From where I'm from, guys dont pretend to play girls. Obviously from where you're from, they do. I'm sorry you have to live around those types of "boys"...I really am.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmmm. remind me not to invite you to a party at my place. My female friends who were born as boys may decide to hurt you lots..... or make out with you, whichever scares you most -
[ QUOTE ]
This reminds me of a story I heard someone tell me about in Everquest:
A girl in the guild was friends with everyone. She was a bit of a drama queen and a flirt. When she had an issue with her boyfriend she would confide in guild mates and such. Talk about her life as anyone casually does in a guild to those they are friends with. One day she decided to quit and told everybody they had a confession before they cancelled their sub, that they were actually a guy and they didn't feel right leaving without making it known who they really were. Needless to say, all the guys she had flirted with in the guild felt rather disgusted...
Roleplaying is one thing, passing yourself off as something you're not with the intent of deception is wrong imo.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, that's not cool. I had a friend who did that in EQ or an early MMO. He used to get gifted tons of stuff, he even had his GF do vent for him when needed.
Needless to say it didn't impress me at all.
If you RPing a toon thats one thing, but lying in person aint right -

Heh, i wonder if he developed a netcrush on these guys RPing as gals. Finding out the were not actually girls may have bruised his delicate little ego.
I wonder if cyber was involved

I on;y cyber my girlfriend over the internets. Then get to goto bed with her later in the evening. No need for anything extra here bud.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well you do seem to have a pretty emotional response to this. It seems to have riled you up a bit.
Im just saying the problem might not be with RPers, but with your ideas about gender and sexuality. It sounds like just the idea of guys playing gals weirds you out thats all.

They were males pretending to be females. Not the other way around. I really doubt too many females pretend to be males while RPing, but since I'm not a RPer, I could be way off base in my assumption.
My guess is there are A LOT of guys running around pretending to be female. Those are the people I wonder about.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have male toons and female toons, so does my partner. In fact one of her favorite toons for light RP is an AR/DEv blaster called Corporal Numpty, a hard nosed cigar smoking military guy. In missions she speaks in bad movie cliches, its fun and doesnt hurt anyone. It gets more thana few lols from teammates.
If anyone asks us who we are IRL we dont lie though.
Screenshot of our military toons from the city scoop a while back in my article on military uniforms. And yes, my toons the gal.

I do some light RP in character, nothing as complex as some who hang out in pocket D talking about their characters life stories all night.
But for me Light RP is saying stuff in character every now and then. For example, My Villain the Communist Threat always refers to our enemies on teams as "Capitalist dogs". Light RP can be fun, and i've never got a bad reaction from saying something in character.
Basically, for me its another way to have fun in the game -

Not for PvP. You'll still get bounced around some even with 3 KB IOs and Acro.

My bad, missed the "For PVP" bit. -

DPA is more important than DPS to me
[/ QUOTE ]
When soloing AVs (which is kinda what this thread is about), DPA means in and around nothing. DPS and DPE are what you're looking for there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not really, activation time is the limiter in what you can chain together not recharge. Can you NB an AV to death? If so a screencap or two would make me change my POV. -
[ QUOTE ]
Wow, someone said the "H" word and the thread has not yet erupted into a series of mindless rants. There have only been a couple so far. Color me impressed.

Actually, a common question asked in the forums is
"Whats the best controller for control purposes" or words to that effect.
The usual answer is Earth/Trick arrow
Earth control is a good set, and when im playing my Earth/TA i tend to make comments like
"You know what I love about earth control....... its subtle, really realy subtle" *Sounds of booming earthquakes drowning out my voice.* -
Scared of a wee bit of knockback?
3 KB IO's and Acrobatics is overkill for a corrupter, imho -
[ QUOTE ]
Really, the only thing Rad Blast has against other sets in respects to single target attach chains is that Rad Blast's is far lighter on endurance. Indeed, if necessary, you could simply cut the chain down to just Neutrino Bolt, still put out respectable DPS, and use very little endurance. So little, in fact, that you can run a few toggles and still gain endurance while doing that.
So, as far as soloing AVs goes, it's at least useful in that regard. If you don't have endurance problems, however, then just go for something more powerful.
[/ QUOTE ]
Using neutrino bolt as your only attack would not be a good plan.
*Plink plink plink*
target feels kinda warm
*plink plink plink*
Target gets sleepy and has a nap while you try to kill them
*200 plinks later*
Woot, 1 kill!
I think our ideas of respectable damage are way off. DPA is more important than DPS to me, and Cosmic burst has a DPA of about 44/sec and NB has 25/sec. Oh and CB has a stun as well to keep you alive.
heck Irradiate has a better DPA than NB and its an AOE attack.
Also, rad blast is ripe for proc slotting as well. -
[ QUOTE ]
Can they? I'm thinking of rolling up a Corruptor for PvP, and was curious on what build to go with. I've heard that Rad blast is great when you put a bunch of procs in it, but was wondering how it would stack up to the damage of Fire or Sonic (the other two contenders for my build). If the procs don't Scourge, I'd imagine this would affect its killing ability.
[/ QUOTE ]
There are two key procs for Rad blast that are available that can slot into most rad blast powers
Lady grey chance for negative damage

Check the guide in my sig for advice on rad blast and procs -

I am
And I do
PS. Also, i think every villain in the Rogue Islands would show up at your place, you might be able to take Lord recluse. But 1000 villains at once might be tricky -
So I went from 1.1 Billion infamy on my main toon to 22 million in just under a month.
My main is now fully kitted out though, 27 purple enhancements and every power has a good set in it, heck sprint even has a +stealth proc.
It feels good to finally "Pimp out" my main, but not having my massive nest egg is a bit weird.
So a question to you market peoples, whats the most influence you have spent in a short time. Seems like mine is about 1.5 billion in 3 weeks. -

I thought that was the purpose of the Darwin Awards.
[/ QUOTE ]
The purpose of a Darwin Award is to honor someone who got killed because of natural selection. It's commonly misinterpreted to mean something it isn't. Natural selection says that favorable traits are passed on. Stupidity is not a favorable trait, and if you're so stupid you got killed, you got Darwin'd.
[/ QUOTE ]
I feel all good now knowing I have a toon called "Natural Selection" -
Anyone else find it odd that in a three page thread their are 4 people with a post count of 1 posting and agreeing with the OP?

And yet Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Cyclops, Flash, etc have proven themselves time and time again capable without the use of a secondary power. Granted I could just use a secondary, ignore it, and then move on with my life, but I still dont think it answers the question as to why. Perhaps this argument is fruitless.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just pick a secondary that matches your primary, silly.
Fire/Fire Blaster would work. Ice/Ice Corrupter or defender would work. Electric/Electric Brute would work. Dark.Dark Scrapper or Stalker would work. Shield/War Mace Tanker would work.
Etc etc.
The devs have made secondaries that line up with our primaries for this very reason. So that you can make a character who has one power, or a character with two or more types of abilites.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is what I was thinking. My fire/fire blaster has one power..... fire blasting!
Same with my dark/dark defender, he manipulates negative energy. -

Part of an AE Arc? Probably fine. Youre going to make a character to play? Probably not.

I asked a GM this question when I made a toon like this
As long as you don't say you work for NCSoft its all cool. but a note in your bio saying "Im not an NCSoft employee" might be a good idea. -

And if you get tired of your current costume, you can change it at a Tailor *nods* plus, you can unlock more costume slots at 20, 30 and 40, and there is also one that can be unlocked at any time with a special kind of salvage. You can have up to 5 slots per character, so you can change costumes on a whim >.> some people are clothes horses...
[/ QUOTE ]
Some people have the Clothes Horse badge from halloween.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep me on both counts
Variety of character powers is another big difference. Different sets within classes (ATs) can play completely differently.
I WOW a priest can have different specs for example, but tend to be themed 1 of 3 ways (based on the trees), but in COX you can meet 20 defenders with completely different power set combos, strengths and skills
Variety in toons in this game is awesome -
Hate to point out the obvious Nny
But if you check the dominator feedback thread you will see your opinion is in the minority. A lot of peeps saying excellent things about this redesign package -

[ QUOTE ]
Ok, i would like to know what the hell is wrong with the developers for this game. Are you serious? taking the damage off of domination...?????? WE ARE DOMINATORS.... WE DOMINATE..... should keep the damage buff. oh and PSW....? why would u lower the dmg on that?????? its A TIER 9 POWER.... its supposed to be.... good.... good job Devs. oh and positron.... GG ON NERFING AE.... the most tarded thing you've done....
[/ QUOTE ]
Amusingly, the "damage nerf" to Psychic Shockwave just about evens out when you consider the damage buff to Dominators as a whole. Instead of dealing with highs and lows, now you get a consistent high. Plus you don't have to wait 38 levels to stop sucking. Now you're about even with other secondaries from level one. How cool is that?
You know, I'm not trying to be mean to you Dominator players out here, but you guys should take a look at how Stalker players reacted to their buff and try to model your posts off them. And think: You guys got an even better buff, in my opinion.
