Mice and trouble - a plea to the devs

Hi

I hope I can get to the devs with this medium - as imo that is not certain.
Anyway - as you may have noted alot of macusers have a mousebug

-The mouse will jump to another location whenever it's on a border of a box that can be enlarged, made smaller, whenever you're on the map, whenever you try to select a target.-

Now I know this might not be an easily fixable situation - but I kindly ask to let something hear from you, as it looks rather dim to me at the moment.
Lots of mac users (CuppaManga has found out most of them with an intel GMA card) have this given issue and even a "yes we're aware if the issue and working on it" would do for me. So I/we atleast know you're trying to find a solution, or maybe workarounds to make the game playable again.

ps.: I'd also like to thank CuppaManga for his time and dedication to help macusers - his threads have been helpful in numerous cases.

I second this dev request/cuppamanga shoutout.

I put in an ingame petition and pmed one of the red names that posted in this mac forums for a response, but got nuttin' so far. Could you please respond to us and let us know you are at lease aware of the problem and are working on it?

The game is not worth playing as is. This issue needs to be officially addressed.

cuppamanga u rock. I go now to make a tribute song to you in the triumph forums.

basically, if you see a miki on Triumph, it's probably cute and it's probably me.

Huge thanks to cuppamanga and all the folks in the mac help forum for prolonging my borrowed time on this game.

I just came back from a long hiatus (9-10 months or so) and since I now have a mac and had a bit more time on my hands I signed back up for CoX thinking this was a good, comfortable fit for a little relaxation in my spare time. However this mouse bug does anything but relax me and without some indication that there is an end in sight I am scared i might just walk away again.

Just my 2 cents from my perspective.

well it didn't have those troubles yesterday - I think there's an end I just hope I can bring this to a dev's attention for a (hopefully) faster resolve. As making this game unplayable whilst paying for it is hell

Just done 2 TF's, they're playable I mean with minor setbacks (did most of the work on my keyboard now) but now that I leveled up I'm not so comfortable anymore...

edit: I spent 6 full minutes of clicking till I finally managed to level up - I feel happy, yet so sad

Pretty much my position (except my hiatus was 21 months); the game is nigh-unplayable for someone as impatient as me >.<

I'm kind of assuming there will be a fix in a day or two (surely), but if not it would certainly end my subscription again

Try rotating to the left or right slowly (using Q or E) while you click. It doesn't really fix the problem, but it makes clicking more manageable.

Also, I'd like someone with the Intel GMA to experiment with setting their game to 800x600 or 1024x768 and switching to windowed mode (to avoid stretching), since that's a standard "square" resolution. Since most Macs and monitors are widescreen these days, I suspect the aspect ratio correction interacting with the mouse location may be the problem.

I could probably test that but I have to borrow the Mac Mini I tried yesterday and I don't have access to it right now.

As an off-topic aside: The devs haven't really seen the flood of posts on this issue yet, as they're on Pacific time. Once they do, they'll probably have to meet with each other first and discuss what to tell us players so they're not all posting at once saying different and confusing things. Then they talk to QA and see if they can duplicate the issue and formulate a workaround (which is far more useful than a "we know the problem exists"). After all of that we'll hear from them somehow.

P.S. Aspect ratio is the difference between the height and width of the screen, and is used to keep objects on-screen from stretching out of proportion. If the mouse is obeying a different aspect ratio than the video, you'd have it shift wildly every time a selectable object switches orientation, similar to what it does now.

I got asked to send my systemprofile of mac this morning - there is hope!

& At cuppa: I did the 1024 one, doing 800x600 right now to see if it changes.
update: no success

Ok this is getting ridiculous -

I got a reply back from NCSoft stating my system requirements do not meet their requirements.

My system requirements -apart from the videocard- meet all the recommended requirements, my video card meets the minimum requirement.

Also if it would not meet the requirements why did this bug started after an update of theirs & which they "Addressed a (Macintosh) memory leak related to Mouse movement.".

I know this is a rantish post, but I'd rather get support instead of generated answers (had a problem with guild wars once before aswell, I got over 7 bot replies before getting a real reply)

Update: I've written NCSoft a(n) (angry) email and I've got a plausible response so far,

"Thank you for the update on this once again.

I am escalating your ticket for further assistance. Once your ticket has been reviewed someone will be in contact with you as soon as possible.

Regards,
Carlos
NCsoft Technical Support"

Maybe I get real support ? xD

Update:
I've found a semi-acceptable work around for talking to npcs etc
whilst doing quests in RWZ I found it annoying that I couldn't ask available mishes so I toyed a bit.
I you left click & drag your mouse close to the text - without reaching the point where your mouse resets -
and then rightclick, the next time your mouse will reset is there. With some time you can actually let it reset ON the text but it takes too much effort. But if you just set it to reset close to the text, you'll have an easier time checking for mishes, lvling up etc. Every time you open a conversation you have to do this again though, but it makes mishes acceptable now.

p.s. once you've asked for available mishes, just click the mission description you get with the text - beats clicking accept in the text & works aswell.

p.s. 2 I read the thread "orange hands are back" and actually it set me thinking, before the update I had that blue hand to drag stuff. After the patch the troubles kicked in and the hands changed to orange. Is there a chance there's a connection?

Hope this helps you people a bit

Yup & i'm on the 3100, then again - I've had a bad experience with ncsoft support before - but once I managed to push through I usually got some nice help. So that's why I didn't ignore their response (had once a big guild hall related issue in guild wars, took us well over 10 mails to get a human that fixed it in 10 mins )
