Hell, I've gone away for a few months and come back to a ton of emails. 4 seconds of clicking and they are all gone and on ignore. You people overreact.
I counter this anecdotal evidence with my own: occasionally I come back to a character after a couple of weeks to find the inbox full of spam, which requires me at least three or four minutes of clicking (and waiting for the server to respond) before the inbox is cleared. "Four seconds" is certainly nowhere near the actual time taken.

I think, but could be wrong, that it was potentially offensive because it was basically Jesus Tapdancing Christ. However, this seems a little off to me; I'm almost positive that the reason is something else, perhaps related, but I can't remember exactly what.

I should have mentioned: assurances from unofficial corners. Looking back, I don't remember any such announcements from the mods, but the players who did mention the post counts going away were fairly reputable, so I kind of assumed it was true.

It wouldn't have affected me either way, so I didn't bother to double-check.
  5. I miss Pilcrow. Especially Pilcrow's first avatar, which later got removed for... something, I forget what.

I miss craban's surreal posts. I think what made them non-annoying was that the surreal parts had nothing to do with the game, but were masterpieces of creative writing in general, and when he did talk about the game, he proved to be erudite and friendly.

I'm also missing Sam Tow's red-and-white Z avatar thingie. Put it back, Sam.
  6. I'm actually surprised that we still have post counts displayed, after all the assurances from all corners that it was one thing that would not carry over.

On the other vBulletin board with reputation points I'm used to, it's been the source of many a Drama, but nowadays people seem to just take it in stride. Possibly we're all tired of complaining about it, so we find other things to complain about.
  7. Played Overlord. Sucked at it.

I have to keep remembering that I'm a Mastermind, not a Tanker.

This is a normal media practice - exaggerate and sensationalize a 'fact' that is not easily refuted. Can you PROVE it's not true?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I question "normal".

Damn, wish I didn't have to work and could just gripe and moan about not being able to play online

Or be in another time zone.

Come on, you've been here for five years. You must know by now that the developers never release any answers to any questions this far in advance. So what's the point of asking them? Enjoy the game as it is now (or as it is about to be, on the test server) and let the future take care of itself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think I remember some instances where they used to reveal some feature or something that was Far Future kind of thing. (SSOCS or something.)

When it failed to materialize, the players complained, and they stopped answering questions, or at least started filtering them through PR.

Of course, I also remember them denying that a new issue was being patched to Test or Live until the servers came back up, so they've become more open on at least one aspect.

    New smilies?

The CoH star and CoV Arachnos symbol.

    Archetype and Origin icons.

I doubt we'll get power icons, since that would make the list too unwieldy.

I'm not sure what else we can get. Signature character smilies? I seem to remember seeing them before (somewhere), especially a freaky-looking Ghost Widow one, but I don't remember where.

I wonder if rogue-Positron has been standing in Steel Canyon for a while now. He looks so creepy with his helmet off. I saw some children crying as they walk by him.

    What children?

looking at the interviews, there will be a hero tf and a villain sf? where is the problem there? Did they specify a level somewhere I missed?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's in the I15 announcement on our CoH/V site. The level range will be 45-50 for both hero and villain versions.

"Force player completion to rate" option on missions

Oh please oh please oh please.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I am on the last or second-last mission of a four or five mission arc, and I am unable to complete it due to a sudden horde of AVs, I think I am still entitled to some say on what I think of the arc.

I'm willing to settle for a rating option which basically says "did not complete", along with my actual rating.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
While in reality, the only story type being asked for (or ran) in AE involves a completely unrelated element of great drama and play writing, known in most literary circles simply as… “Farm”.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    "Only"?

So, come on, happy apathetic people, do a little dance, get your boogie on!

    Dkellis, Leandro suggested SLMA

    [/ QUOTE ]

SLMA it is. I realize that soloability is subjective, though, especially when the first "SLMA" tagged arc I tried contains an Elite Boss, guarded by a Boss-ranked Nictus Dark Nova. Leandro, was that on purpose?
  18. Have there been any suggestions for a tag for soloers? Particularly those who don't want to deal with AVs and EBs?
  19. The Steam community forums have among the most unreadable image captchas I've ever encountered.
  20. One obvious problem is that if I looked at a mission with the description tag "SFMA", these letters mean nothing to me. Well, they could mean some stuff, but it'll all be guesswork. I keep trying to associate it with something about Science Fiction, possible due to the SFWA.

I'd probably get into the habit of tagging stuff "story", though. I know this is likely to get mixed up with the "non-story" search results, but it's clearer.

At this rate, I could get out of actually writing a description for the arc, and just have all 300 characters taken up by tags.

Missions where you have to defeat a boss.

Missions where you have to defeat everyone.

Missions where you have to find a particular object and click it/destroy it/protect it.

Missions where you have to find a guy, beat up some bad guys around him, and lead him back to the missions entrance.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Do not try to be over-the-top on the Internet.

There is no top to be over.
  22. I'm heavily biased towards "nothing above boss-rank unless absolutely necessary". As in "clear the decks for this one, season finale" type of enemy. Archvillains, meanwhile, are "call in every favour you have, this is The Big One, series finale" type of enemy.

I had a lot more things to say on the matter, but it'll seem like a huge rant anyway, so I'll just leave it at that.

    Arc Reviews

    [ QUOTE ]
If the definition of "just a bunch of stuff that happened" is really no moral, then I'd think that would describe the bulk of the game content. There are very few arcs that I can think of that take a moral stand on anything. "Smoke and Mirrors" would be one that does, and that's part of what makes the story so engrossing. The rest of the arcs though, even the really popular ones, seem to fall into the JABSTH category.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Technically it's "no moral or theme". And Venture has mentioned that he'd very much like to be able to rate (quite harshly) the official content as well.

I think it's mostly a question of "does all this activity tie together in any meaningful way, or are we just putting out fires?"

Personally the "just a bunch of stuff that happened" thing doesn't bug me as much, but it's Venture's thread, so he gets to impose his opinions.
  24. Is it an actual, physical device?

Then I'd only consider it if shipping is paid by the company.
