I'd settle for a height slider.

What I really really want is a more accurate number represented system than the sliders. They are extremely imprecise and adjusting them by eye feels very sloppy to me.
I also have a major problem with the Backgrounds of the character creation screen, I would prefer a larger opaque lighter colored background so I can see darker details. -
I just want to make it clear that I absolutely am in love with Powerset Proliferation and Issue 12 in general, I thing this game's Devs and NC truly care about the happiness and entheusiasm of the Players/Subscribers.
That said I have a serious peeve with the powersets given to 2 of the ATs Redside.
Brutes and Stalkers.
First Stalkers:
They get annother resistance based set. Just as a Brute's lifeline is Fury, a Stalker's lifeline is Hide. A Stalker's ability to hide is dependant on the stalker not being hit. Resistance does not aid in this one bit. There was no reason that stalkers could not have gotten Ice powers since they do not generate fury anyway.
Brutes:
Get a Defensive set... Ok let me get this straight. Brutes can't get Ice Powers because the slows cause the enemies to hit the brute less thereby decreasing Fury generation. But the can get defense based armors which prevent enemies from hitting them at all? I don't get it. -
PvP exists in this game because it wouldn't make sense to not exist. You can't have Heroes and Villains and not allow them to freely duke it out.
But this is not a PvP game, or a PvE/PvP game, it is a PvE game with available PvP as a necessary feature but not a major focus of the gameplay. If CoV had never been made there would never have been any PvP except maybe the Arenas appearing about 3 Issues after they actually came out.
Every Power, Ability and Archetype in the game makes sense from a PvE standpoint but many seem crazy and unfair from a PvP vantage (TP Foe or AS anyone, Rad, Pets, etc?).
PvP needed to function at at least a minimal reasonable level, so changes were made to the game to accomodate and even these were noticable in the PvE side of things.
Now with the goal of working (not balanced) PvP accomplished the Devs actually never abandoned PvP, they continued to both expand and improve it but it was always obvious that PvP would never be as important, popular, fun, balanced as PvE.
PvP as it exists today is PvP as it will always exist in this game. If there are specific problems or imbalances then the Devs may be able to tweak PvP in minor ways to compensate but the types of changes casual (not hardcore, they will play no matter what) PvPers would require to make PvP attractive and as successfull as PvE would change the face of the game to the extent it may not be recognizable anymore, and why rock the boat, this is one of the most successful MMOs in the world and contains arguably the BEST PvE experience in any MMO EVER. -
My biggest gripe about TFs is that they are usually the best storylines in the game and I never get to actually absorb any of the story while on a TF/SF team.
Only the Team leader gets to talk to the contact and hear what is said between missions and at the end of the TF.
You still get to read the mission briefings and the clues list but often because the Tf is so long the team rushes through it and if you stop to read the story you are holding everyone up. -
^^ That's a bug, been doing that forever.

Oh the post above; check again on that costume bug, i'm pretty sure i fixed it.

Actually, the gap in the pattern on the arms is now gone but the patern is still misaligned at the seam on the toro and arms.
Honestly though, I don't really care too much about that one. The Ninja headband thing is driving me up the wall though
and Jay is sexy for replying. -
OK I had this in the previous thread but still not fixed. Patterns that run around arms or around the torso reveal an obvious seam in the character model as well as warping effect which makes the patterns appear mismatched.
Screen 1
Screen 2
These screens were taken with the Males/Zombie/Assassin. Options but it is the same with other variations.
2nd: Females with "Full Mask" using a headband detail with the "Ninja Hood" detail will have the headband under and clipping through the "Ninja Hood". Males and Huge properly display the headband over the "Ninja Hood". Sorry no screens but easily replicated.
Oh, and as a wise (and probably drunk) man once said "Jay is Sexy". -
Honestly, why the hell complicate things, why not just put a tab flag or option to turn on or off Admin announcements? You can do it for opposing side chat already.

What I would like to see is the Invasion strike at a single zone, and not end until they had all been defeated.
I really didn't like the Bombing runs, there was never enough time to get organized to take out the dropships. And there was too much red text cluttering everything up.
Just give me one solid Invasion of one single zone on each side once a week and then you'll REALLY see a War Zone.
But as long as the RWZ is around, I'll be happy anyway. -
Yeah I'd much rather prefer GTA style Mayhems where the POLICE AREN'T ALREADY IN PLACE. You get seen, ppl call the police, you enter the bank, guards defend it, call the cops, if the cops can't handle it Longbow gets called in and then a Hero.

1) safeguards seem rather easy to complete compared to mayhems..

qft
Primarily because of the Longbow Ambushes for each "resisting Arrest" time bonus. No one actually comes after you in Safeguards since they are in Paragon. We need Rogue Isles safeguards with Arachnos ambushes. -
Scanner Missions are just a way for ppl to lvl up fast between or past contact missions.
If you are lv 50, you will get very bored with them very fast due to the lack of storyline. -
Mayhems and Safeguards have the same fatal flaws
1: There is really no reason to do the same Mh/Sg more that once. The reward is 1 time, the mission is long making regular missions worth more XP, and the novelty dies quick.
2: They are HARD at your own or higher levels and on large teams Hard =/= Fun.
3: Hero and Villain missions are the same. But Villains are cooler.
All of this stems from the same point: Mayhem/Safeguards are designed like PvP missions, but they don't include PvP.

^^^^ Wow, didn't know they did that to "doubleyou tee eff" -
The problem with Teleport is that it does not have a dedicated travel power Enhancement type. It uses Range Enhancers which unlike Flight, Run Speed, and Jump Speed Enhancers are on Schedule B meaning they only give 20% each up to a max of 60% instead of the others which are schedule A and give 33% up to a max of 99%.
Teleport is 40% less enhanceable than other travel powers.
Solution: We need a dedicated Enhancer only for Teleport Distance. Then it can be Schedule A. -
I would just like to point out that Blasters and Brutes have Burn in thier Secondary sets while Tankers have it in thier Primary.
There are almost no powers shared among ATs which are as good or better as a Secondary than as a Primary. -

While I'm completely unrelated to this discussion, I've got to disagree on a couple of previous points.
Firstly, The City of Heroes storyline has loose ties with the "real" world, especially regarding World War II, though I emphasize the word "loose".
Secondly, using the "real" world as a standard to which a compelling story or world is compared to completely defeats the purpose of video games in general. People play video games to explore new worlds, new possibilities. While a number of people are content to see a rehash of reality, many more people want to immerse themselves in a totally new world, something that takes real effort.
If you want to claim it's difficult for a totally fictional work to bring in a loyal audience, millions of creative minds, and their fans, would like to have a word with you. Not everyone wants the latest retake on World War II. I know I got bored with it six million times ago.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

The MArvel and DC comic universes are based on "real world" history too. To paraphraze you:
If you want to claim it's difficult for a real world based story work to bring in a loyal audience, millions of comic writers, and their fans, would like to have a word with you. Not everyone wants a world they can in no way relate to.
Fantasies ar always more gripping when you insert something outlandish into a normal setting. (ET anyone?) -
Definately, but until they open an AU server, you're stuck on the NA or EU timing.
Ya should get your friends to play and their friends and many more Auzzies and then maybe they will open an AU server -

I hope that the ability to drop missions is simply an option with no requirements or penalties. Personally I know that on occassion getting missions to hunt in zones I look at as a chance to explore new places. However getting missions to hunt in certain zones I regret. Same with some missions, the not knowing what zone the mission is in is a pain. Sometimes that places a significant factor in which mission I would pick. To simple be able to say as a player " I don't feel like hiking to XXXXXX and get a new mission would improve the fun of the game I believe. Now if this would simple recycle the mission possible giving it a different location I think eventually most characters would go through most of their missions. I also hope that contacts can be retooled so that at least prior to level 14 they don't give missions outside the zone you're in. It's hard enough to do your first few missions across the zone.
I also hope for a "flash back" option. Something that would allow you to auto extemp/lackey to approperiate level range for missions like how task forces do now. So we can work on the varies story arcs and finish out contacts regardless of level progression.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mission drops are already active. They let you drop 1 mission for full clear and reward every 7 days. That's it. Oh and not timed missions or TFs or badge missions. -
So my 2nd contact gives me the talk to Wincott mission. I get back and he gives me the Jewel of Hera CoT mission. This mission will be in Perez if you are high enough level. I've even had it spawn in Kings Row if the contact is in Kings Row. But I am level 5 and my contact is in Atlas. The mission spawns in the Hollows. IN THE OPPOSITE CORNER OF THE MAP FROM THE ATLAS GATE, 2 MILES AWAY!
This is the kind of crap I hate because I am not slogging through the Hollows by choice. -
[ QUOTE ]
I've been reading the Hollows-issue the last few pages. I don't know if this already suggested nor I know if it's codewise possible, but how about how about keeping the doors in Hollows for lowbee toons' missions in the lowbee enemy-areas near Atlas gate? ... And of course have the doors go farther and farther away the higher the level the toon is without making them have to walk to areas with like +3s or more (with no more than like a half mile to run with toons that are lower than lvl14)
[/ QUOTE ]
Seriously, this is one of my least favourite aspects of the game, not just the Hollows. Contacts send you across the zone and even into other zones. I can understand if it is a "talk to this guy" mission, but instanced missions really need to spawn sat within 500 yards of the contact that gives then to you. -

Y'know, the SG storage is nice, but why the hell can't there be a central bank we can use in the game? I mean I know they exist, I have robbed 13,000 of them on CoV!
[/ QUOTE ]
Would you want to put your stuff in a bank that gets robbed that often?

Obviously I would be doing offshore banking -

-Remove NPCs from PvP zones (Other than the big guys in RV)
[/ QUOTE ]
Those guys give missions and those missions almost all the time give badges!Don't get rid of them!
[/ QUOTE ]
I meant NPC Mobs outside missions, sorry. -
Well if this is gonna turn into a suggestions thread....
-Make it so that I can sell anything to a contact that I can buy from them (inspirations, same origin enhancements)
-Make SG storage bins (Insp, Enh and Salvage) hold infinite ammounts.
-Remove NPCs from PvP zones (Other than the big guys in RV)
-Make the early PvP zones SMALLER and the later ones BIGGER.
-Make an incentive to use the Arena
-Make contacts less sadistic, don't let them send you to street sweep lv 10s 3 zones away when you are lv 6. Don't have them send you out of zone on missions until you are lv 14.
-Revamp the hollows to make it less hellish for pre travel power toons. Perhaps reverse it's and Perez's level ranges.
-Overhaul all the travel powers to actually make them cool and fun to use.
-Add more hero groups to CoV for you to fight. I am so damn sick of CoT and Council, Malta. I play CoH to fight these. All the hero groups other than longbow dissapear by late game.
-Make GMs equal risk/effort vs reward.
-Even out the aproximate difficulty of all AVs /Av>EBs. Some are WAY harder than others and some are a joke.
-Take a good look at the power pools and which ones are too necessary (fittness) and which ones are never used (presence).
I could go on but it's late...
