  1. Guys,
I understand that Lighthouse made a light hearted comment because he didnt know.

However, given that he is the manager over there, couldn't he, or shouldn't he have gotten the answer via email or however from Cryptic?

Timely.. well we have waited sometimes as few as minutes for answers, other times as long as weeks or months for answers. Even other times, no answers at all.

This just seemed like a no brainer to have that answer at his availability before he posted that one.

Now, if Lighthouse takes offense , then my bad and I would offer him an I'm sorry.

I do however think that when he is asked in his position to post an announcement that he should be able to find the answers to questions before he posts a second 'comment'.
I like his general posting on topics and such, but this one seemed to strike odd in me.

Chalk it up to being cranky or what have you.

If ole Lighthouse finds it snarky (not really my intention, but more of I would hope for better than I don't know in a direct reply to questions), then I hope he understands it comes from wanting the best from and for the game.

So, will these be the old style 1 Free costume change per Costume Slot tokens? (eg, if you had 3 costume slots unlocked, that character would get three free changes) Or like the new vet reward Costume Changes which are good for one change total?

Also, theres probably going to be a comment about the value of the veteran reward costume tokens in relation to these free ones any minute now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To be honest, I'm not sure. Blame me as the newbie I'd wager that they will likely be in the style of free ones given out in the past. Take that for what you will

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Lighthouse,
You seem like a man genuinely interested in your position as well as the game and community in general.

So please, don't give a lame excuse as being a newbie (which you aren't).
You have direct access to the Dev team, find out which is the case about the tokens. Don't give us 'it may or may not be' kind of answer on something simplistic as this please.
We , the game community, and you the manager of the community boards deserve to have complete and accurate answers.

Thanks Lighthouse, didn't mean to harp on you, but this seems too simplistic for us to be given an "I don't know" answer.

  3. I'm not too pleased about the idea of them buffing the bosses accuracy in a way that will decrease for the defense set, but the other majority of sets will only be getting hit by bossess more often now.
Just what we need, more hits without the defense to withstand it.

On Mercy Island? I'd be surprised if there ere more than 5 or 10 in the whole zone (I'd guess Atlas and Galaxy are the same way).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wrongo. All lowbie zones have almost 50 spawn points in CoH. Proof:

And I may even be missing one or two spawn points in zones like AP where people were clicking on them too much.

Have any spawn points for Cov?

Do you have to kill off the snowmen after collecting the present to get the badge?

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, just collecting the glowies (presents) 200 times will give you the Toy Collector badge.
  6. Thanks Pax, wasn't sure of the answer.
  7. Anyone know if teaming helps?
Like forming up a 8 man team and scouring a zone? I know only the person collecting gets the good or bad, but does the count actually acrue for all members of the team?

Since the spawns are team sized, am hoping this is true.
  8. Neither do I, except the glowies are called presents and the gifts in your inspiration tray are also labeled presents.

    BUT..
    I CAN say....

It is for the Glowies.. I JUST got the Toy Collector and got it on opening a glowie who gave the naughty.

    Sooo
    200 Glowies folks
  9. Okay yet another stupid question from me.
    Is it 200 Glowies? orrrrrr
    200 actual presents opened??

The reward tables for CoV are the exact same ones as CoH.

The store definitions for CoV are the exact same ones as CoH.

You don't start giving up Inf. for Prestige until level 24.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You don't get all the rewards that are available in COH as you do in COV. No drug bust or mugging rescues to gain extra infamy in COV like there is in COH so no it is not the same rewards.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, but there's no ghost-pirate spawns burying treasure chests in CoH.

We couldn't POSSIBLY put extra rewards on those... could we?

    Since you chimed in Jack...
Can you tell us if the players will get the chance to be either hero OR villain? THose of us that are in beta that is?

While being a villain is cool.. .I think I would choose to go hero myself.

If not.. rest assured.. I WILL be beating the red/white and blue off of you and will be making pop cans out of Positrons armor

Can you confirm or deny that the other Dev's will have a shot like Positron, Ms. Liberty , Manticore etc at being there?
    As live players that is.

    Curious minds want to know

You'll have your chance - I'll be playing the one and only Statesman!

If you do (or are on a team that does) 25% or more of the Giant Monster's HP in damage, then you (your team) will receive the badge for defeating the Giant Monster.

So up to 4 teams can get the badge off a single Giant Monster, if each did EXACTLY 25% of the Giant Monster's hit points (not likely).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Positron..
Exactly if you can tell us... 'why' you changed giant monsters from Cooperative ventures against bad guys to Competitive ventures agaisnt bad guys?
In a City of Heroes.. isn't cooperation the word?

We have to fight to do the most damage when 10, 20 or more heroes should be all trying to defeat the Giant Monster and get their badge for it.

Now you have that many fighting trying to edge out others who simply maybe weren't lucky enough to get picked up by a team and so will not get their badge. Even if they were doing their 'all' trying to get it.

Please post a reply to the thinking that went on regarding this subject.

    Sally Spawn Rate

    Positron,
Can you also go in and check the spawn rates of Kraken.

He isn't rare.. he is untraceable!

The spawn rate on Justice is such.. that I haven't even heard of him in months.

Please check the spawn rates of all the monsters. We have been asking for a very long time on the spawn rates of these events.
  16. To everyone who replied to my posting. I wish to thank your input, well.. except for the one who called me a fanboy.

I found some of the comments .. like bending over.. pretty funny.

I believe that everyone has a inherint right and even obligation to post a constructive comment. We have all seen changes take place because of constructive comments.
And yes, we have seen much constructive comments go unheeded.

My post was to bring to light the constant whining and complaining. The self serve ME ME ME ME ME's of the world.

In one way they have a right, they did it, it would have been great for them to be rewarded for it. Absolutely NO question there.

But Cryptic says they won't go through it and based on the information they provided, it is a smart decision on their part.
Who wants to wait such a long time to have a badge awarded? Most probably won't even be playing on that server anyway by then.

Cryptic would never open up it's databases to allow outsiders to 'help' with the datamining.

As for being called a fanboy... hmm cool.. thanks for that.
Guess in your eyes that was supposed to be an insult?
And here, so many others have said that this is the best Dev team out there as far as responses. Sooo I guess I am a fanboy of a good team? Hmmm I can live with that. Too bad I choose to support a good team and not complain the wrong way about it huh.

    Thanks for the posts everyone.
BTW: Yeah Cryptic I would have hoped would have caught or posted warnings about the known issues of the TF badges. They dropped the ball on that one.

I think I will still stick around for the long haul though. I enjoy the game still despite it's problems and flaws.
At least I can fly high above the city and not have to run around still after 50 to 60 levels like some games. Cryptic has done many right things. They have done a few wrong things. But they always try to do what they feel is right.

They can look beyond the vision of a single AT, a single player, a single team, a single supergroup. They can look beyond a single game.
They put together their game(s) with their vision in mind.
It is just our paying pleasure to muck it up on them and make them change things hahaha.

    Enjoy all
  17. [ QUOTE ]

As long as I am a paying customer, I will always have the right to ask questions. Its called customer service.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I do agree, you do have the right to ask questions.
Everyone does. But we do not have the right to badger and whine and endlessly complain of how 'we' could have done it better. That is all too prevelant on these boards.
But I do agree, we do have the right to ask questions.

    [ QUOTE ]
To say that the customer is not always right is ridiculous.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I do not agree with you on this one. It is only in the mind of the customer that they are always right.
They can always go elsewhere as your sample suggested, but that doesn't make them 'right'. It only makes them unhappy with you or in this case Cryptic. Happy doesn't make right. And as a company, you have to do what is right for your company and know that not every customer will be happy over it. ..

    [ QUOTE ]
So spare me with the "There is no the customer is always right" bull. The only area where this does not exist is when a company corners the market in an area, and NCSoft/Cryptic is not the only game in town

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again it is not bull, nor do I have to spare you something which is a time proven way of doing business.
Ever been told by a power , telephone, cable company how 'right' your opinion is? They will tell you there is only so much they can do. Which means, there is only so much they are willing to do.

So it is not bull, it is fact.
    [ QUOTE ]

And you are right, I'm not in the industry. And I commend these guys for all the work they do. But they need to understand that this is not a popular decision. Some of these posts may come off a little harsh, but I don't think you understand some of the frustration some of us feel as customers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wrong again, I feel the frustration too. However I also see the line they have drawn and as you, will have to live with that decision. I just however am not going to whine and complain about it. Not saying did that, just going with the majority of the posts here.

Cryptic has made their decision, some are coming around now they have been told the reason why the decision. They is appears have chosen to stay. Probably still not happy about the decision, but showing enough respect towards others to no longer whine and complain.
    For that, I respect them.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I'll pop in here so you guys have a new target.

The original Task Force Datamine took 3 months to finish. That was to go over 2 months worth of data.

We now have 18 months worth of data. We looked for a more effecient solution, but our estimates still come out at 2 years to datamine and get you your badges.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Okay...
I wish to say something about the mass hysteria going on about this.

Look at how Positron opened up his message. He opened it up with a blantant way of how he feels about all this complaining.
To give you a new target ... OMG.. I'm sure that everyone has had something happen in the game that they are not happy with.

When that happens, what you do about it shows what kind of person you are!

Do you whine about it endlessly? Ordering people around like some poor animal? Demanding that they must do whatever you want in order to satisfy you?

Or do you accept their explanation (regardless of whether you like or believe their explanation). Because this isn't about them, it is about how you are. It is about the person you are.

Positron gave you his reason. Accept the reason and either choose to redo the task forces or choose not to. Choose to stay or choose to leave.

If you are the type of person to yell and scream and demand things all the time, expecting since you pay a measly 15 dollars a month that you can command things. You are very sadly mistaken.
I can tell you that no business will go beyond a certain limit to satisfy any single person who represents such a small amount of income to the company. If you have a 1000 accounts, then perhaps you would be worthy of their attention. But at anything less than that, your number value is too small for them to concern themselves with.

I know that you would get better results without whining and complaining and demanding then EVER with it.
Operating a company you are more than likely to 'try' for the nicer people than the complainers.

There is no 'the customer is always right'. That does not exist.

You don't know the technical side of things, even if you are in the industry, you don't know how Cryptic is set up. If they tell you it can't/won't be done. Then that is it.

Why would Crytipc/NCSoft want to let you deluge their GM staff with constant requests to datamine on an individual basis.
It detracts from their main job of helping players with situations. It also opens up to people abusing the system.

It is time for people would rise above what they only wish to see and accept what has been said to them.

Above all, stop harrassing the Development Team. Even they must have their limits to what they will 'take' from the complainers. Hopefully everyone can see by how Positron opened up his post that he is someone who is not amused by all the complaining.
They made a business decision and it is up to us to strive to accept that decision and not whine and complain about it.

Walk away if you must, stay if you will, but accept what Positron has said already.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
I entirely intend to do so, if it is based on inf.

I hate the idea of SG prestige buying bases, in a large part because my SG teams together pretty constantly, but never uses the SG mode, as the colors just don't fit with a lot of our characters. We shouldn't have to look like silly little gits to have a decent base.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know if this rumor is true, but just in case I am informing our members to switch to SG mode.
And as for your concern about colors (which is a concern of many), I posted to simply default to your original character colors. Only the SG symbol appears on the chest then.

    Hope that helps
  20. Well it seems to be a way of coercing the SG's to use that part of their group.
It does make sense if that is what they want.

However.. Why did you have to point out a very blantant abuse of the system like that?

Doesn't pointing out that abuse simply take away from people just playing the game for fun and not abusing every loophole out there?

I am in favor of having them use the SG mode. Seems a better idea than having to use Influence for it. Makes it so they don't have to farm missions for influence.

Of course you did point an an abuse they will do to cover the prestiage cost. Unless.. they make it so that you can only accumulate so much any one time?

Still seems like a good idea.
  21. All I know is....

There is a reported history of Geko NOT liking answering questions from the forum.

But then again, it is only six questions, but since he is the powers guy....

I imagine his thread will be huge indeed.

And Recluse's thread will be tons dealing with ..
When is CoV coming out for beta yada yada yada

We already know poor States thread will be full of more I hate I5's and Why did you do this after a year and that after a year.

Hopefully there will be new and exciting questions.

Good luck to all in posing good questions
  22. Jack
Best wishes to the whole family and everyone over there.

As for those that have taken to telling Statesman how the proper way to respond in the forums is....

I think that Jack is educated enough, and savy enough to post how he wants. Much the same as you post how you want.
If you want to tell him how to post, then perhaps he should tell you how to post and enforce his choice of "how" you post when you dont post in the manner he wants you to.

That 'might' produce a lot less posting by some people.

The developers allow a great freedom in how people post on their boards. Many choose to post with legitimate concerns and suggestions. There are a good number that post with whines and mud slinging towards the developers.
Why do the people that wish to berate Statesman for how he chooses to post, not in turn tell those that mud sling etc how to post? Why must everyone make Statesman into the mechanically politically correct idealist professional in 'their' eyes alone.

There are a good many people that have said they not only have no problem with how he posts, but don't want him to change at all. I think the select few that wish him to post as described above, should perhaps just read what is said to them and not how it is said.

Try to remember, that this is a forum, and while there are some posts that dont read professional enough for some ... Statesman has held an above board attitude towards people despite the constant complaints and mud slingling towards him.

If you think it was less than professional, perhaps it was simply in how you chose to view it.

This is an outrage, Scrappers whine cause they can't take on multiple 4+ bosses and AVs, and can't herd as well any more and they get a written apology

[/ QUOTE ] Please be careful with these generalizations. I'd like to see Blasters helped out, but when I see that kind of blind overgeneralizing and lashing out, it makes it really hard to stay supportive...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Where the HELL were you this week? You didn't just see it happen? There was the Biggest Thread ever next to the "Ask a stupid question" thread that degenerated into EXACLTLY that, Regens complaing that they couldn't take on Multiple high level Bosses. And YES, Statesman writing an Apology.

Did he apologize to us DA's who still are subPar for threatening to Nerf us? Hell no he apologized to the Regen-Masses (Which I REMIND everyone, I own a Regen too and helped improve them) , We DA's are in the same boat as the Blasters, the SS-Ignored.

Point is, you must have been watching something completely different this week because what he described it exactly the way it happened.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ILR....
As much as I think Blasters need adjustments..
Your statement was not quite accurate.
Statesman apologized for having a screwed up internal game. That is all he apologized for. And then he said they would fix the internal game (where they were derived their data from) and then retest scrappers.

You give the impression he apologized to scrapper for touching their Regen, when in all likelihood, he will go through with his 'adjustment' to Regens.

I gave what I thought was a decent option for Blasters, but we will all have to wait to see what Jack and his development team put together.
  24. From my tests on the test server.
a lvl 50 scrapper (myself) got 305 feet away from a lvl 48 tanker.

I received ZERO experience for his arrests.

This was in the Install Pychic dampers on the Pychic Babbage mission. Which is as we all know, and outdoor instanced mission.

We bugged it as we beleive anywhere in the zone we should have been getting shared XP.
IF I would have been a support class and not able to do attacks as I would have been buffing/debuffing/healing whatever. Then I would be getting no XP for being on that mission.
  25. Most excellent binding thread

    Thanks for posting it
