not ... running out of end in the middle of fights, isn't easy
The player running out of endurance because they're throwing out attacks, healing, debuffs (especially high-cost ones) constantly without any regard for their ability to sustain them, plus running toggles that negate portions of their end regen is.. precisely what the Endurance system is supposed to do, from what I see. There are (supposed to be) consequences to insisting on throwing out everything you have at every moment. Lessening those consequences or their frequency is, in fact, making the game easier.

Whether that's a good or a bad thing, I leave to the opinions of others. I'm cautious toward it, personally.

    Red Ring Q

    Probably against the rules.

I haven't had an RROD in.. coming up on two years. I think their later generations of regular consoles have pretty much managed to fix the design flaw that led to RROD.
  3. Incarnate slots, not general power slots. They'll not do anything to alleviate slot crunch.
  4. In a world of high magic and high technology, even a sword can be a weapon that's nonlethal.
  5. Eh. Some people I know re-up for a month every new issue, and ultimately don't stick around. That thing the Veteran Rewards was supposed to combat. >_>
  6. Don't like, suspect won't be quite as effective, and probably will have the benefit eaten by the extra powers.
  7. A story whose internal mechanisms are consistent but so arcane and unknown as to defy the audience's sense of the real will, without some kind of explanation, likely cause them to lose suspension of disbelief. Especially if these internal mechanisms wind up/are central to the plot as presented.

Scott Pilgrim being, for lack of a better phrase, too much of an in-joke amongst gamers is probably one of those things.

Handwaving it as "it's the writers' point" is akin to telling people "shut your brain off and enjoy it", just as much as when it's done elsewhere.

I suspect there's different points being argued here, or I'm just missing something.

    Longer Buffs

The difficulty that I have with this suggestion is that many buffs are stupidly powerful as-is.

It takes maybe two buffers, without a single debuff or healing ability between them, at most, to trivialize 95 percent of the game. A third to trivialize 99%.

30-minute durations on these ridiculously powerful buffs would result either in the crippling of these buffs, or buffbotting being a viable strategy. I can tell you now that I wouldn't hesitate to swap to a buffbot to hand out a couple 30-minute buffs that would make the missions a breeze with our various teams' native defenses. If I, who is lazy, would do this, then think of what the real min-maxers could and would do.

Needing moderately frequent reapplication on these powerful buffs is how the game ensures three things - one, the player is awake and at the keyboard, two, that the player is still with the team when these buffs are being deployed, and three, that the buffs come with a cost commensurate with their power.
  9. Oh, hey. Kyra Sedgwick got Outstanding Lead Actress on a Drama Series this year. Yaaaay!

I'm not the one that started
You followed through. It was directed at both of you, because you're both getting way too personal and self-righteous about this.

Now how about actually addressing the part that directly disagrees with your stated position, considering the facts as listed in Moo's post?
  11. He wasn't in Praetoria when the incident occurred, from what I read. He -was- a Praetorian, and the incident occurred in Paragon, after converting to Hero.

You're getting too personal about this. Dial it down.
  12. Didn't see the ending (of the game) coming. Amused by it. Would not be surprised if that's how the comic ended.

I have to go with this. I've always looked at the NPCs knowing your AT as an in game mechanic, rather than an in character label.
Isn't it said, ingame somewhere, that the ATs we see are the FBSA's classifications for character powers? That would make the AT a matter of public record for any registered costumed vigilante, or any critter with a Threat record..

Allow a character to run as many Tip and Alignment Missions as they would like within their existing alignment to earn AMs
I highly doubt the system can distinguish between "In your existing alignment" and not when it comes to Fame acquired. Tips cease to drop at 5 Fame, regardless of which alignment one is pushing for, so.

I also fail to see the point behind this, because it shifts the "daily play" to a different area - just the cashing in instead occurs on a schedule, instead of the currency inflow. I don't feel that would be good for the game, being able to grind up an obscene amount of alignment merits in the span of a couple days, then just popping on every week or two for the sake of cashing in.

And, well.. the system is still new, and players haven't had much time to tinker around with it and really contemplate it. Proposing the change -now- seems to be a "The system doesn't work in a way that lets -me- maximize rewards, change it so I can even if that doesn't match system intent" kind of post.

As it stands, the system seems intended to be the counterpoint to the Reward Merit system - Alignment Merits can only be earned slowly over time but give big rewards for their cost, while Reward Merits can be gleaned quickly but require many for the big stuff.
  15. Curse you, filler! I was going to push a pair toward the other side, but you stole a fox from meeeeeee.

There was an explicit "no one shot rule" added not long after the implementation of PvP, theoretically to prevent Stalkers and other high-spike ATs and powersets from killing other players instantly.

However, the code only works if the player's HP is completely full - if even .1 of a hit point is missing, you can be killed immediately. The code also doesn't, say, prevent a DoT from killing you after you've been brought to 1 HP by the same attack.
  17. I'd rather they give Resurgence and Revive a few moments of Untouchable like they have with Soul Transfer (yes, Soul Transfer has 15 seconds of Untouchable) and RotP.
  18. It's a game mechanics thing and unlikely to change. A Vigilante is still considered a Hero as far as the game is concerned, and a Rogue is a Villain as far as the game is concerned.

Allowing people to skip the second set of arcs that makes them "native" to their new side (which is what this suggestion advocates, if perhaps accidentally) is probably not something that will occur.
  19. ...First soundtrack listed on the in post 119? I hate it. It gives me a headache. It makes me want to punch every single person involved in the movie, the game, a baby or two, EVERYTHING. I will punch the world and the world will break.

That which accompanies it is decent.
  20. I saw an ad or two for the movie on the Live dashboard. It... did a poor job of selling the movie to me. The game looks interesting, and I might buy it. That's the only source I ever heard about Scott Pilgrim from before this thread.

Anecdote is not data, but please keep in mind that fan myopia can easily set in going both ways.

That's perhaps the most insulting thing I've read in this thread, and perhaps the biggest turnoff to my decision to actually see it, if the fans are looking down at people who just aren't particularly interested, for any reason.
  22. I'm far from home and will have to wait until I get home to see it. 12 hour bike ride tomorrow to do so.
  23. Optimization passes. Lots of them. Praetoria, Rogue Isles, Paragon, base engine. Slapping on bells and whistles bogs down systems even when they don't use them.

    Additional character slots.

    My AE Wishlist

Critter power customization is not in at the moment due to memory concerns, if I recall correctly. In order for a critter to have customized powers, their file would grow in size, which would mean custom mobs take up even more space than they do today.

    2. The new zones, while made with Ultra Mode in mind, scale down extremely well. On low settings, Praetoria gives less graphics lag than most of the Isles.
..but it's still fairly brutal on PCs that were running Cities fine before the implementation of Ultra Mode and now are struggling, muttergrumble.
