I like the new format for the events announcements. I find it to be more clear and more informative.

Honestly, there's only been three people to have put anything in the CS that's been worth reading: Neuronia, Dirtwolf, and JMan.

These last issues haven't been getting any better and today's was no exception. There's better writing to be found out there in this game. Any way the editors of CS can go out there and find them so we aren't left with what we've been given in these past many issues?

"the reason there are so many sarcastic pvpers is we already had a better version of pvp taken away from us to appease bad players. Back then we chuckled at how bad players came here and whined. If we knew that was the actual voice devs would listen to instead of informed, educated players we probably would have been bigger dicks back then." -ConFlict

Neuronia is struggling to find anything to write about due to the lack of PVP and articles ideas. PM him your ideas.

JMan had a grand total of one article in the Scoop. While that had a great reaction from the PVP crowd, the rest of the player base had a reaction somewhere between "tolerated" and "why is this in the Scoop?"

While I agree that "Em Smack!" was funny most of the time (there were a couple of flops, but I still love them), I think the Heckic Life is also pretty funny. So were Lattice's comics.

The Scoop can't afford to pay anyone so we rely on volunteers. And I will not lower the Scoop's standards to the level of LOLCats.

That being said, exactly who do you think would be "better"?

I missed two. Equation's fashion articles are actually entertaining at times (understandable why he hasn't been able to write more, given what's been going down) and Xury's article was great.

JMan's article had a very Hot/Cold reaction, depending on who viewed it. The ones who hated it seem to give the impression that they didn't understand it was supposed to be humor. The ones who were indifferent were just that. The ones who liked it seem to appreciate a good roast. This went farther than the PvP community, btw.

Em Smack was the high point of the comics for the CS. While there were a couple flops, the jokes generally had a bit of depth to them. Lattice's comics were considerably more shallow, with the punchlines being basically handed to you, thus taking the humor right out of them. Hecktic Life even more so. I can applaud the two for putting their work out there for all to criticize, but they're just below Marmaduke/Ziggy/Family Circus in terms of funny.

For writers that you might consider looking into/asking submissions from, I'd look at both Fearghas and Heroid. Even an interview of either of those two would gain more interest from me than what's been running recently. If you can find her, Soaring Valor would be an excellent source to draw from for articles. Seeing as how she used to do her own weekly for quite some time and were some of the best reads I've seen on these forums, I'd definitely check her work out. (If you can find her, as she's been incommunicato as of late).

And I'm sure if you said "Hey, could you do up some MS-Paint comics for us?" Xury would be all over that. He could probably do an entire edition of the scoop in MS-Paint weekly, if he was motivated enough.

Due to Equation being away we have agreed for me to do a guest spot on "Because I have to look at you".

He will be back (hopefully in a week or two), but life is dealing him some rough cards at the moment.

After Teldon had interviewed me two weeks ago about the MA, I pointed him in the direction of @Doc Hornet and @Fearghas for their contributions to the MA. I also know he's been screamingly busy so he might not have been able to hook up with them yet. And I do hope he continues to interview the MA writers!

Just by these two paragraphs, I would say that I would agree with you that the Scoop isn't likely to be your thing. I do not see the Scoop going any farther down the "smack talk/roast" road than what Equation's articles have been. I have had requests for him to tone down his articles due to content of the first few. He has and I am comfortable with the current level of his articles.

I think you are wrong in how you remember the response to JMan's article. I know that even internally at the time we discussed it (we had almost 10 pages of internal discussion on that one article). The upshot of the discussion was that we would not seek out people, but have them approach us.

Feel free to try to convince the posters you have named to submit articles to the Scoop. Generally we accept most articles we get.

Thank you for reading, and feel free to submit a guest article.

The Scoop is good for what it is. It's a house organ, so that really limits it. But I respect all who contribute to it. Delivering quality content on a regular schedule isn't easy. I'd love to see what a no-holds-barred Scoop would be like though.

I'd be happy to provide any interviews for the City Scoop if I've earned the right to have one.
