darn.. i meant to submit a character for this (or two)..
Sciuridae, you an exceptional artist and i hate to lose you from the CoX community. at least we can still catch you on DeviantArt!
and i can't wait to see what you do with Junkyard King!! -
HA!
that SO rocks man!
now that i'm back from vacation i'll have to get started on figuring out the second half of my combo.. for now i have to go and declare what the first half is, then i'll get to work figuring out who to pit him against. -
it balances out though.. you can't have something that deals amssive damage AND is an extreme heal, the points wouldn't allow for it. (although you could probably make a moderate/moderate one)
most people would want one that fits their character anyway.
i understand what your're saying and it makes sense, but i'd rather allow for the full choices across the board, just for fun.
don't forget.. someone else may have a Dmg/Heal power, but maybe you have a +Def/-Rez one to counteract it.
oh yeah, and..
/RESIGNED!!
Ps - congrats on the re-sticky Ultimus, well deserved! -
now that's just plain horrible!
i'm guessing someone reported your NSFW site and it was deleted by the ISP? if so, they may have back-ups of everything.
i never saw the site, but NObodies hard work and time should be cast off as simple as that.. especially if it's after only one complaint.
i know i wouldn't want to rebuild either, but at least you have everything else (such as DeviantArt) to look back on.
i'm very sorry to hear about this and hope you aren't completely disheartened.
who knows? maybe this will open the doors for a new toon? maybe a future version of Gamma Girl? maybe her daughter.. cousin.. imaginary friend..
point is, i'd hate to see someone disappear due to someone elses asinine self-righteousness. -
John, that's a GREAT Character Select screen!!
i love seeing the ones that look like your character is part of the scene.
(i'm off to grab some new screenies for my Heroes login/select screens!) -
ok, took a few minutes (Edit: ok, so maybe it was closer to an hour and a 1/2 once i got everything done) and whipped these up for now:
(villain screens)
i want to work on getting some better screens, although i do have a few others to thriow in the randomizer.. but, that'll be for another day. (i want to actually get in and play some CoX!)

too freakin' cool, Leandro!!
i haven't even downloaded it yet, but you can be certain i will be after i make this comment.
to everyone else, there are some AMAZING screenshots/artworks shown here and some very creative shots to boot.
such an awesome boost to the art community! -
bummer man.. now i'll have to hunt down the thread through my faves list instead of simply going to the front page of Suggestions.
i understand their position, but still.. it's a little late to give that reason, isn't it? plus, WE want to give that impression.. if only to ourselves! lol
maybe they should come in and comment on the idea sometime.. at least to let us know one way or the other "this idea will never happen" or "keep posting.. you never know, it might".
still an incredibly awesome idea, Ultimus..
and still
/SIGNED!! -
i was just wondering if there are any plans to use players as guest DJs in Pocket D ever?
with a growing list of those who do this sort of thing, it would be even more immersive and a bit of a plug for each service if they were used for events of some sort.
beyond that.. i'm glad to see a resource pool being pulled together! -
i hate to say it, but a lot of people have been putting ideas into their SigPows that just wouldn't happen. now, don't get me wrong.. i love seeing the creativity of it all, it's just that i think people may be thinking they can create ANYthing they wish.
fact of the matter is.. while the initial idea allows for a wide array of looks/anims/etc for a power.. it only allows for using what's currently available in the code.
so, while "my hero will call to the heavens and a rain of cats and dogs falls on his enemies in an AoE/DoT/Confuse combo" sounds like a power someone, somewhere would want.. it's not doable because we don't have a "raining cats and dogs" code in the database.
i'm truly not trying to shoot down anybody's ideas.. just giving a heads up that if this actually happens, you will (most likely) be picking from a set of what's available already.. hopefully ALL of what's available! -
Tife,
from what i gather, this would be in addition to existing powers.. as a matter of fact, it would probably end up in a Power Pool labeled "Signature" or something similar.
especially due to people wanting the ability to either have one Uber-power or a few lesser ones (all depends on how points are spent). -
while it's true that there are a plethora of sex shops in SL, that's not the worst of it.. many of the clubs in SL are poorly designed/scripted and can really drive up the lag.
on the other hand, there are also some amazing clothing designers, vehicle designers, avatar designers, furniture, animation overrides and customs, sculpturists, traditional artists, and so on..
really, if you want to find the "good" stuff.. two things can be of help. forums/Google and (the in-world) Search. using these tools to explore what truly impressive builds/content exists can help you to avoid haphazard exploring that leads to sex shops and laggy clubs/malls.
where a lot of the features shine is on "private islands".. entire "sims" owned by residents.. some continents have even sprung up due to this feature.
for instance, here's a review of Svarga. an incredible experimental island, to say the least.
i do have to concede that SL has a rather steep learning curve and will need to simplify some stuff in order for it to really grow as large as it could. (the good part is, Linden Lab is continuously trying to improve what we already have.. and trust me, they've done TONS of feature integrating since i first started about 3 1/2 years ago!)
but really, as was mentioned originally.. WAAAY off topic. so i'll just stop there. (for now) -
i wasn't able to get the vid to work.. but it appears to be something about Starry Night. Robbie Dingo has to be one of the more talented builders/machinma-ists(?) in SL.. for example, here's a vid of him building a guitar for Suzanne Vega (for when she held a concert in SL).
also, another way i've described SL is, "a parallel universe that exists on a digital plane", of course, it helps to add this part, "where (almost) everything is created by it's residents".
(then again, you always have to add in the in-world 3D building tools, the in-world scripting language, flexi-prims, sculpty prims, terraforming, private islands and RAW files, custom animations.. and so on and so on)
ok, sorry.. went off a bit on SL there. (but it's good to see a few others from there around the forums here!)
but on a CoX related note, has anyone noticed how the world of CoX seems to use extremely similar building tools? it would extremely easy to make buildings that look exactly like CoX buildings.
many times when i wonder about what can be done in CoX, i think about how easy it could be done in SL. granted there are different limitations.. even the way serveres are set up alone is much different. easier to have large amounts of [customers] on one server here where the world is static/baked, then in SL where everything is dynamic in nature.
but, before i get going along to far on this subject..
yes, the builds in SL can me rather amazing. i remember when someone else had made a replica of "The Scream" painting.. missing the "screamer", but had an animation you could pick up so you would pose like that.. and then you could take a pic of yourself (or rather, your avatar) actually in that scene! very cool stuff indeed.. -
it all depends on whose set-up you go buy.. i believe the original set of rules would allow for it, but one of the two newer ones may not.. not sure on that one.
personally.. i say it should be allowed. like has been said before, these are supposed to be signature powers.. that one defining move that says "this is the power i possess in all it's glory". -
wow.. you know, if the Devs ddecide to actually implement this, they won't have much to figure out themselves. between Ultimus' explanation and the recent two lposts about how it could work.. half the work is already done! (well, they might need to tweak things here and there, but you get the idea)
i wonder if adding in another 5 points as a Vet reward would be groovy? that way everyone gets to have their own uber-Signature Power/s, but those who have been here a looong time get a little extra boost to theirs.
what say you?
oh.. and i know i've "/signed" this a few times already, but what the heck..
/signed
again. -
great thread.. there's an endless supply of possible "perfect shots" out there and it's fun to see a few of them here. (although, it makes me want to start a thread for "perfect set-up shots") anyhoo.. here we go:
the required "dinging 50" shot
apparently the Malta have a weird crotch fetish - OUCH!
not as exciting, but my villain, Dr. Sodom looking crazed and dangerous
defeating blow to Hami (test server for I10) - that's me silhouetted against Hami
NetherShift being rather unphased whilst pumpkins are flying at his head
a dying spectre (forget exactly what he was)
and last, but nowhere near least, my favorite "perfectly timed shot":
a Carnie's spirit just after "dying" -
while it may not be an oft used power.. one justification would be the potential for bringing in new customers/players.
some people who are on the fence on whether they should buy into CoX might be that much more swayed towards joining us if they see they get the opportunity to make their own unique Signature Power.
more money coming in would help justify it..
so would the fact that it would be more content for the second half of levels, especially for all the 50s already out there.
which would also encourage people to play past the lower levels instead of just creating a character, hitting the 20s - 30s and then starting another.
and the best reason of all.. it would rock that hard! -
Empress is right.. the video REALLY puts it into perspective. for some reason i didn't think about you having done that right from scratch and all by hand.. i thought there were some shortcuts somewhere, but nope..
...apparently you just rock that hard. -
wow.
just simply amazing work.. inspirational, too! makes me want to go draw up one of my baddies.
i think i'll actually try it out soon..
but your work hee, incredible stuff!
hope to see more! -
you can specialize.. that's the whole point, making whatever you want.
possibly just one major power, or a couple less-powerful ones.
you want to specialize with a hold? sure thing.. dump all your points into a hold power, add a DoT while you're at it.. and maybe a touch of fear? of course, you might want to dump a couple points into accuracy and/or end reduction.. but you get the idea.
oh.. and..

..again! -
Juggertha.. GREAT start! overall anyway..
the only thing i had an issue with was the "BAH!" in the last panel. it distracts from the storyline.. unless the one who answered his original call was someone named "Bah".
i'm guessing it's just a battlecry type of thing, it just seems a bit out of place in the line-of-story that exists.
other than that, the look is awesome and the storyline is already engaging. i'm looking forward tot he next installment as well.
i've seen the phenomenon of Juggertha round these parts for awhile, so it's cool to see a comic being made for him by his creator! good luck with the rest.. i'm sure an undertaking like this is daunting t say the least.. but with that start, how could it go wrong?
i believe it can't. -
well.. i saw that you needed more for 3 & 5, so i went ahead and made one for Song 3. granted, my original vision that went with the song was a gothic-type character with flowing robes and a brooding presence.. but since we don't have flowing robes, i went in a different direction.
so, submitted for your perusal:
Mr. Shivers (character select screen)
Mr. Shivers (in-game shot)
he's a - Corruptor (Dark/Cold) - Victory server
i'll wait for more submissions before casting my vote/s. -
WOW! that's awesome looking.. along with the others, i can't wait to see the finished product.
(then you could always use the data from it to make a model, yes?) -
8Baller - this was an interesting and fun read.. it lwft me wanting to see what happens next! sounds like a story-arc worth several issues of content.
Not a Hero - i saw the one judges comment about the repitiion of "Not a.." and it's true.. even though it did come together in the end.. maybe a few less "Not a.." comments would have made the difference in that. BUT.. i actually laughed out loud while reading Page 6.. "Klaatu Barata.. NikKLUH". great reference!
Strength - great visual style, although the ending felt a little sudden.. like it should have had on more page or so. still.. a good read!
so, congrats to you three on some well deserved accolades (do you get a badge for this? hehe..). it seems that you guys' comics are inspirational to a few others out there.. and rightfully so! it even tampts me to attempt one if there's another contast.. or even just for fun maybe.
i saw a few others that had their own reasons for being an enjoyable comic and will look forward to seeing who gets the honorable mentions.
and ill agree with the others who have mentioned what a great concept this was and how fitting of a contest for CoX it was/is. i would hope to see this become a regular occurrence.. perhaps 2 times a year? it's a great way to tie together the community with the game! -
right on..
i'll be back to join the SG once i prove my mettle. arghy argh argh.
but seriously.. i have wanted to have at least one of my characters drawn, but always figured i should draw some other peoples characters first. you know.. i didn't want to look like i was dropping in for a free ride or anything.
i greatly respct the artistic community here and will be sure to become a legitimate member of it before making a character to join the SG.. i only have one on there at the moment and his name is Nefertum. a cat-guy.. (claws/regen.. surprise! lol)
i'll have to post a pic of him sometime.
thanks for the info.. you guys rock.
