(Not a he) It was definitely not 500 mil or close, I bought it over the course of 4-6 weeks (excepting a few pieces that took about 2 months to get due to rarity), had quite a few as drops, used some merits, etc. The HOs I generally got for 3-5 mil each (I do NOT know why, they were in a slump, I was the only bidder for the Enzymes). This was shortly after merits came out, after all, so quite a while ago. I didn't have much cash on hand ever, then. At MOST I paid 200 mil including salvage & crafting fees. I wasn't using my stoney at all then so I didn't mind taking forever. I have extreme market patience on characters I don't feel like playing!
I'd definitely recommend others to adapt 'build tactics' that mine shows to go toward their own needs. I liked lots of +Dam for granite mode, but didn't want to instantly die when facing mixed-with-Psi damage, or soloing without being so slowed sometimes, without exemping. So...it's by no means ideal. I am sure Stone Melee can do well or better on the front of getting better set bonuses. Like the Enzymes are a good shenanigan, you might do better with Kinetic Combats, etc.
And yeah, if I was building a team and got a stoner without Granite Armor, or who said they did not use it, I would be ready to kick them, after giving them a little shot. I don't pick up tankers for damage on teams. And non-Granite tankers just CAN'T get aggro like Granite can simply due to the resistances on top of the defenses. My Granite there, I practically slept through tanking in an MSTF, the empath that was to help me handle Lord Recluse ended up going back to the team, etc. I can't see a not-Granite ever being able to do that, or getting to be the main tank on one at least. It is true: it makes me think that you don't know what the powers do, or you're more focused on theme rather than ability (fine for solo, fine for special theme teams, not for random teams). Bad in situations where ability is highly important. -
Very clearly a bug: happened, undocumented, right after an issue release or major patch. Doesn't happen in COV or didn't last I checked. Plus it's been like this for, what, a year, year and a half now? ANd it's War_Witch's thing, right? I can only guess it broke and she doesn't want to rewrite all the dialogue so leaves it so.
-
Yep, that happens...can't do anything about it on our end. Even /stuck didn't get me out of that spot. I bugged it a few months ago when I got it. I...don't expect it to ever be fixed though honestly, it's pretty low-key.
-
Well I don't know about now with all the tickets flyin' around. I did up my guy with merits/money from throwing merit stuff on the market. It was PROBABLY 70-100 mil when I ran it up, taking several weeks to get all my bids accepted & stuff. (Note: I don't run uniques as I don't find them cost effective.) And so much depends on what level you get your set bonuses at. I don't exemp my Stoner, in fact I basically never am out of Granite anyway except v. Psi because it is my 2nd favorite power in the game (1st: White Dwarf), so I got high level ones that are more easy to find than lower level ones like around 35.

My current Stone/Fire tanker, for example: 42% def(SLENP, the important stuff) without Granite up.

Set bonuses. You can easily softcap yourself by 47 with HOs and set bonuses. You won't have the RESISTANCE, but you'll at least be defensive and have some +regen/+HP/heal stuff.
When you get ON the team, just tell them you deal lots more damage, but in turn they MIGHT actually have to buff you sometimes. -
Well...for 3 of the 9 powers, that is true...not sure if 33% really counts as sort of fisticuffy though.
-
Vahzilok Zombie AI from my own testing seems to be:
-If a human is in the spawn and alive, have normal aggro properties
-If a human is in the spawn and dead, lose aggro and go to no-human aggro
-If a human is not in the spawn, have very low aggro, approximately 5 feet?
-If a zombie is within this aggro range of one being attacked, will also attack
-Zombies move so slowly they lose aggro after a short DISTANCE although not time precisely -
Additional note about the Help Channel: the game is stupidly, stupidly broken and has been for many patches now. They changed the command /h message from sending a message to the help channel, to simply giving an error as now /h brings up the help menu. /hc message is now required to talk to the help channel as indicated above. However, the in-game utilities for typing in a channel, such as where it says "Help:" before your message in the UI by being in Active Tab mode (click the tiny A above your chat box) which makes the game send messages to the default chatting channel in the highlighted chat tab, still uses /h, not /hc. So you must manually type it.
It is so lovely that such a stupid, stupid bug is present to hinder trial accounts. It does not make people look favorably on a game with such a simple but damaging-for-trials bug persisting for a few months, through many patches.
You can also talk in local chat, which puts out your message to those surrounding you in a given smallish radius, by typing /L before your message, or choosing Local: on the dropdown that gives you Help: and Broadcast: etc. Use Local if you join a team or need to talk to a specific person; Help broadcasts your message to everybody on the entire server. -
Castle already posted that not all enemies obey this 'rule.' The Portal Corp scientists certainly do not. You can easily end up with 3-4 overlapping Dispersion Bubbles from one spawn.

http://www.cohplanner.com/ -- Mids Hero Designer is the closest to up-to-date now (lacks the new PVP IOs, maybe some power changes I can't recall, and the latest 5-year vet reward capability) that is what everyone uses now.

Thanks a bunch folks, I will see if I can dump the scheduled task then, if it becomes a notable issue on the lappy. And M_Mage, glad to hear the machine can handle the graphics better than I set them at, I might increase the view distance then to where I like it. The laptop is pretty excellent so far! Pales to my desktop, but since I'll be on the road more from here on out...awesome.

I actually did try to remove the google updater from the autostart stuff. Didn't work I guess. Maybe it's 'cause of Chrome being up? Ditto Welcome Center, how would I make that not appear? (It doesn't show up when I start up the computer, anyway, in any visible form)

You look good!
Got a nice graphics card.
You have 4gb's of RAM.
Nothing really that I see.

Why thank you I've been working o...oh.
If nothing is popping up, great. Any suggestions as to upping/lowering quality levels of COH? I run a little Spire PacificBreeze to get some cool air underneath it when gaming so maybe I'm not as at risk of overheating, but I'm still nervous about that stuff. I haven't run a laptop really at all in like 10 years, and that was a 'work laptop' regardless, so I am very cautious about them but still enjoy having pretties in my games. -
...Chott's builder? Seriously? The one that is like 3 years out of date?
-
Hm, I was on Protector too and couldn't get teh AE stuff up...didn't realize it was not just me downloading stuff in the background. Thank you for the update at least that it is happening.

Got a laptop, been putting stuff on it. I am NOT having any issues. Just wanted to get any quick problems fixed before they BECAME noticeable problems. So I have a few scans done...any recommendations would be appreciated. Assume my hard drive will be fuller (not by any huge amount though), as I have a few other games to put on. Assume Steam would NOT be running. I tried getting rid of all the autorun processes that were not needed, but I may have missed some: computer came from Best Buy & Gateway so it was a bit full of crap. If something is pretty important I may need to be told in a bit of detail/linked to detail on how to remove it. Attached is COHHelper and HijackThis. DxDiag is in the next post down.

Castle, Starsman explained what I did, yeah. People can do what they like: they can assume an enemy is toggled...naked of toggles...the hover-over notes on specific cells will also note when an enemy contains an effects-others power like Fortitude, and what it does. If an enemy has MULTIPLE effects, well they're all in the same note box. The notes only consider the cell in question, like Ranged Defense or Hold Resistance or Lethal Resistance. As well as any issues of mez resistance like holds lasting half as long as normal. Pretty simple! I didn't want to overclutter it with extra entries, plus I really suck at spreadsheet things involving anything more complicated than formulas of +-*/ stuff. SO notes and "do it in your own head with what you think is appropriate" are my tactics.

Latest Update: May 21, 2009
The Download: http://www.culex.us/ig/coh/CHres.xls

-The "Instructions" sheet has been revamped to make it more readable with better text.
-The "Damage Resistance" sheet now contains the "Average Damage" sheet's data, with sorting capability.
-The sorting capability now includes level-ranges in increments of 10, along with the actual levels the enemies are found in.
Factions Added:

Data Updated:
-<Donations> Donated School Books
-<Hydra> Tentacle -
Okay, there you guys go, updated spreadsheet with level range limiters in groups of 10. Should be sufficient enough.
(And also I'm a chick) -
[ QUOTE ]
how time consuming that would be.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is taking A LOT and will not be completely complete for next update. People have asked for this for a long time so finally I have been working on doing it. -
I had an SGmate on Heroic, solo, try my arc. NO customs, only Devouring Earth enemies. Somehow they all spawned +7 to him. No idea how that happened, unless it was due to the DE minions being random, but having a more level-limited DE EB inside? He had to run it on his natural 50 to get it to spawn right.
Regardless it is whack, yo -
[ QUOTE ]
Gone now does not mean gone for good. Critters have been taken out of the MA before and returned (though some of them walked a little funny afterward).
[/ QUOTE ]
Which critters? I've asked a few folks I know who were in closed beta and they didn't know of any that had been removed AND returned.
