I think the new flavors of the month are gonna be mind/energy and grav/energy, for what it's worth.
[/ QUOTE ]
I got on the forums about a year ago and I never thought I would be hearing this combo as a flavor of the month. But it is. -
I enjoy the buffs, played with my Mind/Energy for the first time since they came out. It is an all ranged build, perma also, and the damage is great, it no longer takes like 6 or 7 blasts to kill a +2 minion I can do it in 2. As far as end costs go not really feeling the bullet as much as others are. Don't have stamina on that build and I don't find myself needed a rest or a blue, but then again I am perma too.
-
Wow that was quick it just happened, does anyone know the reason?
-
[ QUOTE ]
Because a lot people have very limited imaginations.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes this is so true, I can still hear people telling me that my Bane Spider can't be an Arbiter. -
[ QUOTE ]
NOTHING drops in pvp now..neither zones or arena..no inf, no salvage, no insp...idk about recipes..probably no recipes either...all i could get for kills was reputation..GJ Devs...now what do we get pvp IOs from? Roleplaying?????
[/ QUOTE ]
Is this true? Can anyone confirm this? Not like a play PvP anyway, but on the off chance I might want to go there and try to get a PvP IO, I would really want this fixed. -
[ QUOTE ]
Protip: Eviscerate is sooooo much sexier with a buttcape.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes it surely is, I am mad that I have to re-level my Widow, but she stays in the epic costume unlike the first run.
I don't normally make female toons, but a male Widow just doesn't seem to fit well, and waist capes only come on females, and they are so HAWT. -
I hope it is not to late to join, I have a Earth/Fire I would like to sign up for this.
-
[ QUOTE ]
(4) Take the chance of knockback IO out of flashfire (it is beyond pointless and probably actually aggravating)
[/ QUOTE ]
It really is, I took it at first because it was cheaper than the other IO needed to have 5 for the recharge, but I quickly replaced it.
Edit: Not trying to down your build or anything but, I got mine with like at like 110% and I don't have any purple sets. I will post a cheaper build later on after I am done at work. -
[ QUOTE ]
Or here we go I can help the NOOB..
Take stamina.
[/ QUOTE ]
You act like this only applies for Dominators, I have three Scrappers, two blasters, Widow, and a plethora of other toons that tend to believe other wise.
Taking stamina is mainly so you don't have to monitor your end bar or stock up on blues.
And you are right, when Doms were considered weak it was not a requirement.
As for advising the noobs, I would say if you go with a set that has an AoE Stun i.e. Earth, Grav, and Fire, it is good to pair it with the AoE immob makes a good hold. Taking your pet at 32 helps save on end while adding more damage. Your main concern first should be mezzing targets then attack, there are only a select few targets in the game where that doesn't apply mainly EB/AV.
On a side note, going perma still has good advantages, like...
Double mag - taking out a boss in one shot is a great thing
Mez Duration - self explainatory
Mez protection - nough said
Full end bar and the recharge you get is good for the longer recharging powers.
70% is minimum 80% is comfortable. -
[ QUOTE ]
Gah! You people! I blame my minions! They were the ones collecting this obviously faulty data.
Also: If you want to be a contact and I left you off the list, it helps to, ya know, include your Global in your post.
[/ QUOTE ]
You are right sir, @Raahh. -
[ QUOTE ]
I can't take him seriously when he asks us to, "Just spend the money to purple out your Bane and you'll be fine". Makes me laugh actually. Calling it, "The strongest VEAT" is also a misnomer. Truthfully, it isn't the strongest in any one area. Instead, Banes are good at a little bit of everything. They've got pet(s), hold, debuffs, stealth, ranged, melee, +HP and some other toys. It's makes them a verstile, jack-of-all trades; master of none AT. You needn't purple them out to be effective or fun.
[/ QUOTE ]
This, Touch of Death gives better melee defense, and other sets offer better positional defenses than purples do. On my new build I think I have maybe one or two purple set(s) only for recharge though. They don't offer defenses like other sets do.
[ QUOTE ]
On a personal note, I did take the Fighting pool on my Bane and found it to be extremely helpful. He's melee oriented and the added resistance and defense was handy.
[/ QUOTE ]
If I could fit it in my build I would take it too, but I already over soft cap melee and ranged defenses, and get pretty close to soft capping AoE. However, tough would be a good benefit. -
I would like to start off by saying I am liking how this thread is going.
[ QUOTE ]
They also don't get a tier 9 power: web cocoon is a cool hold and all but I want something like shield's t9.
[/ QUOTE ]
No they don't get a traditional t9 power, however, Web Cacoon is a beast of a power though. It won't help you all that much in an EB/AV fight(but that isn't even a big part of the game), but the rest of the content it does a great job, who needs defense when they can't touch you.
[ QUOTE ]
Of course, one could pretend the 2 arachnobots are a t9... you summon them, then they bite the dust 15 seconds later and you're left with a feeling of "yyeeesss I'm pretty tough!" as you watch them fade away into nothingness (heh, couldn't resist saying that, for those of you that like the pets that's great but personally I find them both squishy and useless).
[/ QUOTE ]
You should get the patron pet, that plus the two pets are beasts, get TT:M, L:M, both pet IOs for resistance and defense, and I will think you would have a change in opinion. However, just with basic SOs my Call Reinforcements we ok they lasted the full 4 mins, but I also took L:M to complement TT:M. -
I like purples for the fact their bonuses can go all the way down to level one. I think I have two toons that are tricked out with purples, A Dom and a scrapper. They both benefit from high recharge, high accuracy, and high recovery, making exempting to lower levels not such a pain.
My Dom has 20% recovery, 50% recharge, 8% Damage, 75% accuracy, and 48% regeneration all the time. To sum it up you could say he runs stamina, health, Assault, Tactics, and hasten (all with slightly less values) all the time any level no crash no nothing. Was it worth the amount of time and money I invested in him? To me yes, I like the fact in low level content I am still a beast. And knowing that I can be permadom as low as level 7 is a good feeling too.
As for the drop rate or problem doesn't bother me, gives me a reason to keep playing post 50 content. To either get a purple drop or get enough money to buy one. -
Oh yeah, it is just something about seeing that Executioners Strike that just makes me love it, oh I now have to go play my Arbiter.
Note: I know this is kinda off subject but after thinking about my toon, have they made so you could change the color of the capes for spiders yet, I know butt capes have been added just wondering if this has been worked on yet. -
Good question, hope I don't get flamed for the answer I am about to give.
Really it all comes down to personal preference and playstyle. Widows are like suped up Scrapper/Stalkers. So if you like the type of style where you are just scrapping then that would be the route you would want to take. Widows have some great damage and defense.
Banes have a more diverse style of play that some don't like or just don't want to accomadate to. I would say they are more like Stalkanators (Stalker/Dominators). As they have some all time resistance, decent defense, perma health boost, loads of mitigation, pets, and some high damaging attacks.
So between the two, Bane requires a more active playstyle, whereas the Widow you can just run through. I like Banes, I guess because of all the things they can do. Banes do lots of other types of damage like Toxic and Energy, along with loads of mitigation; like stuns, KD, slows, defense debuff, and holds, on top of all that they get pets with about the same load of mitigation, while also increasing damage output and taking aggro off of you increasing survivablity.
So with the Bane it will require you to make sure you are debuffing and making sure you are using all this tools, whereas with a Widow the only the you have to do other than attack is make sure you use Mind Link when it is up or perma that and just attack.
Most people also don't like how the animation times on a Bane are horrible. Me personally I don't care, I can take out an LT in one hit in under 3 seconds and pretty much easily pick off the minions if my pets don't take them out first. Another thing most people think is that Banes are the most inferior of all VEATs, personally I don't think that is true, I have a far easier time soloing mishes, boss, and EB's with my Bane than my Crab.
So in a comparison Widows have good defense and damage so they can offset the fact that they have little to no mitigation. Banes are more active and have tools to divert aggro so that they are not attacked as much and don't need defense. Played correctly both can run through mishes and take little to no damage, it is just easier to get to that point with Widows than it is with Banes. -
[ QUOTE ]
Huh, you know? Based on a few posts about buffing them harder if they ask for them not to, next time a Cold Dom buffs me when I ask them not to on purpose (which is usually never, only toon of mine right now that gets almost no benefit is my softcapped /SR Scrapper),
[/ QUOTE ]
You do know softcap is only 45% defense, and with that it only means that an even level minion has a 5% chance to hit you, anything above that they get better. So I wouldn't turn down any buffs.
My DB/SR scrappers sits at 58% defense in all positions, if I get lucky enough to get on a team with a bubble defender, I ask them to keep bubbles up on me, makes me have perma crashless Elude (also justifies me for not taking it either.)
I don't care if the power makes me have smelly line that make my toon look like it stinks, a well slotted FF/ Defender can softcap a whole team and not getting hit is better than any type of heal.
I have never been blessed enough on any of my toons to be on a team with 2 FFs I would want to try that one day. -

I tried out Da_Captain's (I think) suggestion about EBs at range, and my Fire/Elec can (slowly) take out an EB using just Ring of Fire with range slotted, Build Up and Zapp. It's handy if I don't have the necessary purples. If I could get Voltaic Sentinel to attack at its full range it would be way faster.
[/ QUOTE ]
How dare you propose the use of Snipes AND ST immobs in the same post?! Your blasphemy knows no bounds!!! Burn the heretic!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
People are welcomed and encouraged to attempt fringe things. Sometimes it has payoffs, sometimes it fails.
I'm not sure how slowly "slowly" is, but I'm guessing it is pretty slow.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep Lili, that was my proposal thanks for giving credit (even though I am sure someone else has mentioned it before). Slotting some range in the ST immo and using the snipe (send your pet(s) in to take some aggro).
Yeah it does take a while took me like 20 mins for an EB, however, I was never touch, and did not need and defense or resistance. I also did not use any reds either. I think with the new patch this maybe a lot quicker.
On a side note if you want to speed things up, pay attention to the PToD and when they drop hold them and go to work, that will shave 5 - 10 min easy.
What I might do with this next patch is build for softcap ranged defense and 80% recharge, no need to really double stack anymore. -
[ QUOTE ]
I think the bullets in my dual pistols will stay the same color.
[/ QUOTE ]
But you get to customize the pistols, something we were already able to do though. -
[ QUOTE ]
9.) Universal Enhancement Slots - at level 50, these enhance powers to the character, essentially bringing them to a hypothetical "Level 60" once they have earned all ten slots - possibly redesigned/cut
[/ QUOTE ]
I hope not cut, this one would actually be a great idea. Would help power up powers you get late in the game that can only fit a couple of slots and offers better IO capabilities. -

[ QUOTE ]
I'd consider lowering sleep to mag 6 though so a solo mind can still sleep an AV with masshyp+mezmerize. But mass sleeping multiple AV's is not working as intended.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mass Hypnosis and Mezmerise don't stack - the damage from mez breaks any previous sleeps. The only way to stack sleeps is to have 2 characters with non-damaging sleep powers which would make sleep basically useless in most of the cases being discussed here.
I always figured the fact that sleep broke instantly was being used to balance out the low mag sleep resistance even the toughest mobs tend to get.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well if you did Mezmerize first and then Mass Hypnosis. -
If you want to see the exact numbers on what stamina is doing, go to Combat Attributes from the powers tab and look at base and it will let you know how much recovery stamina is giving you.

More seriously, I really want to play with the new energy, but I can't decide what to pair it with. I *want* to pair it with illusion, but that option doesn't exist yet. I may just sit on it until illusion is finally proliferated in issue 17 or whenever.
Weren't we supposed to get more than just one round of proliferation? Seems like it's been quite a while since we heard anything about it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a Mind/Energy that I was already content with pre i15, now I am overjoyed that he will feel more uber than ever. However, as far as trying to put /Energy with another set, I am with this person, I just don't see it going with anything other than Ill/, I mean the pet summons pets and shoots energy blasts it is almost like running with another dom. -

Would a Circle of Thorns theme team be interesting to anyone?
[/ QUOTE ]
Thing that sucks about CoT theme is that there are no full robes available for either gender.
[/ QUOTE ]
I was so hoping for those in the magic set, but the high collar cape were a great addition too. -
Hey, this maybe a stupid question, but what is the quickest way to rake in some influence/infamy? Trying to make it to the BC.
