Lord Erebus nodded a welcome in response. The light flirting of the guests who had already arrived meant nothing to him, it was all so impermanent to him. He took a seat and watched the room, waiting for the other guests.
-
It had been a trying week.
Lifting his thoughts from what susceptible mind to devour next, Lord Erebus had turned his thoughts towards politics. Which countries were at odds with who, which corporation had interests in which party, what conglomerate had their hands on the strings of which government. He had found it all terribly boring. Nonetheless, he had taken in a few board meetings, back room deals and golden handshakes, keeping himself invisible as he observed one fat, corrupt human greasing the wheels for another fat, corrupt human while treading on the heads of various underlings. Having decided which of the disgusting gentlemen he found the most loathsome during the week, he had then followed them home and consumed their family while they slept. It had given him little satisfaction.
Had he learnt anything useful he asked himself as he approached the mansion. Probably not. His compatriots desire to rule some patch of land on this godforsaken world meant little to him. But the chance to work uninterrupted, to have a whole nation of miserable humans to experiment with excited him. Perhaps when he had destroyed enough of their twisted little hearts, he might finally find what he was looking for Still, there was a long way to go and there was much work to be done. His lesson in world politics might not have been fun but it had certainly been useful. When it had bored him, he had turned his attention to his other pet project.
Held under his arm was a carved box, made of blackened wood. He had waited for some time to use this device and it had taken a while to perfect but he considered that it would be a useful agent in achieving the aims of their little group. The guard at the door greeted him and requested that he may be permitted to look inside the box to ensure that what Erebus carried was not a gun or some other weapon.
Sighing impatiently, Erebus considered consuming the guard but opened the box so that the impudent human could look in. Seeing that the box contained nothing but a bottle of liquid, a glass slide and a pair of glasses the guard let the Lord pass, glad to be free of the gaze of his lifeless eyes. It was only when he saw the black clad gentleman enter the meeting room did he start breathing normally again. -
Hi folks.
Having played about 35 levels of Katana/Dark, Im considering giving Broadsword/Regen a go (especially with the nice new weapon options). However, from a quick glance at the powers and from observing other BS users while in teams, it seems that the powers and animations are quite similar.
Are there any significant differences between Broadsword and Katana? Or am I just trading quick recharge and lower end use for a bit more spike damage?
Thanks. -
*scratches head*
I'm not sure whether to be confused, embarrassed, flattered or furious at being threatened. Either way, I think I'm just going to avoid this thread.
The LoRDs are due to meet again on the 20th I believe. I'm sure the next part will be played out after that date. -
I third the notion. As mentioned in the thread on playing villains, there is always 'the bleed' and I tend to suffer this as well after too long. The thought of causing suffering in places which are already in turmoil makes me squirm uncomfortably inside.
-
Ah, this might be why I've never noticed it. I'm Thugs/Dark and I found every time I gave him the first upgrade he handclapped everything out of my debuffs. Since then, I've never Equipped him.
-
Is this bug recent? I've never noticed my Bruiser doing anything other than charging in and laying the hurt down. I'm told he's meant to have a gun but I've never seen him use it.
As for melee shy zombies, I swear by numberpad keybinds. -
Lord Erebus raised his glass.
"I concur," he stated, "to victory. Our victory."
He drank the wine hastily. It brought him no pleasure but then that was expected. Stimulation of the flesh had ceased to mean anything to him years ago. -
Lord Erebus shrugged his thin shoulders when he heard the plan. It seemed acceptable enough. Give the do-gooders something to run around and get excited about while the real evil goes on beneath their noses.
I approve, he stated in his sepulchre like tones. A simple diversion followed by the real acquisition. And although I agree that use of nuclear bombs might be a tad extreme, I see no reason why the threat should not exist. If we are to oust some other world power, fear can be a very effective threat. What if the nation was to merely think that they were under nuclear attack? Their outwardly hostile reactions to other nations may be enough to ignite whatever powder keg already exists there. Meanwhile we simply move in and take what we desire.
He shrugged again and leaned back into the chair.
Either way, utter chaos is not my aim. Fear, despair and desolation make for a malleable populace, one that is easily ruled should you so desire to do so. But I intend to rebuild. Miss Barzini may know of my current domain but my aims go far beyond the ruin of nations. To rebuild the world in our image requires the current world to be swept away. And I feel that with a little push, humanity is quite capable of doing so itself. -
Where are the LoRDs going? I dont know. For now, Im happy to play my part and enact a character that for ages, simply hasnt had the right environment to do so. The LoRDs are elusive, hard to tackle and rightly so. I too dont see them wandering around the world looking for likely heroes to pick on. RP PvP can be a great thing when it happens but Id be surprised if any of the LoRDs (with the exception of Hates and XV) would be brash enough to dive headlong into a PvP zone. Erebus certainly wont be, hes far too conniving. (Plus, I also suck at PvP Fact.
)
Im glad to see that the thread is exciting people but like all good things, they take time to come to fruition. Right now the LoRDs are simply gathering, collaborating and planning. Once (and if) they decide on a plan of action, only then will others begin to get involved. To throw open the doors to everyone would cause utter chaos as every hero worth his salt attempts to pound the LoRDs into pate. I suspect that when (and if, remember theyre not in complete agreement yet) the LoRDs make a move, people may not even know its them. So far, not one hero knows about this meeting and its likely that they never will. Not until its too late of course. Mwah ha ha ha!!! -
Lord Erebus tried not to laugh. Burn Paragon City to the ground! And lose what riches it held in it's steely grasp? Clearly the intent of some here lay no further than simple destruction. But then perhaps, would it not be best to destroy so that then they could rebuild? Long forgotten plans for Erebus' Temple of Pain reappeared in his head and he tried not to become too excited at the prospect. Grasping his cane, he took to his feet to talk.
"Destruction?," he began, "Perhaps. But let us not forget that there will need to be a bright new future to replace it and if we are of one accord, that bright future will be ours and ours alone. I have little need for the plebians that crawl amongst the city, you may rule over them as you see fit. All I ask is for fresh ones to consume on a regular basis. What I desire are their hidden depths of their knowledge. MAGI hold rare and precious magics that could render this planet assunder, that could elevate one to the plane of the gods themselves! And it is those that I seek above all other. Should there be a trail of broken bodies in my wake, so be it."
He resumed his seat, slightly annoyed that he had shared so much. "Preserve them and you have my assistance. Burn them carelessly and I cannot promise to be merciful. That is all I require of you." -
Lord Erebus allowed a smile to play across his thin lips while the others spoke. He knew of the people in the room, by reputation at least but that did not endear him to playing nicely with them. He was used to keeping to she shadows, taking what he wanted and not caring for the consequences. Alliances were few and far between for him, just the way he liked it. The sewers were his domain, the Lost and the Vahzilok giving him wide berth. The Council had tried to invade his territory more than once but once he had consumed a number of them and left their desiccated remains for the others to find, they left him alone as well. But other career criminals? He almost shuddered at the thought. They all wanted their empires of silver and gold, nothing like the utter desolation that he desired. Would he be a hypocrite to help them build their kingdom only to consume it from within? A debate for another time perhaps. As long as he was allowed access to the forbidden magics hidden by some of the heroic organisations, given opportunity to practice them without interference and had enough souls to gorge himself on, he would be happy. Content with his logic he spoke.
What you propose sounds agreeable. And I too share the accord that each of us should not seek to destroy each other until we have achieved our goals. However, we should also be aware of each others goals so that we do not interfere unduly. Do we all feel comfortable sharing such secrets with one another? Who here feels that we can share that degree of trust? -
Lord Erebus barely even raised an eyebrow to the sudden violence as the latest guest entered the room. He watched the usher crawl away to nurse his wounds and made a mental note to seek him out later once he had established whether or not the mistress of the house would notice his disappearance.
-
The door to the room swung open and the next visitor was shown in. The man was tall and gaunt but in apparently good health. He wore an immaculately tailored black suit with grey undershirt which contrasted with his white hair and strode with confidence into where the other guests sat. Despite a thin, black cane by his side he walked with no impediment.
Good day to you, he said, taking a seat apart from the others. There was something insidious to his deep voice, a low, snake-like hiss and the way his eyes flicked about the room had a tendency to put others on edge. I am known to others as Lord Erebus and I come as requested. Have the reasons for our summons been disclosed? -
Nice. Somewhere between Clueless and Heathers perhaps?
I found myself reading faster to emulate the rapid fire of her patter. -
Any travel power that takes you more than 160ft away from your minions will leave them behind you and they will respawn next to you. SS, SJ and Teleport will do this, Flight less so. I can fly across a city with them running along below me.
Group TP is expensive for moving your minions around and has short range and Group Fly causes them to lag behind you and fall out of the sky. For some reason, they fly slower than you and will leave the range of the power if you fly forward for more than 5 seconds at a time.
I really wish they'd fix Group Fly for MMs. I want my band of flying zombies! -
I can confirm my attendance for tonight's Manticore TF. I'll be waiting at Manticore from about 19:50.
Dante M. Carver - Level 32 Dark/Dark Defender.
Looking forward to seeing you there. -
I might be up for the Manticore TF if I can get the Saturday night clear. If I can, I'd like to join with my lvl 31 Dark/Dark Defender. I'll confirm later on.
-
Do you ever have any luck with computers Z?
-
Thanks to those who responded but in light of the low turn out, I'm going to cancel this for now. If anyone fancies doing this TF at another time, I'll still be up for it.
-
((Farewell friends.
I can honestly say that the opportunities and experiences that you have provided to myself and the community have had a profound effect on the Union RP universe and we shall be poorer without you both.
My the gods smile on you whatever you venture into next.)) -
I had considered another Roleplayers Xmas bash this year but I simply haven't had the time to do anything about it. I think this sounds like a fab idea although I'd suggest doing it anytime other than New Year's Eve itself as I reckon a lot of people (including myself) will probably be busy.
I'm sure a few of my fun characters can dress up for the occasion. -
Hi all.
Tired of the rellies? Fed up with Xmas specials on telly? Sick to the back teeth of turkey? I know I will be by next Thursday. Hence, I fancy a TF and little bit of Crey bashing. I'm not sure who will be around and whether we'll get enough numbers for this but I thought I'd see who fancies it.
TF details are as follows:
Contact: Manticore
Level Range: 30 - 35
Zone: Brickstown
Primary Enemy: Crey
Badge: Manticore's Associate Badge
If you would like to join, please at your toon name and AT below.
1) Dante M. Carver - Dark/Dark Defender -
Oh, one last thing about Dark Blast:
It's mainly Negative Energy damage which is not resisted that much by most of the foes you'll face. However, most undead things ghosts, zombies and the like are highly resistant to it and your damage will suffer. Avoid Banished Pantheon like the plague if you can. At times when my Dark/Dark defender has to fight the undead, I am grateful for my Ghost Slaying Axe.
Good luck.
