  1. Nice. Glad to see they kept Soul Drain over Build Up, to give it a different flavor. Will have to see what the numbers come out to be, on average, to see if I prefer it over B/U. Still, with Smite, Shadow Maul, Midnight Grasp and Dark Consumption, I know I'll be rolling one of these. Sounds like fun!

The data was released by the Devs just a few months ago. I don't think I'd call that under sampled. Even if we remove the 1-49 data from the equation and look specifically at L50 data, Blasters being the #3 played L50 AT in the game, after Scrappers and Controllers, tells me that they aren't nearly as bad as you claim them to be, nor are they as superfluous as the OP claims them to be. Now, if Blasters went from the #1 AT to #6 or lower, then you might be on to something. But to go from #1 to #3 isn't that bad.

Apparently sarcasm and humor is lost on you.

Truth is, yes, Blasters go from the number 1 played AT to the number 3 AT in one level and only for 1 level. Why do you think that is? Because they suddenly have a huge drop in performance in that one level? I find that very hard to believe. From my observation, the reason is quite simple. Blasters do not farm as well as Scrappers or Controllers.

Now, I will admit, I would love to see Blaster Tier 9s get a work over, or perhaps create an alternative Tier 9 that players can choose between. As much as I love Blizzard, the crash is killer, especially since I almost have Blizzard down to a 90s recharge.

I do like Arcana's comment above about Lightning Rod. If Elec Blast had that as their Tier 9, that would be awesome.

Going from the number one archetype in the game to number three is, obviously, a Massively Huge decline in the number of Blasters. Having eleven other archetypes with a lesser population at level 50 is completely irrelevant because we are talking about Blasters.

This is obviously every Blaster in the game when they go from L49 to L50, as played by Another_Fan.
  5. Doesn't Taunt still require a to-hit check against AVs? Or am I mis-remembering?
  6. Pretty much what Winterminal stated above.

I'll add in a little bit of advice with Carnies. Dark Ring Mistresses have a hold and debuff your chance to hit as well as debuff your endurance recovery. Even if you make it past the hold, make sure you have some yellows and blues and Aim is recharged. For Master Illusionists, use Inspirations and pray. MIs can be quite annoying primarily due to their summons. The one thing to remember is that all Illusionists, Master Illusionists and summoned Illusionists have a 5-7 rotation where they are phased for 5 seconds and then unphased for 7 seconds. Try to check the timing before you engage so you can have a mental timer on when not to use your big attacks.

As for Blasters in general, they can be one of the harder ATs to play post 40, as the game scales up quickly at that point. Carnies, Malta, Knives and Rularuu are all new enemy factions for that level range and they can be quite brutal, all in their own way. Still, there's a satisfaction you get with Blasters that you just don't get on the other ATs. Well, for me there is.
  7. Ice cream. My blaster is made of ice cream. Tasty, tasty ice cream.

    9.) Midnight Grasp

All the debuffs would be scaled back to Blaster level, and possibly scaled back from there a bit more. CoD would be similar to /Dev Cloaking Device (stat-wise). Dark Consumption would be similar to /Elec's version. Punch, Smite and Maul give you three solid melee attacks and Grasp is a good CC that can pair with other Holds available to Blasters. Tar Patch would be a useful bottleneck, allowing for an awesome Soul Drain.

This really depends on your playstyle and your build. The biggest issue for me was learning how to put some of those melee attacks into my attack chain, and leveraging the full capabilities of the powers in my secondary. This was easier to do with my Ice/Ice as the two sets really complimented eachother. The only reason I took my melee attacks out was to put my rains in and fully slot them instead.

My /Fire took a while to really get a feel for and I didn't really get it down until I ran a /Energy that focused almost exclusively on the melee attacks. It was a learning curve at the time and I got a number of people yelling at me, because Blasters were supposed to be ranged only. It was surprising how survivable a Blaster could be in melee, but you did have to be careful, mostly when dealing with AoE mezzers. I've got a DP/MM now that is going to be in melee quite often due to all of the PBAoEs.

That said, I do think it would be nice to see a secondary that focused a bit more on range instead of melee. Would be an interesting change of pace. I'd also like to see Martial Arts as a secondary so...

I have to disagree here. I enjoy most all of the secondaries, except Devices and that's because they just don't fit my play style. As a matter of fact, I would love to play a Manip/Manip AT.

Not directly, but look at how they pieced together MM. The same could be done for a number of other power sets, some easier than others of course. Dark, Rad, MA could be added fairly easily compared to creating something completely from scratch. (yes, yes, insert standard code rant )

    1.) Rularuu Pets. Beyond Awesome.
    2.) Storm Elemental Pets. Awesome.
3.) What was/is supposed to be between Cimeroran and Longbow?

Same way as they have been doing it, Powerset Proliferation.

Maybe because of the thousands of other potential teammates to choose from also having access to said powers? Being an MMO and all... Just sayin'.

It's obvious you've never suffered from a full-on migraine, the kind where you bang your head against the counter/door frame in hopes of knocking yourself out, where you contemplate riding it out or just simply ending it all. I've had a hole carved into my foot the size of a quarter down to the tendon, torn off two toes in a bicycle accident, hit by a 45mph moving car and had a 1/2" nail through my foot (yeah, bad luck on the foot, all the same foot too! lol). The migraine tops them all.

I get a migraine at least 3 times a year, with the maximum being 12 in one year. I now have tinnitus, meaning my migraine feeds off of the ringing making it worse and lasting much, much longer.

I would gladly step on a dull nail and have it pierce completely through my foot, every single day of the rest of my life, if it guaranteed I'd never have another migraine.

So, please, think before you spout of something half thought out. And then pray you never have to suffer a migraine.

I myself have not run into any issues, and did not with the old Sonic graphics either, but when I saw the Barrier effects during the Praetorean Invasion on Liberty I immediately thought of the old Sonic graphics and the issues that they caused. I was surprised to see something so similar.

I am grateful that I do not have any issues with the graphics because I do suffer from migraines (and tinnitus, great combo let me tell you). Nobody should have to go through a headache, or worse, a migraine, just because of a graphical effect.

I trust Paragon to get this fixed up quickly.

You should spend one day a week and embrace your inner Canadian self, and also cause mass confusion for your staff. It's fun.
  18. While I don't really have anything constructive to say with regards your character, I did want to chime in and say FFT was a fantastic SRPG and easily one of my favorites in the genre (up there with the original Tactics Orge and the hilarious Disgaea). On top of that, you play CoH.

You sir, have a very good taste in games.

Also, good luck with your character, it is a sound concept and seems as it would be fun.

From what it sounds like, you can be solo and just jump in the queue. However, if you are complaining that it takes a minimum of 8 players, then I suppose you are also against most TFs, SFs, and the CoT, Eden and Sewer Trials as well, yes?

Rewards based on how much you participated rather than on *if* you participated? Even worse for the more casual player who doesn't have the pimped out build to put up enough numbers. Or who, gods forbid, might need to go off at a moment's notice for 10 minutes to take care of their kid or some other real world issue.
Have you tested this? No? My guess is that it works just like any other teaming mechanic. However, I'll not know for sure until I get in and test this mechanic. Perhaps you should as well. This could be an issue if one team has 6 players and another team has 2 players. Again, we don't know until we test it. Jumping to random conclusions doesn't help anyone. If it did, then one would assume that WoW was a phenomenal game since millions of people play it. That would be a poor assumption.

In other words, you will need a specific team composition working with specific strategies to beat the Trials, contrary to earlier in the post.
Doubtful. Like anything 'new' it may take more than one attempt to 'get it right'. Many people failed their 1st Apex TF, but after learning what to do found it wasn't really that hard after all. The same could be said with the Eden and Sewer Trials, both of which were quite difficult when launched and are now extremely easy. I remember failing these trials because we ran out of time! Can you believe that!?

And likely no way to suppress them so that your mid-range computer doesn't slow to a crawl and to prevent griefing at the various spots that people tend to gather. Awesome.
Particle Effects, you can turn those down. I think you can also suppress powers from other players not on your team as well. Look under Options / Graphics and Audio.

Why should it take longer for those who solo or prefer small teams (for whatever reason)? They are already penalized too heavily with lesser rewards (Inf, XP, and drops) for more work as it is.
More people defeating more enemies quicker equals faster rewards for all (this has always been the case). On top of that, teams working together to surpass insurmountable odds equals greater reward upon completion (again, this has always been the case). This is nothing new and is how the game has operated since launch. Not sure why you would expect this to change now. /shrug
  20. Just an FYI, I have been having serious frame rate issues running a Dark Armor Tanker as of late. Really serious issues going from 30+ fps down to 1 frame ever 4-10 seconds to even one frame for an entire battle on a 6-man team. Getting frustrated, I swapped over to a Fire Armor Scrapper that has never had issues. Went up to a large group and basically locked the game.

I hopped out and started going through my system to see what may have changed. I did that stupid MS Security Essentials from one of the recent MS Updates. Uninstalled it (it kept turning itself on, go MS) and have absolutely zero frame rate issues now.

So, keep an eye out on this.

Wow in that example the corruptor got the exact same bonus as the higher Damage mod AT, but wait don't corruptors have something else happening ?? Why yes I think they do the get this thing called scourge that contributes extra damage to their damage. I think the number the forums use for it is an average 15% and that is of the total

So the effective bonus for the -res corruptor ~=12 extra points of damage as opposed to the blasters 10.7
So you used extra powers beforehand to reach the Blaster's damage? Then you added Scourge, assuming the enemy is low on health. If that is the case, do the same math and add Build Up to the Blaster an another 30% for Defiance. Thank you, come again.
  23. My first 50, Ice/Ice Blaster, is still my favorite character. I'll be surprised if the Devs can create a combo that I would enjoy more*. I also have a number of classic combos that I still enjoy, like an Ice/Ice Tanker, Elec/Nrg Blaster, Ice/Storm Controller and Bot/Trap MM. I have recently started up a few new characters to play around with, and so far I'm enjoying them as well: DP/MM Blaster, DA/DB Tanker and an Elec/Earth Dom.

I think that most all of the classic sets are still very solid, but the newer sets do show a more experienced design behind them. Even with the newer sets, there is still some life left in some of the classic sets due to power set proliferation. I also think that there's still a few new ATs that can be added in.

    * The only thing that I can think of that might trump my Ice/Ice Blaster would be the ability to create an Elec Manip/Ice Manip Blaster. And I don't see that becoming available any time soon.
