Quote:On that same token though Pains could also take Sonic and just add on to their debuffs.Empaths can have powerful debuffs through Sonic Blast(and Lore pets to demolish AV's) to close the gap, and will steamroll everything else quite fast due to their fast recharging crash-less nukes.
It would be the +rech from AB that would have to make up for the lack of -res due to increasing DPS. Either way, I'd like to see this happen. -
Quote:And here is a perfect example of what we've been talking about.
The Forum Cartel is nothing more than a title based on the number of posts someone makes in the game, yet this person is trying to use it to infer there is an elite group of players working in concert to control the forums. And yet as much as he tries to deny it he keeps referring to this imaginary Forum Cartel.
I'm not talking about the title, I'm talking about people I personally view as Dbags who fit a criteria I already outlined.
Quote:So the people that come up and post the same thing that's been posted a few hundred times before and start complaining "Don't tell me we know the engine can't handle this, or that it'd take a lot of work, my pie in the sky idea should be put into the game NEXT WEEK!" when the flaws are pointed out are the forum cartel? Or those that insist it's somehow evil to point out flaws or do anything but agree?
That's a new application of the term.
Quote:Dear Cold_X:
Prestige stopped mattering several issues ago. I'm sorry that you and/or your SG(s) haven't gotten the memo. It's completely meaningless now (no, really, it is), even/especially as some kind of high score or measure of contribution.
You want to be known for your contributions to the group and the game? Then ignore that silly, arbitrary, easily gameable number and go do worthy things. Organize (or assist with) events, for your SG and the public. Run missions, task forces, etc with your SG-mates. Help some newbies - give them the benefit of your experience, and show them there's more to this game than AE and the sewers. Be a voice of reason on your SG's forums and, if you're so inclined, this one.
Prestige means nothing in 2011. It doesn't even mean what the name itself does. Actions, not numbers.
The fact that half the people in the thread have said "I'd like it or I wouldn't care if it's there" has shown that yes, prestige does matter. It's only as arbitrary as you make it. I even stated that it doesn't reflect an SG being the best. It can be a measurement of loyalty or dedication however.
The only SG in the game who raids Hami is Twilight Avengers and I doubt they have broken the top 10 as an SG, they don't care, they are out there raiding and pwning things as an SG, setting the bar.
Repeat Offenders it the largest coalition across servers in the game and "breaks the game" using tactics most don't think about, use or embrace. Do they care about Prestige? No.
But, as you can see, through the original posting, and sitting around in atlas for 2 minutes and seeing SG recruitment announcements citing their "Top 5" status, that it does indeed matter to some. Whether it's a personal goal, an SG goal or a symbol for how long an SG has been around for, it matters to some. No matter how they got there or how enduring they are. Sure there are SGs who can with influence break the top 5 in one day, but that again is a goal that someone is trying to achieve for entirely different reasons.
I get that it doesn't automatically reflect awesomeness, but that doesn't mean it should be discredited. -
-
It would make sense to have Cloak of Darkness to go with Soul Drain, so you don't get attacked before actually using the power.
-
When I say forum cartel, I am referring to the uninviting atmosphere that certain people (the forum cartel) promote on the forums due to their inability to use reason.
You cannot take someone's idea, based off an opinion and then discredit it so ferociously because of "your" bad experience unless you take in everyone else's experiences into account and look at it subjectively.
Post count is unrelated. -

Quote:I'm referring to all of the people on this forum who have this habit of thinking their opinions constitute fact or better yet, some sort of in place game mechanic that only exists in their heads. It's not a secret society, it's a large group of people on this forum who drive others off the boards by being elitists whose opinions are the only way without being receptive to change, progression or any idea that isn't their idea. And here we have a prime example of "How to make sure to make your post into a whiny rant," alternately "How not to be taken seriously." Call out some shadowy "Forum Cartel." What are you going by, the stupid forum titles? LOL. Or are you one of those paranoids sitting at home in a tinfoil hat looking for some sort of conspiracy?
Quote:Which one? Certainly not this one. And "The player base?" I'm part of the player base. I certainly didn't ask for this. And if the "Forum Cartel" (lol) is arguing against it, guess what, THEY are part of the player base too, and not wanting it. And my early SG experiences with people focused on "Get prestige, churn prestige!" make me not want it. I think it's a crap idea.
Quote:Step 2 in making your post irrelevant: How to ignore things that were posted before. Prestige and dedication to an SG are not the same thing.
I have. Or at least had it strongly implied. Shortly before I left that group of good for nothings in that SG. Never mind that I was organizing task forces and helping new players, even buying things like KB IOs for them. Nope. I was less "worthy" than the idiot who was sitting on a farm all day. And I'm not making this up - really, REALLY bad player when we finally got him into a mission. All he knew how to do was farm. And that's all he did. Farm and PL.
No, it isn't.
I never said Prestige automatically showed how dedicated someone was to an SG. I said it CAN. It depends on how the player and the SG leader treats it. As you've ignored in this thread, there are multiple people who suggest that. Your one bad experience does not represent every instance of everything going on in this game with every single person. People play the game different then you do, deal with it.
Quote:Step 3: Go back to name calling to prove you don't have or can't undertand an argument.
Quote:Step 4: Prove you don't know what you're talking about. I see a pretty good mix of discussion, agreement and disagreement, and the agreement is not just with the regulars here.
Taking personal experience and other players opinions about how THEY play the game are baseless? It's baseless to assume that the way everyone perceives the game is the same. Or that some things don't mean different things to others. If it doesn't hurt you, who cares? Get off your high horse, really. -
Quote:I'd agree with this post most.I recently dusted off my Fire/Pain to get some incarnate stuff on him and to me running the iTrials it could have possibly been some of the most fun I've had on a toon blending formidable offense for all phases of the trials with the ability to buff, debuff, and heal.
As far as buffs, Fort vs. World of Pain I prefer the latter as defense seems to be everywhere now, and hitting the new softcap is seldom an issue. The extra resists to all definitely makes things easier, that with the fact its easy to perma for the whole team makes it an easy winner.
For Soothing Aura vs. Regen aura, I feel like for Squishies Soothing Aura is a better deal (Especially nice on Keyes with power boost) but for Higher HP toons, even with its down time Regeneration Aura wins easily thanks to Soothing Aura being based around corrupter base HP, where Regen benefits even further from +HP.
Anguishing Cry vs. Recovery Aura, once I added a T4 Ageless I never missed it (and I don't think anyone on the team/league did either). Granted an Emp could pick something something else for their Destiny to bring something to the table.
Pain has slightly better Clear Mind, Absorb Pain, and Resurrect clones in that they do more either for the person buffed or the caster.
I'd say Empathy wins easy with Adrenaline Boost's effects vs. Painbringer.
That all being said, neither is really obsolete at high level content (I find I'm healing for the league quite a bit when AV attacks get through) and played well a Pain or Emp in Keyes is great. On the Corruptor side of things, even if the buffs aren't as great you still get corruptor damage which is pretty awesome.
If you ever plan to solo, Pain is going to be the preferred set. I like having the stacking debuffs as +recov, +regen and all that have much closer caps. You can pretty much debuff stuff into oblivion and at the high end where people are IOd to the max, I think debuffs become more of what needs to be filled in.
I would like to see an All Emp team vs an All Pain team though, see who can do certain TFs quicker and such, would be interesting to see who comes out on top. -
Nice to see the forum cartel out in force trying to diminish another good idea that the player base has asked for.
It's not that prestige is that relevant, but to some, in the way they play, it is relevant. Then you have the people it doesn't matter to, for those people, since it doesn't matter, they should just not care. Somehow though,
Some people still play SG only, and some SGs have rules. Any notion of the game remembering past prestige levels being a negative thing is just people grasping for straws. Not everyone plays the way you do, and magically enough, you can totally ignore how much prestige you earn or you can quit and rejoin an SG as much as you like.
No one is saying having a lot of prestige makes you a good player, but what it does say is that you were dedicated enough to that one SG to provide them X amount of prestige so they could enhance their base. That is what prestige does. Sure any single person can start an SG and farm prestige all they like, but that is what that one person likes to do. For the people who try to meet SG requirements and hold their virtual heads high by thinking they are contributing something, prestige is a very good thing. I have never ever met a single person in the entire game who has sat there and said "Well I have x amount of prestige so I'm X amount better than you."
Comradery actually means something to some people and shows itself in many different ways, prestige is a good example.
The narrow-mindedness/elitism of the forum cartel on this board is ridiculous. You're going to sit here and talk about prestige being an "elitist" thing when all you people do all day long is crap on every other persons ideas? Instead of saying "that will never work", "1000 times no", "your idea sucks", why not think of a way to implement such ideas in a way that is best for all.
Many ideas could work, you people, for some odd reason that Twixt should do a study on, just like turning up your noses and making baseless arguments. -
Quote:Anyone who plays an Empathy by doing nothing but healing and buffing is playing that powerset completely wrong IMO and I don't want to play with them. The "Pure" empathy concept is ridiculous and should only ever be applied in PvP, and that's old school PvP teaming. Nowadays you could probably squeeze attacks into your toon just for zone.I don't know. When teamed with 7 IOed out, defense and damage machines. What's an empath to do if they only have 2 attacks, have no need to use the aoe heal (except maybe on themselves) and thusly no need to use the ST Heal.
Sure rock those Regen/EndRec powers, but that still doesn't mean the team needed them.
So, can +DMG the one person for even more damage...and then attack...with just two attacks. o.O
Any empathy who doesn't take their attacks is not only hurting themselves but the team as well. -
SS/Fire beats Fire/Fire hands down.
I have a few SS/FA across different servers and a Fire/FA. All are IO'd to the teeth and incarnated for at least Reactive tier 3, Ageless tier 3, Pyronic and Spiritual Tier 3.
The Fire/FA looks good on paper but it just can't generate and sustain as much +DMG as the SS can.
For PLing and ticket farming I prefer SS but for ticket farming Fire/FA is more comparable. When running Crey's Fire/FA doesn't come close to SS.
You can easily get under 5 minutes with a Fire/FA on Crey's so if you really like the set, then go for it. If you are trying to optimize then no, go for SS/FA.
Edit: Also, Rage crash is a perfect time for using Pyronic, popping insps once the ones you have wear off, using melt armor (if you haven't switched to //Elec) using Veng, or you can just keep smacking Footstomp for the +rech proc to hit and to keep the enemies on their backs for more survivability. -
If i've used Shadow Meld, Strength of Will and Rebirth all in one sitting on my Kat/WP then whatever I was doing was challenging. Typically something with serious defense debuffs and big burst damage. That is a rare oddity that I usually chalk up to PDD. Cims can hurt if I don't use Shadow Meld to help avoid those defense debuffs. Everything else eats dirt.

I lol'd, but yea, it goes like that lol It's especially useful if a toon has a boom, uses it, then dies, then fallout, then mutation or RoTP if they have it. Awesomesauce.
RoTP makes it even more boomtastic. -
Quote:This would be a nice consolation price if they didn't open up the Villain Patron Pools with a Hero side arc. They could just clone them but have BaBs, Sister psyche etc give them out.I'd rather see APPs left open to all, and a group of Hero Patrons added, unlockable only by Hero Alignments. If you want ALL your epic pools opened, you'd have to run an arc on each side.
It's annoying having to switch over just for Shadow Meld and Scorpion Shield. -
A team of all Emps has capped regen, recovery, dmg, tohit, recharge, defense (soft cap min), mezz protection, perception. What's not to love about stacked empathies?

Quote:Have you ever seen what a team of all Rads can do on a map by continuously using Veng bait and fallout? If you dismiss deaths as being part of the equation that equals success and replace it with time alone then you can begin to understand why those two powers can be substantially useful. It's almost like cheating when you use the powers the game has given you to full effect. My static team standard attitude: If anybody on the team dies, then things were done wrong.
Fallout and Vengeance are powers I've never seen taken by anybody I play with for the past 7 years. And none of us have ever thought about taking them...in fact I believe our shared response to such powers was "a power that requires a teammate to die to use without actually resurrecting the teammate? why?"
resurrect and mutations are fine, they correct the mistake....
A team consistently using Fallout on every mob intentionally is something smart to do, not something to be ashamed of. If you are trying not to die, then yes I can see why you'd be upset with yourself, but honestly you should shrug off that bad ideology and replace it with what actually works based on game mechanics. You are actually helping the team complete the objective faster and have become a huge force multiplier by allowing them to use Vengeance on you. Intentionally dying is fun. -

Quote:LSK, you didn't really answer the OP's questions. Also, try to make your posts seem like you passed English in school. I get a headache every time I try to read your run-on sentences and half-spelled words. Abbreviating long terms is fine, but shortening an already short word ("sux") is just lazy. Cell phone English is fine for text messaging, but written English should be formal enough for the audience you are writing to.
1. Farming S/L mobs is going to take advantage of Invulnerability's strengths. You probably knew that, but it sounds like you didn't figure out how to focus your build. Aim for 45% S/L defense with one enemy in range of Invincibility. Some may argue that you can get by with less for farming, but S/L attacks tend to have defense debuffs in them. After you get enough defense in your build, put as much recharge in it as you can afford. The more often you can use your AoEs, the faster your farming will go.
2. Make your own mission. Do a search for "fire farm" and play a few of them just to see how they work. Most of them use the same map with several objectives in the very first room. Completing those objectives triggers ambushes. You can generally cap tickets by completing all objectives on +0/x8. Don't worry about venturing deeper into the map. When you have the mission figured out, make your own, but replace the mobs with ones that do primarily S/L damage. You can make your own mobs and pick the exact powers they get, but try to avoid giving them more than one defense debuff power each.
3. You would be better off making a SS/Fire Brute for farming tickets. You can level it up on the fire farm maps and never leave Mercy Island if you want. The problem with Invuln/SS is the lack of AoE attacks and the low base damage.
Syntax is correct in terms of S/L defense and going after +recharge after that.
An SS/Fire brute is the farming king but, if you DO want to farm with your Invul toon, you can simply search S/L farm and more than enough options will pop up on the AE search function for you to choose from. -
Kat/WP is a sick combo and currently my favorite toon to play.
Slot for E/N def, go get shadow meld, enjoy life.
As for Incarnate stuff, I would go with Musculature and Rebirth +Regen. I never die if I'm paying attention. The only stuff it can get froggy with is anything with major -defense debuffs, as you have very little resistant to those. Cims and PPD generally, everything else is easy business. Divine Avalanche really helps with Cims though.
O and Desmodos is spot on.
Melee def is inherently going to take care of a ton of smashing attacks. So DA has it covered. -
Malware Bytes
Spybot Search and Destroy
AVG 2011
CCleaner
All Free and I've never had a single virus on this comp. Malware bytes in particular is a close personal favorite of mine in terms of getting rid of nasty viruses. -
Maybe the devs will notice this thread and make it so that the 4th power only has a prerequisite of 1 previous pool power. Therefore Tough and Weave would be attainable without boxing/kick.
The Aid Other part is cool at least. -
Quote:If they are already in the middle of a trial it is completely bogus to kick the league and suggest that "nope sorry, we don't believe you can finish this so we won't give you the chance."It isn't a new feature with Issue 20.5, and the people that duo'd the trials did so because of a bug that prevented the league from collapsing for too few players. Thankfully it has been at least partially fixed.
The reason for it is that most teams with the minimum to start the trials failed during beta. -
What about a specific mission where the scientists enlarge you view some crazy growth ray so you are large/strong enough to defeat said evil giant monsters? The mission would obviously be on a specific map where the size wouldn't be an issue. Technically speaking all the devs would have to do is make a bunch of tiny buildings and then throw in two normal sized baddies to fight you to give off the appearance of you being massive.

Plant/Psi is sickness. I highly recommend.
