  2. As the title states I logged in after downloading the most recent patch the other day and all my characters made in the AE including allies, contacts and enemy groups have disappeared as well as all my non published Arcs, one which was 5 missions long and had a lot of effort into.

Now, in my City of Heroes directory they are all present under folders for Missions, Customvilliangroup and custom_critter. But not showing up in game, anyone know how to fix this? I have already contacted support twice to no avail...just the Gm message saying they have sent the issue up....

    Thanks.
  3. I don't care how it's implemented however, I have to truly agree that merits are given out at a joking rate...

The cost for recipes is way too high. They either need to cut the merit price in half or double the merits.

    So what weapon is it?
What if you can throw lightning, fire, cold etc etc from whatever weapons you want now. "Mind Rays", "Ice Guns", "Fire Wands", "Staff of Elec.." etc etc.

So no matter what AT you were, you could execute powers from whatever weapon you were holding. I suppose certain power sets couldn't apply, but it would be a very nice idea none the less.

    It's extremely unlikely, just sayin'
  5. /Mind is light years ahead of /Ice

Your primary isn't going to really matter, it is what you make it, but anything X/Mind/Ice is going to be a joke to try and kill in PvE. A /Mind/Force is quite epic as well, Force of Nature + Drain Psyche is nasty, not to mention PFF being the awesome sauce.
  6. Face the cave entrance, turn off travel powers, hold backwards and jump a couple times....works every time it happens for me.
  7. I'm really just happy all the devs are posting in this thread telling everyone how hard they are working at reimplementing Pre-i13 PvP, and making comments on the massive amount of concern that a particular player base has (I would say a PvP player base is relatively integral to a games success as well) and reassuring us that they aren't just trying to **** everyone, because honestly, as reasonable as I am, the sheer magnitude of this blunder makes me think someone was intentionally trying to lose subscriptions. CoH has a spy among their midst.
  8. I've had two titles, both from winning PvP tournaments back before PvP 2.0 ruined PvP.
  9. ^^On that note, the ability to only search for team leaders and to eliminate players already on teams from searches would be two awesome options.

    Dp Vs DS

Absolutely an invalid comparison. DS cannot do as much straight up AoE damage as a DP out of the box, that doesn't mean DS isn't good. The elemental additions are really not very important in all honesty. You need to look at the numbers on everything, but comparing a ranged damage set to a MM set because of its type damage is silly. They have nothing to do with each other and damage type isn't a big deal at all.
  12. Energy Aura would kick *** if they made the heal actually a heal and not a dick tease.
  13. Way to go and ruin another event Devs. Only one zone for the event so everyone is locked out? City of Fail.

I think there is a perception problem though if players in the game separate what they do on the basis of what the event is, and I really think there's a problem with the opening point of view that there are sub-communities centralized around aspects of the game. Badges are a result of playing the game. Mission Architect is another way to play the game that gives badges. PvP is another way to play the game that gives badges.

Some players like to run task forces. Some players like to hunt. Some players like to run story missions. Some players like to hang out. Some players like to run repeatable missions. Some players like to farm. Some players like to do radio missions or newspapers with the safe guard / mayhem.

From a pure player traffic standpoint, the majority of the game plays the game, which is running missions and task forces. From what we know of the traffic numbers from a couple years ago, a very small minority of the game enters the PvP zones. If I recall correctly, the example that was used to paint PvP traffic stated that the Old Hollows, the pre-revamp Hollows, averaged more player traffic each day than all of the PvP zones combined on each server.

Now, as far as I'm aware, there's no official or unofficial number given for the player traffic that utilizes the AE system. Rather, the developers seem reluctant to discuss in any sort of detail just what the player traffic numbers signify. We can extrapolate from the player subscriptions as reported by NCSoft's financial department that the changes made to both the AE systems and the PvP systems had a negligible to non-existant impact on continued subscriber numbers. There was no sharp and continued drop off signaling a mass exodus of players.

This tells us that the visible players raising the points of AE and PvP in the forums, here, are a drastically small minority of the game, and so far have no visible impact on the financial basis of the game.

We also have empirical evidence, as documented by several players, that on the larger servers when a new AE exploit is found, Peregine Island has less instances, and when the AE exploits are closed, Peregine Island gains instances. This indicates that the abusing population of the game is flexible in what they do. Ergo, it's difficult to determine exactly what the traffic numbers are for AE.

We do know that the developers only anticipated maybe 10% to 15% of the player base sustaining AE involvement, which was one of the reasons why the sheer number of AE arcs in the first week of the release blew everybody's mind away. We can probably presume the developers numbers were accurate, and based on the number of new missions and missions being rated today, it's likely a higher number of players works with the AE system than projected.

That of course does mean a 10x to 15x lead over the single digit percentages reported to be involved with PvP play.
PvP never had a community? Lol

    The Boot Myth

Let me give some examples of people who, according to the forums, will get kicked from the team because of their own foolish considerations:
    • A Mastermind with no Henchmen
    • An Arachnos Soldier or Arachnos Widow without Tactical Training: Maneuvers
    • A Kinetics without Fulcrum Shift
    • Any Kheldian
Now, I've done my fair share of teaming, and I've never come across those intimidating types who carefully examine your build to see whether or not your power selections satisfy their min/maxing appetites. In fact, very rarely am I ever on a team where any member even checks to see what powers another member has. Everybody just goes with it, and if it works, it works.

Maybe I'm just lucky, or perhaps Triumph is just a better server than the others, but in my experience, you are not going to get booted from a team based on your power selections.

    Also: petless Mastermind /plug
Watched the video, your MM sucks without henchman and does nothing but prove the point about petless MMs.

You are getting booted from my team if you play like crap, which inherently also has to do with your power choices. If you do your part then you are good, but a your character in particular would get kicked no ifs, ands or buts about it.

And about Khelds...they kick *** in the right hands, and cosmic balance is good business.

My team usually involves, me (on whatever), 1 tank, everything else is Controllers and defenders. +4/+whatever and we stomp stuff. This is all PUGing, I just picked a **** ton of debuffers/buffers for the super team concept that works so well. Debuff overload. I usually lead, since no one else will it seems, and a lot of AE babies are around so they need help and direction for regular missions. Nothing like having a **** ton of stormies on a team stacking FR and steamy mist.

  18. My favorite server to team on is Virtue (as a PUGer)
My ONLY server for PvPing is Freedom

I team on both though, which both are quite easy to get a team on.

I really wouldn't look at any other servers unless you like not being able to find a team 24/7.

Your comment about PvPers running PvE tfs better is laughable too, id like to see an entire team of x/psi or x/energy blasters run a TF better than a regular team, i really would.
I'm just happy you made this statement so I could stop reading the rest of your post, brush my shoulders off and file it into the "Extremely ignorant and wanting" Category.

It is the "skillset" of the players in PvP that make them more valuable in a PvE environment, not a specific AT and build. Even implying that PvPers would bring those ATs and powersets to a TF suggests you know much less then you imply about PvP.

    I'm sure you PvP lol

I highly discourage any new player from playing on this server unless you have come from WoW, etc.

Virtue is the unofficial RPG server. It isn't all about RPG, but there are a lot of people hanging out in the Pocket D chatting it up in RPG-like fashion. (I have never run into a situation where anyone called me on my RPG-lite form of play on this or any other server.) This players are often willing to adapt to different styles of play.

Justice is the unofficial Oceanic Server and usually ranks 3 for the most populated server. Lots of new players to this server recently. Pretty helpful community of players. Open to different play dynamics for the most part. I don't have a problem finding a team here even though it is Rank 3 population wise.

Infinity was once known as the unoffical PvP server. I don't know what the status is on that point. It is usually in the 4th or 5th slot. Pretty helpful community of players. Open to different play dynamics for the most part. I don't have a problem finding a team here even though its rank is below 3 population wise.

After that, the servers generally jump around for population status determined by the time of day or day of the week.

Triumph, Pinnacle, and Protector are generally in the 4 lowest population slots.
Triumph used to be one of the higher ranking population servers (while I used to play on it more often). I' not going to be so bold as to say it has dropped down the population list since I haven't been playing there so much, but it still has a pretty good core of players (ran an Reishman's TF there on Friday).
Pinnacle is known as the drunken server (once because it came up slowly after rebooting, now because - well - there are a lot of drinking references at least and probably a lot of drinkers on the sever) and, if you really want to be on the "in" on this server, you have to join the jello shooters or some such global channel. Check the forums it's listed. I don't use globals, so I really don't care. But I still can find teams - sometimes - when I'm the one running a team.
Protector. I don't know what to say. Sometimes I can get a really cool team over there, but most of the time there isn't much going on and not many that are in a level-range that I want to run a team with (due to my characters level) - usually this is because I don't want to invite characters that are above my level.

    All NA servers -
There are apparently a lot of players that stay in /ghide.
There tend to be sg's that won't play with anyone that isn't in their sg; I'm not saying that all sg's are like that, but there are definitely some that are like that.

Each server definitely has a different flavor of players. I would check out each one and get a feel for the kind of play on each one before making a decision to stick to just one - heck - I say don't stick with just one anyway and just keep jumping characters/sides/servers, but I'm an alt-oholic after all.

    You fail hard.

What good is having a game with a buttload of content if you gonna give people the option to skip it all by running the same mission over and over again? If the game was released with one mission, it wouldnt have lasted so long so why is it acceptable now?

If your calling people who complain most of the game is now pointless, i think you need to learn the meaning of the word 'retard'.

It is pretty funny though hearing chat on freedumb, its a lost cause now since more than 90% of the community there is just waiting for the next farm. Im so glad I moved servers, if it happens like that on virtue its game over for me.

AE pretty much wiped out the EU servers, its also lost a lot of players in the US, you would have thought people realised by now farming destroys the entire point of an MMORPG game.

Dont get me wrong, im not against farming at high levels, its just the new players coming into this game just see this, it creates a bunch of noobs who know nothing outside the AE building which come out at level 50 into the world, then get into a TF team asking questions like how to get out of Atlas, then get the team killed because they havent got buffbots and get booted, this happens again and again and eventually leave.

Farming is not bad for players who know the game but you cant have it both ways, you either hurt the noobs raising new charecters and make the vets suffer too, or you keep it the same and make the vets suffer and leave because of the influx of idiots at 50 who have no idea what there doing.

Either way, the vets have lived before AE, they can live without it giving exp.

Why keep spending more time and resources in something so obviously flawed and timewasting to developers? A lot of players werent even particularly excited about it when it came in, and since then every update has involved some AE fix. A lot of players also did like it however, and for that reason tickets should stay so level 50s play it and low levels can still earn cash there too with tickets but it does not damage the game later levels.

Look at the game now with the nerf in, did the game die? No. Will it die if exp is removed? No. Were there more players with exp at full? No. Everyone is still there, playing the same game. Just now there actually playing the game, not one farm map and also I havent received one message asking me what the yellow line was or telling me there leaving team because its better exp and cash in AE.

In reality, its the players own greed thats leading to the death of the game, not the lack of marketing or anything else. No new player is going to buy into an MMORPG for long if they can get maximum level in under a week. They might last the first months sub thats it because theres not enough 50 content to keep people occupied as it is.
    TL;DR

but since you seemed to type so much, let me just say, people don't spend $15 a month to do what you want them too.

What about the PvP community that was shattered when PvP 2.0 came out? Do they give a **** about content in the PvE world? Nope. I'd be willing to bet that the 10 best PvPers on any given day hardly play PvE at all, and would destroy the so called "PvE Gurus" through any PvE TF no contest.

And instead of taking the time to show these new folks the "correct way" (lulz) to PvE, you decide to ***** up a storm and morally justify it on a forum.

Running the same content from 1-50 is extremely boring for the 25th time. Some people like to farm their next 50s because they want to use them for TFs and PvP.

There is a minority of newbs who use AE, who NCsoft could have done a numerous amount of things to limit them using AE, but they didn't.

Farming isn't very relative in arguing against AE because farming will always take place. For awhile it just looked liked *gasp* the majority of people enjoyed farming. Sure, it was being done at ridiculous rates, but again, take that little finger of yours and point it back at yourself, because you should be worried about "numero uno". Whether the newbs learn at lvl 1, or at 50, they will learn, it's just a number. I've met retarded 50s who have been playing since beta.

I must also assume that all of your PvE skilled pals just happened to have quit, and limited the teams you could get. That your leadership skills are null and communication skills in game are even worse.

AE was nerfed, why are all these self righteous thugs still QQing?
