Quote:If it makes you feel better, I believe the orange hand cursor is a clue.If they don't figure out a way to repatch for our current video cards, we're ****ed in a need-to-get-a-whole-nother-new-computer kind of way.
During early Mac beta the cursors had reversed RGB, and there were also issues with the mouse cursor jumping around.
At one point, both the cursor color and the cursor reliability issues were fixed, but then they both came back with this latest build. My guess is they switched code branches and ended up with some older code. At least I hope so, because that's easier to fix. -
The f.lux product likely won't work with CoH since Cider uses its own built-in colorsync profile.

By the way, what's the last few lines in the Console log before iPatcher freezes?
Console log is in Applications > Utilities > Console - you can copy/paste the last few lines here. -
Support will have better luck figuring out your problem based on specific info you send them (they'll tell you what to send) - but first, try to be patient, the iPatcher takes a while to unpack the files.
Also, if you're using Tiger (10.4.x) or pre-10.5.7 Leopard you may encounter that problem and be unable to complete installation. -
Found these bugs on a quick run-through:
- While a banner is spawning critters, you can't cross it's border, even while flying...at all. You have to back up and go around. This can be particularly annoying if you're flying above it.
- Unlike the Rikti and Zombie events, the event-spawned critters cause FULL zone debt upon your defeat.
- Critters don't de-spawn if someone attacks a banner and leaves the mob behind. This can lead to griefing (tank taunting until the mob grows huge, and then leaving quickly), and also probably causes zone instability as seen on the Training Room.
- Aside from killing mobs at the banner, there's no other obvious objective if you happen to stumble upon it.
- Attacking a banner's mobs solo sometimes seems to cause the mob difficulty to increase until eventually you're fighting multiple bosses at once.
- Zone "hiccups" when banners spawn or de-spawn, causing a visual glitch. -
Quote:The 950 isn't *officially* supported because it has texture problems due to incomplete OpenGL implementation (that's why you see broken/missing textures). BUT, the mouse bug isn't related to that, so once it's fixed for the GMA 3100 it should work correctly on the 950 as well.Let's not forget those of us with the GMA 950!
We wanna play too!
If you send a petition and you have a 950 it'll tell Support how widespread the problem is but you'll probably get a blowoff response.
Btw, as an aside: Whenever the next Mac client comes along it'll probably be on the Training Room first for a while. It would be very helpful if a few Intel GMA users volunteer to test it before it publishes to live. -
I did say to ignore Support's response.
Fyi, the Intel GMA 950 isn't officially supported, but because it has issues with broken textures due to an incomplete OpenGL implementation. The mouse bug is entirely separate, and affects the GMA 3100 as well, which is supported. -
EVERYONE who is currently having mouse click trouble and has an Intel GMA 3100 please send a petition to Support. Ignore their response - that's not why you're sending it. While this matter is being investigated, QA will likely need as much individual data as possible.

I'm fairly certain it'll be temporary.
And yes, there seems to be an improvement both in the shaders and in the overall visual range (you can see farther in some zones!). It's much more spectacular on the nVidia 8600/9400/9600. -
The problem is specifically with the Intel GMA 950 and 3100.
-
That's a very old bug with the costume creator, it's not Mac related. The devs likely know it exists and haven't managed to fix it yet.
-
Don't be sad yet, your tests are going to be useful.

Quote:Try rotating to the left or right slowly (using Q or E) while you click. It doesn't really fix the problem, but it makes clicking more manageable.edit: I spent 6 full minutes of clicking till I finally managed to level up - I feel happy, yet so sad
Also, I'd like someone with the Intel GMA to experiment with setting their game to 800x600 or 1024x768 and switching to windowed mode (to avoid stretching), since that's a standard "square" resolution. Since most Macs and monitors are widescreen these days, I suspect the aspect ratio correction interacting with the mouse location may be the problem.
I could probably test that but I have to borrow the Mac Mini I tried yesterday and I don't have access to it right now.
As an off-topic aside: The devs haven't really seen the flood of posts on this issue yet, as they're on Pacific time. Once they do, they'll probably have to meet with each other first and discuss what to tell us players so they're not all posting at once saying different and confusing things. Then they talk to QA and see if they can duplicate the issue and formulate a workaround (which is far more useful than a "we know the problem exists"). After all of that we'll hear from them somehow.
P.S. Aspect ratio is the difference between the height and width of the screen, and is used to keep objects on-screen from stretching out of proportion. If the mouse is obeying a different aspect ratio than the video, you'd have it shift wildly every time a selectable object switches orientation, similar to what it does now. -
Quote:If your Mac has Intel GMA video you're going to have problems clicking things until a fix comes along.2. From what I have gathered....upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard doesn't really solve much......is this true? Granted I have Tiger....but still.....
Macs with nVidia video work great. I had it tested with an nVidia 8600, 9400, and 9600 so far.
All except the nVidia 8600 were using Snow Leopard (the 8600 was using Leopard 10.5.8). -

Quote:Yes, with the keyboard. I tried CoH for Mac on a Mac Mini with Intel GMA video, and Snow Leopard installed, and experienced the mouse bug.Huh what do you mean turn around? like rotate when trying to click or actually move left and right?
(with the keyboard right?)
I discovered that if your character is rotating, the mouse jump bug will occur, but in the opposite direction you're rotating. Because the camera is moving the opposite way, you don't notice the jump quite as much, and it increases click accuracy. It's a little weird and difficult to get used to, but it works.
I don't yet know if adjusting Tracking Speed or something similar for the mouse will help. -
I have verified that the mouse cursor jumping issue occurs on all Macs using Intel GMA video. It's not related to Leopard or Snow Leopard.
The problem appears to be related to the CoH client thinking targetable items are in a different place than where they appear on screen.
Temporary workaround: Turn your character to the left of right while clicking. It's annoying, but it works. -
Are all of you with problems using a Macbook with Leopard and the Intel GMA video?
Any of you using Snow Leopard with a Macbook and the Intel GMA video? -
Which Mac and version of MacOS are all of you with mouse trouble using?
