admin with such great humor and love for the game and it's players.

People complain when the team doesn't interact with it's player base, and they complain when they do.

If you notice that an Admin is talking in Admin chat, and you notice it's just to interact with the rest on the server, treat it like a normal post.
    When it's important, you'll notice.

Be happy, not many MMo's have such a great team of people who want to interact with the players.

Zwill.. Thanx again for the fun, hope to see u in the arena!
I bet you'll have trouble versus my Crab Nephila

and i LMAO when i saw the snapshot of the MT.. that was funny!
  5. I actually heard from someone that there was a 'Green Lantern' SG on a server, and DC ok'd it? Anyone know if this is true?
  6. Great read.

Most of this i figured out on my own after several hours of research, if i knew this was here.. man.. talk about wasted hours. :P

Anyways.. thnx for the guide, now i have something to look at, and have several other views

I already said that the new Reward System has nothing to do with being a 'Veteran'.

In reading subsequent posts, it's become clear that you are, in fact, annoyed with any purchased perk -- which is certainly your right, and even understandable to a degree given that games are generally based on parity -- but it kinda ends the conversation before it starts.
I never said, or stated that i was annoyed with all purchased perks, i don't know how u can claim that as a fact. I was always advocating an in-game store to provide a second and much needed source of income for the game, i just don't like certain aspects of their development of said store.

And to reply to the person that said that people who bought multiple boxes of the game have been rewarded with those perks and game time...
People who buy points can get more items from the store, meaning they can enjoy more content than people who can't spend money on Points to get that content. That's also being rewarded for your purchase, isn't it?
So you are contradicting yourself. I'll put it in a simple context:

-Regarding the 1 Token for any amount of game boxes bought:
People who bought only one box should not get less Reward Tokens than people who bought more boxes and spend more money on the game.
-Regarding money spend on Paragon Points:
People who spend more money buying points, should get more Reward Tokens than people who can't or won't.

It's not just you who's contradicting yourself, the Dev's are included in this view.

    Crabbery

On the escape part in BAF, we Crabs are the only ones not affected by the 'confuse' that the Lt's dish out. And i heard from several people that if they are near me while i am on door duty, they don't get confused.

    Oh, and Rommy in ITF?
My Crab ad WP/SS Tank don't get stunned.
  9. Yeah, my Crab is deff the most expensive toon i have. Main build is Team orientated and is worth about 25Bill with it's 4 Purple and 4 PvP sets.
I have no issues running anything, and even without pets i can solo the north door in BAF with relative ease. I have 14 T4 Incarnate powers, meaning i can switch up to better assist the team. Never heard "No, you can not join this Mo run. " :::

Also working on a Pet and Bane build, figuring this toon's 3 Build will be a combined 60-80Bill.

Ask on the Guardian Server about Nephila.

Everyone has their own opinion, you have your opinion, i have mine. I see it from both views, i hope you could see it too.

In my opinion, it unfair to people who have been waiting years for a certain veteran reward power, people who are still waiting on a certain veteran reward power, and don't have the cash to throw at the game like others do.

I understand that when people throw money at the game they should be rewarded, but instead of giving everything up front, give in moderation.
If you buy a year worth's of game time, give them 2 tokens a month. I'm ok with that. If you pay per month, and drop a $100 on the market to get Paragon Points, give them 2 tokens per month till the 'extra' tokens are all given. I'm ok with that too.

But to give all upfront, and basically reach VIP T9 in one day, is a slap in the face for people who have been playing years, and have been, or are still, patiently waiting, like everyone else, to get their veteran rewards.

Going by the NEW terminology, it's for every 12 months (total, not concurrent) of VIP status. VIP status is gained by paying your subscription fee, using a time card, or using the free month from a box purchase.
Meaning they should rename the yearly awarded badge to 1 year VIP, 2 Year VIp and so forth. As i stated before. If someone plays for two years, but half the time he's premium, he's still a 2 year Veteran of the game.

    Quote:
The badges should NOT be awarding up-front, so no, you should NOT be seeing people who were gone for 5 years with all 7 yearly badges. As Obitus said, if that is happening, then it's a bug.

Are you by any chance confusing the yearly badges (1 Year Veteran, 2 Year Veteran, ... , 7 Year Veteran) with the ANNIVERSARY badges (Celebrant, Reveler, Merrymaker, Entertainer, Jubilant, Exultant, Lucky)? The latter are awarded specifically for logging in during the month of May in any given year.
I know the difference between 'Veteran' and 'Event' badges, thank you very much.

    Quote:
At the same time, the developers need to reward the people who are using the store heavily just as much as those who subscribe consistently. That's why the Veteran Rewards program had to evolve into the Paragon Rewards program--you're now rewarded for any real world money you spend on the game, whether it's on your subscription or on microtransaction points. People have been asking for that to happen ever since booster packs were first introduced. I'm sorry you don't like it, but I would bet heavily against that opinion belonging to the majority of players.
I never said i was against the store. I said i was against the fact that people can throw a bunch of money at the game, and get rewarded immediately for it, making it unfair. As stated, i was fine with waiting on my Veteran rewards, because we all had to. Now some rich kid comes in, and throws $500 at the game the 1st day he plays it, and he has more rewards than someone who can't throw that amount of cash at the game, but who's been playing for 2 or 3 years. It would be more fair for all if they withheld the tokens and gave them monthly, or even two a month if you did spend a bunch of cash or bought a full year worth of game time.

So with that in mind, I have to wonder whether you're just caught up in the wrong terminology (understandable), or whether you do, in fact, simply object to Paragon/NCSoft selling anything at all. The perks you get under the Paragon Reward system are no different, in principle, from the perks you might've gotten from a Booster Pack or an Expansion, in the past -- or from the various items available now on the Paragon Market.

Do you think all of the above perks are unfair because they're bought? Or are you just annoyed that the old Vet perks in particular can now be bought? If the latter, why discriminate?
That issue what i said "According to the old system" has NOTHING to do with what you are listing. It's regarding the new 1 year vet badges.
Maybe you are confused regarding this, since we have the Reward Tokens, and the 1 Year Veteran Badges. I don't see those Tokens as Veteran Reward Tokens, and i went in detail in previous posts why it's name is misleading.

I'm Wondering how they now decide the 1 year mark for players. Is it only for people who pay, and every 12 months paid they get the yearly badge? Even though it could be that they pay a month, go Premuim for a month, pay a month and so on. So, according to the time paid, he's a 1 year vet, but in all actuality, he's a 2 year vet.

There is nowhere where it is listed how they count this.
  14. Just funny that you guys are now completely neglecting the older servers.
    I saw this coming tho.

I'm avoiding the Exiled server like the plague.
I have my friends, my toons and my SG on my home server, i have no reason to start over.

*Wishing i could sell my Server Transfer Tokens, or at least pick a reward i find more useful*

To leave on a positive note...

Some great costumes in these pics.. gave a me a few ideas..
    GRATZ to the winners!

According to the old reward system, yes. But this is the new system.

News to me. I know that about 2 years ago, they reworked the Vet Reward program because it wasn't awarding things on time, and as part of that, some people got a few extra rewards that they didn't actually earn (most I ever heard of was 3). But you shouldn't see anybody who left 5 years ago with all 7 yearly badges.
That's why i have seen people who have been gone for 5 years, have the 7 year vet badge?
And again, you are referring to the old system. These issues i have, are not with the old reward program, they are with the system that came out with i21.

In my honest opinion, life in general is unfair to people who don't have enough money. This game is much more fair than most in rewarding its players, both past and present.
I'm glad that you like the game being turned into real life. Myself, and several other i talked to, dislike this new 'reward' system.
  16. Try clicking on the 'star' part that is at about head height.

They moved the 'click' part to counter people blocking mission doors that were on the ground.

There is one other thing that bugs me too...

If you bought a boxed set of the game, you'll get 1 Token.
What about the people who bought multiple boxes? they only get 1 token.

So the fact that this rewards the same no matter how much you have spend, is rubbing the people who bought multiple boxes the wrong way too. They paid more money to get: Good vs Evil, AE, Collector's Edition's, Mac Version, Going Rogue and so on, yet get the same as people who only bought Going Rogue.. makes no sense to me.

As a long-time vet, I don't feel that way. I don't need to repress others so that I can feel superior. If they pay their money they should be able to get whatever they pay for.

I can sort of understand the sentiment that vets had to accept years worth of "filler" rewards (respecs, costume change tokens -- I've got more than 80 costume changes on some characters, etc.) while waiting for the one or two decent rewards that came out each year.

But as long as I get to keep everything I already have, I don't really care if someone else can get all the same stuff I have by paying the same amount of money in one day that I paid over seven years. Because in the future I'll be able to skip over the stuff I don't care about and get only those things that do interest me.
My issue with this reward tree is, that people CAN get T9 VIP in one day.
This is designed for people with money. If you make an account today, buy a year of time, you'll get 12 tokens. Also, for every $15 spend on Paragon Points, you'll get a token. Meaning a new player, who pays a year time, and spends $100 on Paragon Points the 1st day he plays, will get 12+6=18 tokens. Meaning this person has more tokens than a current 2 year vet, who has 10, or 11 if he's lucky. Meaning the new player is rewarded for his money spending, while the 2 year vet who has been loyal to the game, and might not have the money to throw away at the game is left with a very bad taste in his mouth.

I really didn't mind the old reward, wait like EVERYONE else. But this new system makes me very angry.

Also, how are the new 1 year veteran badges counted?
Is it from the date you created your account? Is it time paid? it's not stated ANYWHERE. Why do people who left the game 5 years ago, came back as a premium player, have more reward tokens than the current players, and are listed as being veterans even for the time they were not online and paid.

In my honest opinion... This new system is unfair to the people who don't have the money to throw away, while it rewards the rich people.
  19. Eyes on VEAT helmets not glowing.

I posted about this several times, and no reply from a redname.

The eyes on the original VEAT costume do not glow.
The eyes on the Huntsman Helmet do glow.
The eyes on NPC Crabs and Banes do glow.
The eyes on the Incarnate Lore Bane do glow.
The eyes on the Pre-Order Helmets do glow.

So can we please fix this?

    • Check the free space on your disk. Some have reported the NCSoft Launcher not handling too little disk space properly. Since the patch is 2.5 gigs, you will want a minimum of 5 gigs free space, with 7 to 10 being safer.
      • Do not assume you have the space. Actually check. (Simplest way is to right click on the drive in Windows Explorer, and select "Properties." The window that pops up should have the information right about in the middle of it.)
      • You might need something like SpaceMonger to help you track down the worst offenders of disk space.
    • Do you have your launcher set to start at Windows start up? Try disabling that if you do. (From the Launcher window select "File" > "Settings" and uncheck "Automatically run the Launcher on Windows startup.") A few have reported that fixing their Launcher weirdness. This setting won't take affect until you reboot (see next).
    • Try a "cold boot." Instead of selecting Restart for you computer, have it Shutdown instead. After it has completely powered down, let it sit quietly for a minimum of 10 seconds. If you can spare it, letting it sit for 30 seconds to a minute might be better. You can let it sit powered down longer if you want, but it probably won't provide any benefit.
    • Try deleting the "addcache.xml" file in your City of Heroes folder. Some connection issues have been resolved by this, although none that I know of are patch downloading issues.
    • Consider a clean install of CoH, and/or your OS. I know, most people avoid this like the plague, and for pretty good reasons too. But if you have been running the same OS install for a while, and CoH for a year - and especially if longer - things might need a clean install. From what I have been reading, the Launcher and CoH have been changing how they handle several things. And while that is great for a new install, those changes can cause problems on long established systems. This guide from Microsoft should be a good place to start if you want to consider this.

G'luck. Many people aren't having problems, but those that do seem to have weird and very hard to track down problems.
    1) I have about 15GB of free space on my HD
    2) I do not have it set up that way, i have to manually start it.
    3) I didn't know this would help with downloading, but i'll try it one day.
    4) Thnx for the tip
    5) And yes, last night i was thinking about doing a new install. I have several CoX disks, incl Going Rouge. Even tho the download will be way bigger, mayb that would help with the issue.

As of now, after several times dl'ing more than the patch said it would, freezing up while dl'ing and/or dl being rebooted to 0%, i think it's working.
Left it overnight, and the launcher had to restart. Upon restart my heart sunk, cus i saw again the 2511mb download being started, but after a few seconds it went to the patch version.

Now it's downloading the 592mb patch.. i just hope that this will work as supposed... if not, i can try steps 3, 4 and 5 if needed.

    Thnx again for the info.
  22. The reason i told him to go somewhere else, is because i know him from other threads, in which he did not add anything useful, instead just try to start something.

I have never had any issues updating a patch, the only thing i can think off...
I have recently installed the Beta and Test servers.. and they want to update and such too. I try to pause it, but my main game still is affected by it, and just freezes up while downloading.

And i'll see what tech says, cus this is getting to the point that i just want to delete the whole thing.
  23. Yup.. again.
Download froze after downloading more than the amount it should have.
So i 'paused' it, closed the launcher, opened it again.. and guess what?

The download started at 0%.. AGAIN!!!!

    <BLEEP> THIS!!!

I have been f'd outta playing time i have paid for.. and it seems this will only continue!
  24. And again.. downloaded more than the patch said it would, and it froze. I'm scared to close it and open the launcher again.

And gob, please go troll somewhere else, thank you.
  25. I have been trying to patch the game since Tuesday 11am PDT.
1st it wouldn't stop downloading, and kept going even past 2800mb of the supposed 2511mb. Exited the launcher, opened it again, and it started at 0%.
Tried yesterday again, kept stopping, and restarting.
Today the same thing.. it froze up at 75% of 2511mb, and again, it rebooted to 0%!

What happened to the 100% download i had?
Why does it go back to 0%? even after i paused it several times, and it restarted at the percentage i paused it on.

    WTF is this?

If i can't get on the game before Saturday, i want to be compensated for it.
    Because this.. is utter BS!
