Greetings All,
[/ QUOTE ]
Greetings fellow rad/rad, ill answer any question you got, also check my guide if you haven't already
[ QUOTE ]
Just started playing a couple of days ago... like the game. Tried a dark miasma/dark blast defender. Now attempting to try a radiation blast/radiation emission corrupter. I am new, so please forgive my noobish questions.
[/ QUOTE ]
No apologies needed! Everyone was new once!
[ QUOTE ]
1. I noticed the guides recommend picking either X-ray or neutrino blast, but not both. Is there a reason behind this?
[/ QUOTE ]
For me it comes down to this. At low levels take both, youll need the attacks. At higher levels once you get lots of set enhancements you'll pobably go for a high recharge build. This will mean x-ray and nutrino will recharge so quickly, you will only need one of them
[ QUOTE ]
2. Flying verses super speed, seems that most guides have flying in it. Is this a tactical type of thing or just a preference for ease of travel?
[/ QUOTE ]
Solo, I actually use super jump for the Hold/KB resistance in acrobatics. I solo a lot though
[ QUOTE ]
3. I like to group and solo, is the double radiation build desirable and descent for soloing?
[/ QUOTE ]
There's only a few EB's in the game I haven't been able to solo. Solo build requires a different focus and skills. I recommend making a dual build later on, one for solo, one for teaming. That way you can swap out powers like mutation and fallout for more defenses.
[ QUOTE ]
4. Is stamina a requirement for this type of character or just makes life easier?
[/ QUOTE ]
I have permanent Accelerate metabolism, Stamina and power sink. Rad/Rad loves burnig endurance
[ QUOTE ]
Thanks. My apologies if these are n00b questions... just want to learn correctly from the get go >.>;
[/ QUOTE ]
A N00b is someone who never learns, a new player is someone who asks for help -
[ QUOTE ]
Fairly unfounded rumor, but I have to admit the post title made me drool a little.
[/ QUOTE ]
Rumor is not unfounded, positron mentioned it in a Q&A during the anniversary event. But did not give a timeline.

I agree with most of your post, but the markets are only seperated by faction (hero and villain), not across servers.
There is NO difference in price from server to server.
[/ QUOTE ]
Siolfir is right, market prices are the same per faction.
The only issue is the market bounces up and down like an ADHD three year old after eating 5 mars bars and being given a trampoline for christmas. -
[ QUOTE ]
Your guide there makes me wanna try the Rad/Rad. I am enjoying my Rad/Storm, but there are too many skills I want in both sets and It's too tight for comfort. I'm still new and tight builds with tradeoffs/sacrifices always make me wonder what I'm missing...
[/ QUOTE ]
Someone read my guide! Woot! -
go /traps
I promise its the FOTM, all the cool kids are /traps. -
Due to Equation being away we have agreed for me to do a guest spot on "Because I have to look at you".
He will be back (hopefully in a week or two), but life is dealing him some rough cards at the moment. -
[ QUOTE ]
As for the names thats easy to fix. Whoever has a name used by others has a # put at the end of their name depending in what order their toon was made. No way to get around SGs though.
There are too many servers. Im willling to bet if they released server population numbers youd see theres room for improvement. I think the switching servers at will is a good idea, and would make for some interesting situations.
Like a "Whose the most powerful SG on all servers Contest" or etc... Right now two servers are overcrowded and the rest wasted.
[/ QUOTE ]
You might be ok with having your character named Tongo7 , But I would be furious if I lost some of the names I have, or if they got numbers put at the end.
Really furious
I refuse to play on freedom, and I wouldn't want to force the culture of freedom onto any server that didn't want it. These severs have been around for 5 years, they each have their own culture, traditions and history. -
Better place for this is suggestions and ideas.
Anything that gives us more options on clothes and costuming is good in my book -
[ QUOTE ]
Easy to solve that problem....move to America!!!
[/ QUOTE ]
I too get hit by the server shutdown times in New Zealand. Not planning on moving back to the USA anytime soon however -
my 24 cents (same 2 cents i've used a dozen times)
Vehicles, while conceptually cool, would take a lot of resources to design and code. About the same as several new powersets, or dozens of costume sets, or a new zone, or a bunch of new enemy groups.
Considering that we have travel powers already and there is no pressing "need" for vehicles, their may be a "want" but no "need".
We can already run as fast as a motorbike, or fly like a jet. Given the limited use of Vehicles they would become largely a cosmetic enhancement. A cosmetic enhancement that would come at the cost of other game improvements.
PS. Mephis Bill is a pretty smart and on to it guy, he just gets annoyed at people posting the same idea over and over again (like a lot of forum regulars) Bill is a knowledge base on the game, so being rude to him is just shooting yourself in the foot and making others dislike your attitude. The COX forums are pretty civil most of the time, and we respect reasoned and rational arguements. Continue to act like a child and you will be treated like one. Act with respect and you will get respect.
Peace! -
First of all, does Power have a new account?
Anyway, NO to anything that makes one AT or powerset substantially better than any other.
No to incarnates unless the introduce a new and interesting play style, like soldiers and khelds did.
Also, no to incarnate just being another origin. If they do bring it out, at least make it interesting. Interesting, but not too powerful. -
Cheers Stever, all answered. Probably could of searched but I suffer from lazy [censored] disorder
-
Unlockable maps, enemies and costumes
Are they account wide or character based? -
[ QUOTE ]
Y'know what would be a fun challenge? For Arbiter Fabulous and Crime of Fasion to try a design swap. Each one designing a new outfit for the other.
[/ QUOTE ]
Cool idea, but considering what just happened to equation it may be a while away. -

Kind of like how saying Bloody in the U.K. is like dropping an F-bomb here.
[/ QUOTE ]
Lolz. Who told you that? This Englishman occasionally uses bloody in polite company.
[/ QUOTE ]
To bloody right we do!
To the New Zealander Bloody is about as offensive as dammed, blasted or flaming. You use it to emphasize other words. Like Bloody Heck! ro "that was a bloody good tv show" for example -
[ QUOTE ]
Truth be told, i was shocked that anyone was reading the forums at this time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Point of order mister speaker!
Not everyone is on USA time -

*wonders how many more free trailers for the game she has to make to qualify for permanent closed beta access*
[/ QUOTE ]
i wonder what makes you think you are entitled to something more than the rest of the playerbase
your videos are pretty good, but they do little to show the features of the new issues in action
[/ QUOTE ]
That's pretty harsh dude
Personally, I think the devs should nurture and sponsor player created advertising and utilities. People who create stuff that supports the game would be on my list of top beta testers, people like Mids.
Oh, as well as good testers of course. They would be my 1st round picks, with community stars in the 2nd round.
Just my 2 cents of course, what do i know -

As for the auras, pair the right eye aura with the right goggles or visor, and you've got some high-tech tactical gear.
[/ QUOTE ]
Good point!
Oh, and thanks. Being a civilian who works for the military I wanted to make sure I did the article with a degree of accuracy and respect, while staying in character. Working at HQ I see Army, Navy and Air Force personnel in and out of uniform everyday, so that made it pretty easy. -
[ QUOTE ]
WRONG!
I did use a respec when my widow completed her patron arc, so I got my 3 million (not 5) in SO money back.
I spent somewhere between EIGHT and TEN HOURS saturday night sitting in Cap waiting. After selling a few goodies along the way, I blew all 8 million & was still short the funds to slot level 40 IOs in 2 powers. I scrounged up another million selling stuff & SO'ed them
THe market is screwed right now. Set IO recipes that months ago were going for 50K to 100K are now over a million. Pangean Soil USED to be down to 500K ish. it's 5 freaking million on the black market now!
Gee, so if I spend 6 hours running 3 ITFs all day I MIGHT be able to afford 1 component of 1 recipe.
[/ QUOTE ]
Common IO's are what i did in the experiment, not set IO's.
You said you couldn't afford generic IO's for your toon even though you had 5 mill in the bank
I proved you wrong, i got a toon kitted out in generics for 1.7 million.
Now your trying to say "you cant get full sets for 5 mill"
You could never, ever get full sets for a level 40 toon for 5 million. Not from day one.
I did it in 30 odd mins of game time, buying some recipes from the crafting station, along with 2 hours bidding while i watched a movie.
If your incapable of doing such a simple process, I can see why the market confuses you.
Funny thing is, I have run 5 task forces in total in 18 months, yet i have roughly 1,261,165,506 infamy in cash on my toons at the moment.
The problem is not that you don't run tasks forces 24/7, its not the market, the problem is you not understanding how it works. -
Final cost of fully kitting a toon in level 30 IO's for me, done in 20-30 minutes (with 2 hours downtime waiting for some bids)
3,993,978 Full cost
2,262,564 net cost.
I saved over 1.7 million by taking two additional steps before replacing the IOs
1. Buy 10 level 40-50 SOs/IOs for cheap on the market. Don't pay more than 5-10k. Keep them in your inventory when you respec
2.) Use the respec from last issues and get rid of all your slotted enhancements with the buy back feature, this includes those level 50 SO/Ios
So simply put, 5 Mill is easily enough to equip a toon in basic IO's -
[ QUOTE ]
Unless I'm severely mistaken, anyone can craft a full set of level 35 IOs with a little patience and 5 million... the only price that fluctuates is the price of the salvage. I'm pretty lazy so I always buy my recipes from the table (until I've memorized them) and I still don't think I spend over 5 million to outfit a character at level 35.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm IO'ing a level 27 at the moment. I've left all his market slots full of bids and will do the crafting tomorrow.
Starting cash before doing the IO'ing at level 30 is 28,603,838 inf.
I'll post tommorrow with updated costs about how much it costs to IO a toon in basic IO's on the current market, just to prove it costs less than 5 mill.
When i get my total cost I will post a few tricks about how to get IO's for not a lot. -
[ QUOTE ]
Does it work? Yes.
The results are the same thing that happened to gas prices last year however. Huge run ups in prices due to "speculators" buying low & selling high, and removing inventory from the market.
Right now my 38 Night Widow is running on SOs because even with 5 mill in the bank, I can't afford generic IOs anymore.
[/ QUOTE ]
Level 35-40 basic IO's should cost about 60-150k each per slot if you buy the recipe at the crafting stand.
If you wait for bargains and have a bit of patience 5 mill should easily equip you with 35-40 IO's. Especially if you hadn't wasted about 5 mill on Single origins from level 27, 32 and 37. -
Well four speed,
I just have a different strategy, one that requires less than 5 mins at the market when i log on, and less than 5 mins there once i end a session. Doing this over the last week on my new 50 I have managed to make about 200 Mill, from probably an hour total market time.
So while I see your strat as valid, and really good for people who dont have a huge bankroll. Its too time intensive for me based on the returns
PS. My start has allowed me to build up a good nest egg for my toons.
http://cit.cohtitan.com/character/184093 -
This strategy seems perfectly sound to me, and in all honesty it is below the level of most high powered ebil marketeers.
The time required is pretty inefficient for me personally, all that running about. But for people who need a small nest egg, or a steady stream of cash while they play this strat is great. -
60 month is a very useful, and potentially powerful addition. For many toons its essential and extra power pick.
I'm still 42 months away from it, but hey. 60 month vets are 60 month vets, they have earned it.
